Hello all. I've seen a few similar cases, but I still don't know how to go about it. I bricked my cousin's Infuse 4G when I tried upgrading to 4.2.2 using rootbox rom. Now its stuck at samsung logo. CANT enter recovery or download mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
List the steps you used to try and upgrade and will be easier to help fix the issue.

Thanks, I followed the guide on this page teamandroid. com/2013/02/17/update-att-samsung-infuse-4g-sgh-i997-android-422-carbonrom-jelly-bean-custom-rom/2/ (can't post links. Yet ) that's how it got bricked. I've been finally able to go into download mode and Odin sees it on my pc but it reboots after 10 seconds or so. any idea about this?
Okay its gonna sound dumb but give your phone some time to charge. Next look in the infuse xda thread and get the heimdall one click back remedy .... For some reason Odin is great but the heimdall is more stable. Go to download mode and just flash back to stock.
Look for qkster thread for the heimdall and instruction.
Good info on getting to 4.2 or three is go to scott.harts thread and read the op for the proper instructions on working up because u have to go to rooted froyo the flash to GB then flash to ICS then finally to the jellybean ... I know there are short cuts but u can end up with headaches I prolly seen them all
PS. Make sure u turn off all antivirus software on PC it can screw up flashing process

Oh. Will do. Don't know if its ok but when I connect device to charger it doesn't show the battery bar like it normally does, it shows a loading symbol. Hopefully its still charging. And it keeps restarting every 5 seconds

Thanks for your replies. I'll try a few options and let you know how it goes. I think it's the battery cus I could turn it on without connecting it to power and it doesn't turn on by itself when I insert the battery. But now I cant turn it on. And the rebooting process stops when I takeout the usb cable
Okay, decided nit to leave this thread hanging (irrelevant I know). I got a fully charged battery and was able to flash desired custom rom to device and now running smooth on 4.2.2 rootbox rom. thanks xda
Cool glad to hear your running.

Well me being the idiotic adventurous person. I tried to CWM my phone to ICBINB, and so everything went through ya know. then I rebooted. it got stuck once again. Now it won't go into dl mode or recovery. when i plug the usb it goes straight to the sign with the battery, but even that got stuck. so i tried adb reboot download and the device isn''t found. So did I like screw myself over? the only way for me to get to the Samsung GalaxyS 4G Screen is without the usb. So anyhelp on how i can fix this.
Did you try getting into recovery i.e.,hold volume up + volume down + power until recovery comes up. If you made any backups and you can get into recovery sometimes you can reboot a saved backup.

Also to get into DL mode hold volume up + volume down and while holding plug USB into your phone keep holding volume buttons till giant triangle appears
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
Even if the chargin battery comes up keep holding the volume buttons? cause the battery you know how it's suppose to charge with the green. Mines stuck it has the loading circle and the battery picture is blank. so it's like stuck there, should i just keep holding those buttons? and i've tried alot of methods already so far none have worked. I really don't want to have to buy another phone.
Pull the battery and then try getting it into download mode

Had the same.problem.as you. Gingerbread bootloaders.
open odin on your pc and connect the usb to your phone. Pull the battery and hold volume down + power button and put battery in as your holding those two

tried that. everytime i plug the phone into the computer. it brings me to this god awful frozen charging battery thing that isn't even green so its like bricked i think. but that cant be because it still turns on

Actually no. I tried using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1157593 and I literally did everything precisely, then i rebooted. then i came across this horrible problem. So I don't really know if it was GB. but what rom are you using?
I figured i'll just cut my losses and stick to KC1 Stock +Root Froyo 2.2.1
Try what Ricky said that's what meant pull battery hold volume buttons plug in USB then put battery back in. You're soft bricked you can get out of this. This is why you have to read read read. Always start where it says READ THIS FIRST when your joining a new forum. Do yourself a favor and check out the Bible in this forum its packed with everything you need. Hahaha Ricky was right I was able to get into ODIN, and now I'm gonna flash back to KC1 . If I'm going to flash a ROM i'm doing it ODIN style. I'm a failure at CWM.
Right now I'm running dsexton's ICBINB rom. I was running krylon's Black Ice

