I'm on Paranoid Android 2.0 and it seems pretty stable . No no reboots and only a few FCs. I haven't tried BT with it yet but the only issue I have right now is the in-call volume. Seems like the volume rocker controls the microphone sensitivity but I'm not certain
I'm also on paranoid 2.00 and I've been loving it, no echo during calls and no force closes. But the screen flashes every once in a while...not a deal breaker for me because everything else works great and its hardly noticeable
I would recommend AOKP JB. I have been on it for a week. Totally awesome, and we just got made an official AOKP device. Check it out.

Does AOKP have screen flicker? I was on cm10 and it was driving me nuts! Now I'm on synergy and miss project butter...

Most of the JB AOSP roms do but and easy workaround is to Disable HW overlays in Developer Settings. Unfortunately, this needs to be done after every reboot but its certainly worth it.

In dev options I checked the box for disable hardware over lays and also force gpu and my screen hasn't flickered since
Ive been using 8-16 of CM10 nightlies
Its works really flawless, screen flicker is fixed by dev settings
i think i might have a random reboot once every 4 or 5 days besides that its flawless!
After giving it some time for Jelly Bean to hit developers, I've seen 2 versions of Jelly Bean that work on the Inspire, both of which are variants of JellyTime. There is a CM10 version out there, but the Inspire/Desire is not on their supported list and after installing it I can't get it to boot past the splash screen.
Has anyone seen any other JB ROM's out there? I've seen Randomblame's and Synergy's and I must say both are noticeably faster, faster internet, faster APP install, and improved efficiency overall.
Please post all questions in the Q & A section. Thanks!

Those are the two. Since nothing official will be hitting any similar devices it probably won't be a big collection of roms like gb and ics. I bet someday we will see a port of a jelly/sense combo but it will probably be missing stuff so it is actually usable. Our devices are becoming dated compared to jelly bean devices. It's like running windows 7 on an old Athlon. I know I am looking forward to upgrading. My inspire has been a great device, but most of the really great devs have upgraded and moved on, and I can't wait til I can do the same. I've only got 11 more months lol. Keylime(or whatever the k version will be called) will probably be out by then.

My apologies, thanks for moving it. I am new to this.
I've been using randomBlame's jelly bean nightlies for some time now. It is nearly perfect but the one major flaw made me revert back to ice cold sandwich: the screen blacks out when the first sound is initiated after sleep. It's actually a problem with cm10 and it interferes with calls. When that is fixed it will be my new os.

I just flash this rom (below) yesterday night and i must say thsi is the best one I've flashed in awhile.
its fast its good on battery life and the design is Crack lol. only problem i have is the camera function
dont like that i have to snap a shot just to calibrate it. and the Apollo music app, installing a different theme it doesnt seem to work.
other than that the dialer works, wifi is excellent and the battery life is sweet....check it out

A workaround for camera focus is to hold button and then slide finger off it sideways. It will focus without taking a picture. Works for me.

I'm currently using JellyTime R13 and I haven't run on any issues. Great battery life, very fast and the camera bug stated earlier in this post is fixed. Only thing not working is the headset controls, but for me that's not a big deal. I use it as my daily driver. I haven't used the other one but I think it should be very similar to JellyTime since both are unofficial CM Nightlies.
Still has backlight issues I think. Biggest deal killer for me is not supporting all wifi channels...

Hi guys,
I seem to have a need to run experimental builds. And since I turned the other thread into an official CM10 thread (stupid of me, I know), I thought I'd create this one to run experimental builds on.
What constitutes an experimental build? Well... mostly tweaks to our device profile. Turning on and off features we do or don't have on the phone. Maybe I'll try experimental AOKP or other releases, but most importantly:
I DO NOT TAKE REQUESTS!
Please don't ask for things that really should be mods and handled in the Themes and Apps section. You'll just be annoying me and cluttering the thread.
Please see the second post for misc. things I'm working on.
Also, be nice to all posters... even the [email protected] This is the Android Dev section and I'd like to see a certain level of decorum. We only get better by rising above.
AS ALWAYS, VERIFY ALL MD5 SUMS BEFORE INSTALLING.
ALSO, IF YOU FIND SERIOUS (or even minor) WEIRDNESS, PLEASE DO A FULL WIPE AND VERIFY BEFORE REPORTING!
Thanks
So, I talked to some guys, and I'm hoping the following kernel soves some of the SoD issues people have been having. Folks, PLEASE remember that you need to run this for at least a day or two without rebooting your phone on purpose. If it crashes out or reboots on it's own, that's a different story. I need this to be more of a long term test. As soon as I can confirm this works, I'll get it patched and submitted to official.
CM10 2012-11-11 Build. SoD Fix Attempt 1: boot-cm10.t769-noSoD.zip - 6.89 MB (Dirty flash OK, no need to wipe dalvik)
NOTE!!!
Sometimes I'll mention I uploaded a build. It takes about 25-30 minutes for me to upload a 160MB file. So if you don't see a file immediately, give it a half hour and come back.
Cleanup...
Unless there are any objections, I'll be removing the following files from my dev-host account, as well as older builds:
T769 - CM9 Experimental build, 10/25 Latest: cm-9-20121025-UNOFFICIAL-t769.zip - 137.16 MB
T769 - CM9 Kernel Flash for 10/30 build, Random WiFi MAC Fix: boot-kernel-cm9-wireless-mac-fix-20121030.zip - 6.99 MB
T769 - CM10 Experimental build, 10/24 Latest: cm-10-20121024-UNOFFICIAL-t769.zip - 159.47 MB

