Unbrick your Qmobile Noir A8 - Miscellaneous Android Development

I bricked my Qmobile Noir A8 by flashing a rom that was not meant for it. Upon enquiry, I was told that if we downgrade Qmobile Noir A8 from Jellybean to Icecream Sandwich, it will be bricked (dead). But I tried downgrading it as the ICS handles battery much better that JB.
Result was as I was told, I ended up with a dead A8.
Then i researched and after a day, I tried TestPoints but failed. Then after some hit and trials I found that TestPoints were right I was not doing it right. Then I made a modified cable for Qmobile A8 (found it on the internet) and tried it. WOW! it actually worked and my A8 is restored.
So for you all who bricked their Qmobile Noir A8, follow this procedure to bring back your Qmobile from the dead:-
1. Qmobile has its testpoint which is known as KCOLO or COLO. Its the golden testpoint on the motherboard if you open your A8. But that's not a good option as we don't want to open the A8 (I actually did that to verify testpoint). But still if you want to do it, open your A8 and you will see some golden testpoints marked GND, VBAT, TX, RX and PWR. There are some small golden testpoints as well. You have to short GND with KCOLO test point (as seen in the attachment 1, the actual golden testpoints on Qmobile Noir A8 near SIM jackets). then simply open SP flash tool and select the scatter file, then choose the files (preloader etc) and click on download. Then simply plugin the usb cable without battery. DO NOT INSERT BATTERY FOR THIS METHOD. You will see that flashing will start and your set will be good to go.
2. This method is simple and it does not involve opening your QMobile A8. But still you have to do some hardware job. You need to modify your normal usb cable to short GND and KCOLO testpoints. The microusb connector (which is inserted into mobile) has 5 pins but only 4 of them are used. Please refer to the picture in attachment 2. The 4th pin is not used in the cable but in Qmobile A8, it is connected with KCOLO test point. So what you need to do is open the micro usb connector that is connected to the mobile and short 1st and 2nd pins (KCOLO and GND).
Now do all the steps as you normally do to flash a rom using SP flash tool and click on download. Now plugin the usb cable to the mobile and connect it to the PC without battery. DO NOT INSERT BATTERY. your qmobile will be flashed and back again.
The reason for not inserting the battery is that the mobile gets power from the usb.
By shorting GND and KCOLO your android goes into forced bootloader mode when it is off and connected to PC.
The modified cable can be used again for all normal operations but if you turn off your mobile and then connect it to PC, it will always be in forced bootloader mode.
I hope that this will be helpful to all those who accidentally bricked their Qmobile Noir A8 (thinking they are really smart and they know all things about flashing ROMs and get over confident sometimes like I did...)
NOTE : - This cable can be used for all Android sets according to many people and is shared all over the internet though I cannot verify it at the moment as I don't have any other android....

(GUIDE): "Hard Bricking" & "Resurrecting" the A110 made easy-

Well I finally managed to Hard Brick my A110 a few days back. I was thinking that everything was lost and my A110 was as good as a brick! But I struggled with it for two days and finally managed to bring it back to life! This is how I hard bricked it, but resurrected it too....
Hard brick:
The hard brick happens when you flash a non A110 stock ROM through SP flash. This happens when you get overconfident during ROM development experiments and forget the basic fact that flashing the "pre-loader" accidentally of any other ROM( (even if it is of MT6577) that is different from A110 leads to the phone going dead. The charge LED dies, and the phone is totally in alien land when the PC sees it through the USB cable You cannot flash anything through the SP flash any more. The phone will not power on or boot. Welcome to the land of bricked phones!
Resurrection:
1) First perform an uninstall of the MMX/Mobistel drivers you already have on
your P.C. Install the drivers again.
2) Take a piece of insulated wire (Around 3 cms long) and solder a 10K resistor
to one end. To the other end solder a pin to the pin head so that the tip is
free.
3) Remove your phone battery and keep the phone ready.
4) On the PC/Laptop, start SP flash tool and select the right scatter from the factory stock A110 ROM. un-tick all except the first five (Preloader, DSP_BL, MBR, EBR1, UBOOT) + CWM recovery (You should have replaced default recovery with CWM recovery in the ROM folder). Click "Firmware-upgrade, Download.
5) With battery taken off from your phone connect it to the PC/Lap using the USB cable.
6) Now touch the resistor end to the USB Cable outer part (GND) visible at the point of USB connector connected to the phone.
7) Touch the other part (pin end) to all visible copper terminals one by one.
8) Now without removing the cable, place the battery back.
9) Now keep your fingers crossed. If you have luck, you will see the red, blue, green and finally yellow lines on the SP tool window. You are done!!!
10) If your battery was having good charge when you were bricked, you can now power on to recovery mode and flash your CWM saved ROM or any other ROM.
11) If your battery was low, when you were bricked, leave it to charge for an hour before attempting to flash the entire stock ROM through SP flash or CWM.
Cheers!!!:victory:

Hard brick occurs when we flash preloader of different incompatible fone ryt...and hence fone wont detect on spflash tool..
What if we install the preloader drivers of that incompatible device; can we get the fone to detect in spflashtools ? If it wrks, then we can flash back the A110 preloader files ryt ?
Some one with a hardbricked device ,pls try it out if possible, before doing the hardware method suggested by OP

In Step 7 which "visible copper terminals" are meant?
The Phone is connected to PC and the other end of data cable is pluged into phone, so there are no copper pins to touch.
is it possible to do same on mmx a87... m8ne is also hard bricked....

