Video Output to a Projector - 7" Kindle Fire HD Accessories

Anyone done something like this? I've been researching this kinda stuff and it looks pretty cool. Not sure which projector I'd buy but it looks like a somewhat affordable way to keep the kids entertained for a while, or even have a mini movie night in the living room.

well i dindt try but it looks safe , and hdmi cable an hd capable projector should work

TV Out - Pictures

Ok, I can't find the post that asked for details about the TV Out cable, but mine arrived today, so I've attached a few pics of it in action.
When you plug the cable in, you're asked which type of output you want to use (PAL or NTSC). Once you choose, the device forces itself into landscape mode and displays the "Video Out" screen with four shortcuts (Powerpoint, Pics & Vids, Internet, YouTube).
You can choose one of the shortcuts, or just go to the Start Menu - everything is mirrored on the TV screen. I used Coreplayer to start playing an XVid of "Be Kind Rewind". There was a bit of flicker when using the "Qtv Display" option, but the "DirectDraw" option was flicker free, and worked flawlessly. No slowdown or judder at all with my 700Mb file, and the picture quality on the TV was surprisingly good.
Programs like YouTube which have to be displayed in Portrait mode, and pictures displayed in portrait mode are shown with black bars on the sides of the TV screen, while the device just rotates itself back to portrait mode.
Opera looks good on the big screen too, there's a picture of the BBC homepage, with plenty of small text, which is certainly more readable on a 32" screen than it is on a 2.8" screen...
Any questions, ask away, but I think it's pretty self explanatory...
Edit: One more thing. While I was taking these pictures, I received a call. Pressing the "Answer" button put the phone in Speakerphone mode, with the audio routed through the TV - very good quality it was too.
Cool, thanks for posting. I was hoping to hold out for a while, but I think I might have to jump on one of these whenever they are released in the US. Hopefully the CDMA version isn't too crippled compared to the GSM version. I'd switch to a GSM carrier, but I only pay $30 a month for 500 minutes, unlimited text/pic messages, unlimited data, etc. AT&T just can't beat that.
Great shots!!

Dude...I don't know if it's your TV or the camera you're using but these shots are AMAZING!
It looks like I'll be able to sell my projector and do my PPT presentations straight from the TP.
Can't wait!! Thanks for sharing!

The TV's over two years old now, but I still haven't found one that gives a better picture (annoying - because I'm trying find a 42" upgrade).
Camera was just a Nokia N95 that I have to hand, and the pics were shrunk to get them below the forum posting limit.
When you plug it can you touch the TV instead of the phone screen?
JK of course!
Very good quality, even web browsing looks very decent! Where did you buy the cable, and how much did you pay?
The dreaded Expansys, I'm afraid:
£16.99 for the cable
£8.49 for a 3.5mm headphone adapter
£4.06 for delivery
£10 off with a voucher
£19.54 total
I think they make up the delivery prices as they go along?!
Was really worried what the performance would be like when playing videos as I read alot it's mainly for presentations.
Now, I feel ok with the upcoming purchase
Thx man
This is the first device in ages where using DirectDraw in CorePlayer doesn't mean stuttering and page tearing to at least some extent.
And there's no need to worry, performance doesn't alter at all when the TV cable is plugged in.
It can only be a good thing that you can plug the charger into the TV cable though, because the screen stays lit on the device while you're watching through the TV. For a two hour movie, I'm pretty sure the battery would take a big hit...
That is so amazing! Do you think you can post of shot of you going through a PowerPoint presentation?
WOW! that's really awesome. I can make use of that.
The Raphael, Is A Must Got To Have Mobile Device
This is the reason that I have to have this mobile device, the Raphael a superior highly enhanced mobile device, revealing yet to be now technology, TV out, nice photos guys, yeah..........!
Can you try to do remote desktop on your touch pro?
What is the tv-out resolution? is it 1024 x 768?
Does it has vga-out?
thanks.

I'll give remote desktop a go on Monday when I'm back at home.
No idea what the output resolution is, but I'd be surprised if it was anything other than 640 x 480, the image on a widescreen TV appears to be stretched slightly to fit the width.
It's just composite, not VGA. I guess you could try using a VGA cable from an HTC Advantage, but I have no idea if that'd work...

Said three days when I ordered too, but it turned up the next day. Postman was knocking on the door about 30 minutes after I got the e-mail to say it had been despatched...
Does anyone make a mini usb to 15 pin cable? I know you can buy mini usb to RCA cable and then a RCA to 15 pin cable.
I'm wondering because then you could connect Raphael directly to a projector for Power Point presentations for business.

HTC make one for the Advantage. As I said a couple of posts ago though, no idea if it'll work on the Raphael...
Video
Is there any chance we can get a video shot of the performance on the video out? I'd love to see if it would actually be worth it to use as a video player on the road?
Thanks good job!
Finally a reason why I would put a full lenght movie on my phone. Watching movie on a 2.8 inch screen is dumb. It's only for show. Now, With the tv output, I can put 4 movies and watch in anywhere there's a tv. Even on my Mini van's 12 inch lcd.Whooohooo!!