OK, so, first things first. I've run a basic build of CM9. I'd love to know if you guys find this stable or not. This has my kernel modifications against the kernel that it originally came from (3.0.8). The device setup is very similar to CM10 so setting up and running a build was not difficult.

I works, though wonky.
BLN was wonky in CM9, that's just how it was. In fact, when talking amongst the devs about doing a CM9 build, the dude that was responsible for the BLN stuff said "don't forget CM9 has the wonky BLN" ... yeah. It's the same experience as from CM10.
The CM10 implementation is supposed to be cleaner, but the rewrite was so extensive that it is killing me to try to work support for us back into it. In fact, the CM10 very of our build uses the CM9 driver, until I can finish my port.
So, yeah, the BLN will be the same as in the CM10 release.

It should be fairly vanilla CM9, except based on my sources rather than TFQ's. I'm hoping I can get some feedback on stability and features (other than BLN) because I'm curious about the comparison to CM10. Also, because an official build of CM9 might go a long way towards making people happier about their CM experience while CM10 goes through it's growing pains

Stable enough to be official? Also, have you tested the torch (flashlight)? Are you still running it?
As for the volume, you say Tune in / Pandora are better... are they better as in correct, or just better as in not as low as apollo?
Is anyone else using the CM9 release?

Thanks! Yeah, no one else reported back on it. I think I may have found the volume issue. Looks like I may have missed some things in the kernel. Gonna finish building some new patches tonight, so we'll see. With any luck, by the end of the day we'll have a stable CM9 where the sound is what it should be, and I577 will have a CM9 that doesn't spin like a top
And... this might help towards some sound stuff that was just reported for the CM10 build as well.

Hah! Don't get too excited... I may have been wrong
Sorry to be late guys.... This rom is probably the most stable rom out there for ics.... the only drawback is the music playback from the speakers... the headphones seem to work perfect even with apollo. Also with amazon mp3 player.. Very smooth, fluid. Feels very fast. But I noticed one glitch in any app if I close the status bar real fast I see like half of the screen flash black. To reproduce this glitch you can just open messaging: pull down the bar, let it go, then real fast drag it to the top......
Glad to hear you guys are having a good experience with this build. With any luck, it'll be "official" early next week.
I loaded a new kernel into my CM9 builds area (see second post). Please load that one up as it's what will ultimately be pushed. If I could get a day or two's worth of feedback, I'd appreciate it. It's OK to dirty flash. You can wipe dalvik if you like.
I loaded some music on my test phone and, honestly... I'm not sure how loud it's supposed to get. The volume didn't change with the final kernel patching I did. Though, the other kernel's volume seems fine to my ears You're talking about the speakerphone, right?
My test music sounded fine to me... maybe I'll load up CM10 and see if there's a difference.
EDIT: loaded CM10 and volume levels seem the same to me. . o (you can get with this... or you can get with that...)
Number 1 for me is stability. I am looking for a Rom that fully works or for the most part everything is working. Full camera functionality/flash, Sending and receiving SMS & MMS, GPS (I use navigation often), making and receiving calls, all the basic stuff that work on stock. Stability is my main objective. Second would be battery life & fluidity. Everything else like customization options is a nice bonus
I expected the Jelly Bean OTA to be better than it was. I did a factory reset when I got the update to make sure my phone started fresh. Even formatted internal and external SD card. I just expected a better experience. They took away some things I loved and added some things I don't like. But the main thing that bothers me is the occasional stutter/lag. And I notice battery life is worst on the JB OTA. I thought JB was suppose to be refined, it's not totally buttery smooth like they promote it to be. At least not on the stock Verizon variant of the GS3.
I am looking at "The Executioner" or the CleanRom/CleanRom Lite Edition. Any opinions or thoughts by people who have ran both would be appreciated!! I realize roms, as most things in life are a personal preference but I'd still like to get some opinions.

I use the CM10 Nightlies. I update about once a week or so. And I have had very minimal issues. When I did run into any, I just updated the next day and the issue was fixed. And you can report bugs to the developers to help expedite the fixes as they come up. Not to mention no more touchwiz, *Gag*

People spend hours putting together guides, doing reviews, etc. It's frustrating sometimes to see how little effort some people put into utilizing the forum.
It works both ways. These boards would be alot less cluttered if people searched. We're all guilty of it, I'm not preaching. Just know where he coming from.
For example there's a great guide in the android development forum that compares many different roms.

