This guide assumes that you are on a stock Pantech Flex P8010 running either ICS (v4.0.4). or the updated JB (v4.1.2) Please note that rooting a ICS phone has been known to cause issues when trying to run the over the air update. If you have already rooted and are looking for a way to update to JellyBean please skip to the section on updating, if this isn't you keep reading.
So at this point you have decided to continue. You shouldn't run into any issues if you follow the directions and you shouldn't mess your phone up even if root doesn't take. However, in the spirit of covering ones back side....
I am not responsible for anything that goes wrong.
Jelly Bean 4.1.2 or ICS 4.0.4
This method was found by LuneBear and has not been tested by myself so I cannot personally verify its effectiveness. I did check and it seems to work with both ICS and JB but your mileage may vary. You will need to download SRSroot and install it on a Windows machine.
SRS ROOT
SRS Homepage
Make sure that USB debugging is enabled on your phone. Connect your phone via USB and run the program. Select the button for all root methods. Then you will need to select the Legolas exploit. Once everything is done (may take some time) just reboot the phone and you should be good to go.
Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 ONLY
Windows Option
This method has been tried on a number of Windows versions and some work some don't so your mileage may very. This method uses Bin4ry's Root method and was orgnially discovered by aaki_rocker and is WAY LESS COMPLICATED. However please note that some users have had issues using this method with Bin4ry's latest version of the root script. It is recommended that you download an older version if you run into any issues or the root doesn't take.
First lets get some drivers on your Windows box. To do this you will need to download the Pantech PC Suite and install it.
http://c724062.r62.cf2.rackcdn.com/PantechPCSuite_1.1.1.3437.exe
Next you will need to download and extract Bin4ry's root script.
http://ul.to/z7krermj
Once you have these two files you will need to plug your phone into the PC via USB and enable the USB type as Data Mode.
Next run the Bin4ry's script and follow the directions when in doubt about what to choose select the simplest option in all cases.
If everything goes well you will have a nicely rooted phone.
Linux Option
This is not a point and click root and is not for the faint of heart. This method of rooting is based off of Bin4ry's root for ICS/JB. Changes have been made to the srcipt to allow it to work with the Flex please follow the steps below and you will have root in just a few minutes. It will probably take you longer to download the files you need than to actually root the phone.
This method has been performed successfully using Ubuntu 12.10 64bit it may work with other versions of linux but it will not work with Windows due to the driver issues and the fact that I didn't alter the windows batch file, in fact I removed any windows related files from Bin4ry's original package.
First you will need to set up the linux machine if you don't already have it. This can be done in one of a few ways you can run a live copy using a Live CD/USB boot (this will not install linux on your computer unless you tell it to) or you can install it in the standard manner or using WUBI, the third option us setting up linux in a virtual machine. If you don't know how to do this google it, there is a wealth of information out there on these subjects and probably some you can even understand without a degree in astro-physics.
Second you will need to set your phone up so that USB debug mode is turned on [settings>developer options]. Make sure you phone isnt plugged into the USB or it won't let you change the setting.
Now plug your phone into to the (linux) computer with the USB. Next you will need to set the USB computer connection type to Media Device(MTP)
In order for the computer to communicate with the phone we will need to install Android Debug Bridge (ADB) and create a couple of files.
These files will basically trick the computer into thinking it has actual drivers for the phone.
Open a terminal window, and enter the following (this will install ADB):
sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb
Once this is done enter the following
sudo gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/70-android.rules
Gedit will open at this point copy the the following into it and then click save and close the window.
SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="10a9:6055", MODE="0666"
In the terminal window enter this (yeah I know it looks the same just go with it)
sudo gedit /lib/udev/rules.d/70-android.rules
After the window opens paste the same line of code into the file that you did in the previous files, save and close.
Test your connection by issuing the following command in the terminal window:
adb devices
Should see something similar to:
OSCAR01111112010204 device
