Hi All
I have been having issues with my camera, which I thought were strictly issues with cm10.1.2 and nightlies...but I have flashed liquid and clean stock rom (rooted), and have the same issue.
when I try to use the camera, i get error. Warning: Camera Failed, on other roms I was getting Camera Error: camera unable to to connect ...failed error...not sure what to do here All the kernels change when the roms change..
radio is MF1

So you're on a mf1 stock rooted rom?
Try to flash a recent custom kernel.

This is different than what I've seen, have you flashed the newest cm10 nightly and gave it a go? Everything sounds like it should be working. I know a lot of nightlies have been giving people camera issues.

Have you gone completely back to stock with Odin? I'm confused if you used a stock rooted rom or cleanRom.

Ok, well if it worked then it's not like it's completely busted.
Try to odin completely back to stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114
This will ensure everything is perfectly stock, flash the mb1 image and then ota to mf1 and reroot, then once everything is on the mf1 base, only flash TW roms based on the mf1 base or use AOSP roms.

If it is working then suddenly not in the same day I'm leaning toward hardware issue. Have you tried restoring to stock but not the newest update? Try a older firmware. I had a friend I helped root his s3 and there was a issue with the newest firmware giving this error when flashing custom roms since the roms were based off the older firmware. I aslo have camera errors today after flashing the Synergy ROM (r484). I'm set on this ROM because it is the only one I've found that will
Support other cell carriers on a Verizon SCH-I535 and I need to switch carriers in a couple of days. Some one in a developer thread said that it should get the older firmware flashed to fix the camera or else I could choose to change the kernal. My firmware is I535VRBMF1 and what was sugested was MB1 firmware. I have several questions. What would I risk or loose by going to the older firmware? How do I get it and flash it (I have Odin but haven't used it yet). The Kernal came with Synergy ROM and is refered to as Ziggy's.

You don't stand to lose anything except possibly data connection and speed, and signal strength and quality. You can find the all in one (AIO) zips from Invisiblek's thread, just flash VRBMB1 aio in recovery. Invisiblek does not make any of these that are Odin flashable for JB and beyond.

Sorry, I'm a total noob. I don't really understand how the "Baseband Version" factors into the ROM/phone operation. Can someone explain it? I have a pretty good understanding of computers but when it comes to the phone it seems very black-boxy -- I'm still learning. My underlying question is:
The BoneStock ROM says: "BoneStock v3.0 (VRBMF1) 6/23/13", my phone currently has VRBMB1. Can I flash the BoneStock ROM on my phone or do I need to upgrade the Baseband Version somehow before I do that? I saw links to different revisions on the BoneStock thread but there isn't a whole lot of explanation about how to use them.
Thanks,
-Greg

Did you flash it before flashing BoneStock or does it matter what the order is?
Modem has no relation to what ROM you are on. You can flash whichever you want first, doesn't matter.

I'm currently running Hyperdrive RLS 16 and want to know if it is possible to go to [Rom][d2vzw][Official][Kitkat - 4.4.2] - Gummy - Nightly's?
Do I just need to follow the instructions or is there more files I need to change within the phone? Basically, I want to know if it will be a simple transition.
Thank You!

You should be just fine. Just install like any other ROMs. Don't forget to wipe Data. Make sure you update your recovery to the latest version first BEFORE FLASHING since gummy is Kitkat. This is very important.

I was going to pose the same question.. Ironically I'm on Hyperdrive RLS 16 also and am either going to the last carbon nightly or maybe something 4.4 ?
My question was do I need to flash the MF1 firmware, but I guess not ?
I loved carbon when I used it before ( last was v 1.7 stable ) but had to flash to stock/TW base to flash my phone to PagePlus and TW is waaaay to clunky for me I can't stand it anymore !!
Edit: Would the new PhilZ work for a KitKat rom ? the new official one ?

Clean flashing is recommended if you don't want to have any issues.
But you're free to dirty flash over an existing nightly if you don't want to clean flash. However, any issues you get are your own issues and should not be reported in the Gummy thread.

Thats what i thought but wasn't %100 sure because mine is VRLHE. Should i flash it anyway to M1 modem only will i get better speeds and is the radio better. Eventually im going to flash 4.3 or 4.4 just waiting for a daily driver.
Just have a quick question. I'm not really all up to date with how the radios work but the new I535VRUCML1 is abler to be flashed I'm on 1535vrbmf1. If I flash the new radio will I still be able to use 4.1.2 roms or only be able to use 4.3?
It would be wise to stay on the MF1 baseband until you decide you want a 4.3 TW ROM. I Was on an AOSP 4.4 ROM with MF1 and had no problems.

You cannot be on anything older than a 4.3 ROM with the ML1 radio... you WILL brick.
There is a ML1 radio available for download and all you have to do is flash it in recovery. But like I said, you must be on a 4.3-4.4 based ROM to flash it without bricking.

That's not true, at least not for all phones. I flashed the ML1 radio while running a 4.1.2 Touchwiz ROM and everything worked fine. My signal and data speeds seemed worse than on the MF1 radio though, so I flashed back.

I could be wrong but from what I've read, many people must be extra careful about what radios they flash and when... especially with ML1... for some reason.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Ml1 radio will work fine on any rom you run. If you took the OTA update, then you are unable to flash any radios since you have the entire ML1 firmware. The bootloader needs every part of the firmware in order to boot.
Since the flashable zip is only the radio for ML1, there's no danger of this doing any harm or bricking your phone. People have reported much better signal strength when using the ML1 radio with the MF1 firmware on 4.3 roms. I would stay on MF1 if using a 4.1.2 rom. I'm actually still using MB1.

You're mostly right, if you flash the entire ML1 firmware you will brick, and that will cause problems when you run a 4.1.2 rom. Flashing the modem only has no bad effects except for possibly decreased signal strength.

VRUCML1 should work a little better on AOSP than VRBMF1 so long as it includes commits like this
Is there an issue with using the 4.3 modem on the 4.4 rom? I recently went to TW 4.3 but then went back to 4.4 AOSB and some of my apps don't get data connection and I seem to have terrible service everywhere?
If so where can I find a usable modem?

No.
#1,There is no stock 4.2.
#2, if you did flash the 4.3 firmware you'd be stuck on stock 4.3. This isn't your case at all since you're on aosp 4.4.
If you're having signal issues you're free to flash mf1 or mb1 aio firmware zips. But you can only flash the 4.3 ml1 modem zip.
Does that make sense?

I've seen the same issue on ASOB with the with ML1 BB and MF1 FW. I put my phone back to MB1 (Android 4.1.2) with Odin and re-rooted it and installed a custom recovery and then loaded the ASOB 1.3.1. I then loaded MF1 FW then ML1 BB. Seems to work fine now.

You must switching modems not firmware. There is HUGE difference. If you are loading the ML1 firmware then you can't go back previous firmwares. Period. But you can go back on the modems.

ya I definitely didn't flash the firmware then because I specifically waited to make sure I didn't get screwed. I guess something in the flashing process went wrong and I'm going to try a new rom to see if that fixes it. If not then I'll just re-odin like lakingslayer did and hopefully my problem will be gone.
Thanks guys!
