[Q] Galaxy SL Touch panel - Hardware verification - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Hi,
Soft keys (back button and options/menu) key have stopped working on my device. Till date I was using softkey apps and worked well. However, suddenly options key turns on (simulates as if i pressed it) and hangs the screen. I have been informed by the service centre that whole touch panel needs to be replaced.
I've found one on ebay in half the price of what service centre quotes, need to make sure that it is the same stuff that I'm looking for.
Anyone aware of hardware stuff tell me the link I have shared gives me the correct thing or not.

Will be a great help.

Raphel Scroll Whell and Keys problem

Hi friends, I bought a HTC FUZE but I have some problems with my device....
1) the buzzer speaker didn't work but I send the FUZE to a repair center....they told me that the problem was the FLEX....they repair the flex and now the speaker works again....I'm happy with the result....but
2) After the reparation, the keys in front of the hone doesn't work propperly.....I mean the left, rigth, up, down keys and Home key, back key, send and end key......and the scroll whell doesn´t work frecuntly.....I will explain....when I press left key for example it goes to home screen when I press rigth key is like I press the end key...all keys are really wear....my question is....
Is this a flex problem????? I'm wondering if the people in rpair center damaged the flex...Thanks for your answers.
Sounds like they hav damaged the navicap, you will need to send it bk get it replaced
whats the navicap??? so the problem is not the flex??? Thanks for your answer.
The navi cap is the panel underneath the screen, it sounds like they have damaged it during the repair as you said it is registering but not the correct buttons, i sugest you contact them and ask them to replace it, or you could buy a new one online and replace it yourself, its quite a simple procedure, take a look at the wiki

[Q] Hardware buttons went crazy!

Hello!
I'm experiencing some problems with my o2 Touch Pro.
Hardware buttons on the bottom of the phone (d-pad, home, back, call, end call) are not working properly (they work fine only 20% of the time, it's random i guess).
When i press "call" button, device responds as if i pressed the "left" button. It's very annoying. The circle used to zoom in, and out around the "enter" button is problematic as well. It zooms - but but in a very chatoic way - a bit of of zoom in, then zoom out, another zoom in. Functions are just messed up.
Another time, it's all working...
How can i fix it? Is it a hardware problem?
I'm using the Energy Rom - titanium version.
Thanks for your help in advance...
Honestly, if you can't deal with it, get another device. Either that or stick with the stock ROM, less problematic (you can also keep the full function of the d-pad) but then again it may introduce other issues. Someone mentioned this being more a hardware than a software issue. Since I cannot reproduce this on my at&t Fuze, that is all I can suggest on my end.
I get some of that with my fuze; mostly, the d-pad doesn't read gestures properly. If I run compact heaps (from sk tools) periodically, it helps. Soft resetting obviously helps as well. I think it's more of a hardware issue. My problems have definitely gotten worse over time. You can also check out this tool (from an HTC test rom dump; can't remember where I got it). It's a debugger for the d-pad. At least you can see how accurately the button presses and gestures work.
Thanks.

[Q] Pantech Crossover Button Mapping Issues

Today I did a software reset so I could let me fiance use my phone since it was a little better than her outdated Huwei. Upon rebooting the Home button no longer funtioned. It will still wake the screen however it does not function in any other way (so obviously its not a physical issue).
I was able to pull up the files to view the mapped buttons and even tried the app on xda for button remapping. However the crossover comes with an extra function button in the top left corner which doesn't function at all any more. This tells me that the mapping file was over written with an incompatible file. Possibly an issue with a wrong file being assigned after a software reset. Not quite sure.
What I would like to happen is to see if anyone else here has a Pantech Crossover and can simply send me there button assignment files.
Another issue I ran into after the reset was the notification bar (still shows at the top) is not draggable. I am not able to pull it down or even hit the "notifications" button under the menu when you hit the menu button from the home screen.
I am no noob to technology so feel free to ask for anything. If you have a crossover and are unsure on how to get those files please let me know and I will direct you. (Please already be rooted.. there are plenty of great guides on these forums on how to do this for both firmware versions available)

Menu button does not work with CM10 or cm based roms

Hi there,
my HTC One S (ville) fall down and the display was broken completely.
I bought myself a new a one and have build it in. While replacing the screen I screwed the Flex cable which is responsible for the hardware buttons at bottom (and the sound however).
I also got a new flex cable and replaced the old one.
1) Problem
When I restart my phone the buttons at the bottom work, until I get into lockscreen. After that they won't work anymore, I don't know why. (Only restart helps, again they work only until I got into lockscreen).
2) Workaround-Problem
So, as a workaround a decided to install CM10 to use the navigation bar (I set qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 in prop.build before I flashed the rom).
Now I have the problem with the menu button. The 3-dot menu button shows up but has obviously no function. When I click on it nothing happens - I can't access any settings menu in apps.
I tried also Virtual Button App - either there the menu function does not do anything.
Of course I rooted my phone etc...
Is there something special with the HTC ONE S and the menu button function?
Thanks very much in advance,
Maik

home button not working??

