HP Slatebook x2 - MOST POWERFUL GAMING ANDROID TABLET EVER?! - Android General

Processor
NVIDIA® Tegra® 4 T40S with Intel HD Graphics (1.8 GHz, 1 MB L2 cache)
Graphics
Intel HD Graphics 4000
An Android tablet with Intel's HD 4000?!!!
This could mean some SERIOUS gaming performance, on par with PC class discrete graphics cards.
The one thing I'm worried about is app compatibility.
Can anybody verify? Does anyone have benchmarks?
If not, I'm returning my N7v2 very soon and will find out for myself!

No this can't be right. Why would a nVidia Tegra 4 use Intel graphics. It's like an oxymoron.

I realize it's completely backwards.
I just spoke with an HP salesperson on their website. They confirmed that it does indeed come with the HD 4000. I also asked them about app compatibility, and they said there will be no issues whatsoever (but I'll have to see for myself.)
HOLY CRAAAAP I'VE NEVER BEEN THIS EXCITED ABOUT AN ANDROID TABLET BEFORE!
Tegra 4 CPU + Intel HD 4000 = FASTEST, MOST POWERFUL ANDROID TABLET EVER!
And the fact that NO ONE is talking about this is just weird! THIS IS THE BIGGEST NEWS FOR ANDROID!

The spec sheet that you can download on the HP site does not have Intel graphics listed but in the main spec list on the store front clearly has Intel listed for graphics. I wish HP would clarify this...even if it turns out to use the Nvidia GPU its still a beast of a tablet. I'm waiting on reviews and/or availability in retail stores to teat it out. Very interested though

Thank you! Finally someone else who understands how REVOLUTIONARY this is!
For the CPU, spec sheet says: Nvidia T40S, 4-Plus-1™ Quad
Could the "Plus 1" mean the Intel HD 4000?
Edit: No, I just found out it doesn't.
"The so-called 4-plus-1 processor cores are in fact five ARM Cortex-A15 CPU cores where the fifth core is used largely for power-saving purposes."

Hd 4000 confirmed
I just spoke with an HP Customer Representative:

Ok so no Intel graphics that's fine. I always thought it was a little odd...anyways now we need to know when and where this will retail in physical stores!
All I know is that someone that speaks English needs to do a comprehensive review of this tablet on YouTube. For a device that has been trickling out world wide there HAS to be someone reviewing it and/or bench-marking it. SOMEONE PLEASE!

As far as i can see it has nvidia graphics (which would be logical), you can see that at the comparism page of HP

Here are his benchmarks: Quadrant score: 12919 - AnTuTu score: 27666

HP Clearly mentioned HD4000 in specs. I am planning get one.
$479 fot a 10.1 tablet with keyboard is a lot cheaper than competition.

HP has fixed their spec page now. It does NOT come with Intel graphics..which is fine...what is more concerning is that the rest of the world gets 32 GB and 64GB internal storage variants and the US so far only has a 16GB listed. That would prob give us 8-10 usable GB for apps and DRM videos which is not much. Come on HP bring the bigger ones to the US!
See this HP forum post for more info on the 32/64 GB versions: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Androi...X2-32GB-Internal-version-spotted/td-p/2822377

The performance on this tablet is superb. It definitely beats my asus infinity tf700 (still have) and nexus 10 (which i've returned) I don't see any lag or stutter and this is what android tablets should be. Which I can't say the same about the tf700 even with cromi x rom or data2sd mod. The nexus 10 has some stutter issue as well although not as bad. Now I did have wifi issue on my first unit but HP replaced it and sent me one overnight. No more wifi issue on this one. The only gripe I have is the screen does not have a high contrast like my tf700 and it has a warmer tone to it. Also cannot get as bright as the asus. I wish though that HP went with a higher res screen as when I connect to my TV via HDMI it either zooms in too much or I can change my tv setting to "fit" but I have black bars on the side. But it is very smooth on my tv and lag and stutter free. My infinity lags when connected to my TV. Also the rear camera is crap but I never use tablet cameras anyhow. Build quality is pretty good. Keyboard is great but lacks a unlock button. But the multitouch mousepad is great. I can pinch to zoom or do anything I can do with the screen. I really hope Asus' new infinity pad will perform as well as this as this may just be a place holder till they release it.

