Motorola i1

The Motorola i1 is the newest android fone out for SouthernLinc and soon Boosst Mobile........yes thats right Boost Mobile. Now has anyone got there hands on one yet and if so have you rooted it? Cuz I would love to know how to root it cuz I will soon have one when it comes to Boost Mobile. Well thanx for reading.

i got mine to and would love to root it and have a new rom any roms in development ? for the moto i1 ?

i was wondering the same thing im getting one today but my friend has one and there is no debbugging mode in settings i dont know if this will be a issue or if im loking in the wrong place iv have several android phones and rooted them all, so i didint think it would be so tricky to find debugging

i found debugging mode its in the usb menu....i guess im just curious about root...

I just got mine today. The USB drivers from motorola work, so we can play around in ADB. I hope for an easy root, but I have a feeling the i1 shares alot of hardware with the backflip and or the cliq XT. I don't think either of those have root yet, so I don't know what our chances will be.

i was thinking the same thing...

Has anyone figured out how to get into recovery or fastboot yet? I have tried every button combination i think and have not yet found it.
I did some how get into a diagnostic type app on boot (tested screen colors and touch calibratsion) but I have been unable to replicate that.

I am pretty sure we are SOL when it comes to root. I tried to run flash_image recovery from adb shell to push a new recovery img to the phone and it dies saying can't find recovery partition.
Unless it is possible to mount the system and writable with a custom boot.img I don't see how this could be done.

I 2 just bought the i1 and can't wait to push a new flash. I hope we are not SOL and that some1 more experienced then I will show us the light and find a way.

I am confident I could get us a root, I just need to find a way into recovery. Or fastboot for that matter. In your free time guys, reboot while mashing different button configs to see if you can find it.
I tried to push a custom recovery but adb said recovery partition not found. So either there isn't one (I hope this is untrue) or it has a different name.

Hold the green send key and the center key on boot up you get a screen that looks like it would be fastboot but the device doest show in fastboot devices from the SDK.

Is the Moto i1 going to get its own forums on xda? Who decides/creates the forums?

Is there anyone with experience making android apps?
I have found that /data/local is read/writable so I put the su bin in that DIR and installed superuser whitelist. If in ADB shell I run /data/local/su the superuser app asks for permission but fails because it is looking for su in /system/bin.
I am trying to compile the superuser app from source to have it look in /root/local, but the build is failing. If we can get that then we should be able to remount mtdblock7 to /system as read/writable and put su where it belongs.

Thank you for copy/pasting my post from another thread.... With that possible fastboot though, I know fastboot has had some issues with drivers in window7 64. So can someone try that on a XP machine and see if it shows in fastboot devices?

I am running x64 windows 7 also so I guess my button mashing has been in vein... looks like we are on the right track though...

I am guessing we won't get a forum for the Moto i1 Until it get's rooted, as I don't see people being to interested/developing/hacking for it until then.

I don't know how helpful this is but messing around I found IDEN phonebook manager from Motorola. Installed it and changed USB communication to Modem and was able to see the phone reboot and read sim data. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Ok, so as the previous post states I was able to access my sim card from the program which had me wondering if all IDEN phones from motorola had a special way of flashing so I looked around and found this link:

I found a firmware update for my old boost mobile i776 and downloaded upon running the program I noticed it launched a program called Iden upgrade utility. I am now thinking that is going to be our ticket into the phone.

[Urgent] Rooting Optimus V (not-active)

I have an urgent question regarding rooting my new Optimus V (Virg Mob), that if possible, i could use an immediate answer for i have very limited time.
I recently purchased a like new, used Optimus V 2.2 o/s off a friend, that is currently not-activated on the Virgin Mobile network, but have been sending/recieving calls and texts through Wi-Fi apps such as Line2 and netTalk. Is it possible to use sublimewulf's method of rooting the opt_v without service (prefer one click root)? i understand that it says it must be activated, but im curious if Wifi will work just as good, or if there is a simple ''one click root'' method i could use. im just not sure why it must be active, im not sure what is done during the one-click method.
Can I root my Optimus V with a One Click root program/app WITHOUT service/activation? If so, could someone please point me in the direction of the download + instructions? Much thanks, its greatly appreciated for all future help- you have no idea..

What is the meaning of this, under the fastbootroot thread? if this program at least works, why would he tag it as being deprecated? also saying he is tired of the complaints. please exp?

