We need a little more info here.
What ROM you are on. What ROM you want to go to. What recovery you are using. The procedure you are using to upgrade... Etc
First though it sounds like you need to do some more reading. Check out the stickies for all the info you need.

Pretty sure he has an unsigned zip error... So his recovery may just be too old.
OP, use goomanager from play store and download and install the latest twrp. I'm assuming you are at least rooted.
Also it maybe that your SD card is corrupt and you need to have it replaced...
Its all guesswork and grasping at straws. I'm sure hes intelligent if he's made it this far without speaking good English, so let's hope he understands enough to not brick (or Google translate )

Like xcrazydx I suspect you have stock recovery. In that case you need to flash custom recovery.
If that's the case then read here on how to do that.

Thanks for the help mate! Just followed the procedures and now I got jellybean on my nexus s... more power to the XDa community!!!!
Update error
clear "Google Services Framework" data under Apps.
If it doesn't work clear it again. Shut off your phone. switch to computer Open up the CMD program in your computer and write out the Clockwork MOD recovery or TWRP recovery, which ever one you have(google the steps if you aren't familiar. google is your friend.). Once into recovery Install what ever zip file you downloaded for the update and it should work.
Hi mate, did you wipe?

That doesn't matter. You don't need to set it up or anything. Once you get a good install on CM9, just reinstall the CM10.
You worried about an official cm9 but not cm10? Lol just giving you a hard time
But yeah flash any ics Rom...it will require a double flash most likely....as in flash like normal, reboot, get stuck on Samsung/cyanogen logo, three finger back to recovery (hold volumes and power) reflash and your good, once you boot up boot back to recovery and flash cm10
Make sure you remove any sdcards before flashing cm10

Post 1 will get you back to stock and post 2 will restore root.
After you are successful with this, flash a CM9 rom such as Entropy's Unofficial build here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601844
Run this for a little while then flash the CM10 rom of your choice.

Go back to stock and start over...your system partition is messed up, what your getting is basically saying it can't find the device info in the build.prop and there fore not flashing it (its a little mechanism that prevents flashing on the wrong device)
So back to stock

Flash cm9
Flash cm10
Should be good

I have the Verizon GS3 and I have been rooted for about a month now but I kept the stock rom. What are the most stable roms available for the GS3 at this point? Also, the other day I recieved a notification on my phone that an OTA was available to download and install. I declined the update for now because I wasn't sure if it was safe to install it. Is it safe to install the OTA on a rooted phone with a stock rom?

It is safe. Has to be locked and on stock recovery with all stock apps intact. Will lose root and maybe wipe Internal SD. Not sure. Have never taken an OTA on any device.

Most of the TW ROMS are pretty stable. Some of the others have various problems, read in the 2 dev sections about each ROM and it will tell you what is broken. I know, that is alot of reading. But, think of it this way, if you break your phone, that will (should) cost you at least $60 for jtag service. If you read, you can see if you even want to try the ROM. There could be bugs with it that you can't live with. Then again, there could be bugs that you could.

Perfect.
It is so slow compared to ICS. Samsung really has to stop with bloatware.
Just flash on ICS with ODIN, without any wype, and works fine and don't loose my datas !
For the root I install CWM 6.0.2.7 with odin, then flash the old root.zip (that one I used for ICS), with this new CWM wich asked me to fix the root, I said YES. Rot was good, comfirm by Titanium backup, no need to flash syperuser.zip.
Only a problem with the samsung's keyboard which keep querty, but it show azerty, and I am french, so I change for ICS keyboard wich is really azerty !
All is smooth and fast !!!!

One man's bloat is another man's nugget and apps the you don't run just sit there doing nothing, using no resources and have nothing to do with overall speed. If you want them gone, root, and remove or freeze them,