If you buy from HP LOOK FOR COUPONS.. I got for $455

Go for a refurb Nook Color or Archos.
The tablet you showed has good specs but considering the fact that it's not a common model, you will have trouble finding,
1) rooting procedures.
2) service/repair
3) custom ROMs.
And, the one you showed looks like a Chinese tablet that have crappy hardware and software.
If you took a look at the review they said it was quite neat, and I've only heard good things about it when looking around.
It just worries me a bit, that people says 2.2 is crap and that dual core is worth **** when most things only run one one :/
Nook Color and Archos is e-reader, I don't want that :/
Only 2.3 and 3.0 tablets worth buying?
Nook is fully functional android tablet when rooted... Not just e-reader... And much better than the Chinese tablet you are looking at. A friend at work bought one of those... Very slow and lags like crazy... No good. Hope you find what works for you.

2.3 and 3.0 tablets are somewhat worth buying. Archos is not an eReader. It's a PMP/tablet. Nook Color is an eReader and so has an excellent display. Still, it's full touch and can be rooted and made to function as a real tablet.
I wouldn't really call 2.2 crap. It's good but with a Nook Color, you will be able to update to 2.3.5 using CM7.
It's sad that you are making me repeat myself, a Nook Color comes with an American warranty unlike a Chinese product which has no warranty. Even if they advertise one, you can't be sure that they will honor it 100%.
A review can be biased. On the internet, you can easily write a biased review. Nook Color has a huge modding community and, not everyone is going to be biased.
As for Archos, it's more multimedia oriented and so has a dual cam as well.
I wouldn't call dual core ****. Although not a lot of software can utilize multi-threading, you will see better software soon. It might take some time by when, your tablet would become slow and outdated. Dual core is worth it but it's not a smart choice, right now.

Nook Color does consume more battery but it has reasonable life.
Then again, it all boils down to your own priorities. If you don't mind a sub-standard Chinese product as long as it's cheap and has some cool specs, go ahead. If you want a somewhat quality product which is either little expensive or has lower specs, don't buy the model you showed.
I think I'll buy it next month, just to try out a tablet.
I can always buy something else if I like it

Even laptops are hard to upgrade hardware wise, let alone tablets.
He is talking about software. That thing runs 2.2. Most smartphones listed in have custom ROMs. Most phones that have only 2.1 officially have 2.3 ported unofficial by XDA members. He is asking if you can upgrade that device to 2.3 at least unofficially.

That looks more like a scam. It is impossible to squeeze so much power with such a low price.
What is your primary purpose for this tablet?
I would second the suggestions for Nook&Color.
Also, I hear Amazon's going to launch it's new android based eBook-centric tablet, as "Amazon Kindle" for $250. If you just want to read some ebooks, do a little surfing, and play games like Angry Birds. Then I think this tablet is for you. Keep in mind that this tablet is very ebook-oriented and NOT AT ALL like any other android based tablet. Heck, it doesn't even support some of the google services (Android market). You may want to watch out for that.

[Q] Which one should I get?

Hello guys!
I wonder if you can help me out. I live in Brazil and I want a tablet. Nexus 7 was my main choice but it doesn't supports HDMI (nor MHL) and I'll use it a lot to watch movies on my TV and stuff like that. So I came across XOOM. Seems a pretty solid tablet but I was looking around the forum and I have the following question:
Should I get Motorola XOOM Wifi (I believe it's model is Mz604) or a Morotola XOOM 2 (the one with 8.2" screen)? It seems that support for original XOOM is better or am I wrong? please help me with this one.
Thanks a lot!
I think you can go for xoom 2.

