[Root] [CWM] Xperia J

Root and CWM for Xperia J Finally!
Thanks to srl3gx and Bin4ry for their awsome work!
and ME for taking risk!
Make sure u are in 11.0.A.3.28 or 11.0.A.3.18 firmware ALONE with Locked Bootloader..
This method Dosent Work on 11.0.A.7.5 Firmware! (working on it! )
for .28 firmware download from here and flash it
if u dont have a flash tool download it from here for windows and install drivers located in C:\Flashtool\drivers (choose all drivers)
since flash tool does not have xperia j drivers..u may hav flashing problem...for that
1.download and extract d ST26.zip ive uploaded
2.open flash tool
3.click devices>import
4.navigate to d file u've extracted
5.now xperia j driver is installed
u can now flash without problems
Now back to rooting...
Root first! thn apply CWM!
Steps for Rooting:
1.extract Root_J.zip
2.make sure 'usb debugging' is enabled in devolpment settings
3.double click Runme.bat file for windows users...runme.sh for linux users
4.wait for process to finish (mostly should work)
Steps for CWM:
1.extract CWM_J.zip
2.'usb debugging' on
3.double click 'install.bat' only for windows (linux not working! my bad..)
4.wait for it.....installed! close the shell program and switch off the phone..
Plug in charger or USB....the phone switches on....press up and down volume keys repeatedly when SONY logo flashes.....voila u get into CWM!
You need plugged in charger or USB to goto CWM! Else CWM wont Work!!
reboot to system and see if supersu is installed finish! ur phone is rooted and cwm is installed !!
CWM has little bugs ..but its a never mind stuff..
use arrow keys to navigate..power button to select and 'go back' option in cwm itself to go to previous options.
Comment if it worked for you...let others know!
Tested on my xperia J and Miro
Dont restore factory setting or else CWM will vanish...n u hav to reflash whole firmware again

Followed your instructions on my Experia J. I have build 11.0.A.3.18 (UK on orange/EE). I decided against flashing to 3.28 and to try with 3.18, but to get the Flashtool working I did the following:
Once the ST26.zip file is extracted (using Winrar) I then have to open this extracted file again in WinRar to get the files that should live at C:\Flashtool\devices\ST26 (loader.sin etc.). I then had to copy the original file ST26.ftd to c:\Flashtool\devices. I enabled USB debugging in the Developer settings on the phone and Flashtool started working properly.
I was able to root and CWM the device as per your instructions on buiild 11.0.A.3.18. Cheers.

The major problem with this CWM method is that it's designed for the Tipo, so when you try to flash a zip made for jlo, it fails. I had to remove the assert from the top of the scrip to flash with this.

Dude dunno y u have problems with CWM...btr to flash according to my instructions... It works for many

Have you tried flashing a compiled ROM? It fails as the CWM thinks it's on a Tipo device.
Plus if you wipe your system partition, you lose CWM, it's not a good solution. I've posted a CWM as a boot.img in my CM10 thread

Oh..ok.. But this post is for original firmware rooting n CWM... Won't work for custom roms

OK, plus this will work for people who cannot unlock their bootloader. But perhaps you should put a warning as some people may want to wipe their system partition before they restore a backup (which will work) but if they for what ever reason try to reboot the phone they will be lost and will have to restore via flashtool!

I've updated my xperia j to firmware 11.0.A.7.5 and now i can't root it with this method...

Okay i flashed that firmware from first page and now my phone is rooted thanks alot

If we can get ftf file of 11.0.A.7.5 firmware and flash it with Flashtool without wiping data (just wiping cache) maybe we don't loose root... but where can we found that ftf file???

X-Parts problem

It's not working when I boot my phone,pressing Vol button down or up,NOTHING!
When reboot with app,then works like charm.
Why can I not boot to CWM manualy?

