[Q] Link2sd and hTc Sense 4.0a Build 8 - HTC Pico (Explorer)

Sense 4.0a Build 8 by deferas is awesome but just only when thing makes me go crazy!
I install many apps and i've always used Link2sd for that purpose ,, in sense 4.0a if i use link2sd it makes apps force close ,, and it shows only 150 mb in Settings/Storage and it doesn't let me install More that 5-6 apps
so any help for using Link2sd or Helping me install apps without Letting the Phone storage go to less than 10mb
Thanks in advance.

u can use memory increasing script from shekhutanwar
link-http://d-h.st/0Kd
link2sd is always slow for me
basically it will move all apps and dalvik cache to sd ext...

Why are you using link2sd??
Memory increasing script is already included in derefas rom.. I'm using it right now and i still have 90 mb of internal memory with 40+ apps installed.. It'll always show 150 mb but when you install any apps it will automatically install on the sd-ext partition which you created before flashing the rom..
And yeah also download any cache cleaner app from playstore for better performance and more internal memory..

now i've figured it out ,, i Know that Deferas Rom has a Script for Moving Apps and Dalvik-cache but not library files!
And i Install apps which has Very Big Library Files like Chrome and Dolphin Beta
So I used Link2sd only to link Library Files and now apps are fine and my storage is always about 125mb free )

[Q] Problem with link2sd

I was using link2sd with a 1gb FAT32 partition ...
I linked all the apps ..
Everything was working fine ... But today when I restarted my phone my internal memory has gone down to 3 mb ...
Also link2sd is not getting the superuser permission ...
or may be there is a problem in superuser app ?
Can anyone tell wtf just happened with me ...
I've had this before. Usually leaving the phone alone for about 10 minutes will fix the problem. If internal memory is still low after that amount of time, Link2SD should at least function, and you can load it and press menu then tap "more" then "relink library files". That should free up a lot of space again.
Yes relink apps will work...it happens if you have a lot of apps installed...better go with scripts

I'm very confident that the above solutions will not work as i've tried all solution like these to make Link2SD work on two different hTC Explorers. I have used Link2SD on other devices and it works flawlessly, but for some reason on explorer i have always faced reduction in shown free internal memory when i go on installing apps.
This is not limited to Link2SD, but happens with any script that uses symlinks (like a2sd supported by jaggyRom etc). Plus a2sd is terribly unstable and will surely produce errors in the long run.
The only working solution will thus be: To use a script that mounts sd-ext to /data, thus eliminating the need for symlinks (like d2ext, int2ext, mount2sd etc). I've written a few tutorials which might help you:
Take a look here and here.
Remember, you hit thanks if i helped :good::good:
But d2ext uses symlinks.
No d2ext does not use symlinks. It mounts the sd-ext as data ,thus eliminating the need of symlinks

[Fixed] How to regain phone memory using LINK2SD.

So....I created an Ext2 partition on my sdcard & installed Link2sd.
I then successfully created a Link to an app residing in phone memory...but i can't find any space being freed in my phone memory.
Can someone pls put some light in this regard...
ROM - Paranoid Android By ByteCode.
Sent via XDA App.
Open Link2sd >filter internal stored apps > select all > Option > Action > Create Link > Done!
If ur ext is correctly mounted, u'll have ur internal space...
Hi KiraXce,
I created a link as u said but could see space being reduced In both phone memory & ext2 partition. Is this how Link2sd works ???
I don't think there's any problem with my Ext2 Partition.

ur ext space should decrease but not the internal...make sure that ur dalvic cache is linked(if not, do a re-link dalvic cache in option and reboot), it'll give more space...:good:
Internal memory doesn't show up as freed until you reboot. You can do a quick reboot directly from Link2SD. That's probably what your issue is.:good:
Not sure if the Reboot worked for me...but now i can see some space being freed in phone memory after linking an app.
Thanx KiraXce & Toy187 for the suggestions

I recommend dont play with your sd card...just download link to sd from google playstore and simply move apps to sd as well as you can clear dalvik cache, app cache, etc with freezing app and many more features and also supported 4.1 jb roms.. heres the link
Check out "Link2SD" - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD
And if you are bored with razodroid try cm10 by yajnab...

