Hard Keyboard? - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am thinking of jumping over to the Razr Maxx HD from my current Droid 4, and am wondering if there is any recommended keyboard for Razr Maxx HD, like a bluetooth keyboard perhaps?
I really really like feeling the buttons that I press instead of on a touchscreen..

Get a photon q?

Honestly I looked having a physical keyboard but one you move to fully touch screen you wouldn't go back. Especially with apps like Google Keyboard that have extremely responsive swipe functions

I used to have a droid 4 also, when I had it, I considered going to a touch screen only device, and enabled Swype on my device and tried using it more and more.
My recommendation is not to stick to a qwerty phone, you can get a lot more with a lot of other hardware vendors out there.
Try to prepare yourself by using the touchscreen more often and see if you can live with it more.
I think keyboard phones are on the way out. Plus you type a lot faster on Swype than on a qwerty phone.

Gotta try SwiftKey keyboard. It's in the play store

I came from a htc desire z and before that an e71 both with full physically qwerty keyboards so I was worried about get a razr HD but the transition wasn't too bad, I've been able to cope by using a good soft keyboard (ai keyboard) the stock android one I found rubbish. I also use a full size apple Bluetooth keyboard which pairs perfectly with the razr HD which I leave on my desk at work.

Hardware Camera Key

Folks, I've a question.
Am I the only one who misses the good old days when phones used to have proper hardware camera keys on upper right corner (in landscape) where they're supposed to be?
I've searched and searched but can't find the reason or inspiration to get rid of that. Is it just that we're going towards a fully mechanical keyless device evolution?
Not happy about that!
What do poeple think?
My sidekick 4g has one and it came out only a year or two ago.

That's an exception
Most HTCs are without it.
And my 10 posts are up. I can now post in dev threads.
Xperia S came in March and it have it.

My G2 has one and it is very useful, but just recently flashed a rom that has touch to focus and lately haven't use the hardware button that much, the one x, s, and galaxy s3 will have the option of taking pictures while shooting video so there is an excuse of not having the button
Atrix doesn't but atrix 2 does. I like camera buttons. It feels much more like a camera.

Amaze has one as well. But I'm also frustrated that they seem to be doing away with it.

My Droid had one. My current Droid x has one. My upcoming razr maxx has one.

Sorry to piss in your puddle but the Maxx doesn't have a physical camera button.

Seems kind of pointless to have a hardware camera key these days. Because of the touch screen. And also the size of my One X plays a big role in that too.

You bastard! ooh well. I thought the review I watched showed one. Thanks.
My Dell Venue too has a hardware button
If you still have buttons on your phone you can remap them to be the camera key.

Rather than having a specific camera key (after all, not everyone uses the camera) it would be more useful to have one or two wakeup keys, for which the user can target whichever apps he wants.
There are MODS for that. Example: HERE for Droid Charge.
sony xperia pro, not even a hardware camera key, also hardware keyboard. Feel's so good when you can actually USE the display, and don't have to use half of it for onscreen keyboard.
I use to like using the hardware camera button on my G2, but for some reason when I do use it the picture comes out blurry due to the force needed to depress the button. I found it much easier to use the touch screen to take the picture. But that's probably user error? I'm hopeful.....
SE Xepria X10a- Has one
Samsung Captivate (i897)- Nope
Motorola Atrix 2- Has one
HTC Vivid- Nope
But I do miss the actual hardware key, though touching the screen to focus is cool, somewhat miss that "click" feeling.....
I wouldn't mind a hardware key. It makes it a lot easier to open the camera quickly from any app which is good if you only have a few seconds to capture a shot.

imho
in my opinion when the screen gets bigger and the phone has less hardware buttons, like the new one x it is more than useful to have a f'king camera button.
thats the thing i really like on the windows phone 7 phones and missing on the android side.

Using the infinity's keyboard for games

I think the infinity's natural affinity p) with a compatible hardware dock gives it immense potential, not just for work but for gaming as well. Has anyone found any way to use the keyboard for games, much like on a laptop or pc? I tried it out on gta3 since it was supposed to be a direct pc port but only the arrow keys worked, not wasd keys. Anyone has any idea how to utilize the keyboard hardware for gaming? I believe gingerbread was the first to bring native support for hardware controllers and the such, so I think it's definitely possible.

