What do you think we have been trying to do?
Interested in how you got the soff model though.

Weren't we already discussing this in another thread?
I'd like to see proof of your S-OFF. Take a pic and post it.
HTCDev does **NOT** provide S-OFF, and if you've achieved it, you'll be the first person here to do it.
there....lol god damn finally i'm lucky for once...

Amazing! Sorry for doubting you. Did you happen to check if S-OFF was present before unlocking at htcdev.com? And just to be clear, you didn't run any other method beyond what's explicitly described on htcdev.com?
yes..checked it was s-on before...
I did a lot of other crap though...but it shouldn't be related...
and last night I finally want to root my phone...so may as well unlock the bootloader...too
and here this is what i got...

Nah, he said it's unbranded. So it's RUNNING on AT&T's network, but it's not an AT&T phone. As HTC has said (in not so many words), AT&T's the one that doesn't want an unlocked bootloader, it may be that Rogers doesn't have the same restrictions.

But either way it shouldn't be S-OFF should it? If it was unlocked through HTCdev it would still be S-ON.

Right. I've never heard of htcdev providing S-OFF before. Didn't do it on my One X, didn't do it on my Jetstream. This is quite curious indeed. Maybe I'll try unlocking again.

heh yeah, just looking for anything that might explain the difference. i wonder if Rogers secretly has more than one model, or maybe niceppl somehow got a dev unit by accident. There were 4 or 5 units of the HP Touchpad that made it into retail outlets with Qualcomm's development build of Android on it, so who knows.

Is it at all possible that you may have used the Nexus AIO tool to try to unlock the bootloader? i say this because this section and theres have been easy to mistake if you just CTRL + F to find the phone. I found myself in the wrong forum mistakenly :| also maybe not having the ADB version different but having a different set of tools might have something. Maybe (no offense ) you mistakenly using the wrong tool might have been a godsend!!!
can you provide us with a logcat and a whole onslaught of information about what software you used and what versions they are.
Further more, i dont know if you do this but i tend to use super tool packages as a workaround from having to download the sdk and all that since the tools are included in there. if so could you send me a list of the files you added to the folders and what they are??
Thank you so much in advance
nice!
if this is all true, then please share, this will help a lot of people, has anyone else been able to do this?
and maybe i'm being dumb, but is the at&t version very different?
Hello,
Upon many google searches I have come to believe that this phone has updated above 4.0.4.
I have complications updating so I came here with the following questions:
Did the at&t HTC one x finally get jellybean, or is that for other models?
if yes how can I update because I see get an error on the at&t software update tool, and I don't see anything in the "about" tab for updating like in other models.
Thanks
Edit: I forgot to mention I'm stock and unrooted.

According to the bootloader text, the phone was previously bootloader unlocked, and then relocked. Its probably also SuperCID, since this is the only way to unlock the bootloader on the AT&T version. Phone is also S-on.
Be aware that installing the AT&T Jellybean RUU with SuperCID + S-on will brick the phone. Advise you either change the phone back to the AT&T CID, or achieve S-off prior to running RUU or OTA or you will brick.

Yes that's correct. But doesnt the bootloader need to be unlocked to write the cid? I'd suggest unlocking the bootloader, flashing a stockish sense Rom, achieve s-off. Then run 3.18 ruu to prep for the cm install.

Interesting, so the bootloader was unlocked at some point in time, but then relocked and the CID changed back. If the phone was purchased second-hand, the seller did better due diligence than most would.

Rumrunner S-off for HTC One XL!
Firstly let me say that this isn't my own work, all credit goes to @beaups and @Fuses for bringing this to our device.
Rumrunner is a new method for achieving s-off on HTC devices. This method does not require SuperCID like Facepalm, the only requirement on your device is root and an unlocked bootloader.
So, all you people that took the latest update from HTC that gave you write protection on the 2.15 firmware/hboot, this method should give you s-off.
This is just a simple thread to get this method some exposure for users with our device. As per the licensing section on the site and beaup's wishes I cannot include the download or instructions in this thread. However, we can have this thread serve as a troubleshooting/help location for the One XL. Alternatively, support for rumrunner s-off is available at #rumrunners on the freenode and andirc networks. Please make sure you meet all of the requirements before contacting support.
Rumrunner S-off.
Please go give beaups and Fuses a bunch of thanks for their work!

This does wipe system correct?
I haven't tested it myself as I got s-off on my phone ages ago. Best thing to do would be to backup anything that's important. Please report back with your findings.

YEAHHH, u' re rock rumrunner, success to s-off for my telstra one x hboot 2.15, but why my cid is still TELST001 ?? no problem if i try to flashing any rom ??
Your CID is still TELST001 because you've never gotten SuperCID. Rumrunner gives you s-off but it doesn't change your CID. Now that you have s-off you can change your CID manually as many times as you want by using this command:
Code:
fastboot oem writecid xxxxxxxx
The x's there represent the new CID, if you want SuperCID it will be 11111111 (eight 1's).