Yeah but what about JB support? I dont really want to be stuck on HoneyComb... The specs are almost the same, so I'm on a impass

just got XOOM (first model, wifi only).. should arrive by tuesday

No one should ever buy a Xoom 2.
Well, I guess it depends on what you want from your tablet.
The XOOM2 is a fine tablet if you do not have any plans on leaving ICS/Honeycomb. I don't think any XOOM2 is going to see Jellybean any time soon. However, if size is more important than performance to you, the XOOM2 might be worth it for you.
However, if size doesn't matter to you, the original XOOM WiFI (MZ604) is an excellent tablet. Even if you don't modify the tablet, the tablet is solid, fast (because there is almost NO BLOATWARE), and it has even gotten the latest Android 4.1 Jellybean (if you GEDify it if it is not a U.S XOOM). All around, I feel that the original XOOM WiFi is a great tablet, However, the price of the tablet even today can be a bit steep.
While the final decision is yours, between the XOOM and XOOM2, I would get a XOOM.

I understand. I got the XOOM because I like the 10" screen and I DO want to customize it (new kernel, new rom, etc) as I do with my Nexus S device. How can I get more infos on this GEDify process? Is it hard to do?
Thanks!
hmmm i found this http://www.simonjstuart.com/2011/07/23/gedify-your-non-us-wifi-xoom-for-n00bs/
it seems that GEDify is to install a US ROM on the tablet.. is that it?
Honestly, I traded my nexus 7 8gb for a Xoom 32gb MZ604, the quad core tegra 3 was nice and all but I use the rear camera, 32gb of memory, and expandable storage more then I do the tegra 3's performance.

Yeah.. The Nexus 7 was my first choice but the lack of HDMI kept me away from it I'm glad XOOM is almost like a Nexus device because after I got my Nexus S, I can say that I will never get an android device that isnt a GED hehe
The Nexus 7 is, by all means, a great device. But the lack of expandable storage for a device that is primarily used for media consumption is hard to get over. On my xoom, I am using about 5GB of space simply for "additional content" for games like Dead Space, GTA3, Max Payne and a few others. And thats also not taking into account the need to store video files; sure using streaming sources is convenient but what about when you have no wifi (public transit is a good example).
Lack of hdmi out is a bit annoying too, though an adapter can fix that. I'm really hoping they start a 10" Nexus series so I can have something to look forward to down the road as an upgrade to my Xoom. A 32GB internal storage option would also be nice.

I dont think there is any adapter to get HDMI to work on Nexus 7
My Xoom arrived today will get it after work.. Should I GEDify it ASAP or try the luck and see if JB is available for me without GEDifying?
If its not a wifi Xoom in the US, then its not a GED and its not going to have Jellybean yet (or any time soon, by my guess).

By the way, the nexus 7 at stock gets around 3500 on quadrant bench, my MZ604 xoom wifi only with TeamEOS 137 build gets 3000 stock, and around 4100 overclocked to 1.5ghz