Your adb is now recognizing your phone and you can now move on to the next step if you are not getting this don't even bother moving to the next step it wont work. If you don't see this check your settings and go again.
Ok so you are now ready to actually root the phone. The first thing your going to need to do is download my modified Bin4ry script. See the attached file.
After you have it downloaded you will need to extract it you can do this by opening the file manager (click on the home folder icon) and going to download. Find the file called Root_Flex.zip. Right click on it and select EXTRACT HERE. After its done extracting you should see a directory called Root_Flex. In a terminal windows enter the following:
cd Downloads/Root_Flex
Your prompt should now look something like
[email protected]_name~/Downloads/Root_Flex$
From here just enter the command:
bash RunMeFlex.sh
At this point you should see a bunch of junk come up and a menu asking which way you want to try to root. Type 1 and press enter. It will give you 3 errors, ignore them. It should copy a bunch of files and ask you to press restore on your phone, do it. It should ask you to press Enter to reboot the phone, do so and the phone will reboot. It should be waiting on you to press enter again dont press enter until the phone is completely rebooted and for good measure give it an extra few seconds. The script should finish and the phone will reboot again this time you should see a little box with an update appear on the phone. At this point you should be rooted. If not try the script again.
I hope this helps out a lot of folks out there. Let me know if I need to change anything in this How to or if I made any mistakes along the way.
Updating If you're already rooted
So you rooted your phone and now you want JellyBean but when you run the update you get the dead droid image and the update fails OR you live in an area that isn't covered by AT&T and you want the update, what do you do? Well thanks to some hard work by Attn1 we have a solution and its pretty simple. First off you will need to have CWM running on the phone. Now there are a few ways to go about this but the method I used was here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2133857
You only need to go as far as getting CWM up an running on the phone you do not need to install it as the the update by Attn1 will take care of a full install of a better version. You will need to have a copy of Fastboot.exe and some img files. Below is a rar file that has all the necessary files to get CWM running (not installed) on the phone using windows (sorry I don't have the linux files for this one). Just unpack them into a convienent folder somewhere and follow the instructions on the link above.
http://tinyurl.com/oa2p48f
I recommend using the boot_external.img but if you do not have an external SD card and only have the internal storage just use boot_internal.img instead. This method relys on you being able to get into fast boot. If you do not have access to fastboot for what ever reason I suggest you jump ahead in the thread and read Attn1 methods for installing CWM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2008888&page=44
Next get the update files from this link (second post)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2008888&page=47
Once you have all the files downloaded and copied everything to the appropriate SD cards on your phone your ready to go. If you don't know how to do this don't even think about anything else till you learn this. After this is all done follow the directions below (copied from Attn1's post)
Procedure if you ARE NOT running baseband JYUS06032013 (ICS Basebands) :
boot ICS CWM
flash FLEX-JB-JYUS06032013-FIRMWARE.zip from CWM
format system in CWM (will NOT wipe data, but makes sure old rom does not flash back stock recovery)
restart start recovery/adb reboot recovery (JB CWM is installed - do not try to fastboot boot ICS CWM)
flash FLEX-JB-JYUS06032013-ROM.zip from CWM.
reboot
Procedure if you ARE running baseband JYUS06032013 (JB Baseband) :
get root (Instructions HERE - use GANDALF)
install CWM (Instructions HERE)
flash FLEX-JB-JYUS06032013-FIRMWARE.zip from CWM
format system in CWM (will NOT wipe data, but makes sure old rom does not flash back stock recovery)
reboot to CWM
flash FLEX-JB-JYUS06032013-ROM.zip from CWM.
reboot
This ROM is Pantech stock with no mods other than CWM installation protection and all stock permissions and symlinks carefully maintained and consistent with the product of a successful OTA.
The firmware is also stock, with the exception of the open aboot allowing fastboot boot <bootimage>, and installation of JB CWM with nothing else added or changed. It runs well with nothing broken. You MUST be on JB firmware (below) to run it properly.
You can let the new CWM root it if you like when you exit - it will prompt you. It will also prompt you to disable CWM on reboot make sure this gets disabled or the phone will keep booting to CWM rather than the ROM.
Downloads:

