I am a complete noob to smartphones and the Relay is my first.
I have a stock, unrooted, unmolested T-mobile $400 prepaid Galaxy S Relay 4G, did the update to Jelly Bean via wi-fi. I've already sent one in for replacement because of the following problems, and the new one behaved the same way.
1. The home screen and pulldown menu do not rotate by gyroscope regardless of the screen rotate setting. This would not be a big deal, except that when the phone comes out of the box, they do rotate (it also rotates to keyboard when keyboard is open). The current phone stopped rotating after I did the update but the old one definitely stopped rotating before then, not sure why or when. It seems subzerobob had this same problem but I can't find any resolution he might have enjoyed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35827475&postcount=748
2. Every time the phone is turned off and on, the time and date setting reset to default which seems to be "automatic time/automatic time zone". This does not work for my purposes and I find it extremely irritating besides.
Can anyone point me in the right direction here or even just explain why these things are happening? I feel like I'm going crazy and can hardly find any similar complaints, and T-mobile has been useless, verging on hostile ever since I bought this cursed thing.
If I recall correctly, the chipset used by our phone has the persistent real time clock disabled by default. And not just in our phone, but any phone that uses it. Apparently there's some sort of bug in it. I believe the people putting together our CM rom have successfully enabled it though.

I switched roms to cog 4 and I didnt notice anything weird and then a few hours later I noticed that my auto rotate was not working. when I say not working I mean relly not working, when I open any app it will only open in landscape mode and the home screen is only viewable in portrait mode.
I have flashed back to stock, done a master clear, reflashed cog 4. I am at a loss now. Any help would really be appreciated.
I don't know if it will work for you, but......go to settings; display; scroll down to horizontal calibration and lay your phone on its back....follow directions.....and hopefully all is better.
I definitely was overthinking the problem and getting NO help from those in the know. I UTFSE (nice acronym) for hours and assumed that one of the ROMs had an I9000 kernel and corrupted the accelerometer.
I was probably too tired from nicely suggested (UsingTheF......SearchEngine) and assumed horizontal was from Upright Y axis, X side axis, but not Z (face up).
My own fault and probably one of the reasons no one chose to answer my requests.
Holy hell I must have tried this 5 times before I wiped and then loaded a new rom. everytime I did it it would callibrate it was just stuck dead in the center. I did it now and it worked.
Thank you for getting me to retry the simple things (now I seem like a moron, but I swear I really did try it haha)
I am having problems with the swipe down Notification bar on my Desire HD. I would have posted it in there, but this is a general problem, as I have seen it on several android phones in other forums. However, the ones I have seen are all HTC. Whether this is a manufacturer related issue I do not know.
Put quite simply; it won't slide down in portrait. But when I switch to landscape it works perfectly fine.
One of the suggestions was to use Draw Pad and see if there were any deadspots on the touchscreen. So I go nuts, and find a bar about half an inch on the top of the screen that isn't responding, unless I flick upwards quite quickly. But it's not a deadspot, as when I'm using that part of the phone in landscape it works perfectly. I can also swipe down in landscape from the corner (top right) perfect as well. So I would say it can't be the hardware.
The last time the notification bar worked was when I was in Tweetdeck, and swiped like mad through a load of tweets to class them as 'Read'. I've since uninstalled Tweetdeck, restarted my phone (both by using Restart and by removing the battery), and returned the phone to Factory Settings, but nothing works.
I understand that I can install a ROM as a last resort, but I am pretty sure that there must be an app that can reset the touchscreen calibration or something similar, to reset the dimensions of the screen when it's in portrait, or a hidden setting that can reset it. My phone isn't rooted, so I would much rather fix the problem, rather than overwrite it to save the extra work when I wouldn't really appreciate a rooted phone with a custom ROM.
I am running Android 2.3.3 with HTC Sense 2.1. My Kernel Version is 2.6.35.10-gd2564fb | htc-kernel(at symbol)and18-2 #1. The build number is 2.50.405.2 CL87995 release-keys.
(The (at symbol) is because I am new and outside links are forbidden for new users)
My phone isn't rooted, however I am not averse to doing so if it helps solve the problem. I have minimal experience with the Terminal, however, so if it is required, I could do with instructions rather than 'do X and Y'.
Thanks, and sorry for the wall of text.
So, I really really wanted to love this tablet. The disappointments have been many, but this focuses on the most severe and frustrating one.
Whenever I am using Dabbler, Skecthbook Pro, ArtFlow, or any other pen-enabled apps, the weirdest things start to happen. It works OK for a while, but then the tablet only starts receiving input from the stylus. Not even UI elements are usable with my fingers. PLEASE NOTE: I do know the tablet has a stylus-only mode, and this is NOT enabled. PLEASE ALSO NOTE: No, the stylus-only mode in the apps is not enabled either.
After a fresh reboot, I open the drawing app and everything works. Palm-rejection is gorgeous, pen accuracy is spot-on, multitouch gestures as pinch to zoom and panning work flawlessly. But after a while, or after I exit the app and return, it starts progressively degrading performance. At first it only accepts pinch to zoom like 50% of the time. Then it gets worse, until I can't do a thing without the stylus - not even the back, home and multitasking buttons.
I spoke with an nvidia tech support rep, and after a back and forth of emails (mostly me giving him info about the proof of purchase, serial number, etc) he told me to contact the seller (Amazon) and ask for a replacement.
I was about to go ahead and replace it, but I wanted to know if any of you are getting the same issues. On the latest official ROM, can everybody use Dabbler, Autodesk Skechbook, etc. for PROLONGED periods of time, and with a high tablet up time, without issues? Is this issue device-specific?
THANKS so much for any help and sorry for long post.
Searched around, and didn't see this one. Tablet was a refurb, added the keyboard dock, updated to last system asus released, unlocked the bootloader, rooted. System is stock 4.2.1 with Google bloatware frozen and a handful of free apps, nothing particularly exciting (unless you're thrilled by fbreader, etc.).
Occasionally, the screen "rolls up" to a thin area at the top of the screen. A "swat" (light tap) on the top or sides brings it back, which implies the cable is loose or making intermittent contact. Since the site doesn't allow video as attachment, I stuck a badly-shot short 4M FLV video at http://bes.lofcom.com/tf300t/ to explain better the symptoms. Clearly not too worried about the warranty tag at this point, but of course tearing apart any electronic device should only be attempted as a last resort.
Weird thing is, though, is that it never does it during the two boot screens...even when it's acting up, the initial asus screen and the second metallic-logo spinning-balls screen look fine, but at the moment it switches to the PIN screen it'll roll-up, implying a software cause. Which doesn't jive with tapping it to get it back.
So before I get out the chain saw to take it apart (kidding!), I'm wondering if there's anything else I should look at first.
So, what the title says, I just downloaded it from xpirifirm and Installed it using flashtool, am hoping to fix the problem with voice messages from WhatsApp and messenger as well (basically 1 in 10 voice messages I send go silent in the middle of the recording), there is not a changelog from Sony but they never give any so I hope this could be more than just a security patch, I want to know if any of you have installed it and if you have noticed any fix, thanks, If I find out something I will tell you. Thanks for reading.
Well, sadly I couldn't fix the issue with the voice notes, but I disabled the "ok Google" feature from the Google assistant and I haven't had any problem with voicenotes anymore, let's see if it stays like that.
It didnt solved the problem, I plan to go back to android 9
Does not feel any fix, but so frustrating 'couse battery capability is much much worse...
I think the fingerprint at least is faster and more reliable.

