I need a suggestion ... a smooth browser for multi tab browsing which is not very heavy so i can get better battery life also because i browse a lot ... also despite i like chrome a lot i had some crashes when browsing the forums here but also seem too memory hungry and battery also ... any suggestions would be appreciated
Dolphin Browser Beta. That shiz flies. Way faster than chrome yet more battery friendly. Boat browser is also pretty good
Opera browser it can save some kb/mb when browsing

vote for dolphin (not beta)
I'm currently using Firefox with no problems at all when opening multiple tabs and battery life seems good
Dolphin.
I like opera mobile more, but in terms of response and fluidity nothing comes close to dolphin
Stock aosp is also nice, but the quick controls seem dodgy to me and doesn't always work, which is a deal breaker when running full screen.

I really dont like Chrome at all, it sucks. But then, why the hell Samsung has leaved out chrome bookmark sync from native browser? I dont get it. I need good browser, which sync automatically my desktop Chrome bookmarks, but there isn't any browser... Is it possible port browser example from Note2?

In greece data plans tend to be rather expensive ... and i think that the same applies to numerous other countries ... i believe u should count yourself lucky in that matter
I used chrome on my gt i9500 although i'm from greece i opted for that because i thought it may have more potential since it's a new technology and snapdragon 600 reached pretty much it's limits ... didn't count overheating in that equation unfortunately but you never know what the mighty xda developers may come up with and i also like touchwiz so i'm not that disappointed ... anyways chrome seems that gets unreasonably bloated at times ... like around 650mb of ram with just xda forums tab ... except the fact that i tried most if not all of your suggestions and thank u for the contribution to the topic i reached to the conclusion that chrome uses the most memory than anyone else but is also one of the most fluid ... also dolphin and dolphin beta use a bit less memory and are just as fluid with beta version a bit faster than the non beta and just as fast as chrome ... boat is ok would say a bit inferior to those mentioned above ... ucbrowser and maxthon doesn't seem to be as good at least in my device ... i used opera a lot in the past but i didn't try it because not full screen mode and that adress bar which doesn't dissappear started to getting on my nerves and firefox left to try
i opened the exact same pages to all of those browsers i tried and also seem pretty much all of them have some kind of problem with xda forums ... seem to get stuck at some point
Conclusion ... so far dolphin beta and chrome seem to the best ...
Boat - many options and good/clear UI ...
Try Boa t Browser

Hi all,
The browser on 2.3.4 isn't GPU accelerated yet.
Some content rich webpages make surfing impossible with that substantial lag.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Any quick fix to make it GPU accelerated? Or is Google aware of this issue? This has been bugging me
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
You'll probably have to wait for Icecream Sandwich, in the meanwhile, use Opera.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Maybe the issue will be resolved in a future update 2.3.x, we can hope it.
especially when there are many pictures.
Opera handles much better..
Yep, the stock browser on Nexus S is really laggy. I prefer Opera on it.
But it's interesting that the stock browser in Galaxy Tabs Gingerbread ROM is super smooth. And given the fact that it was really awful in the beginning, its a HUGE improvement. So fingers crosses that Nexus S's stock browser gets a performance upgrade before ice cream sandwitch.
Seems odd to me. I bought a smart phone over a feature phone for better web browsing.
I hate it.. I don't understand the limitations when safari on iPhones has been smooth for years on less powerful hardware.
i installed flash 10.3 and all is good with the stock browser
Heres to hoping ice cream sandwich sorts it...as will as bring proxy!

I have a xoom & some websites i go to like as far the scrolling & page rendering is horrific. My friend who has a dang ipad comes along & loads & scrolls through the same pages on his ipad with ease. Will ICS do anything for the browser?
Maybe any links to what the browser is capable of in ICS?
Check the development forum...ICS is amazing, and the browser is much faster now.

Pretty much this. I have noticed a big difference in page rendering on ICS. I won't go as far as to say it's revolutionary because I don't think HC was that bad, but it is definitely improved.
Some pages, like XDA forums, are particularly bad in the honeycomb browser. No such issue on ICS browser. This page renders and scrolls smoothly, just like many other.
Thanks for the replies. I just picked up the Asus Transformer Prime & the keyboard dock. I'm looking forward to ICS on this baby.

One major difference is the iPad is not loading the Adobe Flash content/ads. XDA is extremely bad because of all the ads it has embedded. My suggestion is (if your not using my ROM) is to get an ad blocker, pages will load much faster.

The only other browser that I've used on ICS is the new Firefox. Firefox isn't as snappy as the ICS browser but doesn't seem to have the issues with links not opening. I'm also not a huge fan of the Firefox UI, so I tend to use the stock browser most of the time.
I find that setiing plug ins to "on demand" makes a big difference, the browser isn't trying to load all the flash stuff then. Mine is now pass able, still not as smooth as the ipad or ie9 in wp7 but I do have flash available which mostly makes up for the laggy performance.
definatly alot smoother.

I have a copy and paste app that just takes a long press to activate. Clip It works really well. There are quite a few free apps that do this...they are just resident and are available when you need them.
The long press can do wonders in android...many possibilities.
I'm about to go pick one up at the AT&T store and had 3 questions before I do..
1) I heard that the Web Browsing isn't smooth... like when you double-tap to zoom in or pinch-to-zoom it freezes and loads or whatever.
2) When you are recording video; it has terrible frame rate when you are moving the camera around...
3) Is this phone worth it?
This is my first ever android phone, came from and iPhone 4 and I gotta say, its AMAZING! Well worth the money, and I haven't had any of the issues you mentioned.

I was going to go get one tomorrow. Thanks for the opinion!
I have taken several videos and haven't had any framerate drops. That's not saying it doesn't happen, but it hasn't happened to me yet.
The stock browser does have some jerkiness due to the text reflow. Some don't like the reflow, but I absolutely love it. If this bothers you, you can use another browser. Chrome Beta and Opera work great on this phone.

Just my personal experience, but I find the Chrome browser to perform poorly on this phone, compared to Opera Mini or the stock browser. I was running a vanilla ICS rom on my DHD and Chrome worked great on that.
That aside, I do find some weird jitters in the stock browser. Honestly though, it's not that bad. Usually only has a noticeable effect if I try to zoom on a page while it's still loading. Also, zooming in on plain text files (like game walkthroughs) seems to lose your place in the file, even though the text doesn't get reflowed.
Ok, I'm not one to plug an app but how the Hell is this browser this fast? Long story short, I started researching browsers today because Chrome is just terrible. And there was an article by pocket now comparing the top ten browsers. puffing crushed everything. So I figured what the heck, and wow. If you've heard of this already then you know I'm talking about but if you haven't, try it out. Interface will take some getting used to but well worth it in my opinion

I still haven't found the right browser for me. I really like Safari on my iPhone, that can sync all my password and bookmark to Safari on Mac and iPad. Reading list, reader mode, and adblock are also awesome. Is there any browser on Android that come close with this functionality?
Also, does Chrome and Firefox also sync your passwors to Desktop browser? And how do you open tab in background in Samsung Internet Browser?

Chrome would be your best bet but the stock sbrowser while based on chrome is by far the fastest and smoothest (doesn't sync with your desktop though).

Im sure these things could be easily fixed but good luck getting anyone at samsung to listen to you.
