Why do you keep your Cyanogenmod10 rom? - Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo (Dual), J, E

Other user posted, why do we keep our roms Stock. I would love to see opinions on why do you keep Cyanogenmod.
PS: Only pure FXP Cyanogenmod 10. No mods.

For now i prefer stock !! But the features that i like in cyanogen are

3.recovery !! Miss it on stock jellybean..

Well CM10 gives you more customization and supports lots of modifications in framework and more. You have also many custom roms based on CM.

stock rom is better than CM10 ?? :silly:

It depends what are you expecting from rom. I'm need 100% working, everything. I was annoyed by half-working led, front camera and other little bugs it had. Now I'm on stock JB with the newest Vengeance kernel and it's as fast as CM10 with all tweaks, soo... my decision for now is stock JB. It runs as fast as CM10 and has everything working.
I should also admit, that decided to sell my Xperia J.

@up
Front camera works perfect on CM10
As for me everything works better on CM10 than Stock

Reasons to consider Cyanogenmod for Xperia Tipo

REASONS TO CONSIDER CYANOGENMOD ON XPERIA TIPO
NB: I AM WRITING THIS IN ORDER TO HELP THOSE WHO ARE THINKING ABOUT USING A CUSTOM ROM FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Well, it has been a few weeks I have played with 3 most promising ROMs for Tipo - Cyanogenmod, AOKP& Z-Fusion.
All of them were better than the stock ROM provided by Sony. Out of the 3, CM was was the most stable(atleast for my phone).
AOKP offered more control over the ROM but it froze more often in tipo. Z-Fusion was visually good(very good job done with the interface) but it lacked some controls offered by CM.
Now one can ask, why CM? Whats wrong with the beautiful firmware by Sony?
Well, there is nothing wrong with the official firmware but it is a heavy burden on the memory. The UI is eye-catching but it takes a lot of memory for the tiniest details, whereas CM has a simple and neat UI( the Trebuchet Launcher, gotta love it!!!) which is very lightweight and fast and responsive. The control over the behaviour of the ROM is what appeals the most. Starting from the lockscreen to its CPU, everything under your control. Lots of customization option available for the user.
The best thing about Cyanogenmod is that the in built apps are very memory friendly. In tipo, after a fresh and clean installation you get about 600 mb of phone memory. The original firmware of a new phone offers 450-500 mb of phone memory( it depends on region, 450-500 in my region). So those who are fanatic about their phone memory should try out CM as it is the most stable out there for tipo.
Hope this is useful to some extent.
I'm currently using CM10 (FXP212) and it is running very smooth.
I want to make a few comments to this:
- custom ROMs are overall a little bit less stable, especially if they're still in development phase, which all of Tipo's custom ROMs are. Although CM is quite stable since the few last updates.
- Z-Fusion is still based on an older CM10 build. That's where the partial lesser features come from. There have been some updates in the CM10 project since Z-Fusion released.
- AOKP is FAR from done.
Honestly in my opinion you should also cover some the downsides of Custom ROMs when you post something like this, because it isn't really objective like this.
I do agree CM10 FXP project is a wonderful project, but it was also the first so it had more time to advance and evolve into a great ROM. Give the other ROMs a chance.
Also, are you planning to add more ROMs to your review?
Regards, Drago
I really appreciate your opinions
This post was meant for upsides of the ROMs. However, I will make another post to point out the demerits.
Thanks for encouraging me.

thank you and i saw Cyanogenmod work more fluently than stock rom and i'm thinking install Cyanogenmod in my tipo and install a custom rom have compatibility with locked bootloader xD
I'm thinking to install CM10 on my Tipo, but still have my doubts, because I can't find any info about the pro's on the net.
Is it really really faster then the stock ?
At this point, my phone is really laggy at some point (stock). Even, when all the unneeded apps are deleted.
When I type a message, my phone laggs almost everytime.
That's why I was looking at the freexperia project, but yeah, warranty void :/
That's a big downside for me...

If you are looking for laggless rom stay away from fxp, at least for now because stock i much faster than cm for this day (fxp214).
I recommend you to use gimlo rom with pimp my rom tweak (aroma version) it makes tipo much faster.
To tell the diffrence here are quadrant benchmark results i got:
Fxp 214 ~1000pts
Gimlo 0.3 ~1500pts
Gimlo 0.3 + Pimp my rom ~1700pts
Try FXP221. U will find how great fxp rom now

[Q] [MIRO] Is it possible to port/make GB Rom for Miro??