Design
iNew V3 Plus iNew V3A is only 6.5mm thick which is more thinner than other smartphone including iPhone 6. The demension is 140*71*7.9 mm. Right now we have iNew V3 Plus black and white color in stock.
Screen
INEW v3 Plus features 5.0 inch 1280*720 HD Corning Gorilla Glass Screen which provides high saturation of colors and makes them pop out. OGS (one glass solution) display makes the smartphone better quality, and that’s the reason why this smartphone is so thin. Meanwhile, the screen is protected from the scratches which might occur in your pocket by Corning Gorilla Glass screen.
Camera
The main camera located on the back side has 13.0MP with flashlight and auto focus and F2.0 aperture, 28mm wide angle, which is up to 4928 x 3696 pixels resolution, supporting full screen capturing. It can shoot photos in 13 mega pixel resolution or shoot videos in 4K resolution at 30 fps. And the front camera is 5.0mp which can shoot the videos in full HD resolution.
Processor and Internal Memory
Inew V3 Plus is powered by MTK6592 1.7GHz Octa Core CPU, which provides you with the best speed. Never worry about the speed when you play or work by it. Meanwhile, it has RAM 2GB ROM 16GB internal memory. Of course, it supports 32G TF card extended. Of course, Inew this time uses the latest Android4.4 kitkat OS. which let you use your smartphone more conveniently.
Other Function
iNew V3 Plus has the other features like gesture control, which means you can save more time to open the applications. And Google play store has also been installed in the smartphone, which let you enjoy more than 700,000 apps. It also supports multilanguage , you can use your mother tongue more directly.
In all, iNew V3 Plusis very hot around the world now. After i receive the phone, i will share with you.
You have the wrong images, these are the right ones:
PS: Many sites have the wrong processor, they claim that it comes with the octacore @ 1.7Ghz but it comes with the MT6592M Octacore @ 1.4Ghz as shown in the pic above.
Just waiting to hit any Spain warehouse to buy mine, only pre sales are available :fingers-crossed:
Does someone know why they removed NFC ? It is really pity, phone overall looks amazing.
inew v3 plus
Hello. The inew v3 plus phone seems to be really interesting.
But i have questions. In your description you write about 70 000 apps thnaks to natively installed play store. But for me the google apps platefotm contains more tham 700 000 apps.
Does that nean that with inew v3 plus phone we vannot access all the google plateform apps ?
Second question, does the 6.5 mm thickness allow the 3.5 jack ?
Thanks !
Samuel
Is there any independent reviews? I am interested to buy one. It looks promising.

my Note 1 is is the 16GB version but only has 2GB for apps and 11GB remaining for storage.
my wife's moto g is 16gb and has no separate app storage so you get 13GB to use for apps and storage.

Thanks for the review, I hope that they will fix the sensors issues, because all of them are working fine in the first V3
I think we have to wait until all the bugs are fixed. It may be an isolated problem of this unit? BTW where it is available for cheap? Thanks.

[SPECS] All about Acer Iconia Tab 8 A1-840

I got this new tablet, it´s the HD version of the Acer Iconia Tab 8 A1-840. I did some research but I didn't find anything about it, except for this guide of how to root it http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-root-acer-iconia-tab-8-a1-840fhd-t2933317
The tablet is an alternative to the Dell Venue 8 or the Asus Memo Pad 7 ME176C, and it has a great price. Also, it's shape is equal to the A1-840FHD.

I noticed that the files inside the update.zip of the firmware are not compressed into .img files, like in a ROM, so I might soon create the first custom ROM which could be flasheable in stock recovery .
kitkat 4.4.2 or 4.4.4 ?
Are you sure your android version is 4.4.4 ? What time you get an update ?
Yes it's 4.4.4 and Acer has not given any date, but they said Lollipop will be released for some devices.

This was at Costco for $150.00 but with RAM 2 GB and a WUXGA 1920x1200 screen. They give the battery a Wh rating: 17. It seems to be a credible replacement for a dead Nexus 7 I have. With the better screen and the micro SD card slot. I wanted to write reviews last week but couldn't find anywhere to do it because this version is not out there yet.

I also saw this at Costco but a bar code scan did not 0887899841224 return any information about it.
My question is about the 32 GB micro SD card slot.
Is that strictly hardware limitations or can it be increased with a custom rom flash?
It would NOT read my 64 gb micro SD card when I took it from my phone and tried it on the display unit.
My beloved Asus tf101 Transformer is finally dying after so many years.

I'm sorry I can't really help you with that. I took them at their word and picked up a 32GB card. It would be great to be able to step up to 64GB though. Also I am not able to move data from a jump drive straight to the tablet. It needs to be unlocked for that to occur.
All in all for the price, its a nice deal.

Thank you for responding so quickly. Is there an actual product number from the literature that it came with?
The reviews that I looked at are over a year old and I do not believe it's the same item as they said the screen was only ok. I looked at the screen and wow that's vivid and nice.
Is the bootloader locked?
You think we will be able to root it? Custom rom it?
My Asus tf101 transformer tablet was built in 30 March 2011.
It currently has an outstanding development person that has a KITKAT 4.4.4 that's outstanding fast.
Faster than what it shipped with, AND he's working on the 2nd or 3rd version of lollipop.
On the fence here, thinking Asus or this tablet.

