not yet. the latest version 1.3.18 which includes the new radio, as you know, has not been rooted as of yet, and im pretty sure the xt comes with this version as well. unfortunately i found out the hard way as i bricked my phone in the process of flashing a rooted rom with the latest radio img. we have to wait a little bit longer
Just picked one up as well. I really like the phone its fast and everything works but root would be nice. We need more devs on this.
I hope this phone gets rooted soon... I just got one and all these preinstalled apps are annoying me.
Well I have learned a few things messing with my Cliq XT
1. Bootloader USB - Hold MENU (blue screen)
2. USB FASTBOOT MODE, Recovery Mode - Hold Power + Camera

Mine says safemode on the bottom left when I held down menu during boot and I never got a blue screen. Did I do it wrong?

That's for the regular Cliq but thanks for the thread it was a good read.
I'd love to see root as well missing it after the upgrade from my G1. I've been trying to find some kind of thinktank on this topic but all I can find is people asking about it. Are any devs working together on this? I'd like to help out.
omg for real i want root ugh..has any1 heard anything ????????
umm possible root access for cliq xt??
ok im not sure im very good with technology and electronics but new to the rooting thing. i downloaded astro file manager and i can see all the files within the phone memory not the sd card. now maybe this has already been figured out just no one has done any hacking yet or maybe a new discovery but if so im assuming this would make rooting all android phones easier.
please give some responses on this and i hope im on to something because i cannot wait for 2.1 anymore!
Quench rooted in Brazil
Here in Brazil we already have root for Quench/Cliq XT.

Can you interpret it for us or just the main parts with the downloads and apps?

Hi everyone,
Unfortunately, our root method only works for Quench users. Cliq XT users won't be able to do it same way.
We obtained some progress in last days. We got a Custom Recovery for Quench and also offer a retail firmware to be installed through this recovery.
The link to our custom recovery is: 4shared.com/file/IqwapK4-/Custom_Recovery_Quench.html
What you, Cliq XT users, can do is try to install this custom recovery and then you can install any firmware for both CliqXT or Quench.
We also offer a brazilian firmware where it is possible to root, since you can install it on your phones.
This is the link: https : / / rsddownload.motorola.com/download/ZEPLA_U1_0.12.196-P4-v1.0-svn16-USAZEP01TIMBRLA012-GAS_LA_GSXZPLNTIMBRLA_P020-CPv0.3.2-TIMBR-upgrade-customer-secure-UPGRADE.sbf.gz
If you can install the custom recovery, pay attention to some observations:
1) When performing the restore, the button to confirm the action is the camera key, not the home button, as showed in recovery.
2) We provide the dump of a Brazilian retail firmware to be applied with the custom recovery: 4shared.com/file/9lYfDpAY/nandroid.html
Please, if someone is willing to try, feel free to ask any questions and keep us informed of your progress.
Regards.

I can tell you that with astro file manager you can see root files, and ive confirmed that this phone doesnt has the su file so you cannot use superuser obviously but you can run any command there is in the phone. I was wondering if I could take control by putting a su file and chmoed it to make a superuser commander so the phone does everything you tell him... I mean it is linux so I think all it needs is the su file.
Another thing i noticed was that if you typed on a terminal anything that isnt a command some gibberish it will say "Permission Denied" but if you type any command that is in the phone itll do it without authorization...
Just some thoughts...
Oh BTW MisfitsTimmy show us your findings with that custom recovery thanks in advance!

Taken from my original thread here
Again, this is for Iconia A701 users only. If you don't know what version ROM you are on, then you need not be here.
Prerequisites; (the stuff you need to have already)
1. Acer or Google USB drivers. No, I am not going to tell you how to do this. If you can't figure it out, then you don't need to be here.
Driver issues, can be addressed in the Q&A forum.
2. USB Debugging turned on (your development settings). If you can't find it in Settings/Development, then again, you do not need to be here.
Disclaimer. This is done at your own choice. I am not responsible if your tab doesn't start, global war, or EMP's dropping on your residence. If you complain, I will probably just laugh at you. If I err in my ways, then I will fix the script.
What the "bat" file does.
It roots your tablet.
Installs the 701 unsecure boot, img which can be used on all region JB devices
Installs SU binaries
Installs Superuser
Installs Busybox
This is a full root with /system remounts
Ooops too late, this already happened!
Choice 1 exits the bat without installing CWM
Choice 2
Installs CWM Recovery in addition to rooting.
If you quit after step 1, you will still have stock recovery.

