Which phone do you have? This tool is only for the One XL (evita). Are you using a PC, Mac, or Linux?
Sometimes these things don't take the first time. Have you tried it again, perhaps after rebooting your phone?

try each step listed in bat file one by one and find at what step exactly you are getting error. I think it is at adb shell "/data/local/tmp/pwn"
also do adb shell "ls -lrt /data/local/tmp/pwn" to see if that file exists and check permissions of 775

Anyone know/ sense if the new GS2 LTE Skyrocket phone (with 2.3.5) will be more difficult to root than the i777 GS2?

No. It will be more difficult to reset the binary counter if you trip it. But it won't be any harder to root just because of 2.3.5.
Now if they do something more to try and lock down the phone, that might make it harder to root.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
Just like the TSGS2, none of the ISGS2 or ASGS2 ROMs will work on it. Maybe the TSGS2 ROMs will work because they're essentially the same phone. AT&T's said that their LTE phones will have a single combination radio which means no existing radios will work either.
It will be more difficult (but not too much more) difficult to root.
1) Almost surely it is going to be less likely to attract competent developers. Look at the T989 as an example.
2) Download mode uses a somewhat different protocol, so you need the absolute latest Odin, and Heimdall will not work.

no! i wouldnt try it unless you can afford a brick.
just wait for someone with more experience to root it.
Actually the TSGS2 is getting some quick development. They just got a kernel now with BLN, with new Governor, and OC to 1.8ghz. Its moving along over there quite nicely
All this can be had on the Skyrocket since they share the same CPU platform.
I would try the zergRush root....if it doesnt work it doesnt work. It will be helpful to the community to let them know.

Will the .bat open? Are you n windows 7 64bit? (I am just curious) Make sure you turn on Unknown Sources and USB debugging. DO NOT connect your phone as a USB device. Hit spacebar after you load up the .bat. Make sure your not running the unroot file. Make sure you unzip the file too!
trying to get hulu working but cant seem to get root explorer to let me change the r/w options on system files.
but it gave me the allow root option. i used titanium to restore my apps so i know the root worked.
and to the guy above if follow the instruction to a tee, which there were not many.....it WILL work. when run the .bat even without the phone plugged it you should still get the black command prompt with the instructions.

I dont have hulu anymore but I used titanium backup as well so I know it worked. Set up some profiles on setcpu as well. Waiting on a kernel. Will the kernel for the GS2 for tmobile work for this?
UPDATE: This didn't work for me on the official ICS ROM. YMMV.
I did try this guide:
[GUIDE] [SU760] How to ROOT V29C/D ICS
but it didn't work for me...
So I tried the script posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31963526&postcount=532
and it worked really well!
Steps
--------------
* Get version 1.2 of adb_restore_rooting if you can't unpack v1.6 with your current unzipper
* Unpack the archive
* Turn on USB debugging on your phone (Developer options)
* Execute rooting.bat
* Follow the instructions on screen
* When it says "Done!", press return on your PC and it should complete the process.
Note: For those who really want to use v1.6, install 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.com/). Thanks MoYo!
thanx bro.
Cheers mate first method failed for me also this worked a treat wkpark strikes again
Just to be correct, before to call a method "failed" maybe should be more important to know pre-requisites and why for some people may look to fail.
Anyway yes it's more easy with an automatic script

Indeed. I got the exact same message over and over.
I think the script from wkpark does a better job cleaning things up before trying to root it again.
This method is easier well done.
Help please

It seems I need Linux to run a SH file? Alot to ask but can someone let me know how to do this on windows7 please

I did get this once. I set the USB setting to LG software and let it settle. No idea if this is a requirement.

Same here, tried it the second time now with 1.2. After hitting the restore button on the device, the console on pc said that rooting failed.
Then after trying to restart it gets stuck after the LG logo at a black screen.
Edit: Last try with 1.6 now.
Edit 2: Nah, still don't work. The error-log says this: "remote object '/data/local.prop' does not exist"

Had the same problem... i used lg mode in usb settings. then installed the autorun and wait for some while, even if it is already installed. Reboot computer, and your ready to go
good luck :good:
I just tried rooting my phone and it keeps saying unable to copy the file on everything and it`´s not permitted.... I tried rooting with some old guides I found because I was checking my phone and I´m still on android version 4.03 and builder number 1.85...it would just not do anything not It´s not letting me install any kind of apps in the app store, but everything else is working. So i tried the 2.02 version and it doesn´t give me the 11111111 code at the end. Is there something wrong with the phone or could it be the drivers? All the guides I found gave the drivers that installed them on their own.
Also could it be that I´m in mexico and the phone was sent from the us? its the at&t one. I´m so lost now that I had the guts to root it. -.-

You will have to use the 1.85 method which is best. To use the 2.20 method you would need to download the 2.20 update. But best to use the 1.85 method I think. I'll see about fetching a link.
Here ya go. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709296
I do not suggest rooting/unlocking bootloader If it seems too difficult.

I don¨t understand the su and adb thing it asks me... I saw in a post that there is still a one click rooter, which is what I was using and I get the error of

I get a longer message, but it goes too fast and closes the cmnd window....I will be trying the going to the future for 2 days lol see if that does anything

The 2.20 root will work on any of them...it exploits the same thing ...

The 1.85 one-click method no longer works (hasn't for a long time). The one linked by exad above is the only working method that is specific to 1.85.
But as stated by kittens above, the X-factor exploit not only works on 2.20, but should also work on previous firmwares. Try either the toolkit, or the "manual" X-factor method.
If you don't understand what SU and adb are, you probably shouldn't mess around with any of these things. Do a lot more research and learning, before you get rooting.
Ah I wasn't sure that the X Factor method works on 1.85. Whenever I suggest it people reply that it says explicitly that it doesn't work on 1.85. Though, when I read it, I did not notice that. In any case, *shrug* there ya go op. Good luck! Read lots.

Aye I just tried it with a one click installed and got a Supersu app...when I try opening it, it says that "there is no su binary installed, and the super su cannot install it. This is a problem"???

I think that message it gave you was kinda clear there is no Su files or binary installed to give you root access..
I see...so do I have to do it again? I don't get the su going in adb...I tried posting there, but it doesn't let me post >.<

Idk the steps for unlocking a phone under 1.85, but I'm sure you will need to know how to set up and use adb. Take your time. Don't rush
