[Q] [MIRO] Is it possible to port/make GB Rom for Miro?? - Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo (Dual), J, E

How easy do you reckon it would be to create or port a GB Rom to our MIRO?
I am not a developer but I pick things up quickly. I gather, for porting you need a rom for a phone that is very very similar in hardware and spec to the miro.
I may have a go if you fine people think it is possible

its very easy....what cm version is gb? (cm9, 8, 7)?

CM7 is GB Android 2.3 I wouldnt even know where to start but I really do think it would be so popular on Miro. I think it would run way better than ICS does.
Any ideas where to start from???

tomorrow i have exams....after that i have something to do...after that i will look to port cm7 to tipo and miro (first tipo to see if it works) at which section should i post it? original development or android development (i dont know )
Sent from my Xperia Tipo using xda app-developers app

I would say original android development. That would be totally amazing. I am not a dev at all but as I said above I'm quick learner and if I could help or test in anyway just pm me
Sent from my ST23i using xda app-developers app

Im not a dev but can I ask some questions? We all know, cm7 is gb / 2.3 so the standard kernel is 2.x. Do you actually want to use cm7 2.x kernel or the original ics kernel? The hardware itself already run on 3.x kernel. If you choose 2.x, would some hardware capabilities being disabled, like it isnt there in 2.x but 3.x have it (ext4 for example). What do you say if cm7 ran on stock 3.x kernel instead? This would bring cm7 to locked bootloader too. Just a noob asking questions.
Paradox ST21i

Well I would say no. Surely it would cause hardware to not work properly.
You can't use JB for instance using ICS kernel can you? I don't know.
Bootloader is easy enough to unlock though.
I just think that ICS runs okay on the Miro but think GB would be so much smoother.
Sent from my ST23i using xda app-developers app

So no cm7 on stock ics kernel? Thats too bad for people that have unlock: no. I thought it should be easy like x8 / e16i but that phone itself ran on 2.x. Miro on gb would be faster. It would be like running xp on 8-core amd pc. Easy example is galaxy ace plus s7500. It is smoother than my custom rom tipo.
Paradox ST21i

hello guys....i ported cm7 to our tipo but it stuck at boot animation...kernel is fxp default...rom flashed successfully but i have bootloop....
Sent from my Xperia Tipo using xda app-developers app

Great idea
Sent from my Xperia Tipo using xda premium

Would it work wit vengeance kernel. Maybe would help with boot loop. I always seem to have problems with fxp kernel on my Miro. Stuck on stock based at minute

no with vergeance because all cm versions need a custom fxp kernel to work for now....i think in the future we will be able to use a kernel like vergeance (i dont know it but i hope it)

I believe this is mostly because JB uses newer features and hardware specs again. I believe backward-compatibility would work easier than forward one. Therefore I agree with zzztidurvirus.
Also I doubt if it would be 'so much smoother'...
Regards, Drago

Well it is possible... but you would need to compile it from source not port it. It doesn't work like that. And second, by the time you make a stable release, fxp will probably have an even more stable release of jb.

No, dual boot is not possible yet.

on my desire s Boot Manager Pro allowed the dual booting of non sense roms like akop and cyanogen, not sure if it would work with this phone though

That's something we had on the x8 with roms that used the same kernel.
you will need a kernel that can dual boot ROMs and then its limited to the same kernel. so there's no way you can run stock + CM9 or CM9+CM10 at the same time.

Stock kernel runs roms based on stock roms (like xperience ROM)
Fxp kernel is required to run fxp cm10 ROM.
and afaik, the tipo does not have enough space to hold 2 roms at the same time (I might be wrong about this)
Sent from my Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet
Cm10 ~150mb. Striped down version of stock rom ~250mb.
Ok..thanks a lot

I believe its able to load the ROM from the sdcard itself. our multi boot kernel boots the 2nd and 3rd ROMs from sdcard instead.

Why do you keep your Cyanogenmod10 rom?

Other user posted, why do we keep our roms Stock. I would love to see opinions on why do you keep Cyanogenmod.
PS: Only pure FXP Cyanogenmod 10. No mods.
For now i prefer stock !! But the features that i like in cyanogen are
1.dsp manager !!
2.theme support .
3.recovery !! Miss it on stock jellybean..

Well CM10 gives you more customization and supports lots of modifications in framework and more. You have also many custom roms based on CM.

stock rom is better than CM10 ?? :silly:
It depends what are you expecting from rom. I'm need 100% working, everything. I was annoyed by half-working led, front camera and other little bugs it had. Now I'm on stock JB with the newest Vengeance kernel and it's as fast as CM10 with all tweaks, soo... my decision for now is stock JB. It runs as fast as CM10 and has everything working.
I should also admit, that decided to sell my Xperia J.
@up
Front camera works perfect on CM10
As for me everything works better on CM10 than Stock

Xperia J, stock or FXP?

What do you use? I'm on stock jb .31, locked bootloader. In the FXP, the battery duration is better than stock rom? what are the differences between stock and fxp?

How is battery duration? Are there any bug on vengeance? What version of vengeance and stock kernel do you use? Can u list me what apps do u use on your phone? Thanks ^^
Nope there isnt any bug in vengeance. You should try it.
i use social apps like FB, we chat, walkman, etc
And yeah soo much of internet surfing via chrome.
Battery duration works good but i have to charge it twice a days when using lots of internet..
But thats ok cause it happens with almost all the androids!
Hit thanks if i helped! It wont take much time!

what about AVD rom + simple kernel or vengeance 1.43 ?
with simlpe kernel , i can play rr3 without any lags XD (but only with smartassv2)
If you can choose AVD, then itself is best ROM for xjlo!

For my part, will tell you so if you want a fast and software without the "crap" then go ahead and install FXP CM
Stock soft works very well but sometimes you who had a previous unit of cm or fxp.miui etc are just longing for what was on the phone.
I'm not a proponent of playing on the phone but always test a game like GTA III, for example, the Xperia J jams even on the lowest settings, detailed graphics.
Custom ROMs just eliminate this problem :fingers-crossed:

Hello comunty

i will soon try to compile 4.4 andorid for tipo.did anyone try it before me?
also will try to port 3.4.X kernel for tipo coz 3.X kernel is End Of Line.
i have xperia tipo im half skilled developer, core for now is porting 3.4.X.....more soon
:highfive:
for 4.4 will w8 for cm11 to get boot for some devices
I think it would be more useful if you make CM10.1 or CM10.2.
CM10.1 has some chances to run normally on our devices.
Our thoughts are with you!

How about you just port the whole stock 4.1 ROM from the J or E to the Tipo or Miro? BTW, stock JB is slow as hell.
1)i think your trying to make a stock 4.1 rom as if it was released by sony? amiright?
2)I like your idea but porting anything from stock E is a bad idea(stock E software was done by different people & things are quite difficult to port and'stuff)
3)IF you are still planning to do it choose another phone
4)doing it for the first time ? don't start with stock. custom roms should be easier..