There aren't any reviews of this model out there only for the 1 GB RAM and a lesser screen. Here are a couple of pictures from the box. The safety instructions and such are pretty generic. (Sorry they are upside down.I am left handed and when I grab my phone camera I always take pictures upside down.)

I use SwiftKey but it sometimes has problems with Web entries like this.* I would rather use Tapatalk 2, but IMO the company that produced the Tapatalk 2 application in order to force an upgrade to their horrible ad filled product have disconnected the search for servers. I use Titanium Backup already connected with a backup set that hooked up to XDA.
I noticed the root thread at the beginning of the very first post.
but that looks like it involves hooking it up to my pc, so that will have to be tomorrow, or the weekend.

It may have been the demo model that had it sd card reader disabled.
I got root. Had to use a different laptop.
I am impressed with the standby abilities of the tablet.
My first thought was let titanium backup this baby and freeze non essential item that are running.
A moment latter thinking, well actually it's doing a great job of not loading the acer software or the other preloaded applications.

I wonder if Version B/Pro will really come with a Moorefield SoC, because not even the ZenFone 2 has a Windows 10 ROM and I think the Imagination GPU doesn't have drivers for Windows.

This would be amazing if true but exceedingly unlikely: perhaps an Atom X5 doesn't generate too much heat when crammed into a phablet-sized device? I'd pay upwards of $400 for a developer-friendly phablet with Intel HD (Broadwell/Gen8, not PowerVR) graphics. I've been waiting for a Linux-friendly Intel powered phone since before Bay Trail, and I may still be waiting a year from now unless my above fantasy pans out.
I've got Elephone P7000, it is good phone, I am really looking forward to Elephone Vowney phone.
What is the weight of Elephone Vowney
Hello,
I got confused about the weight of this phone, on website says it is 650 grams, then it will be very heavy to carry. So kindly somebody can explain some details about the exact weight of this otherwise excellent mobile.
Is the chip ' 64-bit MTK6795 CPU Octa Core' processor is faster than or equelent to Snapdragon 810?
Thanking You
Dr.saidalavi
I dont think windows rom support is correct. its not memtioned in the highlites
Am wondering about the cm12.1 support. Does this mean the sources will be out?
would be cool if the device tree is reusable to build a pletora of custom roms. Then this can have a device forum right?
would be awesome.

I saw the weight on website but I saw specs on other sites and it shows 169g. I don't think it could be 650g which more than half kg

Thank you very much for the reply,
When I read about the weight of the phone in one website, I had a bigger smiley of course on my face, and I thought it may be wrong also, as nobody can carry such a phone with them.I want to confirm it before ordering , otherwise the spec as so impressive, so I am waiting for its release. I just noticed on elephone.cc that it's now saying the 20th of August for the release date. I suppose that makes sense, at least for the Vowney Pro/version B (the one that dual boots Windows 10 and Android) since Windows 10 isn't supposed to be out until the end of July anyhow. I really hope the Pro has an Atom X5 and US LTE band support, because Elephone is the only OEM so far that has gotten me this close to being excited about my dream x86 developer phone finally being made!
Well, most preliminary information I've seen indicate that this phone will have an Atom Z3580 SoC, which contains a PowerVR GPU. Since I'm unlikely to ever get a phone, even a phablet, with tablet-class graphics, let alone one that has open source driver support for running Linux, I just gave up on getting this one and ordered myself a 64GB/4GB RAM ASUS ZenFone 2 ZE551ML, which should be arriving tomorrow. It may even be cheaper than importing a Vowney Pro at this point. I of course would love to be wrong.
Elephone Vowney is Elephone flagship phone?
They have a dedicated page for it now: http://www.elephone.cc/elephone-vowney.html
I wish it wasnt soo big! I want a 5.2" device....come one people!
they give a discount to the people who bought one of the first 5000 elephone p8000 without led.
Did we know anything about, did we know when it will be out?
Doesnt look like this will work with ATT due to bands right?
How is Windows going to run on that SoC?
