there is a major bug on jellybean with this tablet where the otg will stop working and you have to reboot to fix the problem, can a app like USB OTG Helper get around this problem?
and please don't reply and say your otg works fine, you are not helping me by saying that, i want a solution & help with this problem, not a "works fine for me, not sure what you are talking about herpy derp" its really annoying and doesn't help my cause, just don't reply if you are going to say that.
so anyways, anyone installed this app on jellybean and have no lockups with the otg? please post on this topic, or if you know any other solutions or apps that can help that would be nice, just that i want to update to jellybean to get the feature to turn of notifications for apps, i get spammed to death by it and its really annoying. if nothing comes from this topic then i will just have to stay on ics till 4.3 or 4.2 comes (if that ever happens that is)

Could you tell us what the model number of the tablet is, root status, and software version?
I am having the same problem. However, the issue is not universal, i.e.: not all notes suffer from this problem. Sofar, it is not even clear to me whether the problem is hardware or software related. E.g.: my Note has Android 4.1.2 installed and USB only works once after a reboot (that is with the official Samsung adapters). I did try my adapters with a different Note, where they worked perfectly, but that tablet was running 4.1.1.
I have not tried OTG Helper, as I do not want to root my tablet (too risky with possible curious little fingers around), but I have just received a return ticket from Amazon Germany for a repair and/or replacement. If the replacement works, while running 4.1.2, I am much more inclined to call this a hardware failure, in which case no helper app can save you. I shall keep the forum informed...

if it was a hardware problem then my otg adaptor wouldn't work on ics would it? it's a software problem on jellybean, hence the reason i created this topic.
i've found solution to the problem and will leave this for anyone who needs it, basically sixaxis app and a dual shock 3 controller and root, you only need to connect the usb otg once and it registers the mac code from the controller with your tablet, after that you can play wirelessly without cables so the otg problem is completely bypassed, i'm happy because i can finally leave ice cream sandwich behind and enjoy jellybean on my tablet finally, i just wish someone told me this ages ago and i wouldn't have been stuck on ice cream sandwich for so long, yay! time to celebrate lol
started a bug report with android. Please help get this fixed
I started a bug report for this with android. Please go and star it for importance so that it gets fixed. If you got it working please go and say what you have/did to have usb otg working with 4.1.2.

Hi everyone, I hope I am not wasting your time with this question but I have just gone out and bought a Q2 Blueant headset and I have a HTC desire HD, on the side of the box it says it works with android and the guy at the shop said it works great..........the thing is if I say phone commands it says this phone is not supported, I have installed Vlingo and it does not pick up on my voice unless i speak into the phone and it just does not want to use the headset even though in the box the headset comes with says to use Vlingo with it!!! I don't get it!!
I have made sure the voicedialer.apk works and it does but not through the headset either, is there something I am missing? its driving me up the wall!!
Cheers for any help everyone.
If anyone can help at all it would be awesome, the people at vlingo are just emailing me what info they have on their site even though I asked them not to do that.....probably why they are doing it and blueant still won't get back to me. Someone else has to have tried to use Bluetooth.....
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Have you downloaded the blueant app? I have the Q1 and the T1 and they both work without issue. Also are you on a custom rom?
Thanks for the reply,
Yeah I have tried 2 custom roms now android revolution and core droid, I just want the headset to do more than answer and decline calls, I want full hands free feature with this thing, I have already gotten a $350 fine for using my phone so I bought the q2 which says it does all this and then when I say phone commands into the headset it just says this phone is not supported, I have gone through all the settings I can think of and nothing!
If there is a Rom you know of that will work perfect then Ill install that, I don't care what rom I am using I just want to be able to do my work while driving and any email I send to blueant or vlingo gets me nowhere.
EDIT: Yeah I downloaded the blueant app, it has done nothing for me unfortunately

Not real sure to be honest. I use it only for phone calls. I don't even have it read texts as that can be trouble causing. One of the main issues that when the screen is locked nothing will work till it is unlocked. What you are wanting may not be possible at the present time. Ill test a few things out on my end and see what I can find. But no promises
Cheers mate,
Ill be interested to know if yours works.
I did just get this email from Vlingo also.
"Hello
Thank you for contacting Vlingo Customer Support.
Our most recent 3.5 patch seems to have corrupted Vlingo's Bluetooth compatibility. We are currently investigating this matter and work to reproduce the issue you have reported to us. I regret that I am unable to provide you with a concise solution to resolve this matter at this time. Nonetheless, please be aware that our QA engineers are aware of the problem and will be testing to identify the issue. We hope to resolve the problem in a timely manner. If we are able to repair the issue, we will deploy the fix in a future version release.
We appreciate you brining this issue to our attention and apologize that our recent 3.5 build has caused issues with Bluetooth. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Best regards,"
But why my headset says my phone is not supported I still don't know.
One of the biggest issues I have found is the lock screen. Once locked it doesn't allow any commands untilled unlocked.
That wont bother me too much, when im in the car its connected to USB and it will be unlocked most of the time.
Bluetooth controllers broken in 4.2.1 - anyway to fix?
I just recently bought and icade with hopes of using it with MAME4droid and having my own arcade cabinet.
Several people have done this successfully with the TF300, but apparently the OTA 4.2.1 update broke bluetooth, or at least bluetooth controllers (like my icade), because I cannot get it to bluetooth pair.