Yeah, this would be awesome. Being able to use a mouse and keyboard while playing shooters (online) will give a ridiculous advantage, so perhaps it is for the best that it does not seem to be possible. For single player it should be available though, I guess.
I do not know if it is possible but I would also like to know if I can use my mouse and keyboard while playing, would be sick!

[Q] I do need some advice on this phone, thanx in advance

I want to replace my DHD, but Im not sure whether to choose a one x or galaxy note2.
Personally I love the design of one x and im fantastic about its UI, but after so many problem exposed im not so sure now.
galaxy note2 seems like a powerful phone, no interest on its UI but maybe a good phone.
I want to know if the problem with one x on the web is true and how good its performance is. i saw someone in DHD forum go back to DHD from one x, and not sure why.
Sorry for my messy expresson( maybe because im in mess....) but I do need some help
Hi. I do own both a DHD and a HOX. Since I bought a 64gb SD for the DHD and installed ICS on it I felt in love with my DHD again.
Don't get me wrong, HOX is a great phone! It's fast, makes great pictures and so on, but it has no place for an external SD card. I do want to have everything on my phone, from music to videos to games. With my HOX I have to watch carefully it's space.
If I were you, I would buy the galaxy s 3.
Press thanks, if it was helpful.

Lol there is an internal virtual SD card, of course it's possible to transfer stuff to and from a pc, leaving out such basic functionality would be ridiculous

better than iPhone; you do not need any iTunes like prog to transfer files, you can use OneX int storage as an usb storage as usual, mine is 32gb international model, I had also similar thoughts and hesitations as well at the beginning but this is not really a problem. I can easily transfer my camera shots, videos etc without problem.
The only concern, with my OneX, is wi-fi policy; it goes sleep when screen off, and this turns out a problem if you use it for ex. as remote control for other devices like tv, stereo etc in your home network like me, because reconnection to network is required each time you wake your phone, also the same issue makes streaming music via home network through your sound system unusable, just due to that. Otherwise, if you will not use your phone in that way, no any matters at all.
Note: in some custom roms this is already fixed afaik.

I think that the hox is the best phone on the market. My wife ownz a sensation, which is much better that the desire hd and the one x blows it away! The screen quality has no match and it is really fast. In the initial roms the hox had some problems but with that latest update from HTC everything works great.
I also use a custom rom which makes the one x to fly...
Buy the one that you like, all your options are great phones.
Get a Motorola razr maxx or wait and get a razr maxx hd.
Battery life is almost double, it is made by Google so you will get quick updates and there is an sd card slot.
I wish I knew it existed before I bought my one X.

Google bought Motorola for patents, they aren't in charge of their software updates.
Only Nexus devices get quick updates. No Motorola device (apart for the Xoom which is a Nexus) has got JB yet for example

It really depends on your network provider. I am living here in a deserted place in U.A.E and i haven't face this kind of problems yet.
If you pick One X, i am sure you'll not regret it, besides from its simple and good looking design, the phone itself is a beast, especially if you unlock your phone and install a custom rom, battery life will surely increase as well.

[Q] has anyone been able to use google experience launcher on the razr HD?

I'm trying to get the new Google experience launcher on my device but the launcher it's force closing.
Is it working on the razr HD or is it just me?
It's not just you. It doesn't work on my RAZR Maxx HD, but it works perfectly on my Galaxy Nexus.

It works fine here (XT925). But to be honest I don't understand
the hyping of this launcher. After 10 min I am back to nova again and a ton more usefulness options. It way to basic for my taste.

[Q] Stock Circles Widget for RAZR Maxx HD or RAZR HD

I'm looking for the stock Circles widget for the RAZR Maxx HD or RAZR HD. Anyone know where I can find it?
Did a search and all I found was a broken link.

Should work...
Thanks, but that looks like the RAZR M version. It's designed for a 540x960 screen and is a bit too small on a 720x1280 screen.