Also for me Link2SD is the best solution, I've a rooted phone with stock rom, I followed the guide and I choose to put 1 GB in the second partition for APP. Now after 1 year I've more than 500 addition MB of apps!

I am a big fan of cronmod's scripts. You can put the script in the init.d folder of the rom's .zip before you flash it, or you can flash one of cronmod's .zips immediately after flashing a ROM (before first boot).
I like them because they are fully automatic. You can install tons of apps, and they get put on your sd-ext without having to link them, or do anything to them. I used link2sd for a long time before I found cronmod's scripts. After a while I still ended up running out of space, and I would have to go back into link2sd to figure out what ELSI I could link.
With cronmod's scripts your internal folders ( like /data or /data/app depending on the script) get automatically mounted to to sd-ext. This effectively adds to your internal storage. I see it as more of a fix, while link2sd is more like a band-aid.

Hi, thankyou for the tips, yes link2sd will not give you infinite space, once you start to have a lot of apps, them continue to write some data (cache, etc.) on your internal memory and this will lead you to fill your internal memory. So in my opinion with a non rooted phone, simple move app to sd is like a band-aid while link2sd on rooted phone is like a powerfull band-aid.
About the script, it will move ALL and let you to install infinite apps? I've readed that these kind of script give you also some stability problem on some apps and also decrease speed of the phone while for now, with link2sd i've no problem at all, I moved also gapps.

Im using cronmod (int2ext+) and I haven't experienced any problems, I guess (haven't tested) they just released a script that will work with 4.2.1 The only app that ive seen with noticeable lag was titanium backup, but other than that its been great
Ive also used link2sd and that works extremely well also.

Obviously, not infinite, but on my ov I have about 180 mb for my data partition. Using the d2ext script with a 2 gb sd-ext partition means that I increase that by literally over 1000%. I have absolutely no stability problems with the scripts. Sometimes a particular rom won't boot with a particular script, but I've always been able to find at least one script that will play nice with any rom I've used.
I really liked link2sd when I started using it, but eventually running out of space again, and constantly having to link apps got old. The script will move ALL of your apps without you having to tell it what to do, and your apps will still "think" they are installed on the phone, so widgets will work fine.
thanks!!!!!
Thanks guys!!!
I m now using int2ext+ by cronmod ....works perfect!!!!
very stable and smooth...:good:

sense 5 rom and sd-ext behaviour

i am new as user in forum but an avid reader of many threads regarding PICO, firstly i am thanking all the developers here as only for their post am able to experiment with my excellent PICO.
here is my dissatisfactions: 1. sense 5 build 5 installed nicely but internal memory still showing 150mb. And with the installation of apps it is decreasing gradually. i manually have to transferred the apps to usb storage wherever applicable.
pertinent here to say that i have ported many sense roms and cm9 as well and my PICO ran nicely, i loved sense rom and currently staying with it.
i have gone through many threads and learned that internal memory will not decrease as i have made a sd-ext partition of 2 gb out of my 8 gb sd card. it was done through cwn recovery6 of nannou90. previously i had ported sense 4.0 and it was showing 2gb internal memory nicely.
in sense 5 when installing mount2sd it was sending the apps to sd but after restart it was hanging on boot time animation.
just tell me me what is happening and how i will see sd-ext size as internal memory as like as sense 4.0 rom?
however i had unlocked my pico as per the instructions shown in htc dev and facing no problem except this one as mentioned above.
In sense 5 data is in internal to get more performance, use fly script to move data to sd-ext
Or use diff sense Rom with cute prince overclock method
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e
will mount2sd work with sense 5 EX build 5
m2sd only used GB or CM or MIUI etc... bcuz its support only small size memory near 150mb ..
sense 5 EX has different script bcuz its default installation around 350mb . thts why sense 4.0 had mv2ext or a2ext or flyscript.
thts why we dont use m2sd in sense 4.0
