If you have the blue recovery it sounds like your running ICS... If its distorted, sounds like you need to update your Bootloaders from froyo to Gingerbread bootloaders.. You can do a simple search and find a thread to do this with Odin or Heimdell..
As for your issue... You just need to flash the ICS kernel with Heimdell found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629079 - Just put your phone into download mode, open the executable ICS jar file and make sure it says connected and then click flash.. let it do its thing and it should boot just fine.
After I flashed it in download mode the device boots into cwm fine but when I do a normal boot the screen goes black.should I just reflash a rom

Oh..I see. What you're talking about are the rainbows effects.
You have to flash a GB boot loader.
See the op of cm9 or flash my whole uclb3 firmware and then flash again with the boot loader box checked. see the op for details

When your phone is powered of completely, hold the power and volume down keys at the same time. This will then bring up a white screen with a load of text. Look at the top and if it says 'S-off' then I assume you've unlocked the boot loader. If it says 'S-on' I assume not. But this isn't always the case.
Try it anyway and if this helps please leave a thank you

That is just for HTC devices.
Just reboot your phone and if the first samsung logo when booting up disappears quickly then you have an unlocked biitloader.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
The simplest way to tell is if you reboot your device and if the first splash screen that appears flashes "Samsung" really quick, then you are unlocked. If you are not unlocked it will stay up for a second or two.

What version of ez unlock are you using? Make sure you use version 1.2. The later versions don't work.
Actually they do work as I used 1.4 and the only thing is that it says unknown. Also once it gives you the prompt saying the phone is unlocked you flash a custom recovery to see if you have successfully unlocked the bootloader.

You probably flashed an incompatible kernel. Basically if you flash a kernel meant for ICS it won't work on jelly bean and vice versa.

It has been widely known/reported that 1.4/1.3 are non-functional. I think you are the first person I've seen to claim otherwise. Maybe it works for some? All I know is that 1.4 did not work for me I had to revert to 1.2, and this is the same for everyone else in the ez unlock thread on Rootz.

I'm assuming you downloaded ez-unlock from the market? That's version 1.4, which has been widely reported as non-functional. Uninstall the current app then download version 1.2 from this thread and install it:

That should fix your problem if it doesn't then there is something else wrong.

When booting up (by pressing power button, and when I connect it to charger it boots up by itself) the phone goes straight to CWM Recovery. I've tried everything, nothing works.
When in CWM everything seems to work fine: I can flash the ROM or do backup/restore.
I tried going back to stock - same problem. Can Not boot to OS.
PLEASE HELP!!!
Just to clarify on understanding your issue, when you boot up the phone by pressing only the power button your phone goes into cwm instead? While in cwm when you select reboot does is just stay in cwm? What version of cwm are you using? If I were in your shoes, I would reflash cwm with nvflash and go from there.

Sounds like you need to NVFlash CWM.
Did you use ROM Manager to flash CWM?
Appears you flashed CWM to the boot partition, not the recovery partition, which can happen when you use ROM manager.

The answer to all of these questions is "Yes"
The CWM Recovery I used is 5.0.2.0, but I tried other versions too, same results: reboot to Recovery just by pressing power or "reboot' from CWM.

I would next than suggest using the scrubber/nullifier, followed by NV flashing the stock rescue package, than follow back up with NV flashing CWM and than your ROM.
This should rebuild all partitions and than rebuild from scratch.
This is the procedure I follow when I brick my phone. I can provide you with links if needed.

I found and used the nullifier, but it didn't help either. I used the file manager that comes with the nullifier, and for some reason the boot folder is empty even after I flash the ROM, and I also tried copy/paste the boot image from my backup folder to the root/boot folder.
I'm frustrated. Please HELP. any other suggestions.

I tried to reboot the phone, and now its in boot loop.
Is it safe to flash CWM Recovery(v5.0.2.7) now ? And then restore from my backup?
If you made the backup with a different version of CWM the backup will not restore. You have to use the same version to restore the ROM as you did to make the backup.
Yey!!! It worked! :victory::victory::laugh:
Flashed NV Flash----->Flashed CWM 5.0.2.7----> and then restored from my backup. Now my phone is as it was before.

I'm sure somebody knows an answer to this, but I'm just gonna say it. You need a case.
Way to respect the OP by still making the useless reply and besides don't you think it's a little late for a case?
And do a search
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T769 using xda app-developers app
I
So first register at www.sammobile.com, then search SGH-T769 under firmware and download the August 2012 ICS or The Feb 2013 ICS Firmware, wait for the download to finish (took me 30 minutes) then extract which ever firmware zip you downloaded then using Odin click on PDA and select the .md5 file which is located in the extracted ICS Firmware Folder that you've downloaded from sammobile.com
Download the PIT file here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919228
Click on PIT in Odin and then select the one downloaded from the link above
then make sure re-partition isn't checked and start the flashing process after it is done flashing and reboots you'll have stock ics to root it simply follow the instructions over at the root ics stock thread found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919228
This will flash a custom recovery and once the recovery is flashed using Odin reboot into recovery and flash the superuser.zip then you'll have Rooted Stock ICS Firmware or if you want you could just skip flashing superuser.zip and just flash a custom rom.
*BOOT LOOP MIGHT OCCUR*
To fix boot looping after flashing stock ICS just boot into stock or custom recovery and wipe data and cache then reboot and you're good to go.