AND STEELAIN WHAT!? HOW ARE YOU USING THAT!?!?!
I TRIED DOING IT AND I FAILED. omg, fml. what did you do? Like Exact steps i need to know what I did wrong.
Flash using the noobs guide to odin found in the bible thread guide section, but instead of downloading kb5 from that thread, grab the stock deodexed kc1 from the odin rom section of the bible. Get into download mode by pulling out your battery, pressing both volume buttons and plugging in the usb cord.
I kept telling you to read the bible thread and the directions in each thread! But this is a soft brick and you can fix it, so it will be ok. Search for the bible thread! SEARCH!! Know what you are doing before you make a change. Just odin for now and get that running. I can give you very specific directions in a bit on how to flash a rom. Let us know how it goes
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
Dont' worry i already flashed it back to the rom you suggested (KC1 Deodexed) what im fine with ODIN, i know how to use it. what im struggling on is the ICBINB Final ROM that Team Acid released. I've tried it twice to get installed and ive failed each time. because it won't get passed the dang splash screen where it says Samsung GalaxyS 4G, and you cant use odin with it. it has to be CWM i believe
Are you on red cmw? Chances are your not so you have to check your mounts on recovery very important probably causing your brick

i will try a different USB and PORT
(wow my anxiety is through the roof)
I used it for the first time the other day and it went great, I actually used it 3 times in the same day...long story. I've heard about the port thing but it never did anything different for me. If you installed Odin correctly and It has the stock file for your phone than it should work.

You have to extract the stock file (probably called something else) when you open Odin I believe you have to click pit than select th file that you extracted.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
When you open the Odin folder you should see 2 things, the Odin program in which youd launch and the stock file for your phone, the stock file needs to be extracted or unzipped (not sure which is the correct term) run Odin, plug phone in, select file from pit tab, stick start.

Ever have any luck?
I recently bought an extended battery for my skyrocket. I used it for a few days and one night while on the charger it apparently didn't charge. It was only at 70%. Then I noticed it would drop charge while plugged in and using it. The charge icon would stay on but it would consistently drop in percentage. So I switched back to the factory battery thinking that was the problem. Nope. The phone will charge as long as I'm not using it. I also can't get my phone to connect to the computer. Tried 3 different computers and 2 different cables (1 being the factory cable).
Another issue is that I have a custom ROM installed and if I'm going to turn this in for warranty how do I get it back to stock if I can't do it through Odin?
Thanks for the help.

I would suggest cleaning the contacts on the battery and phone and try a can of air duster to blow out the usb ports u are trying to use including the phones usb. If all else fails read the stickies in the development section to go back to stock.
P.S. im not sure if u can go back to stock without ODIN. But just read the stickies cuz i could be wrong

I'm not sure if its possible but on my i777 I was able to use the mobile Odin app to flash the stock firmware. Possibly something a dev could come up in cwm since failing USB ports are becoming more and more common. A cwm flashable rom maybe and a separate stock kernal to flash after.

Hello, I'm having problem starting my infuse, even with the battery fully charged I cannot start the phone.
The behavior is like this:
1. With the phone unplugged when I try to turn it nothing happen during the first seconds and after arround 8 seconds (keeping the on button pressed). The waiting symbol appears and then the something like an empty battery appears and then turns off again.
2. With the phone plugged I wait until the battery charging image appear, then there I press the on button and the samsung logo appears and follows the rest of the process.
3. I cannot start the phone in CWM (except from the extended power menu).
4. I can start the phone in download mode.
5. With the extended power menu I can restart the phone without problems.
Does anyone know any solution for this ?
Thanks

Yes, and it's the same behavior.
From what I can tell I would say your phone is not detecting/accepting charge from the battery correctly.
If you still have warranty then use it, but if not, try opening your phone up and check the contacts and wires that seem to be power related.
Search on YouTube for Infuse screen repair and follow the walkthrough on how to disassemble it correctly.

Reflashing the unrooted original unbrickable firmwares via Odin or Heimdal gets rid of root. To get rid of Flash counter you need to reflash the pit file in 1 of the unbrickable firmwares. Doing this helps void warranty.
