Flashing help for miro - Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo (Dual), J, E

Hey guyz...
I m a noob to android...so i wanted to ask a small question...
My xperia miro is entirely new
Somehow i managed to root it
But my question is.. I want to flash glimo rom on my miro... So where to start?
I m soo damn confused!
Thx if i can get any help...

1. Install cwm recovery.
2. Download gimlo stock and gimlo rom zip files from the gimlo thread.
3. Boot to cwm-- turn off ur phone. Press power button. Repeatedly press vol - when u see sony logo. You're in cwm now.
3. Flash the zips according to as told in the gimlo installing thread.

Download androxyde flashtool
Install it
Go to install location
Open drivers folder install fastboot and flashmode drivers ONLY. That should fix your problem
But if u have the unlock key from Sony
U can directly use the BL option in androxyde flashtool to unlock your bootloader( it worked for my E dual without bootloops.Sony's method caused bootloop) check my thread for more info

[Root] [CWM] Xperia J

Root and CWM for Xperia J Finally!
Thanks to srl3gx and Bin4ry for their awsome work!
and ME for taking risk!
Make sure u are in 11.0.A.3.28 or 11.0.A.3.18 firmware ALONE with Locked Bootloader..
This method Dosent Work on 11.0.A.7.5 Firmware! (working on it! )
for .28 firmware download from here and flash it
if u dont have a flash tool download it from here for windows and install drivers located in C:\Flashtool\drivers (choose all drivers)
since flash tool does not have xperia j drivers..u may hav flashing problem...for that
1.download and extract d ST26.zip ive uploaded
2.open flash tool
3.click devices>import
4.navigate to d file u've extracted
5.now xperia j driver is installed
u can now flash without problems
Now back to rooting...
Root first! thn apply CWM!
Steps for Rooting:
1.extract Root_J.zip
2.make sure 'usb debugging' is enabled in devolpment settings
3.double click Runme.bat file for windows users...runme.sh for linux users
4.wait for process to finish (mostly should work)
Steps for CWM:
1.extract CWM_J.zip
2.'usb debugging' on
3.double click 'install.bat' only for windows (linux not working! my bad..)
4.wait for it.....installed! close the shell program and switch off the phone..
Plug in charger or USB....the phone switches on....press up and down volume keys repeatedly when SONY logo flashes.....voila u get into CWM!
You need plugged in charger or USB to goto CWM! Else CWM wont Work!!
reboot to system and see if supersu is installed finish! ur phone is rooted and cwm is installed !!
CWM has little bugs ..but its a never mind stuff..
use arrow keys to navigate..power button to select and 'go back' option in cwm itself to go to previous options.
Comment if it worked for you...let others know!
Tested on my xperia J and Miro
Dont restore factory setting or else CWM will vanish...n u hav to reflash whole firmware again
for questions and problems ask srl3gx
HOPE I HELPED...hit thanks
Sorry for the last update! It Dindn't Work for many devices!
wow finally it arrived.
Anyone tried this already?

Followed your instructions on my Experia J. I have build 11.0.A.3.18 (UK on orange/EE). I decided against flashing to 3.28 and to try with 3.18, but to get the Flashtool working I did the following:
Once the ST26.zip file is extracted (using Winrar) I then have to open this extracted file again in WinRar to get the files that should live at C:\Flashtool\devices\ST26 (loader.sin etc.). I then had to copy the original file ST26.ftd to c:\Flashtool\devices. I enabled USB debugging in the Developer settings on the phone and Flashtool started working properly.
I was able to root and CWM the device as per your instructions on buiild 11.0.A.3.18. Cheers.
The major problem with this CWM method is that it's designed for the Tipo, so when you try to flash a zip made for jlo, it fails. I had to remove the assert from the top of the scrip to flash with this.
Thanks for trying on .18 firmware... I'll update d thread

Have you tried flashing a compiled ROM? It fails as the CWM thinks it's on a Tipo device.
Plus if you wipe your system partition, you lose CWM, it's not a good solution. I've posted a CWM as a boot.img in my CM10 thread

OK, plus this will work for people who cannot unlock their bootloader. But perhaps you should put a warning as some people may want to wipe their system partition before they restore a backup (which will work) but if they for what ever reason try to reboot the phone they will be lost and will have to restore via flashtool!
thanks for report...updatd
very good work thx!