Actually some of the credit goes to Verboth, Pagustin, Pawitp, Civato, EZTerry. These guys do a lot for the Iconia line of tablets.
Should also thank Acer for finally letting us unlock the bootloader
Remember, "Bootloader" is different from "boot.img"

Thanks alot Moscow and to all the other contributors to this release. This solved 2 of my problems on my A701 tab I got following the first post in this thread:
1. Prerequisites said CWM 6.0.1.1 was required which i installed - This version does not work on the A701. Booting into recovery gives alot of error messages about not able to mount among other things the sd card. Installing this release gives me CWM 6.0.1.5 which seems to work correctly (making a backup in CWM 6.0.1.5 to SD card right now).
2. Beeing rooted but not having R/W rights on the system, as you Moscow explained for me earlier in this thread.
Thanx alot again!

No problem! Glad it worked.
The reason why the original CWM 6011 didn't work, is because it was designed for the ICS system using an ICS kernel. If you were on ICS it works fine. I believe the thread you referenced, has you install it while on ICS so you can run that update that was in the original rooted package.
The latest CWM 6015 seems to be ok, although I has seen a couple irregularities in it, but for the most part, it works with JB systems.
The rooting method for JB has been around for awhile, just that some users would rather see it in a script instead of using adb from a command line.
Have fun

Ok, after looking at what Pangustin told you in the other thread, here is how I understand it.
He migrated to 4.1.1 by virtue of the update (or flashing the image file, it really doesn't matter).
Then, he wanted to install the latest "leaked" 701 update. However, he had deleted some files and such, so the leaked update probably wouldn't install. The update files are very sensitive to changes.
So he ran the original JB Update again (the 270mb one). The theory, is this refreshed the missing files, and installed locked bootloader and such. At this point, it appeared he could successfully install the newest "leaked" update file. (the 6mb one).
I would guess, to go back to a stock jelly bean setup, you would only need to install the 270mb patch update file you have posted here.
I don't plan on trying this, at least unless I'm extremely bored.:laugh::laugh:
MD
You're right MD.
I manually installed JB the first time as my tab didn't get the update the I deleted som system apps I didn't use.
Out of curiosity I did a temp unroot of my tab and checked if an official update was available through OTA. And there the 6mb update was available to me but it would not install because of the missing system apps.
So I went through the process of reflashing the whole thing like I did originally to get JB and I was able to flash the 6mb update.
That was a lot of time just to flash a small upgrade but I was the only one having it so I thought it might be nice to get it for everyone.
I'm not interested in what behind paugustin did... i meant i wanna know how you smart guys did the job done with every steps, adb, flashed and etc how to figure it out with the command code... i just wanna learn little bit about that, even though i will not to do that because paugustin warn me not to do the risk, but an advanced user come from a noob right? ... i'm just curious about what have you guys done if you guys do not mind share particularly explains post about every steps detail how to do that like "a guide how to revert back to stock image/recovery" etc...
Actually i'm Just bored everyday checked out a701 tab post, but too little person post/participate, whether the cause of the language problem or this tab is only sold a few units in the world? or too many noobs like me has purchased the a701 :fingers-crossed:
Thanks MD without your easyroot i will never root my devices and pugustin that has made me curiously

Well, to install it, you simply boot using a stock recovery, or boot using CWM (newest version). In CWM, select "Install zip from SD". Then select that 270mb update file.
To quickly get to recovery, you can just adb reboot recovery
Keep in mind, you have to have the correct version of android already installed. In other words, you can't go running that update on a DE rom for example.

