IT seems that pushing SU is successful while pushing ROOTEXPLORER.APK files with system read only. Then I try to go to shell and list the size of SU, it is 0 byte. Then I try to push it again, it says system is read only.
Anyone please help me, is this because of my phone problems or is it because of the firmware?
can anyone know why system is read only?
any linux expert can help me?

thanks for confirming, i thought i am the only one having this problem. do you have any clue why this happen to us? is it because of the ICS?
I'm still looking in other threads for information about this specific error.
I read about changing the bootloader, changing the kernel... but I think the main problem is,
that our device is too new, only few people owns a ZP500. THe only way for us is to wait.... :-(
You can try this rom: http://115.com/file/e7jae9ni
it has su preinstalled, but you will get the same problem with Read-only file system.

yeah i tried, that ROM failed in rooting, can't mount RW and copy file.
yeah our phone is too new, I am actually trying various method found on web but all fail. Btw do you know how to put clockworkmod in this device?
when I try to root my ZP500 (Firmware 0702) with different methods (MTK Tools, unlockroot, etc), it still stay half-rooted(
I can not change /system RO permission.
"mount" shows next info about /system :
[email protected] /system ext4 ro,noatime,user_xattr,commit=1,barrier=1,data=ordered,
noauto_da_alloc 0 0
Click to collapse
Then I flash rooted Vietnam firmware (based on 0702), root is full now. I can freely change /system permission...
But "mount" shows some different info about /system folder:
[email protected] /system ext4 rw,realtime,user_xattr,commit=1,barrier=1,data=ordered,
noauto_da_alloc 0 0

Maybe someone clever finds this info useful and help us to made full root access on stock 0702 firmware?
delete chinese, install google apps
I got a ZP500 rooted.
The problem is that it is full of chinese apps (keyboard, 360 mobile safe and many others)
Also I cannot install some google apps (browser, maps)
Do you know a way to uninstall the chinese apps and install google apps?
Sorry to post this at this topic, but I cannot create new topic yet

I was wondering if this would work on the offshoots of the GS2? I have an Epic 4g Touch.
Bin4ry. Sir, I need your help please. I tried to root my phone, a local brand, running on ICS 4.0.4 and every time I try to root it using your program, it keeps telling me "mount: permission denied (are you root?)".. What does this mean? How can I fix this so that I can successfully root my phone? thanks! I tried several times and used different computers but it just keeps giving me the same error message.
I really need help coz' I want to root my phone and install Link2sd so that I can no longer have low internal memory problems.
Cheers!
Problem with MTK6577 phone
I am having the same problem with my S3 clone.. Ordered the phone from Amazon and it does not have any manufacturer name. It was advertised as Phecda i9300.. It runs with mtk6577 processor..
The problem is exactly the same.. I get the option to Restore data and then phone reboots.. After that the mount permission denied error appears.. There is no change on the phone.. Confirmed that root is not there in the phone through Root Checker app.. Any help?

Which phone do you have? This tool is only for the One XL (evita). Are you using a PC, Mac, or Linux?
Sometimes these things don't take the first time. Have you tried it again, perhaps after rebooting your phone?

try each step listed in bat file one by one and find at what step exactly you are getting error. I think it is at adb shell "/data/local/tmp/pwn"
also do adb shell "ls -lrt /data/local/tmp/pwn" to see if that file exists and check permissions of 775

[GUIDE] [TOOL] Rooting the "First ICS 4.0.4 Full 3D ROM Ported From SU760"

UPDATE: This didn't work for me on the official ICS ROM. YMMV.
I did try this guide:
[GUIDE] [SU760] How to ROOT V29C/D ICS
but it didn't work for me...
So I tried the script posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31963526&postcount=532
and it worked really well!
Steps
--------------
* Get version 1.2 of adb_restore_rooting if you can't unpack v1.6 with your current unzipper
* Unpack the archive
* Turn on USB debugging on your phone (Developer options)
* Execute rooting.bat
* Follow the instructions on screen
* When it says "Done!", press return on your PC and it should complete the process.
Note: For those who really want to use v1.6, install 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.com/). Thanks MoYo!
thanx bro.
Cheers mate first method failed for me also this worked a treat wkpark strikes again
Just to be correct, before to call a method "failed" maybe should be more important to know pre-requisites and why for some people may look to fail.
Anyway yes it's more easy with an automatic script