I'm sure it's gonna perform OK. The phone's resolution is 640x480. A dvd quality is 720x480 so It will look fine fasho.

[Q] Picture looks like crap over HDMI.

Bought a micro hdmi to my tablet today. The guy in the store gave me one when I said it was for my Transformer Pad.
The thing is that the picture I get on my tv looks cartoonish, like when you take a photo and put on a effect that looks like you painted it yourself.
Anyone know why it looks like ****?
Unfortunately, that is the quality we get. Both TF101 and TF300T look about the same over hdmi, maybe the 300 is slightly better. The only thing u can really do is to have a high quality cable, and make adjustments to your tv's color, contrast, and picture size. My guess as to why this is...it probly has something to do with using the micro hdmi connector instead of a full size connector...the small connector is the bottleneck, reducing the throughput and quality.
I don't know about pictures, I'll have to try some. I do know that my HD movies looks perfect on my 46" TV. I've never paid more than $5 for any HDMI cable, if you pay more than that you're probably getting ripped off or just paying to have someones name printed on it. HDMI is digital, 1's and 0's, there's really no difference in cables, the old style RCA cables were analog, and needed to be short length and high quality. You can google it if you don't believe it.

LOL! What BS! HDMI is a digital signal not analog. With digital there is either a signal or no no signal. The micro cable conforms to the same HDMI spec as the regular cable so there can be no quality loss.
The last time I connect my TF101 to my TV it looked fine. No cartoons. And I'm using some cheap cable from Amazon.
My tv picture looks awesome when connected through hdmi. Probably 10 times better than the display on the tablet due to full hd.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA Premium HD app

Wow dude...who pissed in your wheaties? I didn't say that this was the absolute truth. It was my guess...If i am wrong, then i am wrong...IT WAS A GUESS! Take that chip off of your shoulder and take a chill pill.
I know what he was talking about..the homescreen looks a bit cartoonish because of the colors, but it does not have this effect when viewing movies and other things.
It has this effect all the time, on the homescreen and watching movies and pictures.
I didn't want to order a cable so I bought a over priced one for about $20. (Yes it was expensive but I am lazy )
I think the cable i pretty good, even supportin 4k resulution, but what do I know
Should I return the cable sense te quality is really bad? My Lg KU990 Viewty from 2007 did a much better job when connected to a tv, movies looked great, so a device from 2012 should be better.
Well according to the guys above, it doesnt matter if the cable is a namebrand or not. I would have to disagree. Not all cables are made equal. Different manufacturers use different quality of materials which can lead to different results. Give it a shot and replace the cable. Doesn't hurt to try. I just cant see it being a tv problem. If it was, then why would my ps3 and xbox360 both connected by hdmi not have this problem? That leaves the cable and the connecting device left to look at.

Yes, the picture quality is great from my 360. I will return the cable someday soon then.
There are setting available on the Pad once you have plugged HDMI in but I think they only control the screen ration.
The first thing I would check on your TV is if there are any custom enabled when using HDMI (Vibrant, or Game etc.). You may find that your TV is adding image processing which can result in garish colours or a very unbalanced Gamma curve.
The only time you would need to worry about picture quality from the cable itself is if you went for a freakishly long one, say 3M+. Then you'd noticed some signal degradation as the bit errors would increase significantly though this would more likely produce ghosting or image lag.
Above poster got the cable info correct.
A 3+M cable should use super leads, so if it doesn't work it's crap.
In other words there are two kinds of HDMI cables. The working kind and crap.
The working kind can be any price (from cheap to insanely expensive), but IF you're buying a really, really long cable you can start looking at name brands.
My cable is 2 m. Going to watch Burn Notice on another tv. Will see if it's better there.

Time to move on, but put my 6210 to good use

Picked up a Nexus 7 and I'm in love again. Real shame Sammy never came through with updates. Still love my Galaxy s4 too, but...found a good use for my Plus.
Bought the HDMI adapter and hooked it up to my TV. Our TV provider has an app to watch any channel through a Tablet or PC. Tried Chrome Cast but they don't support it, bastards!
Picture is great, and I don't have to rent the cable box to watch HD or access the DVR. Payback is only about 6-7 months, and can move it to any room easily.
Just a thought....

I am thinking about using my in my car...I have a Hyundai Genesis Coupe and the install is pretty simple. Just a $40 navigation bezel and some double sided tape to hold it in place. Power would be wired in and charge via 12v car power.

Great idea - been looking for an excuse to spring for a N7. Or might try a Chromebook (real keyboard is handy).
Cable box is just another added cost to jack your bill. Still liking my little GT7+ a lot, still.

Connect to TV

Hello people, just a quick question. I am wondering what is the best way to connect my S6 to a TV. I thought that I would at least be able to connect it with a cable but after a little reading I was shocked to find this is not possible.
Thanks

I use the screen mirroring function.
What hardware is required for screen mirroring?
A TV capable of it. Or a miracast/chromecast dongle.

Well I use movie/tv apps such as showbox, cartoonHD etc... and screen mirror to my TV, and if the movie is HD Quality, then it'll show near HD on the tv, and thats with my pretty old tv. Quality near or does look identical to what it does on the phone, definitely worth the money very useful tool