Well,that's how x parts works!
If you unlock bl,you won't need this.... You can install a custom kernel which has cwm pre installed and you can access manually

ive rooted my phone and installed ClockWorkMod Recovery and unlocked my bootloader i really want CyanogenMod on my phone can i just download and flash now ?
looked on a few threads and its confusing me

heres how i installed it on my tipo
unlock the bootloader
flash boot.img via fastboot(aka installed cwm)
flash the cm10 zip after wiping data,cache etc
done!!!
so in a way you are ready to flash it

have any idea where i can get CM9? CM10 doesn't really work well

There's no CM9 for Tipo/Miro/J and there will probably never be so.
CM10 is still in development phase.

damn iv'e installed cm10 but the keyboard doesn't work keeps force closing

What phone are you using ?..I have been using cm10 for a while now without any problems!

Wiping app data from Applications menu also helps, if you have problems after updating.
As a rule of thumb - if anything Force Closes, wipe it's data, if it persists, wipe all the data using CWM.

also my battery is 1 % and i dont know how to charge it (i just saw that) maybe my phone is rebooting cuz i dont have battery but it is inpossible to charge it cuz i dont have any rom installed

ok listen...can you flash stock.ftf rom to your tipo? just download flashtool (google it) and find stock.ftf from general section...one other way is to flash vergeance kernel with flashtool, enter cwm and flash a rom from android development (or cm10 from original android development) if you dont understand something tell me....
P.S. after you flashed stock rom or vergeance kernel turn on your phone and put charger to see if it charging

wtf this is the error i see when i try to flash the ftf file

it seems that you have wrong header.sin or you didn't enter the flashmode properly. make sure you get notice 'the device is plugged with flashmode' or something like that when you plug in the usb to your pc. to fix the header.sin issue you'll need the correct one. you can find it on the same thread where you got your tft.

i think that ico98 dont know how to fix header.sin and its better to flash a kernel from fastboot...its more easy...do you agree?

I'm not sure about that. he didn't give any specific info about how messed up his system is. if he install any stock ICS based rom (without any custom kernel) his problem mostly could be fixed by reflashing the rom and wipe the data. flashing a kernel won't fix this issue. aside from that scenario, there are several more scenario i.e:
1 he could have install a JB based rom then he install a ICS rom, completely dead. need to flash complete tft or reflash JB rom and wipe data.
2 ICS rom with custom ICS kernel. can be fixed by flash a stock kernel
3 etc etc...there are a lot of scenario
my main point is that flashing a kernel doesn't always fix anything. in most cases, I only suggest that step for more advanced user. without enough data about the system condition flashing a complete tft will be a general and always working method.
anyway, before we do any 'flash' thing, IMO wipe data might be a good choice. most new member forget about that important step and ended up with a bricked device.

ok then...i said to flash kernel and to choose a custom rom (gimlo, paradox etc) but if ico98 download again ftf file will he have this problem again? (header.sin)
P.S. sometimes i forgot to wipe system and data when i am to cm10 and i want to go back to ics and the only problem i have is some apps to force close....no brick only fc
P.S.2 i installed kernels from xperia mini pro and insecure kernel E dual and my phone didnt brick, just not boot...maybe my phone has immunity at brick ahahahahahahaha

well...it doesn't means that your system is immune. you're just lucky enough to never experienced a hardbrick.

Finally got it back to stock omg even my root is gone whatever I just reconected and the error was gone then flashed ftf file and rebooted sooo guys ty and have a nice holiday and also is my boat loader unlocked ? Becouse my the phone was unrooted after the reset...

[Q] Xperia Tipo Dual - Wont start after flash

I tried to flash my Tipo Dual with KangXperiaProject and after i flash it with clockwork its not starting.
When i plug the usb and press vol- the led turns to green and flashtool reads it in Flashmode (the same thing with vol+) but flashing with Flashtool stops at "Reading device information"
I relock the bootloader, i tried SEUS (No software for your phone) and PCC (No software available for your phone/tablet)
Any idea how to wake up my Xperia ?

you can first install the vengeance kernel..it has cwm inside it. once you're done flashing this kernel, you can flash stock based roms like Gimlo 2.0
all the best.

And then flash any Rom..
No software available means that,the bootloader is still unlocked..

i tried to install pac man rom on xperia tipo .i downloaded pac rom, gapps,storage fix.zip files and tried flashing rom in cwm recovery .i installed pac rom from zip and gapps also and tried to reboot. but i cant. it just vibrates and the phone doesnt switch on. tried to get into recovery mode .but cant get in .it still vibrates by showing led as green.plz help me to fix my phone