Please note, this CAN brick your phone. Do not proceed if you are not confident in your ability.
Any damages caused are your own problem and I withhold any liability for any future issues caused by this process
Just a small note, I am aware of the screen in recovery moving, this is because of HTC's framebuffer method, I haven't been able to fix it yet.
1: Unlock your phone at the htcdev site, follow the instructions on the site
2: Download the following two files. Download either ClockworkMod Recovery for ICS OR Clockworkmod Recovery for JB depending on which version you are on and Superuser.zip, Move the Superuser.zip to somewhere on your phone's SD card.
3: reboot your phone into hboot and then into fastboot if you are not already there
4:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
this is presuming the recovery.img is in the same directory as fastboot, you can either move it or point the code to it directly
5: open recovery.
6: Flash the superuser.zip through recovery
7: reboot
8: Congratulations, your phone should now be rooted, go have fun with the ability to access your phone fully!
Edit: Here is a copy of the stock recovery recovery_signed.img
For those who want to install busybox, check out this post.
Also, due to the current issues I still haven't had the time to fix I'd suggest using the TWRP recovery for the time being.

Slightly in that the Clockworkmod recovery isn't fully functional (power as select does not work) and as such is missing some features.

I'd suggest installing busybox and using something like this , it's how I'm backing mine up currently.
Hello. Thank you very much for your guide, my One SV is now rooted. But I can't install Busybox ("Installing Busybox failed")... Can you tell us how we can install it ?...
Additional info please.
Hello do we leave the phone in recovery while we finish the code for rooting or should we be in the bootloader, fastboot still, or should the rom be booted up. I just wanna make certain so I dont Brick this thing.

I have got bootloader unlocked, recovery pushed and installed. Now I have unknown device in device manager named k2u that wont intall drivers. I cannot connect via adb shell because it cannot find device??? Any Ideas??
I had the same problem, and after multiple tries I finally find a solution : install HTC Sync, then edit the androidusb.inf file (in my case, the path is C:\Program Files\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Win7_x86\androidusb.inf) and add in its "Device section" a line with the ID number of the One SV (you can find it in the Device Manager on your PC) :
%MyHTC%=HTCAND32.Dev, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0D0F&MI_00
Then, restart your PC, reboot your phone in recovery and connect it, Windows must install "new" driver and recognize it as "My HTC", and you can root your smartphone with the guide of bkcokota. It's the only way I've found, but perhaps there is an easiest solution ?
(Sorry for my bad english... I hope that you'll understand what I wrote !)

Where can i find the id in device manager.. No HTO One sv listed... Only one listing is My HTC which appears to be fully loaded and functioning. I have htc sync loaded and running i cant adb anything.... Man I am no newbie at this at all but, this is really confusing me!! I hope xxdjvalexx the O.P. Dev pm's me back with some help... The ID is in device manager when you connect your One SV to your PC in recovery ; it's the ID of the "unknown device" named "k2u"... It's normally USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0D0F&MI_00, as I said in my last post.
Open Sesame!!!
Fantastic, Awesome and overall a Great Experience! I have learned a lot over the years with XDA and friends. Patience, is the key oh and reading.. I cant wait until the rom development blows up on this thing. When do you suppose xda will put up a official device development thread??
Probably sometime after it drops on sprint which has anyone heard? Anyway as indicated by my elation above root achieved with this device. Now just wait out the clockwork mod scene. I am on Cricketusers.com on the One SV forum there if anyone needs a helping hand or maybe a beta tester. Just let me everyone. Re: [GUIDE] Root for HTC One SV
I'm glad you got it working, I've heard it is coming to Sprint soon but I don't know much more than that, Australia is a bit far away to get the best gossip, I don't know when our if we are getting a forum but considering the fact it hasn't even been out for even a month yet I'd say be patient, just for reference I don't know if this matters to you but I have called up HTC and had a chart to them about getting the kernel source, apparently they don't have out ready yet but it should be up "soon". Hopefully it is soon, I'd love to get cyanogenmod on this. I might drop by the cricket forums and see what is there.

