Unlock phone by MEID - Droid 2 Global General

Hi guys!
I bought droid 2 global to use in europe. I only find the meid number and not imei.
if I write *#06# I see only MEID number: HEX and DEC
please, help me
how can I unlock?
must I activate the phone ?
Thank you in advance
Paolo

The phone must be in GSM mode for *#06# to display the IMEI.
The IMEI is printed on the label in the battery compartment.
The IMEI can be viewed in About Phone/Phone Status when in Global or GSM mode.
All these questions were answered before. Congratulations, you have won “The Smartest Person Ever” badge for asking them.

The phone is A956 Global but under battery I dont have any IMEI, only MEID and another code.
If I write *#06# the phone show only DEC and HEX
how is it possible?
please, help me
Thank you
Paolo

[Q] Droid 2 Global

N00B here! but tried to gather as much info as I could..
Got a VZW droid 2 global from ebay that the seller profiled as "unlocked"
I'm in Central America and trying to register it with a GSM 850/1900 carrier but it won't connect to the network at all.
It had a 14 IMEI code... found it's translation to 15 to 17 IMEI and bought a the unlock code on a site. I got the unlock code but the phone has nowhere to enter it.
Found a post stating that it should ask for the code after inserting a foreign sim card or waiting 30 minutes if nothing happens. tried that and there's no prompt.
I have accessed the testing menu with *#*#4636#*#* and select the GSM only and WCDMA preferred (I got an HTC Inspire 4G working with that one here) and it is recognizing the GSM 850/1900 local carriers but unable to get any network access from them.
Found that VZW locks the carrier's network ids but the phone is recognizing them.
Again: ir recognizes the networks but is not asking for an unlock code... all the posts states to enter the code but they don't say how (the phone must prompt it automatically)
Please let me know if there is any way to manually pull up the field to enter the unlock code or if I can try anything else to unlock it
Thanks!
First, the phone's IMEI is written on the label under the battery.
Second, if you switch it to GSM mode it will output the IMEI in *#06# and in Settings, About phone, Status.
The 14 digit code you mentioned is probably MEID in hex form.
Switching to GSM is done by going to Settings, Wireless & networks, Mobile networks, Network Mode.
Using the service menu you mentioned is wrong and can lead to the phone being unable to connect to GSM at all, in which case you must reflash the SBF.
Actually I got the unlock code but there is nowhere to enter it.
Also it allowed to me to at least view the available networks after changing it to GSM/WCDMA and seems to be trying to connect to one but there's no signal at all.
If I do a network search now it will show me the available networks 5 or 6 (2G&3G), selected one and it just shows that it is not able to connect to that network
BTW, found that the radio was off as well and had to switch it on using the testing menu because by going to Settings, Wireless & networks, Mobile networks didn't allow me to access it at all, it was just grayed out and there was no way I could turn on the radio using that option..... sorry... I think I got everything I need except where to enter the unlock code
It looks like you have successfully (like other people before you) fried the GSM radio settings. Congratulations.
You need to flash the SBF to reset the phone's radio module to its original state.
If you actually bought a phone that was already unlocked it won't ask for an unlock code.
A locked phone asks for the code the moment you power it on and let it boot with a non-Verizon SIM card.
The code you supposedly bought is not for your phone at all, because you requested it for an IMEI you made yourself from something that was never an IMEI.
For me, The unlock screen appear only on original rom with non-verizon sim.
not appear on custom rom.

[Q] Any way to change subscription mode from NV to RUIM

We want to use Nexus 5 or other carriers CDMA network, e.g. China Telecom, but according recent information recent, seems Nexus 5 used NV subscription mode, that means get ESN code from NV, this is method used by Sprint.
Is there any possibility to switch the subscription method to RUIM mode to get ESN or pESN code from RUIM?
I suspect this is the key to enable it on other carriers network besides change MEID or IMEI directly in NV ROM.
Does it work to add codes below in build.prop?
ril.subscription.types = RUIM
Look for your kindly help.
Thanks in advance.

