Android to Android MTP/PTP & USB OTG - Android General

Hello,
how can I share files between two android devices using USB OTG and PTP or MTP protocols? Or even better, between camera (PTP) and Android device (camera is detected correctly by phone and reacts on USB connection).
I know that Android can act as MTP or PTP slave. I want it to act as master.
Any ideas?
--
Just to be clear -- I've connected it this way: Android Phone -- USB OTG cable -- USB A-to-miniB -- Camera. Camera supports PTP. I see camera in USB list on phone, and camera notifies me that it is connected to computer, so physical connection is ok, only software on the phone is missing.

Bump!
I am also interested in this. I guess it can be achieved with a linux chroot, but I am looking for a pure android solution. Any ideas are welcome!

[Q] Safely disconnecting with CM10

Hey everyone, I'm currently running the latest stable version of CM10. My phone also has a microSD card inserted in it.
My question is about connecting to the computer via USB port. Normally, with stock, when you connect to a computer you have to allow it to connect and disconnect it before you remove it from the computer. I think it has to do with USB debugging (which I have off)? However, when I use CM10, I get no prompt whatsoever.
Is it safe to just put it in and pull it out (that's what she said)?
If I enable USB debugging will I get this prompt again? Is it even possible to get this prompt again?
I've tried looking all over for an answer, but it's kind of difficult to word in a search. I've been just pulling the plug, and I'd really hate to damage my precious SR!
Thanks, y'all

When you plug the usb in pull down the menu on your phone and it'll give you the option to connect usb. Just Swype down from the top of your screen.

I think CM10 and 10.1 have USB OTG which means you don't have to allow/disallow it anything. Just pull the usb cord and that's it.

Excellent, thanks!
I don't have this device but when you install JB, it use MTP mode as default, which is a Microsoft transfer standard. MTP mode allow you to use the phone storage space (and Sdcard) while transferring at the sametime, for example, if you have apps installed or files on your Sdcard they will still be accessible while plugged in. You can unplug it anytime and there are less chances of files corruption. However MTP also have its limitation such as being retarded.
The other mode is USB MSC (aka UMS aka usb mass storage) which we're familiar with. You could pull the chord with this mode too since its really how USB transferring is designed, but it's better to safe remove first to prevent corruption.
USB debugging is something different which allow ADB access, which I recommend turning off when not in use for security. It should work with both UMS and MTP mode.
USB OTG means on the go, which allow plugging in USB peripherals such as flash drives and is only available for phones that have both the hardware and kernel that support it. Sometimes you also need additional mounting software such as Stick Mount.
Some phones allow you to switch between UMS and MTP mode. Most newer ones running JB only have MTP mode and donot allow UMS mode at all, such as Nexus devices and Galaxy SIII. Also if the device only work with MTP you will not be able to mount USB storage to your PC while in CWM.

Enable USB Host API / DSLR Controller

Hi,
I want to use the DSLR Controller to use my generic Allwin tablet as a camera monitor.
The tablet supports some level of USB OTG as it includes a cable, and thumb drives do work fine on the USB host port, but DSLR controller says my device is incompatible with the USB Host API.
Tablet model number is: "ga10h" and is an Allwin 10.1".
Will there be any way to get the damn thing working? Custom ROMs or firmware I'm open to, as the tablet is disposable.
Thank you

[Q] USB Stick, External Hard Drive Not being detected by TCL Android (4.2) Smart TV

I've been searching for an answer for this issue, so far no luck
TCL 40 inch Android Smart TV(not Rooted)
2 - USB 2.0 ports
1-USB 3.0 ports
1 2.0 usb camera
I have a 500gb WD(NTFS Format) and a usb stick both are being detected and working as it should when I first got the TV.
Suddenly it is not being detected anymore
Although both lights(External and USB) are blinking and if you touch the hard drive you can feel its running
but when I check the media devices connected its just detecting the SD card.
I tried switching usb ports(including the 3.0) but still not being detected
I use the usb camera to all the usb ports and its being detected
Tried another type of otg cable not detected.
I tried just using the usb stick, still not detected
Tried Factory reset on the Android TV but no helo.
and both(WD and usb stick) are being detected in my laptop, using thesame otg cable.
ES FILE Manager sees the devices but when I open it nothing will show up.
Tried stickmount no go as well
I installed USB host controller
and connect all the usb devices and it sees it
when I go to info(usb host controller)
Im getting S3C USB Host driver NOT Found
Root hub present, USB host mode is Active.
Not sure what that is but I tried searching it no where to download it.
I was configuring Kodi TV on the smart tv before the issue happened
so I decided to uninstall it and did factory reset.
Appreciate the inputs.

Computer will not detect tablet!!!

When I plug in my Nvidia Shield K1 into my computer it only charges.....
My old K1 was recognised by my computer immediately before so I don't know why this one won't work?
Please note these things.
1. I have tried a different cable and connector
2. It was purchased second hand and bootloader is already unlocked with TWRP installed.
3. Have installed all necessary drivers on computer
4. Have put tablet into developers mode
5. Have selected MTP on developer options
6. Nothing shows up in device manager
Have you tried with another PC?
Any notification on the Shield, that it has been connected by USB? And if so, select MTP (selecting MTP in Developer's Options doesn't always work on some devices).
You tried other USB ports on the PC? You said you tried another cable and "connector", so maybe by "connector" you mean the USB port on the PC? Also, don't use a hub, connect directly to the USB port on the PC.
If none of this work, and never did on this 2nd hands device, you may have a damaged USB port on the Shield.
Try going to Developer options - Revoke USB debugging authorizations. That has worked for me in the past. I would doing it with the USB disconnected then reconnect.

WiFi Issue

If device's WiFi isn't working then can we use a USB WiFi catcher router via USB OTG cable? Does it work?
If yes then how?
Please help
Infact I attached an external USB WiFi adapter via USB OTG cable to my device Sony Xperia Z5 which internal WiFi isn't working.
But It didn't work perhaps external USB WiFi adapter needs driver to install in my android device and I was unable to find even by Google search...
I don't understand what is this ****ty thing called driver and in this case apple devices are best they don't need any kind of drivers for any device, you plug any device in an apple device and you'll not have to install drivers for it just plug and play and enjoy.
Now this windows and Android are annoying in this case.....
