HELP! Was trying to get better GPS fix and now I have no data or sim - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi all,
I just rooted and flashed Dandroid 3.9 rom and noticed the GPS wasnt working right.
I then tried that GPS fix that was recommended by harshaedvern:
1)Enter service mode by typing this code into the dial pad *#197328640#
2)go to Mainmenu>UMTS>Common>NV REBUILD>NV REBUILD (DO NOT LEAVE THIS SCREEN)
Wait 1 min
hold power and select reboot
check GPS upon boot.
Now I have no data, calls don't work. My phone is bricked.
PLEASE HELP! I am on VZW wireless

tried nv rebuild
I just tried NV rebuild via droidmodderx but it crashed at 15% and reboots the phone. Cannot do it.
Anyone know?

Same problem with no text and no voice after NV Rebuild

I have also gone back to stock with ODIN. My SIM is working since I have another phone where I can test it on.

I don't know if this will help, but this sounds similar to a problem we had on one of my old phones (samsung continuum). We got a GB leak (verizon left us for dead on froyo) but we had to backup the network programming before we flashed the leak. A few people (myself included ) didn't get the backup done correctly and lost all network connectivity; no calls, text, or data. I called verizon and they got the calls and text working by having me manually enter some of the info, but couldn't get data to work. They sent me a new phone. Another user found out that if you activate another phone on your line (can even be an old feature phone you have laying around) then reactivate the jacked up phone, it would reprogram everything OTA and work fine. A few others got it working the same way. Just a thought... Good luck!

Reprovision your phone.
*2767*3855# (It will completely wipe you back to factory). It's been known to fix no data/roaming issues if your IMEI is intact.
That fixed it. Thanks a million.

Would reprovisioning your phone with this number also fix the roaming issue people have been experiencing when restoring a lost IMEI using QPST?

Hey Guys....
Earlier today, I had a rooted, unlocked, CM10 ROM Galaxy S3 that was working fine. I updated to the latest nightly, that unfortunately wiped out my Google settings, meaning my contacts were gone, and I couldn't access the Play Store.
Long story short, after recovering back to stock, now I can't connect to the network. My phone says I'm connected under Verizon, but I can't dial out or send any text messages. Please help! I'm starting to panic.

I too had this problem after updating to CM10.1, my solution was as follows.
1. Odin back to stock image (I used Root66 stock image with SU)
2. Re-provision your phone by dialing *2767*3855#
3. Now you'll need to Un lock your bootloader. Open Play store, search and install VZW GS3 EZ-Unlock (Bootloader), unlock it
4. I use TWRP recovery, easy way to install it is by going to the play store and search up GooManager, once you install it open it and under settings go to install openrecoveryscript
Once you've done the above you should be able to install a new updated rom. Hope that helps.
A Little Help Please
I am having a bad feeling about what I have done to my S3. Fri. I was rooting my phone and trying different ROM's. When I installed the CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightly, I noticed that my phone started showing that it was roaming (with the triangle above the bars). So I put the phone back to stock and it was still showing roaming. I haven't been able to get it out since then. I tried putting my wife's SIM in the phone but it still doesn't work, and my SIM works in her phone. I have followed the instructions that SeniorOne posted and no luck. When I type the code in to provision it doesn't do anything. It doesn't look like the phone as lost the IMEI, because when I look at the "About Phone" section it still shows it there and is the same one that is on the box that it came in. I have installed the CyanogenMod again and I am hoping that I can get this fixed and that I haven't bricked it. I am pretty new with the S3 and moding it, but I have looked up and down XDA's site to see if I find anything but haven't.
Thanks,
Kiefmer
You need to use the dialer code in the earlier versions of ICS. Root66 works. Also have you went into mobile networks and changed your subscription type to sim?

Thank you very much! I changed the subscription type in CyanogenMod and that worked. The signal seems to be a little weaker than before, but we will give it a try and see how it works out. Thank you again!!!

