Can't install apps! - HTC Desire S

Hi I recently changed ROMs and I've tried 3 cm10, cm10.1 and svhd and when I try to install via titanium, I cannot click the install button, its as if the screen isn't working but that area of the screen works fine otherwise. I also tried installing an apk and same problem! Any help?

Have you enabled third party app installation? I think it's in the security settings.

Just some fyi

For the heck of it I tried installing an APk through astro file manager. It installed no problems.
I do have a completely stock inspire I bought yesterday.
Just thought I would make a quick mention because I kept seeing that side loading was disabled.

Just tried again and no go, app install blocked for security reasons
Don't know what to say then to he honest. I had astro on here to handle SD card stuff. Downloaded the rock player apk from the website. Installed through astro with no problem.
To make sure I wasn't going nuts, because I had rock installed through the market, I uninstalled both installed rock apps, restarted, and installed only the apk via astro. I did download the apk from my phone.
That's how it worked for me.

try a different apk besides that possibly cache or something affecting it. but I do know I cant and probaly no others can otherwise would be no reason for sideloader.
I'm on the road but ill find somebrandom apk and try it

I just downloaded pirates vs ninjas and installed via astro again. It'd working. Did you try installing the apk via astro off the SD card?

Yes, the Inspire allows sideloading.
Make sure "Unknown Sources" is checked under the Applications tab in the Settings.
Stock inspire supposebly doesn't. The stock rom doesn't have the unknown sources option. I honestly have no idea why it does on mine.
The backlfip allowed it this way. After the Aria though att locked android from installing anything but off the market.
This shouldn't work on my phone, but it does.

this dude is confused lol check unknown sources! yea well just be glad it works for ya because i dont think it does for anyone else, and yes I tried some through astro thats what i always use. Tried again after reading your post no go.

[Q] Please help me identify this icon...

It's the one to the left of the wifi signal.
It appeared after I installed Insert Coin.

Hearing aid icon....
You must have had the hearing aid option ticked before flashing. You can check to see if that setting exists in that rom or not, I am not sure. You'll have to speak to the dev or someone in the thread to see how to get it off if the setting isn't there.

I bet your right. I did have that enabled on the stock rom. I do not see it in the settings now.
I wish I could get rid of it.
Hearing aid...most people enable that have issues with the sound being low

Ok, this is driving me crazy.
There is no option to disable "Hearing Aid" in the Insert Coin Rom.
Here is what I have done so far trying to get rid of the icon:
Installed Revolution HD, Flashed " Superwipe" etc. The icon showed back up after initial boot.
I then restored a nandroid of the stock rom, when to settings-call and unchecked the hearing aid option.
Next, I did superwipe again and did a fresh install of Android Revolution HD 1.18 and the icon is back.
Any suggestions?

Did you do a titanium restore to restore your settings as well as apps? If you restored the system settings, you could have restored the hearing aid setting inadvertently.
Try another rom first. I used both virtuous and now running leedroid. I still have the hearing aid options checked but they removed the icon. I see it flashing on and off. Anyone using your rom have the same issue?
Yep. Same issue which I previously thought wasn't a issue. Just thought it was related to something else as ROM has been the only stable one by far.

I'm having the same icon showing up on three roms, virtuous, rosinas senseless ROM and baadnewz insertion 2.3.4.

Weird, I read somewhere that certain devs removed that dreaded ear icon lol. I ran both virtuous and leedroid and I know for a fact that the hearing aid option is still on. Not sure what else one can do, sorry.
What version of virtuous where you on? Last one I tried was 1.3

Not that I'm aware of. It doesn't matter which rom that I install, how many times I wipe or super-wipe, it has always returned.
I seemed to have gotten rid of mine. I restored to stock ROM, shut it off, then super wiped and installed Android revolution. And its been gone so far.

I've been wondering how to get rid of this icon as well. Nothing I've done seems to get rid of it. I'm using Android Revolution 3.0 and everytime i do a boot the icon comes back. I did disable the hearing aid icon before I installed the ROM.
I wish one of the devs would chime in on this issue. I wonder if they are aware of it?
Did you try to disable Google backup before wiping and while setting up the new ROM.

Skype Issues

I've tried it with multiple ROMs and firmwares. Nothing I do works. Clean installs, etc. I had it work on Pegasus 1.5 Sense 3.6, but now I can't get it to work at all. Multiple radios, multiple RILs.. I'm at a loss.
Anyone had this problem?

If you're referring to the regular Skype issues like problems logging in, logging out, getting stuck, force close etc. then you need to download the modded Skype app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1148708
This modded version by theos0o is really awesome. It solves most of the headache bugs found in the official Skype app. However, you'll still be experiencing a few disconnects and minor bugs once and a while.
Before installing the modded apk uninstall the official app and I recommend you reboot before installing the modded apk.
PS: The green screen thing can easily be solved by updating the OpenGL drivers to version 2.18.

Thanks, I'll give this a shot. It's not the green screen, my cameras just won't turn on. They work with ooVoo, Yahoo Messenger, and other video chats, just not Skype.

my device work very well
Same issue
I am having the same issue. Not able to search for any device or anyone can see me. When I turn on bluetooth it turns on but not finding anything. Taken it to a service center, he suggested to revert the OS to 2.3 and check (not sure how to revert back to 2.3) if that is still not working then he would replace the hardware. Please suggest, is there anything I can do to fix the issue from OS level.
Note: My phone not rooted and installed official RUU update4.0 from HTC dev.
I've fixed my Bluetooth I reflashed the ruu.
I now run custom Rom and it works perfect.
It's just software so try flashing ics again
Good luck and I hope it works for you

Which ROM did you install? I tried installing PACman and Viper ROM's but still the same issue. After multiple tries it will detect the bluetooth device but does not connect, now again if you try to search the same old story. Not sure if this is the hardware issue or software issue.

Tired different ROM's (Viper, JellyFirebean v2) some times it works and some time it does not. Seems to be some issue with the hardware will get it checked in Service center...may be later.