He means the complaints of him not working on it.
All you have to do is download this on your computer, as well as the LG drivers, and choose the [Full Package] option, and it will root your phone. Afterwards, see if you can get into recovery, and if not, run the program again and choose the [Flash a custom recovery] option.
Ive used this several times, never a problem.
Best ROM for me was Harmonia, which can be found on Android Central.

i tried both quickbootroot (your link/app posted above) , and also SuperOneClick v2.2, and neither one worked. I tried SuperOneClick, opened the program, and clicked [Root], (after connecting USB to droid, and turning on debugging), and it froze at Stage 2. How do i fix this, and what could cause it?
Im not sure if the cable im using is a charging cable ,or a data cable. i didnt think it would matter, but anyway, how can i tell, and would this cause it?
When i tried the quickbootroot, i opened the .bat file, the disclaimer came up, i hit [y] and enter, and it just went away- nothing happened...
I also ran the usb drivers exe on the computer (i hope this was right), and nothing happened from it neither.

Hey everyone! I would like to start off by saying that I am brand new here, and am surely going to mess up quiet alot... But here goes,
I've recently rooted my phone with a very simple guide, and it's the first device I've every rooted. So I know very little of the process of doing so, (I'm learning slowly).
I also have found a rom that I would like to install, but I would love to know if others think it seems legit? If it is real, I know many people would absolutely love to use it! The rom's URL is (ht tp:// playfuldroidz.com /wiki/ CyanogenMod_10_Motion) (Please remove spaces, sorry as I said i'm new...)
Now I don't mind testing this myself, but being as new as I am at android I honestly do not know how to follow the relatively simple instructions.
(This Is where I need some help, Please be noob cautious!)
Download the .zip & copy to phone or sdcard (make sure 4g or wifi is enabled if dl'd from phone).
Zip can be installed from either internal or external sd in CWM (Which ever you copied it too!)
MAKE A BACKUP!!!
DO A FACTORY RESET!!! - this will wipe data & cache!
Go to install zip from sdcard
Choose zip from sdcard
Select cm-10-xxxxxxxxxx-UNOFFICIAL-l0.zip
Confirm
Repeat Steps 5 -8 for gapps
Reboot
Now my first question I'd love some help with, is how do I perform this backup there talking about? do they just mean my simple go into settings and click backup? Or should I do it some otherway?
Second question: Do they mean the phones built in service of factory reset?
Third Question: To install a Zip from an SD card do I need to simply use ES file explorer, or root file browser? Or is there a custom way to install a Zip file on android?
Fourth and final Question: What is gapps..? Is this something I should get or use?
EDIT: I've got a fifth one also... Thanks to anyone who's stayed this long and is willing to help me.! Will this Cyanogen mod (If working) Work almost exactly like a real nexus Operating system? I've got a nexus 7 tablet running stock android, and I love it! That's why I'm doing this to my phone honestly.

Question 1,2 and 3.. they are all done through Clockworkmod. Look through the menus you'll see it if you still struggle look on YouTube.
Question 4.. gapps is Google Apps you need to flash this after the ROM to get the play store and all the other standard Google apps.
Question 5.. in your eyes pretty much, it'll look the same but with more features obviously.

(Edit) I don't think there is a clockwork mod for my device... According to the Rom Manager app I was told to use for installing it.

If you did what it said in the instructions *root it, cwm, install custom rom* then after installing the custom rom it has it's own cwm. turn off the phone, turn in back home and press the back and home button together at the same time and it should take you to the rom's cwm. If the phone does a factory reset by pressing the back and home button then you did the installation wrong.
But just in case I'll setup a full instruction for you.
Root your phone.
Which can be done easily, just download this and extract the files: http://www.mediafire.com/?dhdbwflnl1vknx2
once you extract the files put your phone on debugging mode which can be done by going to settings, developer mode, and click usb debug.
once you've done that connect your phone to the pc *make sure it's on charge only* wait for driver installation to finish. once that's done click root. follow instructions on the screen it shouldn't be too hard! after following instructions you should be rooted and have cwm. but to install the recovery go to your apps and find lte 2nd init recovery and then click the top button, agree to super su to use it and you're done with rooting and cwm! now. these files you were talking about, download them and put them on sd which can be done with a file manager. after they've downloaded go to the lte 2nd init and click the bottom button. it will reboot the phone and take you to cwm. While you are in cwm click on the home button to go to external which is the sd, then go to backup and restore, and click backup! this is very important. miss this step and things could go bad. Now all you have to do is follow the instructions you posted yourself and you should be done! if you need any help don't hesitate to message me. I've done this for a long time now.
Whoops forgot to add. the website IS a reliable source. Learned that cause I'm a risk taker and decided to try it out myself. and do not use rom manager or anything like that for recovery. ever. especially on phones that do not have their own recovery mode. also. the CM10 works great in my opinion! But there's a catch. for me at least. even though everything is perfect during phone calls I cannot use my 4g. which is a bad thing for me cause I need it. other than that if that doesn't bother you or anything or don't have service then knock yourself out and install the cm10!