md5: 17c0e611ab6dfbca230571c1e40f3d14 FLEX-JB-JYUS06032013-ROM.zip
Make sure you check the md5sum on the files before you flash them if there wrong download them again this is vital.
If you need a program to check md5sums copy this .exe file to your c:\windows\system\ and run it from the command line.

Acutally this assumes you are on a completely fresh install and did not have adb installed through the platform tools if that is the case everything I typed up will work. However you are correct too. Let me know if you think I should go ahead and rework the stuff to be a little more universal if so please PM me an update of the commands.
your right my apologies but one thing i noticed that i would like to say idk if its my experiance or universal after successfully rooting the flex the lockscreen fails to resize itself leaving a black space where the onscreen dock is usualy located no big issue though and the rooting was easy and painless once adb was set up correctly 100000+ points thanks so much
Good job guys. Respect! I have a Pantech Flex, which is an awesome device with the same specs (things that matter to me) as S3, but without big name. I like Pantech Flex because it's size is much better for me than.
The only thing now is to create a ROM! Is it difficult to make a pure Android ROM? Nothing additional, just a pure Android like in Nexus?
Again, thank you guys for your dedication! I'll definitely donate as soon as I have Jelly Bean loaded on my Pantech Flex!
Thanks, this worked great. I am gonna start on a ROM. Hope I don't get bricked.

lol right now we need knowledge donations unfourtunatly we cannot start working on roms till we have a custom recovery ported over either team win or clockworks mod recovery this will take a little bit of time and knowledge and to answer your question about the stock nexus rom your talking along the terms of a cynaogen mod port? or akop port looking into it i would say untill we have mapped the bootloader we wouldnt know how diffcult it would be because the simlinks maybe difcult for a phone that has not yet caught fire in the dev world
i wish i had the time to do a recovery myself and get cwm working but with my family and my fulltime job i barely get any time. Im going to spend all my time on this amazing little phone to do what i can. props to the root method it worked flawlessly!!!

Awesome I'm glad im getting some good feed back on the root. I wasnt sure if I did the rightup correctly and im glad its working out for everyone.
If I get some time I will start looking into a custom CWM and all that junk I have a contact that should be a pretty good help in this just have to find the time to do it.
Yeah after coming from the LG Nitro HD I was surprised at how easy this was to root.
If you want to get together on gtalk we can work on this together. Right now I'm in the process of getting a ROM dump so we can recover our phones from stock images if we happen to mess them up, which I'm sure we will, but that's the best part! Lol.
I can smell CM9 and CM10 calling to this phone!!!

[ROOT GUIDE] How to root the FeiTeng mini N9300/Spreadtrum 6820 !!!
Hi All,
A lot of people out there buy Chinese phones for a good amount of reasons. For one they are cheap and
usually easy to work with. But there comes a time when that isn't enough resulting in many people looking
for ways to hack or the Android term "root" there phone to get the most out of it.Unfortunately they come
across many problems such as No brand name,Unknown brand name,or just no info about it whatsoever.
That is why i have created this guide on rooting the N9300
DISCLAIMER!! This method generally will work with any N9300 android phone i just might take
a few trys and will not harm it.HOWEVER if you do brick your phone i am not responsible.(See pics for details)
WARNING!!! Rooting a device will void ANY warranty you may have.
Phone Specs
Brand: FeiTeng,Spreadtrum,
Device: Hsdroid
Model: N9300

