[Q] Cannot reboot in recovery mode, home touch button is not working either - General Questions and Answers

I think I'm in big trouble. Yesterday I accidentally uninstalled few of motorola's inbuilt software through Link2SD. I have Motorola Fire XT 311 (rooted). Now I cannot see anything on my screen. The phone is working fine but without any screen functions. I thought I would do a factory reset by pressing Volume keys and Power button. That lands me to a blank screen saying "Enter in recovery mode". After few seconds this screen changes with Android with exclamation mark irrespective of what I press.
My problem:
1) Cannot see my screen when phone is working
2) The home key is not working
3) I cannot turn on USB debugging
Question:
1) Did I close all my ways to restore my phone?
2) Do we have any way to factory reset my phone with the help of my computer?
Please answer otherwise this blunder will cost me a new phone

Thanks prantoroy for you prompt reply. I do not have adb drivers. Thanks for the links. The tool link is not working. I'm in the office and will try these once get the chance.
Do you think I can factory reset my phone from my computer without even touching it? This could be a live save then!
Regards,
Sohan

I just tried to follow your instructions but no success. Your tool's link is not working I tried to wipe from this tool "Android Multi Tools_1.0 By azimbahar ( One-Man) Parvez". While selecting option #8 it stops with "waiting device". My phone was turned on while doing all these things.
Am I doing right? Please suggest

stuck on Google logo

After updating around 20 apps (altogether ), I noticed the phone was not functioning normally so I tried to reboot it but now it is stuck on Google logo. I've never unlocked the phone nor used any custom roms. I'm on the latest stock rom 2.3.4
I tried removing the battery and putting it back but didn't work. Vol. up + power and then Recovery didn't work either. It gives me a triangle with ! in it and stops right there.
I also tried the USB Jig that forces the phone into downloading mode but it gave me a screen that asks (Unlock bootloader?) with some warnings but I don't know how to accept that. Niether Vol buttons nor Power button worked there
I didn't want to mess up with the phone until I hear from you guys. Please help
up.......
You might have to actually root it or use the Samsung exe back to factory. That is if you don't want to mess with it because if I ware in your position I'd be going back for a new phone. You did nothing wrong and you have 1 year warranty on it.
FYI, the triangle with ! actually is recovery. The UI is hidden until you hold power and press vol down.

Thanks man, I didn't know about that
Is wiping the data (factory reset) going to delete my stuff stored on my SD card? like pic., music, vid. etc?
and do I need to actually wipe the data or will wiping the chache only work?
Factory reset reverts your phone back to the way it was when you got it.
That means all your account settings, device settings, installed applications etc are gone. Everything stored on your SD card will remain there - it's a different storage. The good thing about our Google phones is that you only have to login to Google once and all your stuff is back.
You can try wiping the cache first and see if that works, it won't harm anything. But if that doesn't work, I'm sure a factory reset will.
Good luck.

Can you connect your device to your computer via USB and start "adb logcat" at the Terminal/Command prompt? Does it give you any kind of readout at all?

One thing you should consider is just returning the phone, especially if you never flashed or rooted or unlocked bootloader.

No. The device doesn't even show up when I type "adp devices"
Is there anything else I should try?
Thanks
I can perform things with Fastboot
I don't want to root or unlock the phone. Is there anything else I can do?
I tried typing Fastboot update update.zip after downloading the stock rom update 2.3.4 and putting it in the SDK tools directory but it gave me the msg "faild to upload update.zip"

Need help getting to stock recovery

Need help...
Was messing the around with the screen density in the buildprop.. after reboot, "systemui keeps FCing" making it unusable and I cant do anything. Attempting to do a hard button combo to go into stock recovery but cant seems to get it to work.. Googleing tells me to, hold volume down and power till the LG logo, release power and rehold again.. it just reboots again.. holding all 3 brings me to a korean menu that I cant read.. holding up and power brings me to a recovery menu that I think only the service centre can use, there's no option in there, only asking me to reboot.
Any kind souls please....

