Using the infinity's keyboard for games - Asus Transformer TF700

I think the infinity's natural affinity p) with a compatible hardware dock gives it immense potential, not just for work but for gaming as well. Has anyone found any way to use the keyboard for games, much like on a laptop or pc? I tried it out on gta3 since it was supposed to be a direct pc port but only the arrow keys worked, not wasd keys. Anyone has any idea how to utilize the keyboard hardware for gaming? I believe gingerbread was the first to bring native support for hardware controllers and the such, so I think it's definitely possible.

Yeah, this would be awesome. Being able to use a mouse and keyboard while playing shooters (online) will give a ridiculous advantage, so perhaps it is for the best that it does not seem to be possible. For single player it should be available though, I guess.
I do not know if it is possible but I would also like to know if I can use my mouse and keyboard while playing, would be sick!

Using a BT mouse on the Galaxy S

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21aVbYpgrRA
Holy molly.
I didn't think this was possible at all. Does anyone has a bluetooth mouse that they can try on a 2.2.1. firmware? I don't know why anyone would want to use a mouse on a phone, but hell, it's just so damn cool.
P.S. How on earth do you embed youtube videos?
yeah, its really cool. I did it too and a BT keyboard is working too, btw.
My god guys r crazy...but cool

I'm running the stock Bell rom and my Dell mini BT mouse that I got on sale for $15 before xmas and my old Stowaway keyboard work almost mint, I say almost because a few of the windows mobile shortcut buttons don't work but it's over 90% functional.
Neil
yep got it working aswell i am using a Targus mini laptop mouse and works absolutely beautifully
only bluetooth mouse and keyboard i have is my partners Apple ones, but will try them when i get in whoop
WTF ?
I take it none of you have seen this dusty old thread then

Thanks for posting the link to my video, but as someone has pointed out there is a rather long thread about this already!
Main reason to use a mouse with the phone is when then phone is plugged into a TV, either for gaming or when in the browser. Some games like Castle Warriors are much nicer with a mouse.

Game play on SLider

My wife has ordered me a Slider for Christmas, and I was wondering if it is possible to play any games using the keyboard. I'm looking forward to trying out some FPS's and would rather use the keys like a PC than use the touch screen.
Thanks,
I've played snes and gba on my transformers keyboard dock. So you should be fine on your slider

Cheap Emulator Controller for P500?

I was wondering if there is a cheap controller/gamepad that you can use on your Optimus One? Or if there is an app I can get to let me use my Xbox controller, or iPod Touch as a controller. I find the virtual gamepad unusable for most games. I just want a cheap way to have a alternate gamepad. Any suggestions? Btw im using the Oxygen Rom. Thanks

Looking for zeemote type controller?
been scouring the net for some time, haven't come across anything.
Get a bluetooth mini keyboard and just configure the buttons. Thats what I did and it works great
Will a Zeemote work on gingerbread?

Can you post a link to buy this, and does it work on gingerbread?

I'm using the Wiimote Controller with CM7 based rom. It needs to be on nonstock rom based since there is something wrong with the bluetooth of stock roms. It works very well with the wiimote and also with the classic controller if you need more buttons.
The 6 axis controller compatibility checker says that it would work for the phone too but I havent tested it yet.
Thanks for the reply man. I actually just ordered a wiimote on ebay yesterday because I can use it on my ipod emulators. Its great now that i know it will work on my phone too! One question, I am on the Oxygen rom. Would bluetooth work on this or should I get CM7?

I can also recommend to have a look at Phonejoy (www.phonejoy.us), works with more than a hundred games and doesn't require root. So definitely worth checking out!
I have a big question, is it possible to manipulate touchscreen gestures with ie. a Wiimote or Sixaxis?? just like if they were a cordless mouse??
so for instance i could play GlowHockey with them???

He's talking about Bluetooth keyboards like this :
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/mini-b...ia-symbian-s60-cellphones-black-37863?item=52
It works well with CM7 based ROMs. And if the game you are playing is compatible with hardware keys, it will work well for you.
I have the same keyboard on the link, worked for me, but its form factor made it uncomfortable to use for long periods of time.
I shifted to Wiimote + Classic controller for playing old school games.
i dont now for moment !
later information you :B

Are there android apps optimized for the Full HD resolution?

No, right?
So this display only looks beautiful and awesome when reading books, news,... watching 1080p videos? If that'strue then i think i'd go for the 300 because i usually watch 720p videos, which should look good on a 1280x800 screen and i only read books sometimes,
Browsing too, but for 720p videos TF300 should be enough.

so there are no optimized games or apps for this tablet? (even one)
What do you mean by optimised? There are many that look fine
There are some apps for FHD displays, search the Playstore.
Generally text will look better than on lower-resolution screens, textures won't, especially in games.

In my opinion *everything* will look better on the TF700. Besides the resolution, the contrast is WAY better on the TF700.
The difference is noticeable *everywhere* - I especially notice it while web browsing!
I don't know, if I were buying new and could afford it, I'd definately go for the T700 - it's slightly more future-proof at least - seems to me it's just better all of the way around....
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk 2
Due to the way Android handles its resolution scaling, its not a problem for some apps. Basically, the infinity identifies as a 240dpi device. Any apps that run on both phones and tablets should be covered since the resources would be there for 240dpi phones. Tablet only apps and games would need to be updated, as would apps that don't properly handle doing scaling due to sloppy programming. You can see this in action with the stock Google apps.
And as the question was about the apps stop the blind advertising
PS The game is on! What a great show. So much better than in Beijing.

Well, just to let you know, connectbot makes full use of the display, it has the highest resolution terminal I ahve seen for a while.
Also, Chrome seems to make good use of the display.

how to tell?
can we easily test the resolution of apps?
Is there a way to take a screen shot and measure pixels, or the ratio of resolution?
After the recent firmware I noticed chrome looked more resolute, finer grained.
Especially google+ icons were smaller.
this is the only HD device so perhaps google android SDK needs to update first to support the screen size?
Perhaps the emulator would support our TF700 screen and other future device?
bottom line, how to measure apps externally for HD?

Xbmc on tf700

I know they have a Beta in the wild but I was wondering has anyone gotten this puppy to work on their infinity?
This is relevant to my interests.
Bump
Yes. I tried it. It works - to some extent. Very confusing. Removed it until better Beta...

I also installed it but it wasn't working properly...screen was flickering and my mp3 files refused to play....uninstalled until a better version is released.
I tested the 07-26-12 and the 07-30-12 with my HOX and TF700, HOX wouldn't work any more (did work with the 07-20-12 release) but TF700 works fine (as in: it plays video's choppy.. no hardware support, but music is fine)

I've had pretty good luck with it, but have only tried a few videos. I'm not a huge fan of the touchscreen skin they include, but its a start. I think the default skin almost works better. I hope they get the keyboard shortcuts working, as that would be nice with the dock (i've long had them memorized).
It will be nice if more people come out with android/touchscreen specific skins.

which one would you say was more stable? Because when I tried to use it on my TF700 the screen kept flickering at the home screen of xbmc...
Atm none, they're too early in development to actually use.

What is the build you have installed?
I have 2012-09-04 now... Some MKV files will now work. Lots of hickups (now i use MX Player for MKV)
Yes mkv gave me stuttering buy the files i streamed were mp4 if i remember right. Im using that version as well. They say most of the problems with the stuttering is the lack of the hw drivers...or something to that extent