Display: 3.5 inch Capacitive screen
RAM: 256MB
ROM: 256MB
How to Root:
Lets begin with the actual rooting process
1. Download Z4Root.v1.3.0 and install it on device memory/internal memory (Don't install it on SD Card!!!) and don't open it after installing
2. Go to Setting -> Applications -> Development -> then enable USB debugging
3. Open & run Z4Root
4. Click Temporary Root option, wait till its done successfully and open it again
5. After doing the Temporary Root with no problems,Choose the Permanent Root option
6. Wait and see till it's done
7. After them Permanent Root has done, your device will reboot itself
8. After reboot has done, you will find Superuser has installed on your device
9. It's really easy & safe. But if it not successful & Superuser is not installed, try restarting your device and try from the first step
10. Please remember, this method is for the >>>> Mini <<<< N9300

There is 2 colors on N9300 (Black and White)
I found the firmware for black. Click here for Download
IF you use in on white it wont work. What color do you have?
My advice is to just root it. It wont brick it and then tell me if you are
successful or not. If not i will think of another way.
If I take the 4.3 update is the process to root it the same as it was on 4.2 or will we have to wait for a new way to root? I used this process previously and it worked for each update:
https://github.com/linux-shield/shield-root
Though now that there is a mapping utility I am not sure I will need to root it anymore... Depends on how good the mapping utility is.
This is not going to work unfortunately. I need to update the rooting procedure but am not really aware of how this is done on 4.3 (if anyone has pointers by the way) and the update arrived sooner than I thought. Will try to get that done quickly, please be patient in the meantime!
Great, thanks for the update. I will be sure to not even try then

Can you explain more what you mean. I know how to flash CWM but what do you mean "root that way"?
First, grab the Shield CWM image available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390389 (LINK DEAD: MIRROR: http://cl.ly/2o3n3f0C0G2S)
Copy it to your Minimal ADB & Fastboot folder.
Then, boot to it via Fastboot. In other words, open a cmd window in the Minimal ADB & Fastboot folder and type:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot boot recovery.img
Your device should reboot into CWM.
Then, grab the latest SU from here: http://download.chainfire.eu/351/
Copy the SU zip to an SD card. Choose "install ZIP from external SD" in CWM. Choose the SU zip. Let it finish, reboot and you're done!
Way too much damn work if you ask me, but made signficiantly easier thanks to the community. This was cobbled together from the various posts on the subject in xda developers. Thanks guys!
thank you shinratdr, that works perfectly.
Not sure what I did wrong here (have not seen this before myself) I installed the update, and everything seemed to work find. When I finally needed to use root it would not work, so i downloaded the root zip flashed that nothing changed.
From a terminal emulator on my shield when I enter su. I get no errors, and root does not work.
From the supercd /system/binuser app I get that su is not installed and it can't be installed.
From adb shell after entering su the prompt changes to # but noting that needs root works.
su is installed in /system/xbin and has the following permissions -rwsr-sr-x.
I am not sure what to do next.
Update
For now I am just restoring my back up of update59.

Never really rooted something before and not really looking forward to it due to loss of warranty but I really want to use the PS3 controller
Allright, it was a pain in the *ss but my rooting method should now support 4.3:
https://github.com/linux-shield/shield-root
I have tested it on one device only so far, so unless you are a brave soul ready to take some (moderate) risk, please wait until other users report success here.
Google really tightened the security with 4.3 by introducing SELinux. It definitely makes your device safer and a side-effect of this is that root needs to be rethought. The update script provided by SuperSU told me what to do, but unfortunately my small Linux image lacked a few tools necessary for this, so I had to build static ARM binaries of these.
Of course by rooting your device you are undoing some of that well-thought security and making it more vulnerable to attacks, but you already know that. With the addition of the device mapper in OTA 63, you might want to reconsider if that was your only reason for rooting.
Enjoy and please report on your success or failure!

After upgrading, you should be able to fastboot flash CWM for SHIELD, and root that way.

I can confirm that while you need to flash the stock recovery image you provided to update, after updating, I had no problem reflashing your CWM image in fastboot and then flashing SuperSU 1.65
Just posting as a follow up to my earlier post here
I had to download the superuser.zip from this Superuser page on the play store.

I hope you were able to find it. If not, I located the copy I left on my computer. Enjoy, this strategy seems to work fine with the latest update for a "quick" re-root.

