I was using link2sd with a 1gb FAT32 partition ...
I linked all the apps ..
Everything was working fine ... But today when I restarted my phone my internal memory has gone down to 3 mb ...
Also link2sd is not getting the superuser permission ...
or may be there is a problem in superuser app ?
Can anyone tell wtf just happened with me ...
I've had this before. Usually leaving the phone alone for about 10 minutes will fix the problem. If internal memory is still low after that amount of time, Link2SD should at least function, and you can load it and press menu then tap "more" then "relink library files". That should free up a lot of space again.
Yes relink apps will work...it happens if you have a lot of apps installed...better go with scripts

I'm very confident that the above solutions will not work as i've tried all solution like these to make Link2SD work on two different hTC Explorers. I have used Link2SD on other devices and it works flawlessly, but for some reason on explorer i have always faced reduction in shown free internal memory when i go on installing apps.
This is not limited to Link2SD, but happens with any script that uses symlinks (like a2sd supported by jaggyRom etc). Plus a2sd is terribly unstable and will surely produce errors in the long run.
The only working solution will thus be: To use a script that mounts sd-ext to /data, thus eliminating the need for symlinks (like d2ext, int2ext, mount2sd etc). I've written a few tutorials which might help you:
Take a look here and here.
Remember, you hit thanks if i helped :good::good:
But d2ext uses symlinks.
No d2ext does not use symlinks. It mounts the sd-ext as data ,thus eliminating the need of symlinks

How to expand the low internal memory without changing the default rom?
I'd like to keep the default rom, but would like to use the sd card as much as possible. Embedded move2sd app doesn't move sufficient apps. Also it's very good if we can move other things (Like messages or even partitions) to sd too.
I just checked http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924054 , but what if I root my device?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1932874
Use m2sd script ! Its very good ! But first u have to partition your sd card and make a ext partition either by recovery or minitool(windows). Also ext partition is not supported by stock rom/kernel so its better if u flash any custom rom/kernel.
Press thanks if helped

As I like to keep the stock rom/kernel and it doesn't support ext as you said, Could you suggest other options?
If u wanna keep your stock rom/kernel the best method is by partitioning sd card to a secondary fat32 partition.....then use link2sd( its free download from playstore)

link2sd will link your apps to sd, but if I remember correctly, it won't link your dalvik cache. And when you install a lot of apps, your dalvik cache would fill the entire internal memory, resulting in the low space error again.
If you really want to go with the stock kernel, you can get the kernel source from HTCDev, do the necessary work on it to get init.d working with sysinit exec method, compile the kernel, flash it, partition your sd with ext2/3/4 and then use mounts2sd to reverse mount /data/ to /sd-ext/, practically turning your ext partition to your internal memory.
hello guys I installed cm9 build 9 today after that I used recovery selected 1024 for ext and 0 swap after that remounted script on link2sd and I rebooted but I dont think it worked plz.see
Dude seriously http://forum.xda-developers.com/sitesearch.php?q=htc explorer internal memory at least try before creating a thread
been there, many times...
settings would give you the app info installed in internal memory, regardless it is linked to your sd-ext partition or simply residing in internal storage.
open link2sd, menu > storage info.... it shows graphically how much memory of what partition is used up. if under the sd-ext partition it says, "not mounted", then the script was not mounted properly.
you may want to re-do the process.
but, still you may consider what shortyoko has to say...(a bit of research is must, i spent 3 months on researchin )

i already spent 2 and am little tired so i though would do all steps and ask in general
anyway it does nt say not mounted and does link2sd does increase mem in the sys menu thats the storage and i can only see my mem at link2sd if thats the case i guess i did correct and also link2sd doesnt move all apps or does it?
The system partition remains the same. You can't extend it or something. Well, the very idea of increasing internal memory using is that link2sd uses the sd-ext partition to store all the app files, leaving just the app icon & a link to it's corresponding files in the sd-ext part..
Just press hold an app in link2sd > create link > select all 3 options (link apk, link data, link lib files) > then press ok / next (watever it says). If this is succesfull, you will get a msg saying, "app successfully linked to the second partition".
There you go !! All done.

Also for me Link2SD is the best solution, I've a rooted phone with stock rom, I followed the guide and I choose to put 1 GB in the second partition for APP. Now after 1 year I've more than 500 addition MB of apps!

I am a big fan of cronmod's scripts. You can put the script in the init.d folder of the rom's .zip before you flash it, or you can flash one of cronmod's .zips immediately after flashing a ROM (before first boot).
I like them because they are fully automatic. You can install tons of apps, and they get put on your sd-ext without having to link them, or do anything to them. I used link2sd for a long time before I found cronmod's scripts. After a while I still ended up running out of space, and I would have to go back into link2sd to figure out what ELSI I could link.
With cronmod's scripts your internal folders ( like /data or /data/app depending on the script) get automatically mounted to to sd-ext. This effectively adds to your internal storage. I see it as more of a fix, while link2sd is more like a band-aid.