Hey tim, i am SO stoked to see that this has been released.. just having some issues getting through the process, the usb drivers are updated, the adb connection is working, i tested the connection before running rumrunner, the phone itself resets through the first test, it loads into fastboot, then resets a second time into android os, at which point it has the error 'must ferment longer.... must sanitize, skunky rum is nasty. hold please...' then it just says press enter to exit no s off.. i am ruing kickroidXL v3.0.0 which runs adroid 4.2.2 sense 5.0 and obviously im on hboot 2.15. perhaps if i restore my original system image i will have some more luck?
attached is a screenshot of my rumrunner shell
You could try restoring your backup, or flashing back to an Android 4.1 ROM and attempt it again. I'm not sure whether either of those will help but it's worth a shot. If you don't have any luck you can contact the guys for support on freenode or andirc.

Hilariously sarcastic! But it provides a great illustration. I think one time someone stated they were losing signal without providing details... My response was something like "are you underwater in a submarine... At 20,000 feet in an airplane?"
But to add to timmaaa's response, the more details you provide the more beneficial our responses will be, and will also keep us from running around in circles trying to figure out your problem.

So I was restoring to a RUU a while ago in an attempt to get S-Off. Well it didn't work out and it failed half-way during RUUing.
When I connect the computer, Windows detects it as "QHSUSB_DLOAD". Parallels detects it as a "Qualcomm Composite" device and I can tell Ubuntu and OS X is detecting it by running dmesg. I've tried two unbricking methods on Ubuntu, am I doing something wrong? I just wanna be able to be able to turn it on and have it working. Can someone help me?

You've bricked your phone, it's very well documented within our forum that s-on + SuperCID + jb RUU = brick. Your only option now is to have a jtag repair done unfortunately. Out of interest, what made you think you needed to (or could) run that RUU in other to get s-off, or before having s-off?
PS. I see now that only after bricking your phone are you reading the PSA that states not to run that RUU while s-on. It's a bit late now, but this is case in point why research needs to be done before the fact.

There's no need for a link, it's the 3.18.at&t RUU that bricks phones if they're s-on + SuperCID.

I cannot remember because it's been quite a while before I attempted this, but I followed a Tutorial on xda of how to do s-off.
----edit
and I didn't believe I could obtain S-Off through just running the ruu, according to the post I read it had to be done. Also I remember resetting my CID (if that's even possible). I did something with it before doing this as the post said to do so.
I hate to say it, but there isn't a single tutorial within our forum that states you need to run that RUU in order to get s-off, I know because I've read every single thread in our forum and am experienced with this device. The only mention of this RUU in regards to s-off is to avoid it if you're s-on, because clearly it bricks s-on devices.

What do you mean you did "something" with it? Did you even check your CID after supposedly resetting it? Your "if that's even possible" statement doesn't really instill much confidence that you really knew what you were doing at the time.

Alright, could you point me in the right direct for jtag repair? Or to buy the tools to do it myself? I wanna learn this type of thing because I may get a job repairing phones soon. (which it's really just replacing screens but I'd like the knowledge anyway)

Well I'm pretty sure it was reset but since you said the only way to fix it was through jtag repair, I figured it wasn't possible and what I read wasn't true (since you seem to be an active member and know what you're talking about)
I wouldn't suggest you even attempt doing a jtag repair unless you're already well versed in the process. In the US it should only cost you about $50 through xda user zarboz.

So you didn't actually check the CID after the attempt to reset it?

I remember the CID said to be what it was supposed to be. I wouldn't have attempted the RUU if I wasn't for sure I was doing it exactly like the post said. I wish I could find the post, it's been a while since I've attempted this. The only reason I didn't really work on it after I bricked it was I got caught up in doing other things and I forgot about it.
Ok, well if your CID did indeed revert to the original CID there's no logical reason why the RUU would brick your phone. You could have just gotten very unlucky, it's very rare but an RUU can brick a device for seemingly no reason. Contact zarboz and enquire about him doing a jtag for you, he's a good guy. If you can find that post/thread though it'd be great, I'm very curious to see what it says.

When you get your phone back, hit me up in my help thread (in my signature) if you need to get anything done, I'm always happy to help.

Alright thanks! I'm actually debating on if I should go through with this. $50 is a great price but it also has a crack in the screen and I was intending on eventually selling it.
I'm not sure if after getting it repaired via jtag and replacing the screen that it'll even be worth my time in the long run ha
But I'll keep this guy in mind, let's say my Galaxy S4 gets in a similar situation (gosh I hope not, I'll take more precautions from here on out) but incase it does can he repair all phone brands that need jtag-repaired?
You'd have to ask him which models he supports, I'm not sure.

I'd suggest contacting HTC as well just in case. I had a QHSUSB_DLOAD brick & I called them and they fixed it for me. I know another user here who had similar results with a bricked device. I called and told them it cut off and wouldn't cut back on. They completely reset the phone, but all I had to pay for was shipping.