COMPLETED) This mod worked, all things are now finished except one small issue!
So after installing the mod with some great help of someone here on this forums, I've been basically beta testing the mod for a few days. I have nearly no complaints, as almost everything works seemlessly just like you'd except the operating system to. In the end I found one single issue though, which is terribly annoying for me in specific...
My GPS isn't working, which could be one of many things other than the rom. Seeing as I only recognized It yesterday, there may be an outside reason it at random shut off. If anyone know's what can cause this, and a fix for it please comment back!

Please help me with the rom
Hey guys not sure if i am suppose to post this here but i couldnt find any where else and i couldnt find an answer with my exact problem, i installed this rom on my moms lg motion and everything went find untill i got to gapps it came up with an error inside of cwm so i just contined all the other flashes i had to do and rebooted i thought that i could just flash gapps later. But i mad a very big booboo i installed the Recovery APK for it in cm 10 i forgot all about pressing reboot and saying reboot into revocovery so i was going to try it though the Recovery APK so i installed the thing and pressed reboot and instead of taking me into recovery it takes me to a screen that says something like "mourning call error" which i dont know what means but i had to take out the battery and turn the phone back on so that worked and i got back to the home screen but i still cant install gapps so she can use all the google sevices i tried rebooting with the built in reboot into recovery (the one that you press reboot when you hold the power button) and that does the same exact thing i have no way of flashing gapps or anything else for that matter can someone please help me i have no idea what to do. everything i working on the phone but that. thank you sorry if i put this in the wrong place.

I rooted my lgms770 with version f firmware- installed cwm and 2ndinit recovery (2nd init was the only known way (to me anyway) to get into cwm at the time) followed this guide ---

I've tried multiple versions of the official LG Firmware flash, from the website, and by following this guide-
AOKP Dirty Unicorns baseless port cm10 - Android Forums Actually, its the unicorns that got me.
With no luck there. I am running Mint16, and had to run the programs through Wine of course, then tried Q4wine, and eventually tried running though Oracle VM, and finally, I wiped my ancient dell of Linux altogether and put WinXP back on it (took 2 hours, that). No cigar. And yes, I did the drivers, all in order, etc, tried again, reinstalled etc
I finally set up adb to try to get into this droid that way, but am having problems with port permissions (I'm going to guess that's on my pc's end-running Mint16)
I can access the factory reset screen (the black and white), download mode, and the battery charges on a black screen with a nice purple font, but I am still stuck in a bootloop. I've employed all known button spamming combos to get back into cwm (there is a nandroid in there somewhere)..but alas...

I had the purple letters with no way to get to the factory reset screen i just used the lg online flash tool in upgrade recovery put in the imei of the phone in made sure the phone was in usb download mode then it was fixed but for some odd reason i still cant get my phone to the factory reset option. I apologize sincerely if I wasn't detailed enough if you need any clarification on it then let me know through pm or i could even send u a link to my box folder i keep the install files in.
(Also i have a one click root app for the LGMS770 So if you or anyone would like the link i would be happy to give it to you)

[Q] Help with Sprint ZTE Flash N9500 and Bin4ry's root toolkit

Everything seems to go good and the script completes, but no root or Superuser installed. I've tried both Option 1 and 3.
Edit: I've tried redownloading as well and it doesnt fix the missing folder issue.

Anyone had any experience with this device?

The first one I rooted worked fine. But the second one I did had the same problem. I actually downloaded SuperSu after rooting and everything works. It seems like the script didn't finish all the way. But it did work in the end.

Not sure how I did it, but after hours of tinkering I got it to work.

Agreed, I wish we could get a developer community on this phone. Only thing I miss about my old Optimus S is there were plenty of ROMs available

Yeah I've been finding that story since the day it popped up while searching! A custom rom would be nice, but I'm just at least looking to upgrade to jellybean while keeping my root (ota rootkeeper shall work to do that as long as it isn't a complete /system partition wipe, but just installs over it as it says) either way I'm sure there's still some exploit or some way to root again regardless on the newer jellybean OS for the ZTE n9500 aka Flash (I rooted via the remount timing issue exploit, it might still not be fixed even in the version they're upgrading us too)
I also find its hard to find roms for it as it's called the 'flash' lol and that's common with 'flash a rom' etc rather than a specific phone so I've had a little better luck using ZTE n9500 though still not enough to find a rom or stock rom any recovery or anything for it... also because there's a similar title phone called the 'STAR n9500' so ugghh... it is frustrating looking for stuff on this particular device
I got an update notification, that a update was available, about a week after that article started surfacing around the net. but I can't seem to download the update for some reason... someone who has the ZTE Flash n9500 get OTA Snatcher and upload the update.zip for me and others please!
The signed (I think right?) update.zip to upgrade us to jellybean should be in the ~/cache folder or /cache (["~/" for some reason on android refers to the root rather than the /home/user/ directory])
Also it doesn't seem clear which version exactly we are getting it's just 4.1.x, so someone who's updated already can clarify that for us, and please upload the update.zip and to a good number of mirrors ! thank you!

