[Q] wi-fi passwords on un-rooted device - Optimus One, P500, V Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have encountered a problem I can't solve myself so I would really welcome any form of help.
There is a wi-fi network that I have remembered on my phone, however, I really can't remember the password, so I can't connect on in with my lap-top computer. I can't reset the router to its default settings or to log in to the router and look for the password, it's really impossible.
So the thing I want is, how can I get the wi-fi passwords from my phone and get the password I need?
I know that with rooted device, this wouldn't be a problem, I tried to get wifi passwords with rooted devices and it was pretty easy, but that's not this case.
I have the wifi remembered only in this device which isn't rooted and I didn't find a way to get the password I need.
Also, I haven't found way to temp. root the device or to root the device without losing the passwords.
Since it's not some v10a version or anything similiar, it can't be rooted by an application // according to my research
Specifications:
Model number: LG-P500
Android version: 2.3.3
Kernel version: 2.6.35.10-perf [email protected] #1
Build number: GINGERBREAD
Software version: LG-P500-20a
If you could help me, I would be very, very glad since it's really very, very important for me, thanks for any tip

I do not know any solution if you do not have root acces
but if you have, use any explorer with su permisions (root explorer, root browser, es file explorer): navigate to the root directory /data/misc/wifi and open the document wpa_supplicant.conf

Solved
I decided to root my device after all and then it was really a piece of cake, have all my passwords now stored in my PC.
Would be nice if some mod locked this topic, thanks

[Q] Removing or Locking Wifi Capabilities on Android

Hi guys,
My question is like this: is is possible to remove or password protect (i.e. locking) WiFi capabilities on an android device (rooted or not)?
I know this can be achieved through renaming a driver file, though I am not sure which one and one would need a rooted phone after all.
The best option is of course locking WiFi with a a password...
Please do not ask why, as it is a pain to explain...
~confuded
P.S. The user ha no idea if his phone is rooted or not, or how to access the rooted filesystem, or how to rename system files (or which ones).

About Ad-Hoc Networks (JoikuSpot)

Hi everyone!
Yes, I am a noob...
Infos:
I already know that every Android device needs a new "wpa_supplicant" file for connecting to Ad-Hoc Networks e.g. created by my Nokia's JoikuSpot or sth. else...
If there's another option, tell me
Also I've heard about this application:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree
that supposedly can be installed on an unrooted device!
The question:
For me it doesn't make sense, that you can install an app which has access to all files without rooting the tablet at first.
Can I replace the wpa_supplicant without rooting and be happy with tethering 3G from my phone to the tablet?
AdHoc Networks are my only cause for rooting but it seems to be quite difficult, maybe no one did it already with the slate ... I can't find instructions to do it anyway...
Please HELP

[Q] IP Address unavailable

Hi guys i have a problem with my IP address when i go to settings>about phone>status my IP address says unavailable ive tried switching my phone off but nothing works i think this is affecting my wifi as well because it also says settings not responding when i switch it on and when i use other applications to switch it on they fail when they are collectiing my wifi address someone please help me i miss WiFi:crying::crying:
Since you didn't post the device information (ie phone model) nor the router you use, it doesn't allow us forums users to give you the best options to troubleshoot the problem your having
Some generic options to try
1) try powercycling the router (linksys have a tendency of dropping Wifi connections)
2) check to see if the wifi toggle is on (the settings menu)
I have the same problem as well:
my phone specs:
Software version: L720VPUEMK2
Device model: SPH-L720
Android version: 4.4.2
A couple of days ago i had installed the newest update for the s4 and when it had finished installing both the bluetooth address and the ip address said unavailable and i am now unable to connect to any internet

It looks like your efs has been missing. If you have a backup.Restore it.
Flash the modem separately may help too.

if you r having problem with efs file then try this.
1> you need to root your phone first. check out forums there are tons of tut's available.
2> goto this post and download efs professional zip.(you have to extract it)
3> enable usb debugging in developers mode and make sure you have all the usb/adb drivers installed on your phone.(install universal adb drivers that will work fine)
4> open efs professional.exe and connect your device.
5> now go to backups tab and select your device under device filter tab and then click backup. wait for backup to be complete.
6> now go to restore tab and under backup archives select one of the .tar.gz file I prefer (device)(although it doesn't matter) and hit resotre.
7> your device will reboot and you are done.
if you still have the problem
download root explorer and goto efs folder in root directory. then find this file - 'nv_data.bin.md5' and delete it and restart the phone.
if this helped then hit the thanks.

SOLUTION!!
Ok, i've been searching for month how to spoof MAC address on our device, but anybody helped me.
So i've tried all possible steps to change the MAC address and finally i've done it!
Here's the procedure i've followed:
1. (Requirements) Have a rooted device. (i don't know if busybox is required but in doubt, install it)
2. Install a file manager (Root explorer reccomended)
3. Go in settings, wifi, tap the three point at bottom right, advanced, and disable "scanning always avaible"
4. Open Root Explorer and go in this directory: /sys/devices/fb000000.qcom.wcnss-wlan and you'll find a file called: "wcnss_mac_addr"
5. Open "wcnss_mac_addr" with text editor
6. you'll see only your current MAC address. You can just edit it (edit only last digit recomended) and Save changes.
7. Disable and re-enable Wifi, and you've just edited your MAC address! Enjoy
Important: The Mac address will restore as default everytime you reboot your phone.
sorry for the basic english because i'm italian, if you have any question please ask me.
I hope i've helped you.

[ROOT] Blocked from internet? Renew trial for free limited WiFi access? *Solution*

WARNING: THIS IS ILLEGAL IN SOME PLACES.
If you are blocked from the internet at any place like the library, or school, or anywhere else here is the solution to getting unblocked.
First, you MUST be rooted to even attempt to do this. If you aren't rooted use Kingo root or Iroot. If neither work then just PM me and i will help you.
Second, after you are rooted you go to the app store and download the app Mac Changer .
When the app is finished downloaded make sure that you have backed up everything n your device via recovery on a SD CARD (regular storage can be used).
What this app does is change you MAC address and changing your MAC address can mess your device up in a way if done incorrectly.
An issue that some people have are bootloops or bricks etc.
If you follow everything in this guide then you will be fine. Third open the app and Grant SU access then it is pretty straight forward after that put in a new Mac Address
and Save. ONCE YOU RESTART OLD MAC ADDRESS WILL RESTORE
That's it thanks for reading my guide
