I read some posts that not all hdmi cable are compatible with SlimPort.
Is there any specific requirements for that?
Anyone has recommendation for the shortest and most compact hdmi cable to use with slimport?
Thanks

You can get many type of Slimport adapters but HDMI is the exclusive to the Nexus 4, I even have one myself from Amazon.

Because of Android 4.3 it now allows auto orientation and much smoother due to the more frames from the update.
I would recommend this but there will be a few cut offs on the screen since the Nexus 4 is 1280x768 but that display is 1280x720 while the emulated screen app size (due to the softkeys) is 1196x1134 has the largest app so you may want to adjust the TV to fit or get a TV with the same true resolution.
There is also an issue (Android 4.3 issue) when if you play a YouTube video on the TV then it will do a blue block graphical glitch only on the TV for a mini second and a few seconds later.
Overall the SlimPort HDMI is a awesome little adapter and would recommend it.
Has for a Compact HDMI Cable this is the only one I can find, you may want to look on Google in your country: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B007BO9R7K
You can just get really any HDMI cable has long has they don't have Ethernet.

Any way to buy a slimport in Asia?
I found this 1M HDMI cable

But, it is still bulky for travel.

Gotta love a good flat cable, hate bulky thick cables.
Has anyone found another one with myDP yet? It's quite affordable I think, but still... I found way cheaper non-myDP adapters.
The one posted above is like the only myDP HDMI-Adapter on Amazon Germany, while there are plenty of those with other technologies.
One available in the EU would be nice. Don't really feel like paying for shipping from China or the US.

I wouldn't go with a flat cable, flat is good if you are taping it to the ground or snaking it under the carpet but not for something going in a bag.

Im using a custom rom and have no issues so far, im using energyrom currently.
make sure you are using a charger with 1A output, a usb port and another 500ma charger i have dont work so i guess dont provide enough power.
make sure your tv is on the right input too, if your tv disconnects certain signal pins when channel isnt in use it may not appear to work on your phone.

so far its fantastic and i think you will he happy but of course it really does depend on the source file quality.
all phone menus output at 720p frame size and look ok considering they are scaled up so much., i guess 1080p video will be scaled down.
Htc Watch rentals/downloads are only 960x540 (some are 720x576) frame size and have a bitrate of about 2000kb/s, they look average at best on a large screen but are watchable.
Blu-ray files encoded to mp4 720p 3000kb/s looks very very good for a single pass, 2.9gb file for 2 hour film.
2000kb/s was very pixelated and no good.
im encoding the same file at 4000 and 5000kb/s to see if the phone is capable of playing such high bitrates.
videos play as smooth on the big screen as they do on the small screen.
i notice a slight judder but then the phone seems to do this on all vidoes but then im looking for it so do see it.
really happy with my mhl adaptor, well worth £8
It's gone up to £14.99 (probably due to the increase in sales) however I picked one up from Amazon for £10.99
just wondering, are you able to play 720p movies with no lags at all?
If so, are u using software encoding or hardware encoding?
thanks!
Hi,
Is there anyone who bought one of those aftermarket LG 3D dock's such as this one on ebay:
www.ebay.nl/itm/Dockingstation-Lade...gstationen&hash=item27c0562090#ht_1089wt_1139
www.ebay.nl/itm/Dockingstation-Lade...gstationen&hash=item35b632025e#ht_2326wt_1139
I'm wondering if they thought about the little piece of plastic covering the USB connector, a part from that it seems a pretty nice way to store the phone next to say you bed or on you desk.
Any thoughts?

Even though im a member since 2006, im not allowed to post links yet.
Update: nevermind, fixed
Bought it a couple of days ago.
- Yes, they thought about the USB covering.
- Unfortunately they forgot about the headphone jack. It's not accessible. To make it accessible you have to use a dremel or similar tool to cut away a bit of the rail which helps the phone slip into it's place.
- Two of my batteries sometimes lose contact when in the charger. Most times they charge well.
- The blue power indicator is very bright.
- Due to the phone's angle of 55° when in the stand the stand is best used on a desk when looking down on it from an angle.
Cool. Thanks, i connect my p920 to the stereo via bluetooth anyway, but thanks for the info!

the SDT-190 has no additional battery charger
it's more expensive
was hoping for the other dock to allow the phone wearing a gel case (it doesn't)
Ordering SDT-190 from LG Shop @ 16 Euro
PS. I just hope they will have it in stock.
And it has arrived - directly from LG Poland - took only 1 working day for the order to be processed and delivered by UPS.
Three pics as attached below.
Feels solid, heavy and of excellent build quality.
As you can see, it has two connectors: micro USB and micro HDMI
The phone's ports have those covers, which once you turn them 180 degrees hide into cavities which are located on both sides of connectors (on the dock).
Sliding into ports is easy and comfortable - no extra force or pressure is needed to place the phone into the dock - as well as no extra effort is needed to navigate the ports onto the connectors.
The cut you see on the left hand side is provided for the mini jack port (audio output), so that headphones or external speakers can be plugged in - yes we would prefer the audio port to be at the back at the dock, but this is good enough.
The USB port at the back enables us to charge the phone via USB cable (also works for connecting the phone to a PC as a USB mass storage) or the mains charger.
The docking station is ideal for everyday charging as well as watching movies, or YT
I believe it may also work as a stand when using a Bluetooth keyboard - one that I am waiting to arrive - excellent set up for typing vant numbers of emails and messages while away from our computer/away from home.
Overall I'm happy with the purchase, and I do think I would buy any other dock imitating the genuine original LG accessory.