[GUIDE AND STEPS] HOW TO DUALBOOT 2 OR MORE ROMS USING DUALBOOTPATCHER APP
Howdy All!!!
Today, I'll be guiding you how to Dual Boot 2 ROM from S5 G900H device. This guide can also work for other Phone and Models as well, as long as it is been supported by DualBootPatcherAndroid app.
I'm not the creator of the DualBootPatcherAndroid app, I'm just the user that decided to share a guide and steps for using the DualBootPatcherAndroid app.
With this, we don't need to flash our current ROM away from our devices to try a new ROM. We just test any ROM by Dual Booting it and leave our Daily ROM Untouched. Also, there's NO LIMIT to the number of ROM you want to install on your Device, as long as there's Available Space on your Device or Micro Sd Card. And, any ROM that you Dual Boot that you don't want for one reason or the other, you can easily Delete it and it won't affect you Primary ROM which should be your Daily use ROM. You just Delete the ROM then you good to go with your Daily ROM.
DUALBOOTPATCHER NOW SUPPORT ODIN FILES AS WELL
I pay my Respect by giving Credit to the following:
@chenxiaolong, (for creating DualBootPatcherAndroid app) Here's his thread link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447534 to thank him and donate to him if you want to donate.

@jonathanmohamed, (for his AWESOMATIC Work and Effort creating AJ'S ROM NOTE7 PORT) Here's his thread link http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...development-exynos/g900h-aj-s-n7-rom-t3487815 to thank him and donate to him if you want to donate.
I'm also thanking all other Members and Developers for given Support one way to the other to the above Mentioned OP's.
There's no way you gonna brick you device for following this Guide. You only put your device in DANGER if you Flash any ROM that's not Recommended for you device and if you include any other steps apart from my complete step... Then you have YOURSELF to BLAME!!!
First is to get everything that is needed, best to get everything ready and setup.
1> You need to be on the Primary ROM that you want to be using, that will be the ROM you using daily. My is AJ'S ROM NOTE7 PORT at the moment of creating this Guide and Steps.
2> You need to download the other ROM that you want to Dual Boot with. My is WANTED ROM as at now.
3> You need to download the DualBootPatcher app from the link https://dbp.noobdev.io/
4> You need to install the DualBootPatcherAndroid app on your Primary ROM.
5> After installation of the DualBootPatcherAndroid app, open it and it will ask you to set kernel and reboot, do as it instructed you to do... But, if it did not ask you to reboot your device that fine but if it said you should reboot then don't be a hero, just reboot.
6> Open the DualBootPatcherAndroid again if you reboot your phone, click on ROM and you see just your Primary ROM with a tick. Press the 3 dash on the top left hand of the phone.
7> Click on Patch Zip File, and click on the plus(?) button at the bottom of the right side of the phone.
8> Navigate to where the Second ROM is that you want to Dual Boot, and click on it, something will pop up with info about your device, leave that and click on the Partition Configuration and you will see list of where to install the ROM. You can choose Data Slot or Extsd Slot. Let me explain :
Data Slot: If you have space size you can choose Data Slot as you install more apps your space size will be reducing and you might end up with "Insufficient Space" message.
Extsd Slot: if you choose that then the ROM will be install in your ExtSdCard but the Data Files will be install in the phone memory but the System Files will be in the Memory Card.
9> After choosing your choice for installing the ROM, you now have to choose ID for the ROM, it's a name you want to call it. Now mind you, if you want to install any other thing ZIP files from recovery to this ROM, you MUST name it the same name and follow the process starting from number 6. If your satisfy with the ROM name you choose, then click "Continue". Then choose where you want to save the new ROM, and the click save.
10> Now reboot to recovery and navigate to where you save the new ROM and flash it as normal. You need not worry cause it will be installed in the new name that you named it.
11> After installation, reboot as normal, it will take longer than 10 to 15 minutes to show the Setup Screen but don't worrying it doing it's thing in the background. To know you on track, when it's restarting and you see the light at the very top left side of the phone ON,* then you know you on track, just leave it and soon you be greeted with the Setup screen of the ROM.
12> From the Setup Screen you definitely should know what to do.
13> When you've COMPLETED the Setup, the next thing to do is to install the DualBootPatcherAndroid app, that is what you be using to Switch ROMS.
14> To Switch ROMS:
I> Open the DualBootPatcherAndroid app
II> Press the 3 dash on the top left hand of the phone
III> Click on ROMS (for the first time it will ask to Set Kernel, go ahead and do it)
IV> Click on the ROM you want to Switch to (the one with a tick is the one it will always boot up whenever your device restart)
V> Reboot the device.
VI> Once Reboot, you be on the selected ROM.
Go ahead and Explore the DualBootPatcherAndroid app. But whatever you do. DO NOT MESS WITH YOUR PRIMARY ROM UNLESS YOU UNDERSTAND AND KNOW WHAT YOU DOING.
That's ALL there's to it. I hope this Guide been Helpful and easy to Understand. I Might FLASH my Phone from Scratch to create a Video Guide if I happen to find myself something to record with.

