on SD CARD? because I find that inside my SD CARD is really messy with all these weird folders. I want to wipe all of it and start clean in the SD CARD.
If I do, will it mess up my phone, root, and other phone system settings?
please answer. thanks .
Yes but you have to make it back into a gold card.

Why? My Gold card is in a Jar on my desk. I have an 8 gig with just music and a 32 gig with 16gigs of whatever. I use it mostly. I never made it into a gold card.
Yeah, there is absolutely no reason you have to make it a gold card. I have formatted my non-gold-card SD card a couple of times when I felt like things were getting messy there.
I should mention that some of my apps stopped working (presumably the ones that were installed on the SD card) after the format, though I was not concerned about that since I was just getting prepared to flash a new ROM at the time.
I read somewhere here that a gold card is needed to flash a different ROM

No, you only need the gold card to root. After that its useless lol from the way I read at least . I have flashed at least 100 times with out a gold card , at least 100 lol

The only time the gold card is used is to bypass superCID on the initial downgrade. So no you don't need it to flash custom roms.

Once rooted, u don't need GC anymore. Just make sure the rom u install preserves root.

This isn't necessary unless you are s-on, you can still flash from non rooted to rooted with s-off. The gold card is used to bypass the superCID so you can downgrade the radio so you can s-off. Once you are s-off you can flash any rom through hboot just as you would a radio.

Is the goldcard phone specific or model specific. Can I use the same goldcard on both if our inspires or will each phone need its own goldcard?

I have a related goldcard question...I'm purchasing a 16gb goldcard...on it's way. Is there an easy way to transfer goldcard from the old sd card to the new one or will I have to go through requesting a new image for it?
The image is card specific.
You'll have to remake it if you want to make the 16 Gb card gold card. It isn't necessary though. You only need the goldcard for rooting. After you are rooted you don't need it anymore.

I still have the gold card I made when I originally rooted my inspire about 6 months ago. This should still work with the new hack kit for the GB update, right?
Yes it will
sweet. thanks. better safe than sorry, right?
Once I have the rom's and other upgrades flashed that I want, do I need to keep the goldcard in the phone? Does it have to be in anytime I flash a different rom? Or just for the rooting process?

You can leave the goldcard in or remove it and use any card you want. Gold card is only needed for the initial downgrade to acquire root/s-off.

Hello all!
I have been trying to fix this problem for over 3 months now with no success. I cannot find no answers on any Android forums or Google. Thus, I have finally decided to start a post explaining my problem.
I got my HTC Inspire during summer. I rooted it using the long method, which I forgot the name of. After that I installed the ROM Leedroid 3.3.3. I also installed the 3.2.1 Kernel that the LeeDroid site has. I have become bored of this ROM and wanted to change into a ROM with Sense 3.0. Here's the problem. I have tried numerous ROMs, which include Honeysense 8.0, Honey3D, Android Revolution 6.1.x, RcMix3D and CyanogenMod 7. The only ROM that works for my phone is the CyanogenMod 7, but I do not like the interface. None of the other ROMs work. I flash them correctly (I know what to wipe so you don't need to suggest I just reflash and try to wipe the dalvik cache etc.), but all of these ROMs, once flashed, when they do the first boot the phone just freezes at the white HTC logo. Now there were a few instances where I had Honeysense 8.0 and Android Revolution load up, but after using them for less than a day, the phone would freeze up in use and I would have to do a battery pull to restart the phone, but it would not load up and stay on the white HTC screen. I would just restore my backup of LeeDroid and it would load up no problem. I also have tried to un-root my phone, then root it again and try one of these ROMs, but the phone would still get stuck on the white HTC screen. Anyone have any idea what the heck is wrong? I am really about to throw this phone out because it has frustrated me beyond belief. Please all the help that you guys can give me would be VERY GREATLY appreciated because I am at a dead end with this issue. Thank you very much.
P.S. I have not changed the Radio. Did not add themes or do anything else before the first boot.
I know you said you didn't do anything else, but did you by chance do any under volting, or over clocking?
Sent from my pos, I mean awesome phone.
Thank you for the response. I have screwed around with SetCPU before but I do not remember if I set the clocks back to and voltage back to default. I have long removed SetCPU from my phone.

hmm I wonder if something went weird when you tried to unroot..if you haven't already tried this method then there is a thread in the dev section for restoring the phone back to "out of the box" state. Not saying this will work or even fix your problem but you can always try that method to unroot and reroot using attn1's hack kit.
Well I tried to unroot it, that is I got back to S-ON and put on the RUU ROM, the one that came with the phone. Then I rerooted using the method you mentioned but no go.

that's so odd, I had some problems flashing at first but that was mainly due to not wiping and restoring system files by accident. My idea to unroot and then reroot to give you a fresh start was my best idea, sorry man I couldn't be more help! hopefully someone here will be able to get you fixed u

Have you tried wiping your sd card through recovery along with everything else. Could be something on sd card jamming you up. Back up sd card to computer first. Mount through recovery. Format from pc side and put stuff back on that you want. Then flash a Rom. It's a long shot but worth a try.

Hmm, I think IM all out if ideas.
Format sd card
Factory reset
Make sure you have s-off
Even though you just formatEd card, wipe davlik, system, cache etc.
Download n install new ROM
I would think if you formatted everything, wiped everything and had s-off it should work. Gl my friend hope you get it figured out.

Well to install a ROM I usually clear the cache, clear the system, do a restore, clear the dalvik cache. Basically everything that people say you have to do. For the ARHD 6.1.4 ROM I used SuperWipe that the developer recommends to use. And yes I use the newest version of the Ace Hack Kit to unroot and root my phone.

I was trying to install the new Android Revolution HD ICS Rom, I installed it through ROM Manager and it wouldn't boot up. I thought I would try and update my phone with PG58IMG.zip in the bootloader, however it says the CID is wrong, and I now can't access anything in the bootloader or recovery to try and fix it. Anyone got any ideas of something I can do? To at least remove PG58IMG.zip from my SD Card anyway.
Thanks
Umm...pull out the SD card before booting the phone...? Maybe...? -_-

Yeah, sorry. I didn't think that Recovery would be able to do anything without SD Card, but it can. *noob moment* :$
Do you know why Android Revolution HD won't boot up after being flashed? It's the same version you have according to your signature.

Just follow the steps carefully on Mike's thread and you won't have any problems. Just take the time to read them.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Sounds to me like you don't have SuperCID.
In order to be able to flash the firmware that Mike provides, you need to have SuperCID.
Check the tutorial on how to do that in the S-Off,Root,SuperCID thread here.
I have S-OFF, however the bootloader says locked? I now can't boot into any ROM it seems. Not sure what's wrong?
EDIT: Managed to get boot by restoring old backup. Now going to try flashing ROM again, could be something to do with ICS Rom maybe. Thanks for your help everyone. However anyone who knows why I can't flash any ICS Rom, please let me know
U also need 3.12 firmware if upgrading to ics. Correct me if i am wrong.

Weird bc i just looked in rom manager and cant locate that rom. Rom manager isnt going to put ics roms that require supercid and firmware 3.12 bc if they did alot of ppl would be bricking their sensations and blowing up the comments on the rom manager app.

No. If you don't pull the battery while the phone is running you won't fry your emmc.
Just backup your current system from recovery, do a full wipe (not sd card!!) And flash the ROM zip from recovery. If you unlocked with htcdev you need to flash the boot.img separately afterwards. Reboot. Done. It's simple like that.

It's not great, its only meant to give you a taste of android 4.0 just wait for the correct kernels to provide fixes for issues