Hi, thankyou for the tips, yes link2sd will not give you infinite space, once you start to have a lot of apps, them continue to write some data (cache, etc.) on your internal memory and this will lead you to fill your internal memory. So in my opinion with a non rooted phone, simple move app to sd is like a band-aid while link2sd on rooted phone is like a powerfull band-aid.
About the script, it will move ALL and let you to install infinite apps? I've readed that these kind of script give you also some stability problem on some apps and also decrease speed of the phone while for now, with link2sd i've no problem at all, I moved also gapps.

Im using cronmod (int2ext+) and I haven't experienced any problems, I guess (haven't tested) they just released a script that will work with 4.2.1 The only app that ive seen with noticeable lag was titanium backup, but other than that its been great
Ive also used link2sd and that works extremely well also.

Obviously, not infinite, but on my ov I have about 180 mb for my data partition. Using the d2ext script with a 2 gb sd-ext partition means that I increase that by literally over 1000%. I have absolutely no stability problems with the scripts. Sometimes a particular rom won't boot with a particular script, but I've always been able to find at least one script that will play nice with any rom I've used.
I really liked link2sd when I started using it, but eventually running out of space again, and constantly having to link apps got old. The script will move ALL of your apps without you having to tell it what to do, and your apps will still "think" they are installed on the phone, so widgets will work fine.
thanks!!!!!
Thanks guys!!!
I m now using int2ext+ by cronmod ....works perfect!!!!
very stable and smooth...:good:

Hey i just found the fix!
If you use Root Explorer, go to /system/app
You can see some memory info there just beside the "Mount r/w" button. Make sure the free space is more than what you are copying. Mine is 5 MB free, that causes a 6 MB file not to get copied. See if that helps. Free memory by deleting unused apps in the /app folder.

Link2SD is useful for user apps. It cannot increase /system partition memory. Only way i know is to remove unused system apps. You can ask the developers for additional help.

I have a strange link2sd problem... I created the partition and it has been mounted successfully. If I click 'create link' the operation is completed successfully. However after linking the app through link2sd I am left with LESS internal memory than before. I'm using the stock OS but have rooted the phone. Attached are the screenshots showing what happens
As you can see I had 20mb free at the start but after linking I have 14.2mb free.
However in the 2nd partition the memory use increased. So basically when I link something it used more internal memory AND more sd card partition 2 memory. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
It sucks having low memory : /
I have installed ONLY stuff I use. This includes aldiko, viber, whatsapp and other low memory using apps. Had to uninstall firefox and facebook even though I used them but didn't have the memory

Try partitioning again...maybe it will help..

It's probably app data (i.e. the data stored by apps, such as messages, game saves etc.) If you go install "Disk Usage" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.diskusage&feature=nav_result choose "[root required]", then "/data/app", it will show you which apps are storing the most data. Then go to those apps in settings and clear the data for those apps.
You might also want to consider installing a custom kernel (e.g. cranium build #2) and then installing "Mounts2SD" instead of Link2SD; it lets you move the app data to the SD card as well as the apps themselves.
Thanks for this reply!
Can you point me to the latest stable rom I should install? Everytime i think about installing a custom kernel i get scared by too much information

The decent custom ROMs don't include scripts for putting apps on SD card, you have to install them yourself. But having said that, I have been using CM10 build #6 for a few weeks now, with Mounts2SD installed (from Play Store app) without any major problems. (Only real bug I've experienced is being unable to toggle WiFi, the solution to which is leaving it on always if you're going to need it; there is also a bug where voices can be distorted in calls, but that only happens if you have 3G enabled while in calls I believe, and I rarely have 3G enabled, so I haven't encountered that issue).
If either of those bugs are big issues for you, I'm afraid I don't think there are any custom ROMs based on 4.0+ without those bugs, so you'd probably have to stay on stock...
Is it possible that you could have mounted the Primary partition as the secondary? :silly:
Or maybe you're using Link2SD with Mounts2SD script already present? :supersilly:

I don't think so, as the image shows the mounted partition being 650mb, while my sd card is 16gb and default memory space is only 150mb.
I'm using the stock rom so its unlikely that Mount2sd script would be present, no?

Oh. Didn't read that. Yup, there would probably be no script if you're using stock ROM.

As far as I remember, Link2SD does not move 'data' files to SDcard. They go to the internal memory. Reboot your phone and then see if it makes a difference. Also clear the cache and dalvik-cache.