How easy do you reckon it would be to create or port a GB Rom to our MIRO?
I am not a developer but I pick things up quickly. I gather, for porting you need a rom for a phone that is very very similar in hardware and spec to the miro.
I may have a go if you fine people think it is possible
its very easy....what cm version is gb? (cm9, 8, 7)?

Any ideas where to start from???

tomorrow i have exams....after that i have something to do...after that i will look to port cm7 to tipo and miro (first tipo to see if it works) at which section should i post it? original development or android development (i dont know )
Sent from my Xperia Tipo using xda app-developers app
I would say original android development. That would be totally amazing. I am not a dev at all but as I said above I'm quick learner and if I could help or test in anyway just pm me
Sent from my ST23i using xda app-developers app
Im not a dev but can I ask some questions? We all know, cm7 is gb / 2.3 so the standard kernel is 2.x. Do you actually want to use cm7 2.x kernel or the original ics kernel? The hardware itself already run on 3.x kernel. If you choose 2.x, would some hardware capabilities being disabled, like it isnt there in 2.x but 3.x have it (ext4 for example). What do you say if cm7 ran on stock 3.x kernel instead? This would bring cm7 to locked bootloader too. Just a noob asking questions.
Paradox ST21i
Well I would say no. Surely it would cause hardware to not work properly.
You can't use JB for instance using ICS kernel can you? I don't know.
Bootloader is easy enough to unlock though.
I just think that ICS runs okay on the Miro but think GB would be so much smoother.
Sent from my ST23i using xda app-developers app
So no cm7 on stock ics kernel? Thats too bad for people that have unlock: no. I thought it should be easy like x8 / e16i but that phone itself ran on 2.x. Miro on gb would be faster. It would be like running xp on 8-core amd pc. Easy example is galaxy ace plus s7500. It is smoother than my custom rom tipo.

I believe this is mostly because JB uses newer features and hardware specs again. I believe backward-compatibility would work easier than forward one. Therefore I agree with zzztidurvirus.
Also I doubt if it would be 'so much smoother'...
Regards, Drago
Well it is possible... but you would need to compile it from source not port it. It doesn't work like that. And second, by the time you make a stable release, fxp will probably have an even more stable release of jb.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, there is no better or worse. It is all personal preference. The performance of a ROM depends on what the user installs, it is nothing to do with the ROM itself, you will have to experiment to see what works the best for you.

yes my XJ is CM10 on FXP241 ,and its great for RAM.. even after running temple run/angry birds. games still has 120 MB free mem.
I supercharged it with zepplinrox Supercharging scripts http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276 ( I cried for some 30mins after opening this link .. its that clean )
Another thing I want to share is about the Brilliant work gavster and matej has done for XJ ROM scene. AVD rom is lightening snappy and gives even better results with vengeance kernel .
Vengeance kernel doesnt have CWM integrated thats only thing I missed..There are many missing feature in stock rom that cm10 has.
So choose accordingly..
I am going to test PA 3 as well in few days.

[POLL][J] Choose the rom I may start working on

Hello,
Development of CM11 is doing well so far. I may start working on the second project parallelly so you can chooses which rom you would like to have on XJ.
(all roms 4.4.2)
OmniRom - very nice new rom with many features. Made by one leading devs in xda. Good support.
ChameleonOS - rom which has unique theme engine taken from MIUI and modified. Nice UI, themes, customization. Poor support, may be time consuming to port it.
SlimKat - CM11 based rom, slimmed with dark UI, some more features are added. It may be pretty fast on XJ. Not bad support.
I can't promise I will develop a rom you choose. I may not have a time but I want to know how much people will use it if I do.
If only few people are want it I'm not going to port any more rom, I will stop on CM11.
It depends mostly on the ammount of people here.
Source of ChameleonOS is downloaded and I've made one test build.
Vote if you're XJ user.
And please don't post useless things here, don't ask about CM11, bugs and other devices. Only questions about roms in poll.
Update:
Sorry I forgot to add AOSP. I can work on AOSP too.
I think SlimKat will be the best

How about you just port the whole stock 4.1 ROM from the J or E to the Tipo or Miro? BTW, stock JB is slow as hell.
1)i think your trying to make a stock 4.1 rom as if it was released by sony? amiright?
2)I like your idea but porting anything from stock E is a bad idea(stock E software was done by different people & things are quite difficult to port and'stuff)
3)IF you are still planning to do it choose another phone
4)doing it for the first time ? don't start with stock. custom roms should be easier..