I fixed the voice messages disabling the feedback tactile of 3 under screen buttons
Did the upgrade change your GPS functionality? Since the day I updated, my phone started drifting. I have 25 kilometers displacement on a day staying permanently at my home office. Compared to 0.5 kilometers before the update.
I didn't understand how you fixed the voice messages, can you be more specific?
Hey guys, it's July 9th and the last firmware released for xperia xz2 is 52.1.A.2.1, will Sony stop supporting this device or what? Btw my cellphone has now a ghost touch.

Same for me! Just about a week or so, I am annoyed by the quick settings bar being occasionally pulled from top while typing on the keyboard or working in apps. With the "Show taps" option turned on from the developer settings, I can clearly see that the device sometimes detects an extra tap (draws the corresponding circle) at the very top of the screen right after I tap somewhere else. This activates the system bar and switches the focus from the app. This only happened before with the screen very dirty or wet (i.e. in the rain). However, this time cleaning it and rebooting the system didn't help. My initial idea was that I could have damaged the screen sensors or other hardware somehow. But this might be instead a planned action to support the upcoming models' sales Interestingly, there was no software update accompanying the behaviour change — seems like there are some remotely controlled sensor options their engineers could be playing around.

Thanks for sharing your experience, well I still have the ghost touch but now occurs more often and I have had another issue since some months ago ad well and tje thing is that sometimes the proximity sensor "detects" it's being covered and makes the screen flash several times during a call or hearing voice notes in whatsap, sometimes the failure is as bad that I have to restart the phone, I don't know what could be causing this problem but I have to say that I have dropped some water in my cellphone in the past two or three times, and I don't know, maybe some of this water came into the phone through the earpiece and messed with the upper part of the screen and the other sensor up there, my phone os almost a year old now, Do you guys think it might mot be water resistant anymore? And btw, have you dropped water in the phone as well? Thanks for reading.