So far I've read two things, a permission error, and a Bluetooth stack issue. It wouldn't surprise me if it's either one. There is a thread about it somewhere. I'm sure if you searched it you could find it easily.

I did search on this, and the info is unlcear. Some said 4.2.2 fixed bluetooth issues, some say still broken. Some said to fix permissions, but I don't know how to do that (newbie to rooting, etc.). Also, not sure that fixing permissions will fix bluetooth controllers?
I also saw conflicting info on root, or maybe I just got confused. Because it sounded like if you are on 4.2.1, you can not install a rom? did they mean a 4.2.1 rom, or any rom? I would be happy with 4.1 as long as bluetooth worked again. I posted questions in a couple threads, asking for clarification, or instructions. Still no one has responded with answers that can clear this up, so I am not sure what to try yet?
I guess very few people have 4.2.1 and use bluetooth controllers (or keyboards)? I know not many use an icade like me, but many people had the icade working on the TF300 in 4.0 and 4.1.
I just want to fix bluetooth or root back to a version that bluetooth worked (4.1?)

You searched too deeply. There is a thread in the TF300 forum about an issue with a single file having incorrect permissions. And they claimed restoring the permissions to the proper value fixed bluetooth for the 4.2.1 update. If i had the thread i would link it for you but if i can find it you can find it too.

Still having issues, I downloaded the ASUS 4.2.1, put it on SD card, but no update notification pops up? - probably because I am already on 4.2.1, is there a way to force it to update or reinstall 4.2.1?
Also, people mentioned reflashing it? can someone explain this? provide steps, and what other tools do I need? fastboot?, do I have to be rooted? or have an unlocked bootloader?
Please help me - I just want my bluetooth to work - who knows when Android will fix it......

You will have to unlock your device. And install recovery and then root. It's not hard so long as you pay attention to the directions in the general section

Hey guys
I pulled my TF300 out of the box, let it run through updating everything it wanted to update then after rebooting the keyboard dock refuses to work. The power is still there, showing up on the battery monitor and charging the tablet, and it's showing up as being connected, plus the USB port is fine, but there's no response from pressing any keyboard buttons or poking the mouse pad. Before the tablet updated to 4.2 (from whatever it came in the box with) it worked fine since I put in my gmail stuff with it, but now nothing.
I've tried reboots and reconnects and everything basic I can think of. Nothing wants to do anything.
There's so many threads about these problems, but no-one seems to actually have an answer for it, other than just poke and hope something works.
Anyone have an idea what I should do?
Hypothisising

This is just a hypothesis, but it's worth the shot.
When you updated the tablet, was the dock connected?
If not, the dock firmware might out dated for your tablets firmware version. I presume that's why on the update notice it advises you to connect your dock; to keep the dock compatible to prevent other users may end up in a situation like yours. Have you tried flashing the latest official rom via fastboot with the Tablet connected? You never know, it might be the solution.
Hope this helped.

So did you have any success? The problem might of been caused by the upgrade of the 4.1 bootloader to the 4.2 one whilst not having your dock attached.

It is an issue with stock kitkat.. Will not work. I have tried many of times.. I have ATT Note3.. I had to return the thing after the kitkat update for a 4.3 works like a champ. Something in the video driver causes flashing on the damn screen. Yes I never have any issues on 4.3. I really wish someone would figure this out. Could it be a firmware issue permission issue? Almost like the MHL driver doesn't want to play nice, yet it will work on my tv just fine with samsung OEM MHL2 adapter. Just not in the car with my Appradio 3.