Indeed. I got the exact same message over and over.
I think the script from wkpark does a better job cleaning things up before trying to root it again.
This method is easier well done.
Help please
For a simpleton such as myself can someone please give me a step by step on how to make this work?
It seems I need Linux to run a SH file? Alot to ask but can someone let me know how to do this on windows7 please

I've updated the instructions, the sh file was a mistake
Worked like a charm, thank you!
Worked perfect, thanks.
For those who have problems with the v1.6 of the archive -> Try 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.com/)
It's packed with 7-zip and you can extract it with it

I did get this once. I set the USB setting to LG software and let it settle. No idea if this is a requirement.

Same here, tried it the second time now with 1.2. After hitting the restore button on the device, the console on pc said that rooting failed.
Then after trying to restart it gets stuck after the LG logo at a black screen.
Edit: Last try with 1.6 now.
Edit 2: Nah, still don't work. The error-log says this: "remote object '/data/local.prop' does not exist"

I am very desperate! Will donate as well! Rooting issue with Asus TF700T

Hi amigos on the internet!
I recently purchased an Asus TF700T about a week ago and still I'm having trouble rooting it.
Tried basically every method I could. I desperately seek help!
My device is unlocked though SU say's there is no binary installed.
I don't have fastboot on my device it only shows three images which is the RCK logo ANDROID logo and WIPE DATA logo.
There is not USB logo.
I have JB 4.2.1
Build number :
JOP40D
If you need anymore information I would be glad to provide! Please and thank you for taking the time! I just want to root and have TWRP on it
Unfortunately I do not know how to get TWRP
When trying to root it with DeBugfs I get this
Waiting for device to be detected…
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
Found system partition at: /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
Step 1 – Pushing files…
failed to copy ‘debugfs’ to ‘/data/local//debugfs’: Permission denied
failed to copy ‘su’ to ‘/data/local//su’: Permission denied
failed to copy ‘debugfsinput’ to ‘/data/local//debugfsinput’: Permission denied
failed on ‘/data/local/tmp’ – Permission denied
link failed File exists
Rebooting…
Once your devices has finished restarting,
Press any key to continue . . .
Step 2 – Rooting…
For this step, ignore any error messages that say “File not found”
Unable to chmod /data/local/debugfs: No such file or directory
/system/bin/sh: can’t open /data/local/debugfsinput: No such file or directory
rm failed for /data/local/tmp, Permission denied
failed on ‘/data/local/tmp.bak’ – No such file or directory
rm failed for /data/local/su, No such file or directory
rm failed for /data/local/debugfs, No such file or directory
rm failed for /data/local/debugfsinput, No such file or directory
Rebooting…
Once your devices has finished restarting,
Press any key to continue . . .
Finally the following appears:
Rooting FAILED! You may want to try running this tool again.
Your device region may not be supported if you see this message again.
Press any key to continue . . .
Your help will be greatly appreciated it! I will also donate through pay-pal since I'm very desperate, haha. Thanks again!
You need to run the tool as administrator
Also, have you used the unlock file from Asus. You must be unlocked, bootloader unlocked, for this to work.

What is your firmware version? If you are on anything later than 10.6.1.14.8, then you have to downgrade in order to root... You are already unlock and why don't install custom recovery and custom rom...
You don't have to donate to me because I am here trying to help out new user....

Apparently you didn't read the text in the upper left corner - recent bootloaders activate fastboot already in the bootloader menu.
So you can use fastboot to install TWRP (read the guide on the teamw.in website or here on xda), then TWRP will offer you to install a root app.
And ignore the "you have to downgrade to root" advice - that's only relevant if you don't want to or can't unlock.
Hey guys thanks for replying to this post! Luckily I was able to get full step by step help by a member on XDA he was super helpful! Got my tablet rooted and rommed Thanks for looking at my post! Much obliged
