If I do, will it mess up my phone, root, and other phone system settings?

Yes but you have to make it back into a gold card.

Why? My Gold card is in a Jar on my desk. I have an 8 gig with just music and a 32 gig with 16gigs of whatever. I use it mostly. I never made it into a gold card.
Yeah, there is absolutely no reason you have to make it a gold card. I have formatted my non-gold-card SD card a couple of times when I felt like things were getting messy there.
I should mention that some of my apps stopped working (presumably the ones that were installed on the SD card) after the format, though I was not concerned about that since I was just getting prepared to flash a new ROM at the time.
I read somewhere here that a gold card is needed to flash a different ROM

No, you only need the gold card to root. After that its useless lol from the way I read at least . I have flashed at least 100 times with out a gold card , at least 100 lol

The only time the gold card is used is to bypass superCID on the initial downgrade. So no you don't need it to flash custom roms.

Once rooted, u don't need GC anymore. Just make sure the rom u install preserves root.

This isn't necessary unless you are s-on, you can still flash from non rooted to rooted with s-off. The gold card is used to bypass the superCID so you can downgrade the radio so you can s-off. Once you are s-off you can flash any rom through hboot just as you would a radio.

HELP

plz help. rooted sensation. I was running sense-o-maniac rom but switched to an ics rom using 4ext recovery but then my phone didnt start after 1 hour so i tried to put it into hboot and it said that no image or something and then asks ffor an update. When i do that update it reboots and gets stuck again but if i dont i cant press to go back only reboot where it gets stuck. What do i do? i am willing too do a full wipe or ANYTHING just gte me into recovery.PLEASE
Did you flash the recovery using hboot (pg58img.zip) If so remove it from your SD card (use an adaptor or just remove the SD and see if you can get to hboot as normal.

And if that's the case, you can put a Gingerbread ROM on the SD card and reflash that one. Should spin right up.
IF this is your problem
Yes most probably the problem is due to the flashing of the firmware. First flash the firmware required for ICS ROMS and then install the ROM, should work out fine for you

i had the same problem, did not solve it but i found a way to acces it though. if you have 4EXT recovery there is an option to toggle usb storage. if you connect you're phone to you're PC you should ve able to acces it.
good luck! :good:

Hi,
there's probably a process preventing your SD card to be mounted by your PC.
Are you using a swap space on your SD card? If you don't, then maybe a script relating to your kernel does.
Install Kernel Tuner and hit Menu and go Swap. there will be written the amount and the percentage as well as the location of the swap space, if there is any.
In case you saw that, Deactivate the swap space then unmount your SD card and then after you're done, re-activate it.

In my case, I can't even access it in recovery. I can access it from fedora and from some, not all, pc's. It doesn't matter if it is Windows 7 or 8. It seems to be a bit random.