Re: [GUIDE] Root for HTC One SV
Alright guys and gals.... Another small update. Still obviously more obstacles and development will continue as the actual root access is only gained while the rom is powered up. After a power off shutdown, and reboot root is lost. Alas you cannot delete bloat ware apps using root file explorer pro. Also tried doing a few tweaks with my rom toolbox pro like, LCD density, configuring A2SD etc.... Any thoughts chime on in guys lets get this thing hashed out before Sprint gets it. That way all our further development can continue without any hiccups... It seems that without a working recovery the root we push with web will be a useless exploit... Alas at least for now!

In my case, the root isn't lost after a power off shutdown : I shutdown the phone every evening, and I've never lost root...
With SuperManager, I can modify system (the weather database for example), and Titanium Backup works perfectly. The only problem which I have is that I cannot install BusyBox.
Re: [GUIDE] Root for HTC One SV
wow I wonder what went wrong in my case?? Its like it only did a temp root kind of process. I may try to re root the thing again just to see but... I don't wanna fry this thing before I have had it for a little longer I think. You are on cricket
Wireless yes? I just don't know why mine wouldn't take a solid permanent root..?

No, I'm not on Cricket Wireless (I'm French), and my ROM is stock HTC. Have you a specific operator ROM? Maybe it is the cause of the problem?
Hi guys, I'm just going to try my luck on this one.. As I see that you guys have managed to successfully rooted your phones, could someone please do a ROM/system dump and share it..? I would like to port this ROM on our devices. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but it's not possible : the recovery isn't fully functional (see the previous posts), and personally I can't install BusyBox, so I can't make any backup or dump...

Sorry to hear that.. But there's another way AFAIK that works. Using a Root Granted File Explorer (I use X-Plore), you can try to copy the "system" folder to ur sd card.. It "may" copy all of the files of system.. Can you do that for me?
Still cant achieve a permenant root.
Hello everyone, I still cant achieve a permenant root on this one sv. Some more info is that it is Cricket wireless Carrier specific got at a authorized cricket dealer on Like Jan 20 I think. So it saysy its rooted and su asks permission on all root level; apps however when i use root explorer to delete like say cricket nav and crkit mobile browser it deletes them.. they are gone. Until power down or, reboot then they are right back poof. Any bright ideas??

