Where to source EB40 Battery in Canada - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I broken my digitizer on my Razr V (XT885) and I was opening it up to replace it, when I accidentally teared my battery cable . Now I'm stuck and needs to get a new battery. While changing it, I thought that I could upgrade to EB40 batteries. But being in Canada, and Ebay listing now showing only 2 sellers, I was wondering if could any of you point me out an online store that has EB40 battery and ships to Canada.
Thanks!

I don't know that the 40 will fit in that version.

How much more thick is the 40?

Its not the thickness. Its the plug. Have a picture of your internals and stock battery?

The stock battery is an EB20, the same as used by original Razr, with a lower left connector with two screw. Don't worry I did my homework before asking here. The only unknown I still have is the thickness. The only difference I've spotted compared other Razr's and the Attrix is that the battery is glued to the back cover and requires no frame.

Pretty much which is the best battery without having to change the back cover, and nfc or not.

That's the title on Amazon it's like $30 off right now, I was wondering if anyone had any experience using this battery set. Does it work just as well? I'm thinking about getting it.

I've got one of the Hyperion batteries. They sell them as a standalone product without the charger. The battery is about what you would expect for the $10 cost. As I expected, it doesn't last quite as long as the included battery, but it makes a good backup battery for when you need a little extra juice. The amazon reviews say that the charger is low quality, so i bought the RND dock off amazon to go with it. I'm new here so I can't post the link yet, sorry.
Thanks that's really helpful. If I may ask what kind of case or screen protector do you like?

I just ordered a set of these on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Extended-Battery-Samsung-Galaxy-Skyrocket/dp/B006WO0YMM/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1333114979&sr=8-5
According to reviews they get about 3 hours more...they're rated at 2250 mAh. Should be getting them Wednesday so I'll update when they arrive.
I always recommend getting 2 batteries and an external battery charger. I am never without a battery and just have to remember to pop a dead battery in the charger when I get home from work.
Honestly... The best battery for the skyrocket are the factory ones. Not bulging back and the mah is accurate. They are pricey @$35 a pop, but they are the best we can get.

I've got the otterbox commuter series. It's a nice case for what I need it for. Only thing is I have to take it off to use the dock or change batteries. Also best buy included an invisible shield protector on my phone (some BS policy they have). I never would have bought it on my own but it's a decent screen protector if you can get it installed right.

I was looking at either the commuter or, there is a seido active armor case. I got a decent .20 cent case to hold me over till I buy a pricey one.
I've heard problems regarding otterbox cases and the screen protector regarding dirt to be able to get under the protector. And the screen being scuffed if you ever cleaned it. Have you noticed anything like that?

Two batteries from Samsung? Do they sell a two pack with a charger? The reason l looked at the Hyperion was because of its charger. (Digging through the reveiws about charger problems people appear to be breaking off pins)
I like the idea of Samsung batteries since they would have nfc.

I have the commuter series case. It doesn't include a screen protector. But from the reviews I've seen of the defender, the speaker and camera holes are unprotected which allows dirt to get under it.

Well, I received these batteries several days early...was scheduled for this coming Wednesday and instead they arrived this past Saturday. Fully charged a battery, and today is my first day using them, but I can say that the percentage is certainly not dropping as quickly as the stock battery. It's actually noticeable.
The battery fits well without a replacement cover, but of course doesn't include NFC capability...
I'm getting an extra 2-3 hours off of those batteries. Definitely worth $30 for 2 batteries and an external charger...

The Hyperions suck a$$... I like many others on amazon have been left with chargers that do not work out of the box, not to mention the batteries themselves, from personal experience don't last nearly as long as the OEMs.

How about the international version of htc one x?
I hope to god it utilizes the charging pins otherwise there is probably going to be a big bulge on the side of it
I definitely noticed that horrible bulge lol...is that for the wires and charging components? You'd think they would hide those inside the case...??? Some don't have that bulge. Do they take advantage of the docking pins?

Well on phones with the charging port on the side, out needs space for the contact.
There is also a bulge on the ones where the pet it's on the bottom but you don't notice it because they make it look like an extension of the phone.
Joined just to follow this, hopefully it comes sooner than the end of June, I want this!
Hopefully it looks better than the iPhone version.

The reason people don't like it is because it sucks for an "extended" battery. You can get another one almost 1000mAh bigger for the same physical size.

Samsung extended is like 2600 so hyperion is like 1000 bigger. Just search this forum for it.

Has anyone had any luck finding decent cases (even TPU) for the OEM extended cover? Amazon's got some kinda-crappy silicon cases for the Trexcell extended battery, but I'm not really a fan.
I have both the OEM extended battery and the Hyperion's. The Hyperion is 3500mAh and the OEM is 2600mAh, however the Hyperion is slightly thinner by a hair, and it runs cooler and has a much longer battery life. You won't have any problem fitting the Hyperion under the OEM extended battery case which is made of a better quality plastic than the Hyperion's that comes with the battery.