Did your bluetooth keyboard work and what model did you use?
no it didnt work. only CM7 has L2CAP Bluetooth Protocol open/supported, and that's needed to connect the keyboard properly.
So I've sold it...
will this work?
any way to add bluetooth support?
http://www.thinkgeek.com/clearance/on-sale/e0e7/
you need to read the product description to see which OS it supports, or ask the seller.
you can't just turn the L2CAP protocol on just like that.

We have a few floating around the house. The newer ones charge via MicroUSB so there's no extra wallwart to misplace, and you can get the Samsung adapters from Dealextreme (as mentioned) or from Newtrent. I second the IMP500 recommendation - nice and compact, and even has an included LED flashlight and laser pointer. It's my cat's favorite toy.:silly:

I have a "PowerGen Duo-Power 8400mAh", which has just enough power to charge the tablet once from 20% to full. Got it from amazon, but I think it's floating around under a couple of different brand names.
Came with a Samsung adapter and a couple others. Can be charged itself via micro USB. So on a longer tour I am actually recharging that thing with something I built that runs on my bike's dynamo (With another 30Whrs battery buffer in between). Endless possibilities
The New Trent iTorch 52D comes with a cable specifically labeled for the Galaxy Tab. $29.95 at Amazon.
$40 + shipping is really too much for me. So I decided to take the plunge and get one of the Deconn adapters that have been floating around on ebay. Interestingly enough, the functionality is just as good as the OEM Analogix adapters.

I purchased my unit from kangyi2011 (link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261249574227) for $18, including shipping. The only colour available was white—which looks surprisingly good in contrast to my pitch black Nexus 4 and TV—as if it is highlighted in a dark sea of modern electronics. You can clearly see the Slimport branding on the adapter even though it is not OEM.
UPDATE: A quick ebay search showed me that the adapter is now available in black, and has an additional micro usb cable for charging, which was not included with my unit.
The build quality of the adapter is quite good, as all of the parts seem to be pieced together securely. The ports are solid and the micro usb cable plugs in easily and securely to my phone.
In addition to the HDMI port, there is a micro usb port on the other side of the adapter to allow for charging during use. This is a very important feature as I noticed that my Nexus' battery drained very quickly while mirroring, even at minimum brightness.
HDMI port
Micro usb charging port
As I mentioned earlier, the adapter works perfectly, mirroring my Nexus 4's screen at native 1080p. It is fully compatible with Android 4.3 and its updates; i.e. screen does not force into landscape now. I have not included any pictures of the adapter during use because it has the same functionality as the Analogix adapter.
The only gripe I have about the product is that the phone connection cable (which cannot be removed) is rather short. This means that you must keep your phone close to the adapter during use. This may make it difficult to play games, as the adapter can get in the way. Mirroring media is not a problem as you do not need to be touching the phone.
PROS:
- Solid construction
- Full functionality in comparison to OEM adapters
- Cheap price
CONS:
- Relatively long shipping wait
- Connection cable is a bit short

WOW, I was looking for this! It's hard to say if these chinese products have really good quality, especially when we're talking about a new technology.
I think I'll get one, since shipping costs to Brazil make the OEM one even more expensive!
I just want to ask you if you noticed some problem with it's frame rate, cause some hdmi and vga chinese cables, sometimes, even having the expected resolution, show problems with that. Have you tried some games just to see how does it go?
Thank you very very much, just for writing this complete review you helped me a lot! Cheeeers from BR!

No frame rate issues most of the time, but there are some microstutters (barely noticeable) during 1080p playback of certain movie files (wmv, mkv). This is to be expected though.

They are USB 2.0, but I know I'll need some spare cables at home, in the car and at work.
The cables are much nicer than I thought it would be for this price. They actually are a beautiful color with a clear surrounding on them as you can see in the pictures. The end all have this really nice speckled metallic appearance. The connectors look like they're pretty well made and nothing feels cheap. I will say the cables themselves are a little floppier that I was expecting but I've noticed this from flat cables a lot more.
Only cost me $19 for the 4 cables. Let me know if you guys have any questions, I'll answer what I can.

They may, but I don't care, that's why they are spares. I've got a few others on the way and one of the dual port ones from Google work the long cable.
thanks these will probably work great for a nice slow trickle charge through usb at work!

That's what I was thinking, when you can't find your good cable and need something to keep it alive, or have to move some files or pictures at work.
I have these but haven't used then yet. They feel very cheap to me. I don't expect more than 500mA. I'm sure they'll be great for a trickle charge until they fall apart. I expect to keep them for that reason only, even if they only last 6 months.
