Try this: open camera, take a picture, and when pressing the back button to exit the camera put your ear close to the phone and can you hear a little "click"? I can hear it from my device, and as much as I can tell, it's mechanical, not from the system or any software.
This doesn't make sense unless there are moving parts associated with the camera hardware.
yes....i can hear it... and it was there in my DHD too... something related to camera lens hardware.....i feel so
I heard it in my previous phone too (SE Vivaz, piece of ****, but the camera was awesome! (Also 8 MP)) It's something with the camera hardware (probably)

Have you never used a non-mobilephone camera in your life? It's simply the camera adjusting focus, or rather resetting it when you close the app. Older phones can't do this, the Sensation can. There is effectively a mechanical movement.
It happened to my Dell streak too. It 's not a problem I think.

Its the auto-focus relaxing
Happens on all HTC devices since the diamond
hello everyone.
i'm an x10 user and i'm planning to buy a sensation this sunday.
about the sound u hear is due to the camera auto focus relaxing and i have the same thing on my x 10. try getting someting hard to focus on with the phone'c camera and u may hear it trying to fucus and sometimes feel it as in my x10.

Hi all,
Got a slight issue here, not sure if i'm not doing it right but i have tried all kinds of settings and nothing worked.
Anyway, heres what happened...... A butterfly flew into our work and was bugging everyone pretty much all day it eventually landed pretty much right next to me and i wanted to test out the macro on this phone, so i switched to close up and attempted to take a picture but it just came out all blurry, so i changed to different combinations of settings, always getting the same results, it kept focusing past perfection to blurriness??
Either way it was really annoying, I don't actually give a **** about butterflies i just wanted to be able to take a pic up close?
I'm running coredroid at the moment however i believe the camera is the native Sensation one. ??
Any ideas?
I notice that too. It focuses amazingly, and then instantly goes blurry. You have to be a couple of inches away before the macro works.

Is there a decent guide for the sensation camera? I find this to be worse than the desire hd. E.g. if I take a picture of my dog with flash his eyes are always glowing (flash reflection) on the sensation, but never on the desire hd

The camera is good enough for a phone. Buy something dedicated for that kind of work. And never use flash for making pictures, ever.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e
Poor close up photographs is a general photography issue. Having trouble avoiding blurry photos up close goes for any type of photography when you're taking shots handheld. That said, I just tried the close-up setting on a wireless mouse and a pen, and at about 4 inches away I'm getting clear shots even though I'm in low light right now.

But my point is flash works great on the desire hd and it's shocking on the sensation. That's not how it should be!

You obviously don't know anything about photography. Flash is absolutely needed in cases where there is insufficient lighting. Otherwise the output will lack detail and be noisy. If the direct flash is too intense, you can always use a reflective surface to produce a softer lighting.
Are you using the macro setting for the camera?
is there a way to get the camera to take a photo by pressing the vol button?
When taking a snap of me and the lady its hard to click on the on-screen button.
Would like to know as well companies should always dedicate a shutter button..

Yeah, I was literally shocked when i got the device. Is there a button shortage in htc land.
I would love to know why they chose not to have one
I'm pretty sure this question has been addressed somewhere but I don't know if they got anywhere with it. My solution is to use a 3rd party camera app for those instances. There are a few that support the volume key as a shutter. Camera360, Camera ZOOM FX and Vignette are all capable of taking regular pictures using the volume. Just make sure you go through each ones settings to make sure its setup how you like. Vignette likes to take pictures with random effects until you tell it to stop on first startup for example.
On all of my past HTC phones I was able to use the volume buttons to zoom in and out but I cannot figure out how to do it with the One X. Is it possible?

not with stock but I imagine it will be possible once we can really start customizing this phone
ah that sucks I wonder why they removed that option. It was convenient when I needed to quickly zoom now I have to touch the screen and often it zooms too much....Oh well thanks for the reply

I remember being able to do this with cheap ass "feature phones" such as the Samsung Eternity and Impression.
I want to replace my DHD, but Im not sure whether to choose a one x or galaxy note2.
Personally I love the design of one x and im fantastic about its UI, but after so many problem exposed im not so sure now.
galaxy note2 seems like a powerful phone, no interest on its UI but maybe a good phone.
I want to know if the problem with one x on the web is true and how good its performance is. i saw someone in DHD forum go back to DHD from one x, and not sure why.
Sorry for my messy expresson( maybe because im in mess....) but I do need some help
Hi. I do own both a DHD and a HOX. Since I bought a 64gb SD for the DHD and installed ICS on it I felt in love with my DHD again.
Don't get me wrong, HOX is a great phone! It's fast, makes great pictures and so on, but it has no place for an external SD card. I do want to have everything on my phone, from music to videos to games. With my HOX I have to watch carefully it's space.
If I were you, I would buy the galaxy s 3.
Press thanks, if it was helpful.

Lol there is an internal virtual SD card, of course it's possible to transfer stuff to and from a pc, leaving out such basic functionality would be ridiculous

better than iPhone; you do not need any iTunes like prog to transfer files, you can use OneX int storage as an usb storage as usual, mine is 32gb international model, I had also similar thoughts and hesitations as well at the beginning but this is not really a problem. I can easily transfer my camera shots, videos etc without problem.
The only concern, with my OneX, is wi-fi policy; it goes sleep when screen off, and this turns out a problem if you use it for ex. as remote control for other devices like tv, stereo etc in your home network like me, because reconnection to network is required each time you wake your phone, also the same issue makes streaming music via home network through your sound system unusable, just due to that. Otherwise, if you will not use your phone in that way, no any matters at all.
Note: in some custom roms this is already fixed afaik.

I think that the hox is the best phone on the market. My wife ownz a sensation, which is much better that the desire hd and the one x blows it away! The screen quality has no match and it is really fast. In the initial roms the hox had some problems but with that latest update from HTC everything works great.
I also use a custom rom which makes the one x to fly...
Buy the one that you like, all your options are great phones.
Get a Motorola razr maxx or wait and get a razr maxx hd.
Battery life is almost double, it is made by Google so you will get quick updates and there is an sd card slot.
I wish I knew it existed before I bought my one X.

Google bought Motorola for patents, they aren't in charge of their software updates.
Only Nexus devices get quick updates. No Motorola device (apart for the Xoom which is a Nexus) has got JB yet for example

It really depends on your network provider. I am living here in a deserted place in U.A.E and i haven't face this kind of problems yet.
If you pick One X, i am sure you'll not regret it, besides from its simple and good looking design, the phone itself is a beast, especially if you unlock your phone and install a custom rom, battery life will surely increase as well.
