Is there a way to make a TWRP backup from my PC? My screen is completely broken and I'm getting a new xt926 today and would like to have a new backup.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
If your computer has an hdmi hookup.

Is that the only way? Could I do a CWM without hdmi? or any nandroid backup?
Well if you can see the screen then do it that way.

I know this is a few days old, but have you considered installing AirDroid and then using ROM Manager to make a backup? I think that would allow you to do it over a "remote desktop".

my brother has a xoom tablet and he just bought an asus tf300. Im trying to transfer all of his apps and app data to his new tablet but his xoom does not have root access or an unlocked bootloader. I usually used Titanium Backup to do this but seeing I dont have root that is not going to work for me. I know how to root it but I dont want to wipe all of his stuff. is there anyway to backup all of his stuff to an sd card or pc in order to transfer it to his new tablet on a locked xoom with no root? its running HC. Thanks

From Honeycomb, no.
From ICS, possibly http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420351 but I haven't heard of anyone on a Xoom getting it to work successfully (your mileage may vary.)
And as far as I know there is no way of rooting it while it still has the locked bootloader.

Should be able to restore to any 4.0 device afaik, tho I would refrain from restoring the system applications onto any device other than a xoom.

Based on the thread I originally pointed you at I have the following question: did you have a backup password set in developer options before you took the backup? If so, then I'm sorry, I don't have any other ideas for you. I personally don't have any way to currently try it myself to see if I can get it to work.

thanks for your help. I didnt put a password on the backup and i could not restore the .ab file to my other tablet. I backed up my internal memory and unlocked the bootloader, installed CWM and rooted it. I restored the .ab file to the xoom, backed up my apps in Titanium Backup and transferred the TB folder to my new tablet and restore it that way.....thanks again
Hi, can you backup using TWRP on the ATT One X to do a Nandroid backup to your computer?
The One X has so little space, and I don't want to be saving it on my phone.
Thank you!
I don't think so mate, pretty sure you can only back it up to the phone.
There's nothing stopping you from copying it to the PC afterwards though and then deleting it.

I guess you could make the backup then place it on your computer. You would need to find the nandroid at sdcard>TWRP>backups>randomcharacters>(backupname)
Never tried so I'm not sure if you can successfully restore it later but makes sense

First time rooting, I've been using Android for just over 2 years, first a Galaxy S, then Droid Incredible 2 (For about 2 weeks, sound was awful), then a Droid X2 for the last year and a half.
I received my Razr Maxx HD on Tuesday, I just rooted using the OLD method (I saw the Update from Verizon, but did NOT apply it).
Mod seems to have worked, I have the Superuser application on my phone.
I found a thread about "What to do next" after you've Rooted. It was mentioned to use hellcatdroid, but the thread was on Samsung, and the app talked about Samsung. So, I've searched this site about EFS under Razr HD, no luck.
Is there a program to backup the EFS folder on a Motorola? The closest I found was talking about restoring an IEMI number.
Finally, is there a Next Steps for rooting a Razr HD MAXX?
Thanks in advance!

What you need to fix is the pds folder/partition. Motorola androids don't have efs folders/partition the equivalent is pds folder/partition. I have the same problem currently and im trying to fix i just learned what i told you today. When i fix it i will pm you instructions.

YOU WILL LOSE EVERTHING EVEN ROOT
Just sbf
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/vanquish/list.php (CDMA)
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/vanquish_u/list.php (GSM)
And use rsd lite
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348587
Or you can restore using fastboot files not sure how to do that.

Perhaps my question was misunderstood. I don't currently have a problem, I'm just looking to prevent any problems and provide a restore if needed.
It sounds as though the programs you listed are to repair a problem is that correct?
Thanks in advance

yes it will repair it, i have a razr and a razr hd and the thing with the razr is with bootstrap recovery you can simply back up your current system just like other recoveries so in case its damaged you can restore it. I assumed you didn't back it up and you needed a way to fix it.
So my AT&T One X has touchscreen problems (apparently it's a very common issue) and a new one is on the way. I want to have my new phone setup as quickly as possible with the exact same settings as my current phone, so what is the easiest way to go about this?
I want to have my homescreen the exact way too.
I am running the stock ROM and the phone is not rooted. I'm thinking of using My Backup Pro but if there are other ways I would appreciate it.
Try doing on online nandroid: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1620255
I've never tried it myself, but it's worth a shot

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't want to go through the hassle of rooting my phone (tried it once before didn't work)

You're going to have a rough go with this without root, and a cumbersome one, I'm guessing.
EDIT: Btw, a normal nandroid and restore would be the best option in my opinion. You'd make a nandroid as you normally would, then just transfer the backup folder to the SD of the new device and restore. Nothing else would be required; it'd put everything exactly as it was on the old device.

Clockworkmod is unsupported so this would be a bad example
Op, doing this without root is near impossible
You could do an adb backup to backup your apps and data but that's it

you can defiantly go back, i just dont know what will happen as far as twrp is concerned.
seems like at some point you would have a compatibility issue with the old software and the new twrp.
but i never tried it, therefore i didnt post to help you with inaccurate information.
there is a guide in my sig (skip down to the relevant parts), that will get you back to jb, but it is a proven method and doesnt involve restoring any backups.
Thanks for the response. I saw the guide. I'm just not that familiar with rsd. Thought restoring an old backup would be much simpler if it would work.

You can't restore an old backup. You can flash back to stock JB, but at that point, you cannot use any of the old ROMs as they need the old JB bootloader, which is now running the KK bootloader. That is in a trusted partition that you cannot downgrade at all. So, trying to use old JB-based ROMs will no longer work. So, if you were planning on going back to a JB-based custom ROM, it won't work from what I know once you have upgrade to KK.
But, if you want to go back to stock JB, then yes, that is possible.
You can use SamuriHL's RSD Flasher (which is in beta) -> http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/48904-rsd-flasher-beta-windows-only/
Or, you can use his House of Moto tool which is here -> http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/28162-house-of-moto-25/
He lists the instructions in both posts, so read, read and re-read a third time before you even attempt to flash back to JB. Three readings usually causes the light bulb to finally go off and it ensures you understand everything. If at that point you don't understand, then ask questions (and be sure you state you read it three times). Usually, people who do read three times figure it out and have no issues.
That's your only option at this point or stay on KK.
So there's no way to go back to the JB bootloader?

Like i said, no. It's in a trusted zone. You'll still have the KK bootloader installed, but you'll be able to flash back to stock JB and boot that.
You might be able to make it work, but as @bweN diorD stated, it's not a proven method to flash back to old ROMs nor use old nandroid backups.
I myself use Titanium Backup Pro to backup my apps and data and that works fine.