I still dont have a working root for this phone!! Has I tried this mod here and it seemed to work good. At least the for a minute or two. I then tried to delete some system apps I wanted gone with root explorer. It let me delete them just fine.. Wow just when i thought I was a happy man....BAM rebbot, Powerdown, and reboot, then root changes wont commit. All apks I deleted are back even though my root explorer pro said I was mouted to system as root..?? Funny hugh any help from mmaybe someone on cricket with this phone who achieved a permenant root can help me. Or maybe everyone here is waiting patiently for a working CWM recovery before they try and acieve root. Maybe I should have waited too. Alrhough I dont think I boirked my phone because it still works graet except my root level acess that i want so badly...
I saw this same problem with the HTC Droid DNA. I don't have the One SV, but I suspect that the stock kernel will not let you manipulate the /system folder.
With the DNA there was at least one dev that made a kernel which would allow you to change stuff. Also custom ROMs can have everything modified already. That would work as well.
Oh and which recovery are you using? Does it belong to another phone?
I am starting this thread to hopefully encourage discussion on the Lenovo A2107A-F tablet variant.
I am aware there is an existing thread on the A2107 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982334
but that thread is concentrating on the A-H (dual sim + wifi) variant which is somewhat different from the A-F (wifi only).
So far I have not found any custom rom development, which is disappointing as the stock rom leaves a lot to be desired IMHO. While the current OTA update is fine for web surfing, reading emails etc, HD video playback (particularly YouTube HD) is very poor. Also the recent OTA update forces an optimization of apps on bootup which leads to long boot times
You can root and install CWM by following steps 1-5 from the 1st post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044496
Note that "-Update 3-" mentioned in the post does not appear to work for the A-F model!
So, has anybody any leads on possible development on this tab?
Any tips on improving performance?
My first tip:
If after installing CWM you cannot get to the CWM recovery screen after powering down the device, look for for the file "/system/reboot-from-recovery.p". If it's there, either delete it or move it to some other place. This file restores the default recovery on a system reboot.
I got bitten by this a couple of times
Thanks for starting a separate thread for the A2107A-F. I'm new to Android devices and just got this one two weeks ago. I'd like to get rid of several of the apps that I have no use for and from what I understand that means I have to root it. I got lost in the details of the other thread, but I tried reading all of it. I'm on Vista and somewhere along the line I installed one of the suggested ADB drivers via PDAnet. Device Manager is showing Android Phone and under that Android ADB Interface. I wasn't sure if that matched closely enough with the step-by-step threads since I don't really think of the device as a phone, so I've been holding off on going further. I've tried using a few other drivers that were suggested in the large thread and some other threads, but Vista always tells me the current driver is the most up-to-date one.
Do you know if it's okay for it to say Android Phone rather than something else?
Thanks. I've got some other questions about the specifics of some of the other steps, but this is probably enough to get started.
My apologies in advance if my posts are too long and my questions are too basic for these forums. Feel free to point me somewhere else based on what I'm asking for. I'd honestly appreciate any leads towards my goal of getting rid of the bloat on this device and making it more responsive. (Wow! The portrait to landscape lag is really bugging me now after reading around here).
Anyway, my primary purpose is to remove the seemingly unneeded programs, services and widgets that come with the tablet. Maybe I'm just ignorant about these things, but at this time things like messaging (IMO), mapping, and some of the other default features are of no use to me. They seem to be eating up a lot of resources. I can kill some of the services I think they are associated with, but they keep popping back up.
I did watch the "noob" video (color me a tiny ant to be squashed) and did try to search for an answer to get me even started. I've read the huge main A2107A thread (80+ pages) and tried three of the suggested ADB drivers with my Vista 32 setup for my A2107A-F. The only one that even seemed to connect was ADPnet and it showed the tablet as a Android Phone. Maybe I'm just too paranoid, but after the multiple "brick" posts I'd like to make sure I'm on the right path before trying to "root" the device which appears to be the first step in removing all the extra stuff Lenovo added.
Not that it matters, but I've had the tablet for almost two weeks now and my favorite things are Slacker Radio, Scrabble, Roll It and Zen pinball. I do play Words with Friends with my wife, but I don't like it since some of the words they allow are not valid in Scrabble (which I used to play as an expert competitively face-to-face).
If you are so inclined, feel free to PM me for a Scrabble game. I promise I will not use anything other than my brain and the built in dictionary to make my plays. (I'm a bit rusty since I gave up competitive Scrabble in 2006).
So, long story short... Thanks in advance for any and all advice you can give on slimming down the Lenovo A2107A-F. And if you want an honest Scrabble challenge feel free to PM me.
As far as checking if your drivers are installed properly I would open a dos (command) prompt in window and from within the window change to the directory where you have the 4.03root files. From the command prompt type 'abd.exe shell' and you should see something like "[email protected]:/ $". If you don't see this then you will not be able to root! You need to make that USB debugging is turned on on your device you have an entry in the device manager for ADB Interface (expand on the device which you have showing up).
I am no expert, and I struggled with this on my first go also
Once rooted you can then install Titanium Backup from the play store and use it to get rid of the bloatware! Proceed with caution however as it is possible to remove critical system apps!

Thanks! That's the type of test suggestion I was looking for to make sure I was on the right path with the driver.
So has anyone tried creating a rom for this tab yet? I've been doing some research into porting another rom to work on the A2107A-F, but want to make sure there isn't one already.
I just received a notification of a new firmware update for the A2107A-F. This would be the second available update.
Has anyone else gotten this and taken the plunge yet? I'm curious if this is possibly Jellybean, as some of the larger screen IdeaTab models run this.