Kindly follow the Guide and Steps. Instruction is not to add anything. Nothing will conflict with anything cause the DualBootPatcherAndroid app will sort it out.
Once again people, just follow the Guide and Steps as it is... Is that too hard to understand

@yash92duster,
I'm glad to be able to support one way or the other, that's why we ALL here to give support, to get the best among the best for our devices world wide:good:
As for the question you asked, I can't tell now cause I've 3 ROMS running on my device... WANTED ROM 6.3, AJ'S ROM 2.2, and CM-13.0.
What I'll do later today is to wipe everything and start from scratch and give the information details you asked for and be able to tell you.
Hey everyone, quick post here, may edit later. I made a stock debloated, deknoxed, degoogled (minus play store/play services which can be disabled) ROM for the Galaxy Tab E 8.0 tablet, there's also a few build.prop tweaks for better performance but it's mostly all stock. ALL the bloatware has been removed. This ROM is still odexed for better speed and it does NOT come with root, though I would recommend rooting it with Magisk if you plan to use root apps. Let me know if there's any bugs, I apologize in advance as this is my first public ROM release. You need TWRP installed to flash this. (P.S. sorry for no proper links but the forum doesn't let me use URLs in message due to not enough posts, there's no viruses or spam here, feel free to check yourself mods.
DISCLAIMER: YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA ON YOUR TABLET AFTER INSTALLING THIS ROM! MAKE BACKUPS OF YOUR FILES BEFORE INSTALLING!

2. With your tablet off, boot to download mode by holding HOME+VOLUME DOWN+POWER then pressing VOLUME UP until it says downloading
3. Click AP button in ODIN and pick the TWRP recovery .tar file then click start
4. After flashing, immediately hold VOLUME UP+HOME+POWER so the tablet will boot straight into recovery
5. Go to WIPE then pick advanced wipe and wipe ALL partitions except for USB/External storage
6. Go to Advanced > ADB sideload and swipe to enable it
7. On your PC with ADB installed, open a command prompt in the location where your ROM file is downloaded and run command
Code:
adb sideload EHXZ-Tab-8-Stock-Debloated-Degoogled-Deknoxed-v1.zip
8. When you see AROMA menu on the tablet, follow the steps on your tablet to install the ROM.
9.. (Optional) Uncheck the reboot box in the installation success screen and go back to to ADB sideload option, then flash Magisk/SuperSU or anything else you'd like on your tablet.
10. Tap reboot in TWRP, it will give a message about no OS installed, ignore this and reboot anyway. First boot will take a while, be patient and just leave the tablet alone, preferably plugged into power.

I know this is a zombie thread but this is the latest T377T ROM I could find. Just installed it today and seems to work great, so thanks for sharing. Haven't yet tested my TMobile features (don't have an active SIM at the moment).
