The reason people don't like it is because it sucks for an "extended" battery. You can get another one almost 1000mAh bigger for the same physical size.

Which one would u recommend

I haven't tried any but from others' recommendations I would say hyperion 3500mah with the OEM extended cover (as the hyperion one cracks)

Samsung extended is like 2600 so hyperion is like 1000 bigger. Just search this forum for it.

Has anyone had any luck finding decent cases (even TPU) for the OEM extended cover? Amazon's got some kinda-crappy silicon cases for the Trexcell extended battery, but I'm not really a fan.

I have both the OEM extended battery and the Hyperion's. The Hyperion is 3500mAh and the OEM is 2600mAh, however the Hyperion is slightly thinner by a hair, and it runs cooler and has a much longer battery life. You won't have any problem fitting the Hyperion under the OEM extended battery case which is made of a better quality plastic than the Hyperion's that comes with the battery.

Hyperion Experience
I just ordered the Hyperion through Amazon and the case for it as well. I'm amazed! Took this phone from one that I can barely make it through 12 hours with minimal use and having GPS, data and wifi off except when I MUST have it (i.e. at lunch) to a totally new level where I have all services running throughout the day and extensive use without a charge for 12+ hours. Should have expected it - the battery has the same capacity as the Razr MAXX.
In reference to the case... Meh... I had the silicone one that I bought through Verizon on day one of owning this phone and it was a nice one. Felt good in the hand, lasted nearly 2 years (still works but not on the extended cover) and protected the phone from my occasional oafish drop. The one I have from Hyperion feels cheap (I guess because it is...), but does its job - I've dropped it a couple of times and had no issues. Only real issues I do have is 1) this case covers the hardware buttons on the bottom. With EP1, EP4 and FP1, this wasn't an issue as the backlighting worked randomly at best. With the FP5 update, I've found that the backlighting appears to function properly and the new cover precludes that. 2) the charging port's cutout was too small for the charger. Initially, I just pulled the cover down and charged it that way but who wants that? UGLY! So... That's what a razor blade is made for... I cut the hole bigger (carefully!) and have had no issue since.
I believe that will be my solution for the covering the hardware buttons backlighting as well...

prob not, i know for my old Droid 2 there were hardly any cases that supported the moto extended battery (i think 1 did)
Since i still can't tell if samsung actually has an official extended battery they say that supports the charge, i can't see many manufactures making one.

I actually prefer the heft. Thought the stock slim battery is too light and weak. The extended battery is giving me 18-22 hours of moderate usage.

Hyperion now has a silicon skin that fits with their 3500mAh extended battery. The description says it should also fit with most other 3500mAh or 3600 mAh extended batteries.

Thanks. I just installed my new Hyperion extended battery yesterday and it is too slippery I dropped it once already. Out of necessity, I cut out a hole on the standard size case. It's doable, but ugly from the back, which I don't care since I only see the front side anyway. Lol.
I'm more interested in how the front facing buttons would operate and feel with the rubbery cover.
TIA

Best battery?

Pretty much which is the best battery without having to change the back cover, and nfc or not.

I've got one of the Hyperion batteries. They sell them as a standalone product without the charger. The battery is about what you would expect for the $10 cost. As I expected, it doesn't last quite as long as the included battery, but it makes a good backup battery for when you need a little extra juice. The amazon reviews say that the charger is low quality, so i bought the RND dock off amazon to go with it. I'm new here so I can't post the link yet, sorry.
Thanks that's really helpful. If I may ask what kind of case or screen protector do you like?

According to reviews they get about 3 hours more...they're rated at 2250 mAh. Should be getting them Wednesday so I'll update when they arrive.
I always recommend getting 2 batteries and an external battery charger. I am never without a battery and just have to remember to pop a dead battery in the charger when I get home from work.
Honestly... The best battery for the skyrocket are the factory ones. Not bulging back and the mah is accurate. They are pricey @$35 a pop, but they are the best we can get.

