Time to move on, but put my 6210 to good use - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

Picked up a Nexus 7 and I'm in love again. Real shame Sammy never came through with updates. Still love my Galaxy s4 too, but...found a good use for my Plus.
Bought the HDMI adapter and hooked it up to my TV. Our TV provider has an app to watch any channel through a Tablet or PC. Tried Chrome Cast but they don't support it, bastards!
Picture is great, and I don't have to rent the cable box to watch HD or access the DVR. Payback is only about 6-7 months, and can move it to any room easily.
Just a thought....

I am thinking about using my in my car...I have a Hyundai Genesis Coupe and the install is pretty simple. Just a $40 navigation bezel and some double sided tape to hold it in place. Power would be wired in and charge via 12v car power.

Great idea - been looking for an excuse to spring for a N7. Or might try a Chromebook (real keyboard is handy).
Cable box is just another added cost to jack your bill. Still liking my little GT7+ a lot, still.

TV Out - Pictures

Ok, I can't find the post that asked for details about the TV Out cable, but mine arrived today, so I've attached a few pics of it in action.
When you plug the cable in, you're asked which type of output you want to use (PAL or NTSC). Once you choose, the device forces itself into landscape mode and displays the "Video Out" screen with four shortcuts (Powerpoint, Pics & Vids, Internet, YouTube).
You can choose one of the shortcuts, or just go to the Start Menu - everything is mirrored on the TV screen. I used Coreplayer to start playing an XVid of "Be Kind Rewind". There was a bit of flicker when using the "Qtv Display" option, but the "DirectDraw" option was flicker free, and worked flawlessly. No slowdown or judder at all with my 700Mb file, and the picture quality on the TV was surprisingly good.
Programs like YouTube which have to be displayed in Portrait mode, and pictures displayed in portrait mode are shown with black bars on the sides of the TV screen, while the device just rotates itself back to portrait mode.
Opera looks good on the big screen too, there's a picture of the BBC homepage, with plenty of small text, which is certainly more readable on a 32" screen than it is on a 2.8" screen...
Any questions, ask away, but I think it's pretty self explanatory...
Edit: One more thing. While I was taking these pictures, I received a call. Pressing the "Answer" button put the phone in Speakerphone mode, with the audio routed through the TV - very good quality it was too.
Cool, thanks for posting. I was hoping to hold out for a while, but I think I might have to jump on one of these whenever they are released in the US. Hopefully the CDMA version isn't too crippled compared to the GSM version. I'd switch to a GSM carrier, but I only pay $30 a month for 500 minutes, unlimited text/pic messages, unlimited data, etc. AT&T just can't beat that.
Great shots!!

Dude...I don't know if it's your TV or the camera you're using but these shots are AMAZING!
It looks like I'll be able to sell my projector and do my PPT presentations straight from the TP.
Can't wait!! Thanks for sharing!

The TV's over two years old now, but I still haven't found one that gives a better picture (annoying - because I'm trying find a 42" upgrade).
Camera was just a Nokia N95 that I have to hand, and the pics were shrunk to get them below the forum posting limit.
When you plug it can you touch the TV instead of the phone screen?
JK of course!
Very good quality, even web browsing looks very decent! Where did you buy the cable, and how much did you pay?
The dreaded Expansys, I'm afraid:
£16.99 for the cable
£8.49 for a 3.5mm headphone adapter
£4.06 for delivery
£10 off with a voucher
£19.54 total
I think they make up the delivery prices as they go along?!
Was really worried what the performance would be like when playing videos as I read alot it's mainly for presentations.
Now, I feel ok with the upcoming purchase
Thx man
This is the first device in ages where using DirectDraw in CorePlayer doesn't mean stuttering and page tearing to at least some extent.
And there's no need to worry, performance doesn't alter at all when the TV cable is plugged in.
It can only be a good thing that you can plug the charger into the TV cable though, because the screen stays lit on the device while you're watching through the TV. For a two hour movie, I'm pretty sure the battery would take a big hit...
That is so amazing! Do you think you can post of shot of you going through a PowerPoint presentation?
WOW! that's really awesome. I can make use of that.
The Raphael, Is A Must Got To Have Mobile Device

I'll give remote desktop a go on Monday when I'm back at home.
No idea what the output resolution is, but I'd be surprised if it was anything other than 640 x 480, the image on a widescreen TV appears to be stretched slightly to fit the width.
It's just composite, not VGA. I guess you could try using a VGA cable from an HTC Advantage, but I have no idea if that'd work...

Said three days when I ordered too, but it turned up the next day. Postman was knocking on the door about 30 minutes after I got the e-mail to say it had been despatched...
Does anyone make a mini usb to 15 pin cable? I know you can buy mini usb to RCA cable and then a RCA to 15 pin cable.
I'm wondering because then you could connect Raphael directly to a projector for Power Point presentations for business.