I want to use CM10.1 as a daily driver, but all of the bugs and small nicks make me go back to more developed and stable TW roms. Anyone using 10.1 as a daily? Can you give me your opinions on it? Which rom are you using? What bugs do you notice?
Thank you
996
The in call volume has been fixed for me so I'm going to run it as a daily driver from now on.
Bluetooth audio is still completely broken I hear but it's not something I depend on or use without going out of my way.
Unless some other huge bug manifests, all is going pretty well.
So far there are two main issues that make me consider going back to TW:
1. Sometimes when I interrupt a game from loading, the entire system is laggy as hell until I reboot
2. There is a small delay when answering the phone. I don't know who can hear who during that delay, but its annoying nonetheless.
I'm waiting for the stretched image bug to be fixed on multi-window ROMs before I go back to TW though. It's definitely daily driver worthy.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Been daily on mine since the unofficial cm10 back in August, fine here but maybe I just can't stand TW. Only little issue Ive come across that bothers me is sometimes it will think a short press on menu/home is a long press and have to reboot. Bluetooth audio is fine if you go into the build.prop and modify lpa.decode to false
Sent from my SCH-I535 using XDA
Been using as daily driver since unofficial cm10, lost IMEI and had some pretty good scares but I have been loving it ever since. I would say the only issue for me right now is the screen flickering which can be somewhat fixed by disabling HW overlay, which does not seem to stick through a reboot.
thank you all for the replies. I was running CM10 for a while, but I just resorted back to TW. I can't wait until all the nicks and bugs get sifted out of 10.1. Pure Google is the way to go.

Been using as daily driver since unofficial cm10, lost IMEI and had some pretty good scares but I have been loving it ever since. I would say the only issue for me right now is the screen flickering which can be somewhat fixed by disabling HW overlay, which does not seem to stick through a reboot.

Official 1/10 nightly has flickering fixed!

I've been AOSP since week one of owning my SGS3, however weak data signal / drops and spotty gps has me trying out TW.
Synergy is pretty awesome. It's not a huge adjustment once you get it configured with your custom launcher. Plus, MultiView is amazing!

if you are going to "wait for all the nicks and bugs get sifted out", you might always have a wait. Custom ROMs are just that, custom, and sometimes, what works for one phone won't work for another.
Just pick one that you like the features, and learn work arounds or ignore the "nicks and bugs"
Thanks to all the DEVs! I love waving my modded S3 under everyone running stock and asking why their phones can't do what mine does!

Hold the back button and it'll pop up on the left side then just drag an app from there to the screen

Mastamoon in the official 10.1 thread has been putting out some rocking unofficial builds that contain cherry picks for most of the issues that have annoyed me. I really suggest checking out his 1/4 build (I'm on this) or his latest. He seems to have Bluetooth and call volume issues pretty close to being wrapped up.

I ran liquid's for two weeks or so, but my flashing addiction made me try something else. Went back to AOKP 4.1 but now I'm back on stock TW that I made a few modifications to. I replaced the MMS app and keyboard with AOSP as well as the UI sounds, and I'm fairly content for now. Usually any kind of lags annoys me, but I've found JB Touchwiz to be alright ( I was an avid HTC user prior. Touchwiz is way smoother than Sense.)

I want to use CM10.1 as a daily driver, but all of the bugs and small nicks make me go back to more developed and stable TW roms. Anyone using 10.1 as a daily? Can you give me your opinions on it? Which rom are you using? What bugs do you notice?
Thank you

I am running the CM 10.1 Official NIGHTLIES. They have been my daily driver since almost beginning of the month. My custom ringtone only rings once when someone calls, answering calls ends up with a weird delay before anyone can hear you. A couple of other small bugs, but no deal-breakers that I really see.

I like slim bean 4.2 but I am not able to find a working wifi tether for it. Most 4.2 roms I cannot get wireless tether working
Update. Running 10.1. I dirty flashed from 10 and all my problems were solved. Pretty awesome having the latest version of android. Love it. Battery life can be better though haha

I love CM, but lately it seems they have too much going on. The barely got 4.1 working, and came out with the M2 release, and then moved on to 4.2, which is CM 10.1. I prefer to stay with a dev that will tweak their ROM and stick with it until they get it right. That's why I will not use CM anymore. Unless they have hundreds of devs working constantly to keep up with the number of devices they support, they're eventually going to become a ROM that's unreliable. I hope I wrong, but with the S3 they're clearly not completing one OS before moving to another, which makes them a no go IMO.
Battery life has been absolutely incredible for me on 10.1. 9 hours on battery all on 4G with 20 min screen on at 80%

Just flashed the DarthStalker ROM onto my S3 I've had for about 2 weeks now, it works beautifully, I've gotta say. Super fast, native WiFi hotspot/USB tethering, I would highly recommend at least checking it out.