I've updated my xperia j to firmware 11.0.A.7.5 and now i can't root it with this method...
Any help?
Yea im the same 11.0.A.7.5 cant you flash the phone with older firmware?
Okay i flashed that firmware from first page and now my phone is rooted thanks alot
If we can get ftf file of 11.0.A.7.5 firmware and flash it with Flashtool without wiping data (just wiping cache) maybe we don't loose root... but where can we found that ftf file???

First get the Flashtool Here : http://androxyde.github.com/
Then Get the FTF package here : http://depositfiles.com/files/zlh1aa1eg
Install the Flashtool. Then go to the directory where you installed the Flashtool find Drivers folder & install the drivers. (C: > Program Files > Flashtool > Drivers)
Then extract the FTF file from .zip file using winrar. Put the extracted .FTF file in Firmwares folder. (C: > Program Files > Flashtool > Firmwares)
Open Flashtool. Click flash icon select flashmode. Select firmware : .587 ICS. Then follow the instructions on the screen. As simple as that.
P.S. After the flashing process is completed, the phone DOESN'T START ON ITS OWN. Disconnect the cable and YOU start the phone regularly. It takes time to start the phone so be patient. And don't panic. Its gonna be okay.
Dont forget to hit Thanks Button!!
I did it wid another method
I found dat it was my mistake
D kernel was not flashed for aokp build 3
It needs a job kernel and I just extracted d rom
From deer flashed it in fastboot mode and den all was done. .....
thanks for our advice
I really appreciate it:thumbup:

Maybe you should download sony PC companion from here http://www.devfiles.co/download/9UANJ1k9/Sony_PC_Companion_Web.exe . I will try this option now. My Neo V MT11i is stuck in bootloop now.. I also tried to run flashtool drivers .exe for Neo, fastboot and flashmode, but still did not work. Flashtool still says I need drivers. Hoping for the best. God bless.
Update: thanks to @neerajrk37 for giving the instructions about flashing the right kernel. Now I have escaped bootloop without using PC companion.

You mean after reboot, you can see sony screen and got black screen after. If using flashtool, get any .ftf that you like, install the drivers first, then flash it. Remember, only connect the phone when flashtool ask you to. If youre still on locked bootloader, pc companion - repair would be easier.

[Q] downgrade xperia j from jb to ics?

Hello Guys.
my sister has got a xperia j. I updated it to jelly bean.
But now i see that rooting isnt possible without bootloader unlock.
So the question i would like to ask is:
it possible to downgrade the xperia j via flashtool to ics or will it brick?
Second thing. I would like to install cwm on it (there is a version for locked bootloaders) and flash paranoid rom.
Do i have to unlock the bootloader after this or can i just flash the rom with locked bootloader?
Thanks in advance
Odun96
i never brick my phone through flashing ftf and kernels....so go to general section and find stock.ftf rom for your j....then download flashtool (google it), connect your phone to flashmode (i think it is vol - and connent to your pc), select stock.ftf file to flash and flash it....after that if all will be ok your phone will boot after 10-15 minutes so be patient... if you have errors during flashing just post the image flashtool or the logcat... paranoid rom is for unlocked bootloaders because has a custom kernel...if you want a rom, go to install gimlo, paradox, ultrabeast etc...

If your sister is using it then I would suggest flashing the jb firmware. Coz its sorta best when compared to older stock ROMs...
If u wanna use it for your own benefit then unlock the boot loader, download the xperia j(Jlo) CM 10 FXP from freexperia project site...
Download gapps.zip for CM10
copy both the files to sdcard
then flash CM 10 kernel and then power on repeatedly press volume buttons you will enter into CWM in that select install zip from sdcard flash the CM 10 FXP.zip file
Flash gapps.zip
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvic cache
reboot
Phew !

Did you have any backups? If yes then you can restore "system" from recovery mode.
If you did not have recovery then download ftf for Miro, and flash it via flashtool.
Forget about emma!
All the best.