HTC make one for the Advantage. As I said a couple of posts ago though, no idea if it'll work on the Raphael...
Video
Is there any chance we can get a video shot of the performance on the video out? I'd love to see if it would actually be worth it to use as a video player on the road?
Thanks good job!
Finally a reason why I would put a full lenght movie on my phone. Watching movie on a 2.8 inch screen is dumb. It's only for show. Now, With the tv output, I can put 4 movies and watch in anywhere there's a tv. Even on my Mini van's 12 inch lcd.Whooohooo!!

I'm sure it's gonna perform OK. The phone's resolution is 640x480. A dvd quality is 720x480 so It will look fine fasho.

slingbox question and bluetooth headpones question

okay guys two part question here. i REALLY want to get a slingbox so i can get the slingplayer app and watch tv on the go during long trips since i have 4 spare nexus one batteries. does it only work on dvr boxes? i have a dvr box but not by big name companies like DirectTV. i got one for Service Electric, a local cable television distributor. would the slingbox work on all dvrs or only certain ones?
second question is what are some good bluetooth headphones? i want some bluetooth headphones for the gym since i hate getting the wires tangled up while im working out. any good pairs under $100?
I have two slingboxes, one on Uverse and another on a basic cable line. I've had them hooked to many devices in the 4 years or so. Cable, satellite, basic equipment Even VCR's. Slingmedia has built around AV equipment. With the desktop versions, the software remote looks just like your device's. Very handy.

wow nice. i see the two versions of slingbox online. the HD and regular one. the HD one doesnt give a better picture than the regular one to the nexus one does it?
I actually steam a lot to my big screen. So I recommend the HD anyway. Better than wishing you had bought it later.
It is a chunk of cash, but I use mine a lot. Baseball and hockey.
Bluetooth Headphone recommendation
I have no knowledge of slingboxes, so I will jump into the BT side of your question, lol.
For the gym, for me, BT headsets that have been great to me in my usage has been the Sony Ericsson lines. There are two out, the one I currently use, the MW600. It has a clip but if you want something that is just plain jane, there is also the Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800. With the IS800, you cannot control the music, whereas the MW600 you can skip tracks and adjust volume, also a built in FM radio transmitter, which is cool IMO.

Phones with TV Out?

I'm looking for something that will give me a TV Out function.
I travel a lot and I had thought about a netbook that I could hook up to a hotel TV but I already carry a rubbish work laptop so I don't really need to be lugging a netbook too.
Thats got me to thinking about phones with TV-Out.
Ideally I'd like something that I can playback movies, browse the web and maybe play some games (SNES, Genesis emus) via a hotel TV, it doesn't have to be HDMI in fact I'd probably rather have composite so I can connect it to the antiquated TV's the hotels I stay in seem to have!
Any suggestions?
here is a partial list:

I have seen confirmation that the Samsung Galaxy S can dump out component thru its 3.5mm headphone jack.
I think that would suit you perfectly.
Why don't you consider using an adaptor of some kind for your laptop since it almost certainly has a video out interface?
But if I had to choose a phone for TV-out, I'd probably pick the Galaxy S as well since I saw it's HDMI out demoed and it was quite nice.
Rhodium has TV out and works well

[Q] Connecting GTab to TV

Is there a way to connect a GTab up to a TV? Usually a standard Laptop can be hooked up to a TV via "S Video" cable and the 3 and a half Jack. Just wondering because I'd like to stream movies on my GTab and watch them on my TV (a much larger screen).

Not yet. VS should be releasing the HDMI cable/dock that connects to the bottom of the G Tablet some time soon. I dont know if I have the desire to have one, but it would be kinda interesting.
Scott
someone on the forums did find a dock that he got that was made in china for the zpad i believe it was made for but he used it with his g tablet and it works great. look around the forums i believe its in the accessories section under "g tablet dock" or something like that.
IIRC it's the ZPad dock... check in the accessories forum or the general market forum as there are two threads going...
One guy is doing group buys of cases & docks, while a second guy just bought a lot of 20 docks and is selling them at cost... c. $70 incl. shipping IIRC. (dunno what the first guy's prices are though...)

[Q] Miracast?

Hey. So I was at a friend's house and ended up using the miracast function on his TV. Honestly, it kicks MHL's behind thanks to ease of use as I didn't have to be close to the TV...
Now I am not willing to upgrade my TV just yet (mostly for monetary limits) so I am thinking of getting a miracast adapter. I was thinking of the Microsoft Wiresless Display Adapter as reviews tend to be quite positive. The downside is I know miracast doesn't always work flawlessly so I was hoping for your opinions/experiences.
Have any of you used your One M9 with a miracast adapter? Which one? How well did/does it work? Have any of you done it with Microsoft's in particular?
Thanks in advance for any help you might provide.

I use a cheap ebay miracast that cost me $14 USD. I use it on my Appradio 3 and Appradio Unchained Reloaded.
Only problem I have had is when the device tries to connect to a different wifi network while connected to the miracast device. It either disconnects or becomes very laggy.
The firmware is crap. Flashed beta firmware and now works flawlessly.
Here's the one I'm currently using. http://goo.gl/knb4Ui

I'm using a Roku stick, but the M9 will probably work with their other models. I like Miracast much more than DNA, because it's screen mirroring from phone to tv, not just streaming media.