I lost root after applying the first update a while back. That's typical when updating. Afterward, I was able to re-root mine again using the same procedure as before. All was well. So, don't panic...yet.
Can you report on what other changes the update made? Is it Jellybean? Or maybe ICS 4.04?

Although I have my A2107A rooted and tweaked to my satisfaction, there are a few lingering issues that I'd hoped an update would correct:
1) The neutered Bluetooth stack. The tablet is supposed to work with Bluetooth keyboards, mice, etc. It doesn't. Although I've gotten it to talk to an external GPS module, other Bluetooth data connections simply will not work. Oh, and Bluetooth audio? Forget about it!
2) Some settings that are present in stock ICS builds are just omitted in this one. As an example, the ability to specify a default TTS voice. It's present under settings in my wife's tablet and every other ICS build I've ever encountered. Not this one!

I was rooted too, lost root access (only with some apps!) after the 130221 update Feb 28. I'll try the same root procedure as before to see if I can get it back. Glad to see a thread on the popular US version A2107A-F. Maybe someone will port Jelly Bean to this tablet! Doesn't appear Lenovo wants to do it...

I cannot get this 'update' to install after downloading. The tablet reboots to CWM during the install (I am rooted with CWM installed) and when I attempt to manually select the update.zip from /sdcard/googleota/ I get on error (status 7). In desperation I re-loaded the stock rom that I found on another thread and when the tablet attempts to update I get a "assert failed apply_patch_check( /system/app/applicationsprovider.apk)" error Anybody any ideas?

I'm in exactly the same boat as you. I'm getting the same exact error. except that I do not have CWM installed (I am rooted though). Perhaps there's a problem with the update.zip?
Something odd that I noticed however: After the tablet reboots into recovery mode, the update fails, and I go to browse for the update.zip, the sdcard/googleota directory is missing (along with everything that follows it alphabetically). They reappear upon normal boot. I've tried copying it to a directory closer to the beginning of the alphabet and it does show up while in recovery mode. But it still will not install.
Maybe I somehow do not have the available space to perform the update? Is that possible? I show plenty of available space on both sdcards. Could we somehow be below a certain ROM space threshold necessary for an update?
I think in my case because I loaded a 'stock' rom I got from another thread, this rom is failing a verification test the update is doing before install. I do not know how to get around this! I'm continuing my search, but I am not so confident this will be resolved easily...

Well, I am running a stock rom. I am unwilling to "mess with success" until there's a 100% reproducible way of recovering if it fails. And, so far, everything I've read in the other A2107A thread has been hit or miss for the A2107A-F people.
Anyway, If the update is performing a verification test, then it my "virgin stock ROM" should certainly pass it. The only thing that I did is to root it. Hmmm...could the update be testing for that and refusing to install if it detects a rooted device? I would tend to doubt that, since the previous ota update went just fine. I lost root in the process but easily reapplied it afterward.
Thoughts?
Interestingly, I flashed the A2107A-F_S483_121115 rom (again, found in another thread) as I was having verification problems with the OTA update just released from lenovo which was available from the A2107A-F_S484_121211 flashed rom. While the S483_121115 rom appears to be older, I no longer get the option to update via OTA as the tablet is telling me that my s/w is up to date! Go figure.
It's really too bad this device hasn't taken off. If I actually knew how to dev then I would start developng ROMs for it. I'm enjoying it now that I have root and got rid of bloat.
Hey guys. Just wanted to say if someone can send me a stock rom and be willing to test, I'll try to do up a good rom for the -f models. I'd use mine for the stock rom, but I've edited a lot of the system, so no go there. If you have the stock rom or want to be a tester, let me know.
Before anyone tells me to use the search, I already did. There is no forum for my phone specifically, and what few posts I have found that even remotely relate to my issue have been dead for over 3 months and I was not sure how you felt about resurrecting them.
Phone info: LG Venice (LG-LG730), Carrier: Boost Mobile, OS: Android 4.0.4
What I have done so far: I was on another help site(so far not so helpful) and several people have reported success in rooting their Venice following THIS tutorial. I have had no luck following said tutorial. Every time I get to the part where it shows the "restore, yes or no" part (can be found at 13:50 in the video tutorial), and when I click yes to restore, the phone says "starting restore.... restore finished" or something similar, but never actually reboots, and nothing shows up in the CMD window. Now I know that I have never set any encryption passwords, and I verified that these options were turned off in the phone settings.
I have also tried Super One Click, for what its worth, and keep getting stuck on "step 7: waiting for device"
If anyone has any information on how I can easily root this phone, I would be most appreciative. I say "easy" way because I AM totally new to rooting and I don't want mess something up. I apologize ahead of time if I posted this in the wrong area.
Thank you in advance.