I've been trying to get into my stock recovery for some time now trying all sorts of button combos but to no avail. Previously I had the g2 and when it updated from jellybean to kitkat, the combo for entering stock recovery changed however, this new combo doesn't seem to work on the G Pro 2 either
You should be able to revive your device back to stock using the LG pc Suite however, after tampering with the system, it is often necessary to perform a factory reset after the pc suite has done it's work which will need you to enter stock recovery.
If you are completely stuck, I would suggest restoring your device using the pc suit and, all being well, your device will boot sufficiently for you to perform a reset through the phone settings menu. If you are really lucky, it may boot properly and you may not need to perform any reset however, it would still probably be a good idea to do so.

I had tried everything.. Even adb command to reboot into recovery. It just brings me to a broken Android with red triangle. I am starting to think there is no stock recovery built in that is accessible to users..
I am now at the service centre. Well the guy can detect that its rooted.. voids warranty.... But will try to see if he can help to reflash the firmware.. If not have to change hardware and will be chargeable....... Fingers crossed. He did say users are not able to access the recovery..
Guys.. Until there's custom recovery, pls dun mess with it.....
That is really bad. I am stuck at bootloop and unable to reach the recovery mode. I wonder how entire web just talks about a hardreset process that doesnt even work

Glad you were able to get your phone back. I have some positive news. I am trying out a recovery method as we speak. Using the LG Software update & USB driver tool I found the option for a update recovery. So I gave the IMEI and it prompted for a connection to the device which wasnt there as the phone is stuck in a boot loop. So I thought if it is going to restore the firmware from PC ( and not OTA) then it at some point of time will take the phone to download mode. So I just put the phone in download mode and VOILA it recognised the connection. And right now it is downloading the recovery firmware. The firmware being downloaded is around 1.5GB which is exactly what size I expected it to be. I have my fingers crossed. Just hope it goes through fine.

As I mentioned in an earliar post on this thread, you can usually get the device into a booting state using the lg pc suite. You will probably have to perform a factory reset but, hopefully, after using the tool, you can access the software factory reset in the settings menu. From past experience with other lg devices, it can often help if you run the recovery more than once in the pc suite.

Hi Bob,
Yes I think the same option is there in the LG PC Suite as well. But unless you do what I have tried to do it wont recognise a device that has not booted yet. Devices soft-bricked or bootlooping wont be recognised by the PC suite for recovery. But thanks for the tip. I'd keep that in mind and see if it'd need another factory reset after recovery. But it seems like it will be a hard reset done by the recovery happening right now

Good luck. If no joy just try the pc suit. I'm fairly sure I had a success on my old g2 with a similar problem to yours. Can't remember exactly what I did but I kept trying things and eventually the pc suit recognised and sorted my device. Perhaps try to adb reboot recovery with the pc suit on screen??
PC suite and the software update thing didn't work for me. It just refuse to recognize my device. Hope things work out for u!

Thanks. I was able to revive my phone. No loss of apps and data. Just the root was lost. Can you tell me what issues you have witnessed after such a recovery that made you to do a factory reset? The phone looks fine at the moment but wonder if it'd end up in a boot loop again.

You shouldn't have a problem. I just like to have a clean start and to make sure that there are no alien files left from my previous tampering.

Phone won't boot up

I was trying wipe everything on the phone but for some reason it saids no OS. So when it boots up, I only see the google word on the screen.
Trying to flash the stock rom, followed instruction to install adb drivers...etc then boot the phone into fastboot mode,. This is the one screen I can get so far. Looks like my pc can't detect my phone. it saids failed when running those commands...Can someone give me a hint what to do next?
All I want is to put the stock rom back in.

you didnt wipe data, you wiped your system partition, wiped the rom off your phone. and that screenshot is the stock recovery. you need to boot into the bootloader to flash the factory img(stock). the bootloader is the same as fastboot mode.
I did wipe data. I remember I checked that box
I also got this error in the command line.

before you tried any code.. did you do "fastboot devices" first, to make sure fastboot sees your phone?
also, sounds like you used twrp recovery. if you just swipe on the wipe screen, it wipes your partitions. if you chose advanced, then it gives you a list of things to wipe, then all you'd do is choose data and wipe.
I power down the phone, hit vol down + power. And I see the Fastboot mode
I connected the usb cable to my pc, but when I ran the code, it saids device not found. My pc can't see it
Now I am not using twrp at all just want to at least have the fastboot mode see my pc. but it is not.
Any other step i can make the phone communicate to my pc ?

you're going to have to install that driver first, before it'll see your phone. you are using windows? try koushes universal adb driver for windows http://www.koushikdutta.com/post/universal-adb-driver
I did. I installed it. I have tried different drivers.
If I goto device manager, Android Device and under that it saids "Android Bootloader Interface".
I don't see anything saying Nexus or so.

