Hello, I'm having problem starting my infuse, even with the battery fully charged I cannot start the phone.
The behavior is like this:
1. With the phone unplugged when I try to turn it nothing happen during the first seconds and after arround 8 seconds (keeping the on button pressed). The waiting symbol appears and then the something like an empty battery appears and then turns off again.
2. With the phone plugged I wait until the battery charging image appear, then there I press the on button and the samsung logo appears and follows the rest of the process.
3. I cannot start the phone in CWM (except from the extended power menu).
4. I can start the phone in download mode.
5. With the extended power menu I can restart the phone without problems.
Does anyone know any solution for this ?
Thanks

Yes, and it's the same behavior.
From what I can tell I would say your phone is not detecting/accepting charge from the battery correctly.
If you still have warranty then use it, but if not, try opening your phone up and check the contacts and wires that seem to be power related.
Search on YouTube for Infuse screen repair and follow the walkthrough on how to disassemble it correctly.

Do a stock flash via Odin or have the phone replaced if u a valid warranty

How would the warranty cover the phone if it ends up being rooted?

Reflashing the unrooted original unbrickable firmwares via Odin or Heimdal gets rid of root. To get rid of Flash counter you need to reflash the pit file in 1 of the unbrickable firmwares. Doing this helps void warranty.

I'm just curious what's meant by flash counter?

When you go into download mode at the top of the screen it says something like this...
"Custom binary counter: #" the # being replaced with how many times you've flashed through Odin/heimdal with out a pit

What Exodian said, but make sure you have some charge on the battery first. Else it might happen again.

Try Odining the KC1 ROM posted by RaverX3X if you can get into download mode. That usually clears up all problems.
get a usb jig $6-$8 soft bricks will never be a problem.

Hey guys, I followed the older thread on the original q/a forum but haven't gotten an answer. So I'll post here. Has there been an confirmed way to remove or restore so I get the stock boot img back I'm sick of the open padlock.

Follow those instructions, or get a USB jig off ebay to reset. The jig works on this phone, I used mine to clear that padlock and erase the flash counter.
Thanks bud can you send a link to the jig?
EDIT:: determined found it.

Yea thats the link I posted the question to before I posted here. I was just wondering if there was a more straight forward answer for Verizon customers.

How do I use the jig? From what I read I
have to flash?

No flash for jig. You turn off phone, plug into usb and it does its thing automatically.

Like I said, literally turn your phone off, once it's off completely, plug in jig. Jig will turn your phone back on automatically and put it in download mode. It will then erase the flash counter. You'll need to then pull the battery, and when you turn back on, lock will be gone. Good as new.

Does it turn on automatically when you insert the battery?
If it does, your power button is stuck.

Hello all. I've seen a few similar cases, but I still don't know how to go about it. I bricked my cousin's Infuse 4G when I tried upgrading to 4.2.2 using rootbox rom. Now its stuck at samsung logo. CANT enter recovery or download mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks, I followed the guide on this page teamandroid. com/2013/02/17/update-att-samsung-infuse-4g-sgh-i997-android-422-carbonrom-jelly-bean-custom-rom/2/ (can't post links. Yet ) that's how it got bricked. I've been finally able to go into download mode and Odin sees it on my pc but it reboots after 10 seconds or so. any idea about this?
Okay its gonna sound dumb but give your phone some time to charge. Next look in the infuse xda thread and get the heimdall one click back remedy .... For some reason Odin is great but the heimdall is more stable. Go to download mode and just flash back to stock.
Look for qkster thread for the heimdall and instruction.
Good info on getting to 4.2 or three is go to scott.harts thread and read the op for the proper instructions on working up because u have to go to rooted froyo the flash to GB then flash to ICS then finally to the jellybean ... I know there are short cuts but u can end up with headaches I prolly seen them all
PS. Make sure u turn off all antivirus software on PC it can screw up flashing process

Thanks for your replies. I'll try a few options and let you know how it goes. I think it's the battery cus I could turn it on without connecting it to power and it doesn't turn on by itself when I insert the battery. But now I cant turn it on. And the rebooting process stops when I takeout the usb cable
Okay, decided nit to leave this thread hanging (irrelevant I know). I got a fully charged battery and was able to flash desired custom rom to device and now running smooth on 4.2.2 rootbox rom. thanks xda
Cool glad to hear your running.

Need some more details, were you on 4.3 or 4.1? What specifically did you do? If you don't know what you were on, go into download mode and post exactly what the screen says.

Sorry, the phone is on 4.1. She got the prompt to update so I was an idiot and locked the bootloader and updated. It failed obviously, and the yellow triangle says, unauthorized software please bring to verizon

That's weird, so you have no way to access download mode? You never get a screen saying you're ready to download files?
It sounds like you aren't completely entering download mode, hold volume down, power and home button at the same time. Once you see the blue text at the top, release the power button and continue holding the volume and home keys until you're in. If your phone boots to the Verizon screen you should be able to boot into download mode.

OK so just to clarify...
You can enter Odin mode, but when you hit the volume up button to enter download mode the screen goes blank? Take a picture of what you're seeing and post it if you can, it's hard to tell what's going on because Odin mode is download mode.
If you can't enter download mode, there's no way to recover your phone in an easy way. You can try using an sdcard bootloader brick method, but I don't think it'll work because your phone isn't completely unresponsive. The only way to fix it at this point is jtag. Just make sure there's no way to get into download mode.

Sorry my bad for not clarifying, I CAN get into Odin or download mode. So odin does recognise it.

Ok, so tell me what information it displays. In the top left corner in download mode or right before download mode there's information such as hardware version, binary, flash count.

Good, your bootloader is still unlocked, I'll point you in the right direction when I get off work or have time.
Someone will probably get there before me though, but you're in good shape.
You need to Odin flash a stock 4.1 image, root it, and freeze sdm 1.0 and fwupdater.apk to prevent it from updating to 4.3.

OK, so simply follow section five of this guide. Go to the website linked in the op, and download the 4.1.2 mf1 firmware. Do not download the 4.3 ml1 firmware.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709
Next, use this to root your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332825
Once that's finished, download ez unlock version 1.2 and unlock the bootloader.
Once you're rooted, use a file browser (es file Explorer is free) and rename sdm1.0.apk and fwupdater.apk to sdm1.0.apk.bak and fwupdater.apk.bak. This will keep the phone from updating to 4.3 and locking your bootloader.

You have to use the tar.md5 file, look for it when it's extracted. Extract it to your desktop so you know where it is.