FWIW I just rooted both my and my wife's LG Venice phones.
I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 and then method 3 instead of 1 which has worked for others.
android 4.0.4
kernel 3.0.8
build IMM76L
software LG730ZV5
I did try method 1 first and it may be that the two need to be stacked for all I know at present, I will be resetting one phone to factory and trying fresh with method 3 as soon as her 8g SD is ready to go.
I've tried using different versions of Bin4ry's root and none of them work. Im running 4.0.4

On a friends phone, also a Venice (boostmobile) we had some insanity as described below.
The final root check stalled, and we finally stopped the script that was waiting for something for most of a day.
A quick check from the ADB said we had root, and I could get the # prompt and do what I wanted, see the supersu and busybox from the rooting, etc..
Two reboots later, after adding titanium backup, supersu, and stericson-busybox from the play store (or what ever the name is today) everything went swimmingly, and even the problems I had noticed with some audio and video codecs not working had resolved themselves.
I am not sure what version of the rooter from bin4ry we used on mine and my wife's, but on our friend's we used the newest at the time he downloaded which was v25
Alright, i'll try it out. Thank you
You wouldn't by chance have the file on hand would you? I can't seem to find v25

Root Issues Lg 730
:cyclops: Hi XDA... I have an issue also with the Lg730 Venice or (Sol) I have a repeat client that is always coming up with new phones, and keeps me busy rooting, custom flashing, (in general Modding) all his little toys.. I rooted his Lg 730 last yr with adb (Ubuntu12.04) by using the usual push/mount/chmod/install.. This system has worked for me many times, including but not limited to Clone S3's , Clones S2(Chinese) Droids of all flavors, yet with this New OTA 4.1.2 my client lost the previoius Root (I did not flash CustomRom at that time) . I have SERIOUSLY ,tried every method that I know of. Binary's(thanks Binary) which i have used a few times(Donator here) does not seem to work this time. GingerBreak/Psneuter/Fastboot/Rageagainsthecage/Odin/Heimdall (yes i even tried Samsung designs) Nothing works on this new OTA for me. Upgraded to RaringRingtail thinking i was out of date , to my dismay Nothing... I cannot get Root. Fastboot does not pickup device(all drivers in place(Ubuntu/Windows) My biggest challenge ever. I BOUGHT this phone (not because i like it) but for personal reasons. There is limited support for this device. I would like those who read this forum to know, that I AM going to dedicate my spare TIME on the Lg730 Venice from this day on. I have reset BoostMobile Factory settings , taken the stock boot.img , pulled the system, , rooted it, busybox'd it, with run support, zipaligned, added a couple of my favorite apk's,changed the bootanimation, zipped it,(7zip)... Essentially STOCK, with ROOT... I cannot run this on my Device(NO ROOT) but if any1 is interested its ready for flashing... I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOU DEVICE... I will speak to a Moderator before i post link so as to get XDA Forum rules advice first. I take no credit , and i give it all (J.Rummy) (Chainfire)(XDA Developers)(Dsixda)(Koushik Dutta)(Exploid-Crew)for without them many things could not be possible....