If everything else fails try lg flashtool as a plan B. Link in my signagure.
Will try everything you say. Also this is a screen capture.
When I put the phone in fastboot mode, I notice this pops up under device manager (screen shot)
So does it mean it detects the phone right? But for some reason when I run the command code, it saids device not found.

It means you installed the drivers right.
Reboot your PC, try other USB port, close any unecessary apps in the background, avoid USB3.0 ports or run the flash-all.bat in administrator mode. These are the ideas that have come into my mind in this moment.
Oh by the way I was following your link.
RIght now my phone has the screen firmware update. do not unplug.. the usb connection until the process is complete....
Then follow the rest of your instructions.
Now how do I Enter your phone to Download Mode. ? Right now still with this screen "Firmware update".

I f up

My twrp is gone after an ota update on my sailfish. So I thought I'll tried out flashify because I don't have a pc or a laptop. For some reason I thought that flashify can install twrp back. I tried to install it using flashify but it says it ran to a problem, so my stupid brain decide to I flash gapps first using the app because I have deleted some of the gapps. I deleted google playstore with the gmscore. Then my phone stucked on a bootloop, so I did a factory reset and my phone did reboot but now I'm stuck on the android setup which cannot open without google playstore. (f'in great) I cant reboot to bootloader and I cant connect to pc with usb debugging (greatest thing that can happen) Now, does anybody know how to fix this?
Edit: you know maybe im a genius, i fix it by myself
1. Boot to bootloader (mine work again after I type adb reboot bootloader on the terminal. Volume down + power button
2. I tried to reboot to lineage recovery but apparently it seems to ignore it so I flash twrp fastboot flash (I drag my twrp file here)
3. On twrp I reboot to recovery to get to lineage is recovery
4. I tapApply update and the From adb
5. On the terminal I type adb sideload (I drag lineage system file here)
4. And that's it,

Hey there, what happens when you try to get into the bootloader?
I don't want to be rude but next time please refrain from using unconventional methods because these may not give you the results you want if you don't know how to use them correctly. Also, Gapps packages are only meant to be used on custom ROMs that don't bring any Google apps by default.

Hey there, to access the bootloader you have to press Power + Volume Down for a few seconds. Try that.

Hey aL, that's good to hear. As I've told you before, I think you should stick to normal flashing methods just so you can be sure of what you're doing.
Also, it would be nice if you can post a little walkthrough of what you've done to get your device working again as it can be useful if anyone else reads this thread looking for a solution. Do not forget to contact a mod so it can be closed after a solution is posted.

SM-A207F - How to fix bootloop?

I was following the instructions from here trying to root my s20+ Plus sm-a207f and everything going fine until I had to do a reboot and now my phone is a bootloop and a I keep getting a error message about flashing the wrong binarie . Can someone tell me how to bypass this message to get into recovery to do a factory reset and wipe the cache? Is there a tool that I can install on my pc that would do a reset... Would a abd command do it? I am a very sick man that has rapidly progressing COPD with about 25% of my lungs that is still working. So any and all help i will be truly grateful for...tyvm. I really need my phone.
Hint: Replace this thread's absolutely senseless title by SM-A207F - How to fix bootloop ?

Have you tried to do a hard reset with the device itself?

If a Bixby button isn't present then it should be obvious that you can't boot phone into recovery by means of additionally pressing the Bixby button - 3 buttons press method.
You have to boot into phone's recovery by means of ADB
Code:
adb devices
adb reboot recovery
what requires phone is connected to PC via USB and USB-debugging got enabled on phone.