I haven't gotten a notification for the update at all. Shame I won't be able to enjoy JB in it's finest though cause i've already cracked the screen :/. Luckily I got TEP.

I haven't either. But I have faith. I just wish this phone was a little more popular.

I got an update notification, that a update was available, about a week after that article started surfacing around the net. but I can't seem to download the update for some reason... someone who has the ZTE Flash n9500 get OTA Snatcher and upload the update.zip for me and others please!
The signed (I think right?) update.zip to upgrade us to jellybean should be in the ~/cache folder or /cache (["~/" for some reason on android refers to the root rather than the /home/user/ directory])
Also it doesn't seem clear which version exactly we are getting it's just 4.1.x, so someone who's updated already can clarify that for us, and please upload the update.zip and to a good number of mirrors ! thank you!

I hope there are some testers. I would but I had already returned mine once. Now I would have to pay the deductible if I mess it up again.

I could test. I got 4.1.2 running..

[Q] Red triangle error while entering into recovery on lg e455

HI,
First of all im new to this android world.
I brought LG E455 two months ago and i rooted it successfully by using a chiana tool
and replaced the super user of china version into english version.
But when i tried to install any custom rom or even if i try to enter into boot recovery using the command "adb reboot recovery"
i end up seeing a red triangle over an android symboll..
how to solve this?
Is it possible for my device to install custom roms?

Just to clarify, is this what you are seeing?

If so you probably need to reflash your recovery.

Im very thankful for your reply.
The image u posted is the exact error im getting. even i tried by going into cwm recovery and i ended up seeing the same symbol.
As i say im new to this android world. can u please sugesst me how to reflash my recovery step wise.

I apologize, my previous advice was generic for any phone. After looking in to your model I did not see any custom recoveries available for it, nor have I found anyone claiming to have a custom recovery running.
Can you post a link to the recovery that you flashed? Obviously it was not from the ClockworkMod site: clockworkmod.com/rommanager as there is no official recovery for your model. Of course, you might have found an unofficial testing version somewhere else. If so let me know and I will help you look into reflashing it.

uptill now i only tried to set my phone into recovery by using the command "adb reboot recovery" only
since there is no official recovery for my model.

I could not find any. To my knowledge, it is not possible to flash anything but stock firmware to your phone, nor are there any recoveries aside from the one already on it.
Your phone is not too old, so someone might still develop a custom recovery and eventually 3rd party ROMs. However, it is worth noting that might never happen. If you wish to flash ROMs and such, it is generally a good idea to purchase a more popular device. More users = more devs = more customizations made.

You are welcome. Does it claim to be incompatible with your device? It might not be able to physically work on your chipset, which means it will not work on your phone unless the devs release an update. If you would like to purchase it anyways just to try it out, you can download a modified Play Store APK that removes device/region restrictions. I have not used such an APK, so I cannot help much beyond linking you to the last one I saw featured here on XDA. That is a pretty old Play Store, so you might Google around to see if you can find a newer version like version 4.x or so. While I have not had much success with the application personally, Lucky Patcher might be able to remove the region/device checks from your current Play Store. If none of those options work, the only route left is illegitimate and not spoken of here.

Hi,
Today i accidently switched on my mobile by holding volume UP + Quick access button + Power button
I ended up seeing LG logo and recovery mode at the left bottom......
but the whatever i do i didnt responded. Is there any luck for this behaviour of my phone to enter into a recovery mode????

Hey Axims,
I`m also ended up on a dead end for this problem.
But yesterday i accidentally switched on my mobile by holding volume UP + quick access button + Power Button. I`m entered into recovery mode but i cant use that mode its only allows LG service representatives to use. Do u know anything about it??????...
It would gives us a clue to enter into our recovery...

Hmm, I'm becoming more and more suspicious that it's just a mock screen and not a real recovery.
otherwise, why we can't enter it?
why lg is so tight lipped about it?
some senior member here tried couple of days helping me make a cwm for it. he was always
complaining about the odd size of boot.img and recovery.img that something is not right there.
maybe he's right and lg screwed us . who knows