Hyperion Experience
I just ordered the Hyperion through Amazon and the case for it as well. I'm amazed! Took this phone from one that I can barely make it through 12 hours with minimal use and having GPS, data and wifi off except when I MUST have it (i.e. at lunch) to a totally new level where I have all services running throughout the day and extensive use without a charge for 12+ hours. Should have expected it - the battery has the same capacity as the Razr MAXX.
In reference to the case... Meh... I had the silicone one that I bought through Verizon on day one of owning this phone and it was a nice one. Felt good in the hand, lasted nearly 2 years (still works but not on the extended cover) and protected the phone from my occasional oafish drop. The one I have from Hyperion feels cheap (I guess because it is...), but does its job - I've dropped it a couple of times and had no issues. Only real issues I do have is 1) this case covers the hardware buttons on the bottom. With EP1, EP4 and FP1, this wasn't an issue as the backlighting worked randomly at best. With the FP5 update, I've found that the backlighting appears to function properly and the new cover precludes that. 2) the charging port's cutout was too small for the charger. Initially, I just pulled the cover down and charged it that way but who wants that? UGLY! So... That's what a razor blade is made for... I cut the hole bigger (carefully!) and have had no issue since.
I believe that will be my solution for the covering the hardware buttons backlighting as well...

I know they are both identical phones inside but they are completely different on the outside. I believe the back cover only covers a portion of the back on the regular HD where it completely covers the back on the MAXX HD. The camera portion will have to be completely remounted in order to be able to use the MAXX HD back cover. The Amoled screen on the MAXX HD has a border around it where the regular HD does not.
I'm going off of memory of when I bought the the phone and I was checking them both out. Assuming I am remembering correctly, it would make sense for Moto to not make it easy to achieve what you are looking for. They want you to spend the extra $$$.

uh, you are thinking of the razr, not razr hd. Only difference between razr hd and razr maxx hd is 2mm extra thickness on the latter, which means a different rear cover, to account for the larger battery. That, and increased storage.
Difference view-able here: http://www.theverge.com/2012/10/22/3535122/motorola-droid-razr-hd-razr-maxx-hd-review-images#3885063

Awe bummer, not too far though. I live 3 blocks south of Windansea. My Razr HD should be here on monday or tues first mod I plan on doing is swapping a VZW MAXX HD Backplate & Battery into it.
Really wish I could find a Teardown or Fix-it manual ANyone??
I tore down my Razr Maxx HD the other day to add a metal disc between the back cover and battery for my magnetic car mount. It is pretty easy to take apart and put back together as long as you figure out the trick to the speaker wire connection.
Remove bottom 2 screws and press screen upwards. The screen will seperate like the old battery cover of the original Droid. Disconnect the 2 ribbon cables that connect from the screen to the main board by pulling straight back on the ribbon cables. Remove all the screws on the main board that attach it to the back cover. Remove the battery connection cable by pulling up on connector. Remove one other ribbon cable connection on upper right side of board by pulling straight back. At the upper left of the board is black plastic with clear plastic in the middle. Underneath the clear plastic is the speaker connection. Use an exacto knife to remove the adhesive clear plastic. The speaker connection pulls straight up. Now the board will come out. Tada. Reassembly is the reverse. Be careful of the audio line out plastic bezel which will fall out when you remove the board. It is easy to lose or forget to put back in on reassembly.

Darn so you basically have to take everything apart just to switch out the back kevlar piece? Was hoping I could just unscrew the 2 bottom screws and back would pop off like a iphone but maybe with a little adhesive tape to pry.
Makes sense, it is said to have an irremovable back cover. I guess that's because all the phone hardware is attached TO the back cover. Basically it means a full teardown and rebuild to upgrade a razrhd to maxx if the rear casing and battery become available in the future.
Yes, everything attaches to the back cover. I was thinking the back cover would be the removable piece too. I found out how it was put together by accident. I took out the bottom screws and kept messing with the back cover thinking it snapped over. Then I noticed the screen moved up causing a slight gap at the seam at the top of the phone. After figuring that out, the rest was pretty simple. The external speaker is built into the back cover, though.

[Q] Should I trust this charging coil?

I'm buying the larger back plate for a droid maxx, the larger battery, for a droid maxx, and now I am not sure if I should trust this coil for wireless charging? I currently own a droid ultra and after sustaining some damage that will drive my OCD crazy if not fixed, I figured I would convert it to a maxx as the devices are specified equivalents in all forms other than storage space and battery life

How damaged is it? Do you have any pictures of the coil? On my previous mini, there was an adhesive between the coil and the battery, it may be difficult to remove the coil without damaging it.