I've got the otterbox commuter series. It's a nice case for what I need it for. Only thing is I have to take it off to use the dock or change batteries. Also best buy included an invisible shield protector on my phone (some BS policy they have). I never would have bought it on my own but it's a decent screen protector if you can get it installed right.

I was looking at either the commuter or, there is a seido active armor case. I got a decent .20 cent case to hold me over till I buy a pricey one.
I've heard problems regarding otterbox cases and the screen protector regarding dirt to be able to get under the protector. And the screen being scuffed if you ever cleaned it. Have you noticed anything like that?

Two batteries from Samsung? Do they sell a two pack with a charger? The reason l looked at the Hyperion was because of its charger. (Digging through the reveiws about charger problems people appear to be breaking off pins)

I have the commuter series case. It doesn't include a screen protector. But from the reviews I've seen of the defender, the speaker and camera holes are unprotected which allows dirt to get under it.

Well, I received these batteries several days early...was scheduled for this coming Wednesday and instead they arrived this past Saturday. Fully charged a battery, and today is my first day using them, but I can say that the percentage is certainly not dropping as quickly as the stock battery. It's actually noticeable.
The battery fits well without a replacement cover, but of course doesn't include NFC capability...
I'm getting an extra 2-3 hours off of those batteries. Definitely worth $30 for 2 batteries and an external charger...

Battery cases ie. Powerskin

Any experience with the powerskin? Any other alternatives? I really am looking for a case with extra battery and not just extra batteries or a different back cover. I like the idea of a case/battery combo.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk
I know some people who use it and it works for them but a lot of the reviews say it stops charging after a few months...
For the same price you can get the sedio 3800mah battery (60$ ) and then get the case for the extended battery also from sedio (20$ ) which might be a little bit more reliable..
Iirc, the phone won't deep sleep with the powerskin. You don't even need a battery that big. Nexus extended is far more than enough. You don't need one at all. I run 24 hours plus on stock with over 5 hours screen on, gtalk and text all day, emails, fb, weather, words with friends, stream music, and more.
With the nexus extended I'd need a new cover? If so, are there cases that accomdate for the new back cover?

That battery is awesome. I've had it for two days now. I am a moderate to heavy phone user, and it is sitting at 43% after 15 hours of being unplugged. 40% of that is screen time.
I had the power skin, worked great for awhile but now the USB cord on the bottom to connect to the phone stopped working. I could probably have it serviced under warranty but....yeah don't want to bother it wasn't that good
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
I am on my 4th Powerskin for my SR in less than two months. They either die and stop working or the charging port gets worn down so it only makes contact when you hold it and put pressure on it. It is realistically about an extra 75% added to your battery, but your phone uses it to stay 100% charged so none of your battery saving features work. Would recommend a larger replacement battery over a case battery. I ended up buying extra andido batteries off amazon and plan on giving that a try over this.
I bought it at AT&T so they keep giving me replacements but will not give me a refund.
Do not recommend.
On my 2nd powerskin and it along with the 1st one stopped recharging......waste of time. Plus it makes it bulky.
I went through two of them. The last one overheated my phone and killed it :-( at&t gave me a new phone and I changed to an otter box.

ZeroLemon 7500 mAh vs Hyperion 7500 mAh

I'm curious myself. I've seen in the reviews for the Hyperion version that the back plate causes some issues with the flash.
I don't know, but I was looking at the comments on amazon for the hyperion battery and someone noted there was a haze in pictures/video whenever the flash was used, due(argued) to the design of the back casing.
http://www.amazon.com/review/R98G9F...e=UTF8&ASIN=B00BCJZYE0&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=
On the other hand though, the zerolemon battery tends to modestly degrade the cell signal strength according to their reviews:
http://www.amazon.com/review/R2P0EL...e=UTF8&ASIN=B00CXZI3DQ&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=
So pick your poison, flaws with flash, or flaws with signal strength. It looks like it depends on signal in your area and what you use your phone for.

Its not that bad. It doesn't feel like the phone is made by playschool with the extra weight. The zerolemon blocks my signal sometimes to the point I want to break my phone. Thinking about returning it. I don't need it, just bought it since it was only $40.

