Hey mate the animation looks awesome. Sadly it's not working on my SGP312. I don't know why but when I boot my tablet it's showing me the old android honeycomb bootanimation. I'm on android 4.4.4 kitkat maybe it has something to do with it do i have to delete the original animation? I just renamed it

The file should be named bootanimation.zip and placed in \data\local with its properties set to 644 (rw-r--r--). You do not have to do anything with the stock bootanimation.zip file located in \system\media.

Strange. All bootanimations i installed manually or via flashable .zip replaced stock \system\media bootanimation.zip.
As for the bootanimation itself, it's nice, but needs renovation a bit: 2013---->2014, android 4.1.2---->4.4.4, correct memory size (16,32GB).

It is unnecessary to replace the stock bootanimation.zip located in \system\media. If a bootanimation.zip file exists in \data\local when Android boots, Android will use that file instead of the one in \system\media. I have created several bootanimation.zip files (my latest is Remy LaCroix wearing a bikini and working a hula hoop with sound) and I have always placed them in \data\local.

@Cat McGowan
Tried on 5.1.1 what was written above. Placed bootanimation.zip to data/local/ set 0644, rebooted and... saw an old stock boot animation....
Placed it to \system\media and it is working good.

Thunderbolt Bootanimation Skyradier ROM

This is a port of the thunderbolt bootanimation for the incredible. It does not currently have sound. I'm working on it.
Install in the /system/media file folder using root explorer and rename it bootanimation so its bootanimation.zip not bootanimation.zip.zip.
Enjoy
*** Update**** Correct sound file****
Extract the file and place the mp3 in the same /system/media file folder. No renaming is required.
Preview please??
I have placed the files in the system/media folder but everytime I reboot the phone, it still has the original droid inc boot animation.
No luck.
I have placed the files in the /system/media
I also tried placing the files in the /data/local folder
To test the animation locally I installed Gscript Lite and made a script called "bootanimation".
Inside the script is:
TIMEOUT=15
( bootanimation & sleep $TIMEOUT; kill $! 2>/dev/null )
or simply run this command from ADB in a command prompt from your PC:
adb shell bootanimation
Any tips on how to get this animation installed correctly?
NOTE: I am running this ROM: Warm Z TwoPointTwo [RLS1] [2/23/2011]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901822
***EDIT***
I got it working on the Warm Z ROM.
Just place the 2 files in the /system/customize/resource folder (Root Explorer works well for this)
Example:
/system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
/system/customize/resource/android_audio.mp3
Also... use 7zip when creating bootanimation.zip files
compression = store
make sure to look inside the zip file and remove any "Thumbs.db" files or you may get a flicker when playing the animation.
(I attached my version of the boot animation here. Use the "android_audio.mp3" file from the first post)
NOW TO EDIT THIS ANIMATION TO FADE OUT PROPERLY =)
I will just update this post with the finished animation

I appreciate it. I only had time to test it on the skyradier Rom. Was not sure about the configuration on other roms
When I compressed the png files, I edited the desc.txt to run at 15fps. That was the only way I was able to get it so it wouldn't lag.
If anyone has any ideas to make it better let me know. Kinda new to this stuff but am a quick learner.
Cool. Works in incrediblyre-ingineered
now that its all figured out can someone make it a flashable zip?
Cm7 PRO Works fine.

I'll see what I can do. I'll post when I have something finished.
I put the files in the folder specified by synaptyc but the audio doesn't work(I know it was right cause the other bootanimation was found here). I'm running incredibly reengineered v2.3
Ideas?

I'll try to Look around to see what I find in that Rom but it should work on all roms if install in the right directories. Make sure that it has the correct file android_audio.mp3. It's very easy to install through root explorer

Blue Droid Boot Animation

Use a file manager App Like Root Explorer to copy the bootanimation.zip
file to the "/data/local" folder on your phone.
BAM1 is the bootanimation on the right
BAM2 is the bootanimation on the left
You must only copy the bootanimation.zip file in the BAM1/ BAM2 folder
to the "/data/local" folder or it will not work.

I really liked the boot animation posted by fluxgfx
on page 3. I just didnt like the MIUI logo being there ( I run CM7)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139219&page=3
Thankfully fluxgfx posted the original MIUI theme file on page 4.
A couple hours of editing later.. And my bootanimations were done.

That's not right for the inc. It's system/media for AOSP and system/customize/resource for Sense.
I'm running CM7 and put mine in system/media. Works fine.
Nice job btw, this looks really good.
Link not working for me.

I got it from another rom, but the bootanimation by itself wasn't shared so I had to take it out of the rom manually. does this also include the sound effects?

Hihi, can i request as change some picture? meaning remove all 00121.jpg onward with replace the attached picture?
you can do that yourself
open (do not unzip!) the bootanimation, go to the appropriate place where you want to start changing the pics, then replace them as you like, but be sure to STORE the pics with no compression or it won't work!
sanim.zip
I renamed the file to bootanimation.zip. It didnt work. Then i renamed it to sanim.zip and it works. Im on xxkpq
as has been discussed in other threads, it depends on what kernel you're using whether it's bootanimation.zip or sanim.zip. whichever you name it is dependent on what you see in the system media folder. I use bootanimation.zip because sanim.zip is a redirectional file pointing at bootanimation.zip and cannot be modified if I want bootanimation to work

[BOOT ANIMATION] Watch dogs S7 edge .qmg bootanimation G935F

Hey i created a watchdogs bootanimation for our beloved s7 edge.
Source: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/themes-apps/boot-animation-watchdogs-v2-1-t2733053
How i did it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/how-to-create-qmg-boot-animations-t2217795 (dont forget to rename them as: bootsamsung.qmg bootsamsungloop.qmg and shutdown.qmg)
ROOT REQUIRED!!!!
How to install:
Download the files here: MEDIAFIRE
get a root explorer (ES File Explorer or MIXplorer)
copy all the 3 .qmg files and put them to /system/media
select every single .qmg animation and go to Properties. Change the permissions to rw- r- r- (last part was already set when i did it with MIXplorer)
Now restart your Phone and you are fine with your new bootanimation ^^
SPENDEN / DONATE here: paypal.me/twinko
PREVIEW:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZKoMYzUrac
for some the following app will do it aswell (didnt worked for me) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tkstudio.sboot
you want sound with it:
DarkRoms said:
BUT I WANT SOUND, TOO. HOW CAN I GET THIS?
Well you dont even have to send me the File. You need Es File Explorer for it btw
Just cut a small part from your favourite song or Sound Effect and rename it PowerOn.ogg . Now move it to /system/media/audio/ui and keep pressing on it until the little bar on the bottom appear. Go to More>Properties and change Permissions to rw- r- r- ( At read check all Ticks. And at write check the first tick)
Thats all now restart Phone and enjoy sound!

Yes its my cat Bootsplash, i just didnt renamed it to avoid problems
can I ask what, it just shows black screen after I exported my bootsamsung.qmg what is the correct photo resolution?
my advice would befollow this tutorial:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/how-to-create-qmg-boot-animations-t2217795
The resultion should be the resolution of your screen. Pick the one u choose in settings of your samsung phone.