Sorry to kick a dead thread, but can you elaborate on what you mean by this? I'm having the same symptoms of the activation codes not doing anything at all. I tried on a fresh ODIN flash with no results, and am going to be submitting a warranty claim if I can't get the device to come alive by tomorrow. Thanks in advance

[Q] Need help : Com.Android.Phone failed

I have a Verizon S III (Stock, Rooted). I was travelling internationally with it and was using it on GSM (using HiAPN app). It was working fine and then Com.Android.Phone failed msg popped up. I lost outgoing calls due to that. I tried various things and ended up doing factory reset. Now when the phone powers up it tries to activate and fails as I still get the com, android,,phone failed error. I also flash JB rom but I still get the same msg.
Any suggestions in this situation?

Did you do a full wipe and flash the latest JB rom or just re-flash the JB rom and leave your settings/apps intact?
Did you switch your sim when you went global? Did you switch some phone settings? Did you use a program to alter your APN (?) settings? What did you do to go global?
If yes to any of the above -- that's probably why. You need to be more informative in your post. Your post as is basically says nothing.

Yes, I used a local SIM card. I used a program called HiAPN to switch APN settings and changed the network from CDMA/LTE to GSM/WCDMA preferred. ,

I did a full wipe and flashed the CM10.1 nightly released for the d2vzw this morning. When it rebooted I had no cell service. Looking in settings i have the proper IMEI number but my cell number is listed as 000-000-1361, MIN is 1361, PRL is 1. what can I do to fix it? I tried restoring a nandroid but the result is the same. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Any one try Odin back to stock?
I have a similar issue and I have been going around and around with it without any luck. I restored my latest backup and I still have 000-000-3257 with a PRL of 1. I will try the ops recommendation and will report back.
Odin to stock is my next move unless someone else can think of something else to try.
Try clearing dalvik cache in recovery. Fixed it for me on AOKP. Had the exact same thing where my phone number was a bunch of zeroes. Still had service though when I hit the home button to bypass the activation screen.

I tried to remove the sim, and boot, and readd the sim and boot but no go. I will try it again but then I think I am going back to stock to see if that works.
Everything still works fine. No need to get worried......it just doesn't report your phone number accurately. Its not like it actually effects functionality. I ran it with an f'ed phone number for 3 days. Everything ran fine. Don't sweat it. If its a problem, wait until tomorrows official nightly comes out tonight and you'll be set.

My issue is it is affecting my functionality. My phone is not working and whenever I call out I get a generic message saying my phone is not active.
I restored a backup from when I first rooted. Now my phone number is listed properly and when I get into a 4G coverage area I can get data, but I still can't call out and it shows I am roaming when I am in a 3G area.
OP on CM10.1 says that dirty flashing Unofficial 10.1 build 12/17/12 will restore data. Any luck with this fix?

I was very unlucky and the dirty flash didnt work for me. However, I did have a backup of my IMEI and was able to flash it back to my phone.
I ran into the same problem after flashing 10.1... lost IMEI and stuck on roaming, had no backup.
To fix it i did the following
1) Odin back to stock
2) use this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867442
3) reprovish the phone using this code in the dialer *2767*3855#
IMEI restored and no longer on roaming

THANK YOU!. I could not get the IMEI/ERI tool to work, but I did get *2767*3855# code to work. I had to roll back to a older version of the official rom (I think rolling back the radio would have been OK) but I am not up and working.

I flashed back to stock as well and then used the same number to reprovision. After that everything worked fine it fixed the roaming, incorrect number, PRL, and all. I never lost my IMEI so I didnt do that step. but if you flash back to the cm 10.1 before they fix the data it will happen again

Rooted my phone, flashed it back to stock, can't make/recieve calls or texts

Last night I flashed CM10.1 nightly, which had a data/signal issue. Due to that, I reflashed stock with the program, Odin. However, now back on stock, I can't recieve/make calls or texts. It says that it is "dialing" and after a while, it will say "Out of Service". My 4g LTE symbol shows and it shows that I have service as well.

I had the same issues, no calls or data. If you switch to RUI/SIM under cell subscription, you SHOULD get calls and SMS back. I'm on vacation with no access to a PC. I had an old CM nightly, 6/21, on my SD card. Flashed that and all was back. Very weird.