SM-G920W8 | No Option To Connect to LTE

I bought an Unlocked Canadian S6 recently, and it just won't let me connect to the LTE network.
Model Numer : SM-G920W8
Android Version : 5.0.2
Baseband : G920W8VLU1AOCG
Connecting to the LTE is not even an option. When I go in the Network Options, I get the choice between :
-WDCMA/GSM (auto connect)
- WDCMA only
- GSM only
I know for a fact that I am in the coverage zone, so no need to ask that silly question
I've tried different SIM cards, played in the options a bit, and factory reset the phone about 5 times now, yet nothing seems to work.
Also, when I try to do the update, it just reboots and gives me an Android logo and a failed Icon
I've only seen one other post like this from a carrier's support website, but no solutions were found.
**Update : For a reason, after a recovery, it will connect to the LTE for a bit or until next boot, then go back to what it is now.
First question, who did you buy the phone from? Second, Is it second hand? By default, Wind mobile does not allow the LTE option to be displayed in system settings as they as a carrier don't have LTE. It is blocked by the CSC setting for the carrier. As for other carriers It should leave you the option to connect in settings where you say it is not. If it is a Wind phone, You would need to change the CSC to enable the LTE selection. There is a method to force LTE even without option in settings, but I think it is removed in the latest firmware. Try dialing *#2263# in the dialer. It may bring you to menu that will allow you to select LTE. This is not a permanent method though as it will need to be done every boot. The other way, (If you are in fact a Wind/Mobilicity phone) is to enter dialer and enter *#272*IMEI# with IMEI being your devices unique code. If at all possible, take a full nand and Titanium Backup before doing this and be sure to transfer everything off the phone to a PC. This method wipes everything and I mean everything off the phone buy is a surefire way to enable LTE.
Yes, it was second hand. I didn't ask who was his carrier simply because it was unlocked.
I'll try it tomorrow, thanks for the information
Here is the menu you will see when you type the *#272*imei# code into your dialer. The codes are the carrier names. Mine which is GLW is Wind, BMC is Bell, RWC is Rogers, etc.
Maybe there is no LTE in your area...

It would still be visible in the Settings/Mobile Networks/Network Mode menu which it is not. His problem is more than that.

Sweet! It works :good: Thanks man
Now, would you have any ideas on why the update won't work? I didn't get much into it yet, but I will soon.
I'm not sure why it wouldn't update, but now that you have changed the CSC you can download the update and flash with Odin. Pick your carrier and go to town. The guy running the following thread runs his own firmware host. He's got amazing DL speeds. Usually takes me 6 or so minutes to do the 1.6gb file. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3086387
I'm having the same issue.

Connected with someone selling a G920W8 version. LTE is disabled and the codes aren't working. Can you reaffirm which unlock code worked for you? I'm on Fido, what LTE network are you using?
hi BCSC
Thanks for the details. I searched complete net and read all articles but nothing set me up with the proper thing. i read your solution i dialled *#2263# and all i got is service mode and in that i went to band selection , LTE and the all ....... Yes and its showing LTE in mobile data. THanks so much.
But now another issue, network is showing perfect but no outgoing and incoming calls.
in incoming its showing busy and on outgoing its not connecting to another phone.
And, Lte is not showing in mobile networks, There only 3 options still are showing.
Mine is same Wind S6 but i had to use in India.
Let Me know
Thanks once again

Picking LTE from the service mode will note make it visible from the settings menu. Its more of a workarpund instead of a way of permanently enabling it. As for the issue of no out/in calls, my best guess is that it could be due to which LTE bands are being used or are available in India. Unfortunatly I have no way to test that option. I only was successful in getting the Wind LTE option on Canadian carriers.

Is it possible for Pixel/Pixel XL to use China telecom LTE and make phone calls?

Hey I recently purchased Pixel XL from store.google.com and had it shipped to California and took it to Shanghai, China. After inserting the china telecom sim card, i found that I can only make/receive phone calls but cannot connect to LTE network.
It is clear that the hardware does support the china telecome LTE network. I even find a small tutorial of switching to a mode where I can use LTE network but cannot make phone calls.
Dial *#*#4636#*#*
on the upper right cornor , choose United States
in the middle of the screen choose CDMA AUTO (PRL)
turn on Airplane mode and then off
Then I can find LTE signals.
But the phone cannot make phone calls under this mode.
I'm not sure if I can switch it back to make phone calls mode. And is it possible to solve this problem and make it able to receive phone calls and have LTE network at the same time? Tremendous thanks!! If I can provide any information, please guide me to find the information and I will happily provide!.
Have you tried LATE/CDMA/UMTS auto (PRL) mode?
I could imagine that this let's you use both, China mobile LATE (which obviously needs the CDMA mode) as well as UMTS as fallback for calls.

Currently a file(carrier_policy.xml in the EFS partition of Pixel 2 series and probably Pixel 2016s) lacks proper configuration for China Telecom with its LTE network using SRLTE (which is a common practise of establishing the CDMA and LTE network at the same time).
Thus the team can and should fix it by:
Adding the following 2 strings(in red) to the carrier_policy.xml in the EFS partition as follows:
......
<!-- List of the MCCs in which SRLTE is allowed -->
<mcc_list name="sxlte_mccs"> 455 460 </mcc_list>
<!-- These are the serving system PLMNs for which SRLTE will be allowed
-->
<!-- NOTE: Proper functioning of the SRLTE policy requires that there
be an PLMN list named "sxlte_plmns". Do NOT rename this list.
-->
<plmn_list name = "sxlte_plmns">
455-02 455-07 460-03 460-11
</plmn_list>
......