hey guys, i noticed today that sometimes when i press the home button to wake the phone it doesnt react...when i press it again it works normally....this happened to me two times....did anyone see this?
That sounds like a hardware issue. The home button synthesize sensor must not be recognizing the pressure you are applying to the button. Did this happen after a software update?
I'm having the same issue with the home button being super spotty and straight not registering when I push the home button. This is super irritating. I constantly have to press the button and sit like an idiot while it does nothing, then press again.

i only noticed this today...and yes 2 days ago i have done an OTA update....
I have a Verizon version running 5.0.2
i tried now to see if this is happening when i am pressing the sides of the home button...and yes...it looks like sometimes i press the sides thats why it doesnt work....but the thing is my home button is a bit loose...so its easy to hit the sides...
I had the S4 and the Note 3. Never had a problem. If I press the button and it clicks it should work.

Hmm that could be a number of things. It could be the hardware. It could be the update that you've installed that is causing wake lock on the device. Since your phone is covered by the one year limited warranty, I think you should contact Samsung and request an exchange/replacement. You can, however, try a factory reset to see if the wake lock problem goes away.
Ok I've been able to replicate the problem 100% if I choose. It is most definitely a hardware problem. If the home button is pressed on the left corner of the button it fully depresses and even clicks. But it doesn't register as so.
Definitely a hardware issue.
My phone had this issue as well where it wouldnt register soft clicks or off center taps and I would regularly get missed presses when using the phone (unless I pressed the button hard). I had verizon send me a replacement. The new phone just showed up, and the home button works almost perfectly. I can still get it to not register if I try really hard to push extremely lightly, on the very edge of the button with my finger nail, but its easily 100x better than the previous one.
The new button is also almost silent while the old one made kind of a cheap plastic click sound like it rattled slightly. It also feels like it requires a tad less force to press than the old button. The old button I could easily recreate the issue 100% of the time by just pressing lightly or pressing off center and it would regularly bother me while using the phone.
Buttons don't work

Here is a "solution" that has worked for me. My S6 is the Verizon variant, but I think these steps will work on any Service Provider.
Settings > Accessibility > Dexterity and interaction > Assistant menu
From here, toggle the switch to "ON". This will create a hovering circle with a window with four panes inside it. If you interactive with the hovering circle it will open a new window in which you have access to the back and recent apps buttons via an onscreen button.
Not sure what has disabled the hardware buttons, but this should give you access via onscreen software.
I know it's not a true fix, but a work around.
If someone finds a true fix, please post it! But in the meantime ...
I hope this helps!
Hello,
I had a S6 and after 4 days I noticed loose home button: it made noise the tap on it (not press). And also didn't registered clicks on the left side.
I exchange it for another and this one is almost perfect. I notice the left side of the butto to be a bit pressed. Anyway, I suspect a harware issue.
Lollipop 5.1.1

My home button stopped working all together right after an update. How can I remove this issue? Every thing else works perfectly. Please help!
I have issues with my home button as well, it's "loose" and rattling. It has always been a bit loose but the last few months it has gotten worse and worse, it started to require more and more pressure to register the press (way beyond the pressure needed for it to *click*). As of now it does not even work at all, no matter how hard I try pressing it.
I've tried the assistant menu that's mentioned here in the thread but I just find the menu annoying. Instead I have learned to live with it for the time being, I just multitask to instagram or facebook and then spam the back button until I'm back at home.
100% hardware issue.
Apparently it's possible to replace the home button, and there are replacement home button to buy from ebay, but the replacement procedure is ridiculuos. The home button is basically the last thing you will demount from the phone when disassembling it.
I found a temporary fix by dabbing the home button with Isopropyl, this made it like new again. But two days later it's back to as it was before, or maybe even worse.
Annoying as hell, especially since this is a result of poor quality control from Samsung.
Update: Found a nice little app on play store called "button remapper" which lets me rebind the default system buttons without requiring root, i have rebinded the "recent apps" button to act as a home button instead, and a long press opens the regular "recent apps". Seems to be an alright workaround.
Just go to samsung shop, let them see,if no exchange or replace or fix, take their demo phones like s8 (2017) throw on to the floor and then take any phone u want, leave the s6 phone alone (make sure it is factory reseted).Ran away and shout #ALLAHUAKBAR!
