SOLVED!
My device is completely stock, I only rooted the skyrocket.
I really wanted to have the fancy rotation animation for whenever you change the orientation of the phone. To do that, the instructions were to replace two (.so) files in
/system/lib
with two provided from the OP in the thread. When I used ES File Explorer to replace the files, right when I pasted the files the device froze. Naturally I tried soft rebooting and that worked fine. What didn't work fine was trying to get my device to boot back up...
When I press the power button to turn the device on, the first splash screen with the non-glowing Samsung logo showed up normally. My phone then gets stuck on the glowing Samsung logo. It never reaches the rethink possible At&t boot animation. So I thought, a factory reset should do the trick.
I went into the recovery menu and factory reset the phone/ deleted all user data. I tried booting the phone again and it still gets stuck at the glowing Samsung logo.
Help? Do I need to send the device in? Am I covered by the warranty? (I bought it in early December 2011)
Do you have CWM recovery or can you access download mode?

Haha, as always.
That post you linked does not have a ODIN download link. Is there a specific version of ODIN I have to use or is any version fine for Skyrocket?
You can find the Odin version you need in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19223405

If you have the blue recovery it sounds like your running ICS... If its distorted, sounds like you need to update your Bootloaders from froyo to Gingerbread bootloaders.. You can do a simple search and find a thread to do this with Odin or Heimdell..
As for your issue... You just need to flash the ICS kernel with Heimdell found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629079 - Just put your phone into download mode, open the executable ICS jar file and make sure it says connected and then click flash.. let it do its thing and it should boot just fine.
After I flashed it in download mode the device boots into cwm fine but when I do a normal boot the screen goes black.should I just reflash a rom

Oh..I see. What you're talking about are the rainbows effects.
You have to flash a GB boot loader.
See the op of cm9 or flash my whole uclb3 firmware and then flash again with the boot loader box checked. see the op for details

Ok, so I doctored up the existing tar from the i577 to make it smaller and more compatiable. My goal is to get users to ICS easily and with as little issues as possible like the soft key bork. So, I created a 1-Click.
Whats included:
Stock i577 ICS boot.img and system.img.ext4
Instruction:
Download Blaze_Ics.zip to your desktop
Extract zip and start the exe
Plug phone into PC and reboot to download mode
Once the 1-click recognizes your device, click the start button and wait.
Enjoy!
Don't forget to hit the thanks and/or donate!
Thanks to vivd and the rest of the guys that discovered this!
Download v1 here:
http://www.codedgraphx.info/tka/blaze/Blaze_ICS.zip
If you have issues like the soft key bork, then reflash with my 1-click Qucik Recover and then flash Blaze_ICS starter 1-click.
If you have issues with the soft keys, then perform the dialer trick to update TouchKey Firware update.

I'm getting a small vibrate alternating between 15 and 45 sec intervals as well on the att screen.
I do notice our CWM is still there after the flash, ty for that too!
Mine took roughly ten minutes using this

Do not flash any kernels yet. The current ones out are GB based. Our great devs will have an ICS kernel soon. You need to flash superuser http://dl.dropbox.com/u/109143594/Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip after you boot ICS first. This will give you root.

try jt's kernel kernel in cwm before you flash jb - try once or twice..just for s/g
OK, question I pulled up the log from cwm a few times and it kept saying something something about mtd which I know is a partition arrangement it is possible that it's just not re writing positions correctly? If so I probably need to learn how to check md5 checksum

Thanks, I followed the guide on this page teamandroid. com/2013/02/17/update-att-samsung-infuse-4g-sgh-i997-android-422-carbonrom-jelly-bean-custom-rom/2/ (can't post links. Yet ) that's how it got bricked. I've been finally able to go into download mode and Odin sees it on my pc but it reboots after 10 seconds or so. any idea about this?
Okay its gonna sound dumb but give your phone some time to charge. Next look in the infuse xda thread and get the heimdall one click back remedy .... For some reason Odin is great but the heimdall is more stable. Go to download mode and just flash back to stock.
Look for qkster thread for the heimdall and instruction.
Good info on getting to 4.2 or three is go to scott.harts thread and read the op for the proper instructions on working up because u have to go to rooted froyo the flash to GB then flash to ICS then finally to the jellybean ... I know there are short cuts but u can end up with headaches I prolly seen them all
PS. Make sure u turn off all antivirus software on PC it can screw up flashing process

Thanks for your replies. I'll try a few options and let you know how it goes. And the rebooting process stops when I takeout the usb cable
