Hello,
Upon many google searches I have come to believe that this phone has updated above 4.0.4.
I have complications updating so I came here with the following questions:
Did the at&t HTC one x finally get jellybean, or is that for other models?
if yes how can I update because I see get an error on the at&t software update tool, and I don't see anything in the "about" tab for updating like in other models.
Thanks
Edit: I forgot to mention I'm stock and unrooted.

Power off phone and press volume down and power back up without releasing the volume down button. That gets you into bootloader. What's it say in there?

According to the bootloader text, the phone was previously bootloader unlocked, and then relocked. Its probably also SuperCID, since this is the only way to unlock the bootloader on the AT&T version. Phone is also S-on.
Be aware that installing the AT&T Jellybean RUU with SuperCID + S-on will brick the phone. Advise you either change the phone back to the AT&T CID, or achieve S-off prior to running RUU or OTA or you will brick.

Yes that's correct. But doesnt the bootloader need to be unlocked to write the cid? I'd suggest unlocking the bootloader, flashing a stockish sense Rom, achieve s-off. Then run 3.18 ruu to prep for the cm install.

Interesting, so the bootloader was unlocked at some point in time, but then relocked and the CID changed back. If the phone was purchased second-hand, the seller did better due diligence than most would.

Nah, he said it's unbranded. So it's RUNNING on AT&T's network, but it's not an AT&T phone. As HTC has said (in not so many words), AT&T's the one that doesn't want an unlocked bootloader, it may be that Rogers doesn't have the same restrictions.

Is it at all possible that you may have used the Nexus AIO tool to try to unlock the bootloader? i say this because this section and theres have been easy to mistake if you just CTRL + F to find the phone. I found myself in the wrong forum mistakenly :| also maybe not having the ADB version different but having a different set of tools might have something. Maybe (no offense ) you mistakenly using the wrong tool might have been a godsend!!!
can you provide us with a logcat and a whole onslaught of information about what software you used and what versions they are.
Further more, i dont know if you do this but i tend to use super tool packages as a workaround from having to download the sdk and all that since the tools are included in there. if so could you send me a list of the files you added to the folders and what they are??
Thank you so much in advance
nice!
if this is all true, then please share, this will help a lot of people, has anyone else been able to do this?
and maybe i'm being dumb, but is the at&t version very different?
hey i bought phone and it was rooted running cyanogen ,ive been looking all over on how to unroot ,but i have no idea can someone please help. if some one can help me with a walk through id appreciate and will donate

Another critical question is "why?"

Prepare to sell. That's why. Totally legitimate reason. Average consumer does't need lot.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
You need to make sure it's s-off, then you can run an RUU and relock the bootloader.
Sent from my Evita
Selling an S-off device to an unknowing consumer is not the best idea.
Probably better to change the CID back to the correct CID (if device is presently SuperCID), then run the RUU. Be aware that running the RUU with SuperCID will brick the phone.

I never implied that your reason was not legitimate. Just needed more info to properly answer the question.
For instance, lots of people here ask how to unroot for warranty purposes. Which if returning to AT&T, is not necessary.
The new update for the One XL came out a few weeks ago, and I updated my phone, before the update, my phone was s-off, now, its s-on D:

Turn off your phone, and when you want to turn it on, hold down the power button and the Volume Down button. And then you will enter bootloader mode. The top left tells you whether your bootloader is unlocked or not (*UNLOCKED* or *LOCKED*) If there is a *TAMPERED* above it, it means that your phone is rooted

You sure? Its very unusual for an update to have changed the security flag. Has anyone else that has updated to Sense 5 experienced this?
Root for any version except AT&T (US) is the same as before just unlock the bootloader via htcdev.com, install custom recovery, and flash SU or a rooted ROM.
Since your bootloader is unlocked, that step does not need to be done. To find TWRP just look at my Index thread sticky at the top of the General forum; or just look in Development.
If you want s-off again, then SuperCID (if not any longer) and try the facepalm exploit again. I don't know if anyone has verified if it still works after the Sense 5 update. But if not, the only way to find out, is to try it . . .

Build numbers is not the same as CID. Build number just refers to the Android version (such as 4.0.1).
You are rooted? How are you checking CID?
The proper way would be the command (as noted in the guide): fastboot oem readcid

Rumrunner S-off for HTC One XL!
Firstly let me say that this isn't my own work, all credit goes to @beaups and @Fuses for bringing this to our device.
Rumrunner is a new method for achieving s-off on HTC devices. This method does not require SuperCID like Facepalm, the only requirement on your device is root and an unlocked bootloader.
So, all you people that took the latest update from HTC that gave you write protection on the 2.15 firmware/hboot, this method should give you s-off.
This is just a simple thread to get this method some exposure for users with our device. As per the licensing section on the site and beaup's wishes I cannot include the download or instructions in this thread. However, we can have this thread serve as a troubleshooting/help location for the One XL. Alternatively, support for rumrunner s-off is available at #rumrunners on the freenode and andirc networks. Please make sure you meet all of the requirements before contacting support.
Rumrunner S-off.
Please go give beaups and Fuses a bunch of thanks for their work!

YEAHHH, u' re rock rumrunner, success to s-off for my telstra one x hboot 2.15, but why my cid is still TELST001 ?? no problem if i try to flashing any rom ??
Your CID is still TELST001 because you've never gotten SuperCID. Rumrunner gives you s-off but it doesn't change your CID. Now that you have s-off you can change your CID manually as many times as you want by using this command:
Code:
fastboot oem writecid xxxxxxxx
The x's there represent the new CID, if you want SuperCID it will be 11111111 (eight 1's).

Hey tim, i am SO stoked to see that this has been released.. just having some issues getting through the process, the usb drivers are updated, the adb connection is working, i tested the connection before running rumrunner, the phone itself resets through the first test, it loads into fastboot, then resets a second time into android os, at which point it has the error 'must ferment longer.... must sanitize, skunky rum is nasty. hold please...' then it just says press enter to exit no s off.. i am ruing kickroidXL v3.0.0 which runs adroid 4.2.2 sense 5.0 and obviously im on hboot 2.15. perhaps if i restore my original system image i will have some more luck?
attached is a screenshot of my rumrunner shell
You could try restoring your backup, or flashing back to an Android 4.1 ROM and attempt it again. I'm not sure whether either of those will help but it's worth a shot. If you don't have any luck you can contact the guys for support on freenode or andirc.

Please take the time to read the website before asking questions. Yes, it should work.

cool....I already have S-Off, but this looks to be even easier than the previous method (though even that wasn't very difficult). Glad to see more options out there for achieving S-Off.

FATAL: Download updated package at
I'm on CM 10.2 nightly 10-26-13
I never was able to get s-off using the facepalm method either.
I'm on an at&t evita, so I used the universal package.
Not sure if it'll work but you could try again but flash a Sense ROM first.

What ROM were you running when you attempted it?

Tried it on kickdroid 3.0 to no avail, so flashes old backup of my stock 4.2.2 sense 5 Rom, still no luck

I'm guessing you couldn't get a hold of the guys on freenode or andirc. I had someone earlier who it took a few attempts for it to work. So you've only attempted it on Android 4.2.2 ROMs? Have you tried with an Android 4.1 / Sense 4 ROM?