I do not have it on hand, and we both semi-accidentally OTA upgraded to jellybean when the prompts got too annoying and lost root all together.
IF you manage to achieve root, best to use OTA rootkeeper BEFORE you upgrade, looks like now I have to use kdz tools and downgrade to v5, root, rootkeeper, and hope I can keep root :/

I would be interested in your theory cyclops. Possibly even in using yours over mine.
I am currently playing with doing much the same thing on a .cab formatted ROM then using the KDZ tool to push the modified v8 ROM (Jelly Bean 4.1.2) and pray I am good as I was when I was a kid

I have tried to use this page/post to root my LG 730 Venice (Android 4.1.2 Software LG 730ZV8). I have downloaded & installed everything but keep getting ERROR messages at the end. Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to install/use bin4ry v31.zip ??
I am almost sure that it would eliminate these errors. I have been using Linux now for over 10 years and this process should be child's play.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Not much info to go on Mike , but here goes, first but not least...... LG730ZV8 package is not rootable.... You need to first downgrade from the LG730ZV8 to LG730ZV5 using LG Tool 500 method... (.cab format from here--> ) http://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/swdata/WDLSW/LG730/ABMUSV/LG730ZV5_01/LG730ZV5_01.S5_00.P61009.cab ... Follow instructions to the letter, and do not miss any steps....... I think its an easier way using the tools but if your a DIY kinda guy , the KDZ method is a little more complex , but rewarding in the end , more so than The 500 Tool simply said , because if your a little like me, i flash many different OS's for the fun of it, and the KDZ method will truely always work when the Tool wont..... Now the KDZ method you can find Here --------------->----------->---------------------->-----------------------------------------------------> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287236.... If you have any problems or questions give4 a shout and i will try to guide you through it ...... Good luck Mike
Ps...... The trick to getting Binary's Root method to work is to put it on Root (c:\Binary.... etc...etc ) go to file press shift and right click to open cmd prompt... Type c:\RunMe ... Choose method #1 restore twice ,reboot 3x and Rooted..

I went into the folder that I extracted the bin4ry file download to and found two other folders:stuff and z_rootkit.. Inside the "stuff" folder I found abd.exe & dlls, busybox, fastboot, glass, install recovery, root me.tar (Linux), rootkittablet.tar.gz Linux), su and superuser.apk.. Now some of the ERROR messages had references to ABD and missing .dlls which were apparently not installed. This where I believe this prog hung up but I have no idea why.
The other folder "z_rootkit" had getroot scripts (.sh) and usbux.ab. I am guessing but I am assuming these might be needed too.
When I extracted to folder bin4ry, there were no other instructions to install from these folders.
This why I was asking for an install instruction file to get all this done.
Hope this helps in the solution !!
Hi Mike ...:cyclops: This will help you out..... You have the right package I believe.. Not sure why its giving you the dll errors... that could possibly be SDK or ADB not installed correctly via path to directory... Check it. Possibly deprecated download file. Too many too list in Windows... Gotta love Ubuntu........ Try downloading Binary's Root by Restore again... open downloads , -> drag n drop file to local c (root) set permissions-> Unzip it . open File . press shift on keyboard while also right clicking pointer, and it will bring up command prompt . Type ( .\RunMe ) in prompt...... When it opens select # (1) follow prompts to Backup---> Restore---> ADB will reboot ---once----twice and android will upgrade ... Let it finish. (3) Third reboot pull plug ---> grant permissions to Superuser or SuperSU on popup... Rooted.... I am assuming you downgraded to LG730ZV5 or LG730ZV6 already....... if there are any problems , or if you have questions let me know......
What to download ??

Just got everything cleaned up and am now ready to do this thing. Went to KDZ but don't know which prog to download plus I don't have B2C on my LG730.
Please let me know where I might find everything I will need to get it done.
Thanks
Progress Rooting LGE 730
I wish someone would teach all the Windows people that they are dealing with a MF trash bin OS. I have been fighting Win Updates. getting MS Active Sync installed etc. I have never in my life seen such idioatic crap in my life, There HAS TO BE AN EASIER way to root an LGE 730 (Venice) phone. If someone has such info please let me know because using the KDZ method is maniacal at best, I am ready to trash this piece of CR** phone. It CANNOT BE THIS TOUGH TO DO !