How to unlock Huawei bootloader

I have a Huawei Mate 9 with EMUI 8 on AT&T. I need to get it to EMUI 9 for VoLTE operation. It won't do that automatically in the US.
I first need to unlock the bootloader and I do have the password.
I have spent days trying to do this making baby steps and I am totally frustrated and currently here :
Phone is in Developer mode with OEM Unlocking, Allow ADB debugging in charge only mode and USB debugging enabled.
I open Powershell in ADB & Fastboot Portable folder and enter:
./ADB reboot bootloader
Phone boots into bootloader showing:
Android reboot reason:
bootloader 1
NA
reboot_enter_fastboot_common_func
PHONE Locked
FRP Unlock
If I enter:
./fastboot flashing unlock
I get:
FAILED (remote: 'check password failed!')
fastboot: error: Command failed
I do not have any locks or passwords on my phone.
Where do I go from here???????
Follow on question will be:
Where do I get a version of EMUI 9, or an Android Pie version for this phone?
Thank you for bringing back my sanity.
I managed to get it to android 9. My provider still says it cannot do VoLTE. Is that true? If not, how do I enable VoLTE.
I still would like to know how to unlock bootloader.
It depends on what band you can use in your area. I can use Band 2 VoLTE in SF bay area. I call H2O(ATT) to enable LTE/4G on Mate 9. I have to reset network setting to get VoLTE. You can use"Network Cell Info Lite" or "NetMonitor" to check whether you on 4G/LTE
I have a Huawei Mate 8 with EMUI 8. But it does support VoLTE.

network cell info lite says my phone is not VoLTE capable. It is now on Android 9 and I don't find any indication of a switch to turn it on so I guess the Mate 9 is not VoLTE. But you say it is working on your Mate 9. When I talked to H2O, they had no clue and basically said my Mate 9 was not capable. That was with EMUI 8. So, Android 9 did not change anything.
Depending on the operator, a phone must sometimes be operator-branded and/or use operator-customised system software to be able to use VoLTE. Your subscription (incl. SIM card) must support VoLTE for the device model you're using. To inquire if your device, software, subscription and SIM card support VoLTE, contact your mobile network operator.
A phone's VoLTE capability basically doesn't depend on Android OS.
I get one support person saying it is compatible and another sayng it isn't, then another saying it is...........

Does Network cell info show Mate 9 on LTE H2O? if it still show LTE H2O when you make a call, that mean ATT did made a change on their side.
under GAUGE, NCI Lite shows HSPA H2O
Under STATS it shows 100% 3G
Under HISTORY it shows 3G
If I set the Preferred network mode to LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto, I don't receive calls but I can make them.
If it is set to WCDMA/GSM auto everything works both incoming and outgoing calls, text, & data.
So it appears it is only doing 3G. Why am I getting mixed messages from H2O?
I had a LTE/4G switch under EMUI 8 but it is not there under Android 9.1.
However, when I turned it on I got the same response as selecting LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto.
So, why does yours work and mine does not??????????

Here what happened to me when I call.
operator: there is no LTE support for Mate 9
I: Someone use ATT and has Mate 9 support LTE.
Operator: ok, let me work on it. It set, reboot your phone, it should work. Reset network settings if it does not work.
what I did
1. reboot, H2O still uses 3G when I made calls
2. Reset network settings, and reboot. H2O on 4G LTE when I make calls.
When I had set it to LTE (in 8 or 9), I could make calls but I could not receive calls.
So, you can make AND receive calls?
My network settings are:
H2O INTERNET
PRODATA
MMSC = http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS proxy = proxy.mobile.att.net
APN type = defult,mms,supl
APN protocol = IPv4
Does that match yours?
Almost, I have MMS port 80
Try
1. Call H2O to provision VoLTE
2. Reset NETWORK SETTINGS. This step clear APN setting too, enter APN setting after reset, reboot
Yes, my MMS is also port 80. So, by your experience, H2O has not provisioned VoLTE for my phone. I will try calling them one more time.
What is your Preferred network mode, LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto, or WCDMA/GSM auto?
Thanks
LTE/WCDMA/GSM auto
you need to perform step 2 after provider setup on their side.
I will give them a call in the AM. Thanks
If I set mine to that, I do not rcv any calls.
Everything else works.
I will call them in the AM, thanks
If I set mine to that, I don't rcv any calls. Everything else works.