Hi, to unbrick a device, you can use in general a USB Jig. It is a litile USB you plug in to your device and it gets unbricked in 5s. This looks a little magical but it works. In fact, most companies protect their devices from hard-brick by putting a second, non software reachable memory whith a copy of its bootloader. Inserting a USB with a 300kOhm (called USB Jig) resistance makes it restore the bootloader, and then it become unbricked and you can load a new ROM to your device.
Here are some videos on how to make a USB Jig, and how to use it. (you just have to plug it in reality)
Well, just search "USB jig" on youtube and you'll find tons of good results, especially the three first ones.
PS: you may either create your own USB jig or buy one from a store or the internet.

Hey friends i produely present New method to ROOT KARBONN A1+
as korbonn a1+ is realizing new s/w and h/w version so my old method is not working for new mobiles
SO HERE IS A NEW METHOD
LETS BEGIN
0.Download Brush wizard
1 phone card out, leaving only the memory card. Restore factory settings and dual boot WIPE.
2.usb debugging and unknown sources turned on, connect the data cable, open the Brush wizard.
3 Brush Wizard to connect the phone and select ROOT unlocked, the first will be prompted to root successfully, what appears on the phone do not control, direct point Brush Wizard software reboot the device.
4 Do not unplug the cable after the restart, look there is no authorization management. There it means success, there is no error or the like, click again to root crack.
5 Because of different phone models, like, more or less will differ, if again or not, would not have carried out. Back contact me. We work something out.

Jiayu G3S MT6589 Bricked without any flashing

Hello,
I have Jiayu G3S MT6589 and phone was working perfect, I was keeping it in my pocket and yesterday i took the phone off the pocket and i couldn't boot it. I can't charge it either. I tried to put other battery in my phone and it still didn't boot up. But when i connect it by USB i can see that its MTK USB Port, or MTK DA port or something like this (that's after installing drivers, before I installed it i was getting Unknown Device on the list - it shold be MT65xx Preloader) So i tried to flash a stock rom (SP flash tool), but i can't do it too - I'm getting error connected with DRAM, or the red bar is loading like 100% and then nothing..I can wait and wait and nothing more...
I didn't broke my phone like it was never on the floor or something like that and I didn't change Preloader by SP Flash Tools
It's very important to me to fix it fast because I'm working on dual sim and I need smartphone... I don't want to send it back to China - it would take at least 2 months to complete repair, so I'm determinated to do it on my own, but I need your help...

Hi
Try this:
1:Remove the battery, and keep the phone WITHOUT the battery for >2 hours
2: Re-insert the battery and charge the phone (check if its charging) either by the led (in case it haves one), or by the off-line charge animation
3: If its charging GOOD , continue to the next step, if its not, im affraid its really bricked (if the phone doesnt display the off-line charge animation its in most mtk devices an hard brick)
4: If the phone charges ok, then re-flash ALL the nand via SPFlashTools (including the pre-loader) keep in mind to flash the right spflashtools rom version
5: And of course you need to have the Mediatek drivers installed for this to work, if your using windows8 , you may have some drivers problems, since the mediatek drivers have issues with this windows version, so just use windows 7 or xp.
For the drivers download this ones:

Thanks for your reply... I left the phone without battery for 4 hours, and it's not charging...
But what I've noticed:
When i connect phone with battery it shows on computer as MTK USB Port, then when i take the battery out (and it's still connected) it disappears, but when i hold VOL- it shows again, but still I can't flash...
I've checked voltage on phone (battery slot) and it's like 0.5V-2V when the phone is connected, so I guess the phone charges the battery...
I've decided to send it back to Pandawill but they requested a short movie showing what is happening...
I'll send phone on Monday if it won't start, so if you have any ideas to make it work...I will be very happy
Thanks
I had this for a number of G3S and G3ST devices, usually after a year or two of usage. These emmc chips from china phones wear out too fast.
If you are know what you doing then if
1. Preloader is loaded but (so USB cable and internal cable between connection board and motherboard is ok)
2.
I'm getting error connected with DRAM, or the red bar is loading like 100% and then nothing..I can wait and wait and nothing more...
Click to collapse
its dead eMMC chip.
You can replace it in local service, you just need engineer skilled enough to make reboll. Also you can get a bonus - internal flash memory upgrade from 4GB to 8GB or maybe even more.