I have the 5200 hyperion. I use my phone heavily all day long. Im currently sitting at work on my phone. My job consists of an hour of work so i spend the other 7 hours on my phone. I make it through the entire day without using power saving mode or any other conservative setting except for auto brightness. Im so glad I bought it and the added bulkiness isnt bad at all imo. Even if u are a very heavy user I doubt u will need the 7500.

I will say 7500 Is overkill but it no thicker than a 5200 mAh battery so the extra is nice to have.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
I notice in videos that the 7500 covers the rear speaker, does this have a serious effect on speaker volume/quality? I know the ZL case has openings at the bottom to try to compensate.
Have owned both, would recommend Hyperion
I have owned both the zerolemon and (currently) the hyperion battery. The hyperion battery is the same size as the standard extended battery size of 5200mah that Zcell makes and this means that the phone will fit inside a decent phone case (there are many different cases made to fit those specific extended battery dimensions . The zerolemon battery is MUCH larger (nearly twice the size) and requires an awkward back cover/case combo that is not sturdy at all and on top of that, because of its size, it will not fit in any phone cases I know of other than a leather pouch type that aren't fitted to hug the phone. That is the biggest drawback for me. I broke the screen on my phone and had to get another one - the only phone I have broken in the 9 years since I got my first one. The cell radio interference is bothersome only occasionally with the zerolemon battery but it does happen and it is noticeable when it does (think like 75-80% connection speed on average). Also the zerolemon battery seemed to have lost some of its capacity, probably slightly less than a fifth after the first 6 months I had it. I would highly recommend the hyperion battery over the zerolemon. The benefit of being able to have a modestly strong and protective case is important even to me (I rarely drop my phone). The cell radio interference of the zerolemon is bearable and definitely worth the extended battery capacity it delivers. The hyperion battery, however, delivers just as much juice without the radio interference and it does it in a small enough package to fit inside any of the variety of different cases made to fit phones with batteries the dimensions of the hyperion battery/back plate.
Do you know which case like Otterbox with stand and clip for belt or Zerolemon that fit with Hyperion extended 7500mha battery?
In my opinion...neither the ZL or the Hyperion. The Anker 7800mah extended battery has completely blown me away. The battery life on it is amazing (obviously since that's its purpose) and the TPU case that they give you feels really nice. The one thing I am curious to try is if the ZL Rugged case will fit with this battery. But from someone who has owned the ZL battery on my S4....save the money and buy the Anker 7800mah ($31.99 on amazon).
How much " extended " do you guys need ? Currently ive been using Sun Global 3150mAh Extended Battery for Galaxy S4. The size is the same as OEM samsung batt, just a bit heavier. Reputation of the brand? I dont wanna say, depends on you. The battery can last a 12 Hrs marathon with almost 4 Hrs screen-on time, most of which is Gaming and Social apps.
Dont make it impossible by yourself, a smartphone that can last 2 days? Holy crap that is a godlike battery. To me as long as it can stands out a heavy usage during a day then its good enough, more than that, PowerBank will do..I always carry a small size 6600mAh powerbank with me everytime i go out (except work).
The Anker 7800mah is the best. I have the ZL as well. Hands down Anker no question

zerolemon has good batteries .... but since they were charging for too much shipping - 20$... i bought the official charging kit from samsung...
using 2 stock oem batteries suffice 30hrs with 9hrs of screen time
if u want the max capacity then zerolemon 7500mAh is the best solution but the phone becomes bulky ..
We've got about a dozen different battery threads. I really recommend a 7500mAh battery, and to my knowledge only Zerolemon and Hyperion make them (I both own and recommend both). Not even Mugen makes batteries for this phone of that capacity.
I absolutely love my 5200mah hyperion. My battery used to die at work with power saving mode used and everything. Currently ive used my phone super heavy for 16 hours and I still have 22% without power save mode. Even though its double the mahs I feel like I get triple the life. Love it
I use the 5200 Hyperion as well. The phone still fits in my side belt cases a d I use the TPU case sometimes too.