The flashing can be stopped by going into developer options and disabling hardware overlays, also seems to work by foring GPU rendering.
U need flash a permisive kernel and disable knox or flash a rom without knox if u are on kitkat .I have a s5 running moars rom I couldnt get the appradio 3 to work till I flashed kt kernel. I have the same issue with the screen flashing .ill have try dimlow_uk methods thanks
Did that end up working for you. Disabling the hardware overlays and GPU rendering. I still have not updated to kit Kat Kat since all is working still on jelly bean.
Omg i love you... Thanks haha i knew it was something in the dev options. Just didnt know what. My att note 3 working like a charm now thanks
I got ipega 9055 game controller and noticed moving keys don't right. Keys get stuck or not register. Controller works in other phones.
This problem seems to be in other lenovo phones also.
I found some other people have similar issues:

In lenovo forums fix seems to be changing region to RU what seems weird. I have not tried this yet.
I was thinking does anyone else have game controller and issues like this?
Yes I do! And it drives me nuts trying to play Mario Kart. ?

I'm going to flash custom rom because of this. I tried everything i can think of with no result..
This issue has been pretty long and Lenovo is probably not going to do anything about it.
It would be nice to know if problem persists in custom rom. I strongky think its software related but i will see after 14 days...
Been tempted to stay clear of rooting this one for the likes of sky go and android pay so let me know how you get on with the flash. See if it helps. I was checking the Bluetooth specs on my P2 compared to other devices and it doesn't seem to be that. So I'm stumped. It appears the joystick is the only thing not responding properly. One press and it appears to be stuck in that position. I know for a fact it's not the joystick. Works a treat on my old S5.

I also wanted to stay stock for awhile longer..
Im also positive there is nothing wrong with my gamepad, tested mine with S6.
I let you know how it goes.
I can tell you now that nothing's wrong with your gamepad. In the MegaN64 app there's an option in input, controller, controller diagnostics to check the button and directional pushes. As you can see from the first screenshot the left joystick pushed down (AXIS-Y) is stuck on +0.67. Somewhere between half and a whole push. I had released the joystick while I took this screenshot. It's just stuck there. In the second screenshot I pushed the right trigger button (AXIS_GAS) Which cancelled the stuck joystick position but then that trigger button got stuck on +0.40. Nearly half a push. I had also let go of the trigger button while I took this screenshot. Personally I think it's down to Lenovo using cheap Bluetooth hardware. That's my guess. I'd love to be proved wrong though.

Thanks for testing.
I really hope its not hardware problem.
I'm sad that this is pretty common problem with Lenovo phones and there is no support from their part.

I have not yet flashed because of waiting period. Still 8 days remaining.
But in dev section i got answer that custom rom will fix issue.
Please check here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3592706
page 4 #38
Then again I suppose there's no Knox counter on P2 haha. I'm assuming you can unroot if necessary?
Are you going to install that custom ROM in the link? Or another?
No knox counter but OEM lock what you can unlock from dev settings(waiting time 14 days). After that you loose warranty.
I was thinking to try AOSP extended(same as link) but i have not decided.
I suppose you can unroot and go back to stock but warranty is gone.
edit: Now im on Resurrection mod. No problem with bt controller what so ever.

I was going to update anyone else on stock ROM. Just received a Gamesir WIRED controller and it's STILL experiencing the same issues. So after all that it's not been a Bluetooth issue at all. Just software. Great news that the Custom ROM worked for you. Think I might have to go down the same route. Which ROM was it you went for?

Ah that would explain why my Drone was acting crazy yesterday when I was flying it with my USB Gamepad, I thought the gamepad was shot ! It never crossed my mind that the P2 might be at fault...oh well a few more days to wait before I can unlock it.
I wonder if they'll just ever release Nougat for it? Haha. They're slacking big time.
btw if there is still people using stock system and want issue fixed, Lenovo has asked me for log info. I couldn't wait and flashed custom rom. Here is thread link if anyone is interested:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/P2-P2a42-Smartphones/bluetooth-controller-problem/td-p/3652943
Nice one, Kiryo. I'm still on stock for Android pay as it's come in so handy. ? Already had developer options enabled as I thought there might be an extra Bluetooth setting to adjust to try and fix the issue but there wasn't. So I've enabled bugging reports now. I'll send them a report over as soon as I get the controller connected later on. ?
Kiryo... Just curious. How are you getting on with the Custom ROM? Does it still have the same features the stock ROM has? Such as VR mode and dual app mode? Cheers...

Well there is all that i need. I have no need for VR mode but i guess it works in apps normally.
I also dont use dual app mode but i guess there is mutitasking option there.
Custom roms offer much more configurations than stock.
Im overall happy. There is still some issues with volume echoing with speaker and volume sliders during call etc.. but nothing too serious.
I'm just happy with functional bt controller.
Yeah I bet. Thanks for the info. ?
I'll look into making a nand backup as well I think. (If that still exists)
