Hello,
A few months ago I rooted my SGA. It was all fine and everything worked great, but it tends to freeze sometimes (I'm not the only one having that problem) and it gets fairly hot too. My build.prop is edited a little and my framework is also patched.
I could reset everything to default by using the apk backups and undoing the changes in my build.prop file, but I'd rather start from scratch and reflash the stock rom.
How can I take a backup image of this state of my phone and reset it back to default?
Also, I only rooted my phone, so the bootloader is still locked.
These are my builds etc:

Well, install a kernel with CWM included, and do a backup on your SD card.
After that, you can simply take the card out, and use Odin to install a fresh JB.
If you have questions, post them here.
Good luck!

First I'm going to try a regular factory reset. Not sure if it fixes some problems but it might do. I'll keep you updated.

I did a factory reset and reverted my old SystemUI.apk and everything is pretty smooth now. Thanks

Is XXLQE firmware smooth..or Ddupl8 is preferred?
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda app-developers app
would prefer ddulp8 (dont tried this fw). XXLQE is only smooth if you install a custom kernel like cocore ... without it have too much lags (freezing while watching videos etc)...

all the firmwares have some lags. You should install the one (if exists) coresponding to your country, root, install a custom kernel (I recommend CoCore) and uninstall or at least freeze bloatware apps.
I have for 6 months the russian LQ4, and is working great. Waiting for a stable CM or MIUI

I run XXLQE and it has its flaws, but it's pretty stable and works great.

Ugh. My phone is freezing again and becoming unresponsive. I really need to flash Cyanogenmod or something. It's really annoying if you're attacking someone in a game and your phone freezes. Ugh. Anyone any suggestions or something?

If your Phone is rooted, you can try CM10.1
Or, HarshJelly...
If you will be more specific about your problems, I might have a better advice!

My phone is rooted, yes.
Well.. after I rooted (back in June or May, can't remember) my phone started lagging a lot. Suddenly like when watching a video or playing a game, my device starts stuttering and touch becomes unresponsive (it happens at the randomest times). When I press the power button or the home key for example, the actions happen 30 seconds to a minute later. Screen tends to go black too. Using the app 'Fast Reboot' the problems are solved. It's really darn annoying to have a phone that doesn't do what you command.
Thanks

Well, if you are rooted, I strongly sugest you to do the following:
-install custom kernel (cocore is your best bet) - it will give you custom recovery, and that's awesome.
-install Titanium Backup and freeze or uninstall bloatware (there is somewhere around a list of safe apps to delete)
-install Greenify apps and hibernate not often used apps.
If you have questions, don't be shy and ask.

Warning: Cocore is working only on stock ROM. If you want to install on Cyanogenmod, it will brick your phone. The safest way to flash CoCore is to install the app Universal Kernel Flash. You will find it around here.
Cyanogenmod is ok as it is, with a fee bugs, and best nightly seems to be that one from 28th of September.
I was on stock for 7 months using cocore as kernel and it was ok. Now I have Paul's PAC ROM. Good, except battery life.
Good luck!

Oh! Good you told me! So if I want to flash Cyanogenmod, what should I do? I don't really know if there are other kernels, compatible with other roms, that provide CWM.

To flash Cyanogenmod:
- install Universal Kernel Flash to easy flash CoCore (you will gain CWM recovery in this way).
- flash CoCore that works for your phone (Cocore E for GT-I9070 or Cocore EP for GT-I9070P).
- reboot and see if everything is ok.
- download Cyanogenmod and Google apps from the link provided in its thread and put them in your sd card.
- boot into CWM recovery.
- make a full system backup (if something will end badly you can always restore your backup).
- wipe cache, dalvik and system from CWM.
- install ZIP from CWM (meaning flash Cyanogenmod).
- install google apps
- reboot, wait a little (around 5 minutes), and enjoy Cyanogenmod.
If something goes wrong, reboot into CWM recovery (Cyanogenmod's kernel have CWM), and restore your backup.
Good luck, mate!

hey guys I picked up a gt-p3113 at a pawn shop yesterday for 50 dollars...
I am not new to xda but new to this device...
anyway I have been reading in here since then downloaded odin and used cf auto root to root the device. found mobile odin lite and want to try flashing cm10.1 on it.
where I am getting hung up at is in the tutorial it says install clockwork recovery . I believe this is kinda like a loader for recovery?
I went to the website to download cwm and realized quick I didntknow what I was doing. which file do I get and how do I flash it?
or am I wrong in my understanding that I even need this.
I apologize I am aware it is all here somewhere and I have read alot on it I just dont want to destroy this device. unfortunately since this device has had alot of work done xda is overwhelming. I am sure in a few weeks I will be caught up
thanks guys any help is appreciated.

one more question... battery life on this device drains quick in comparison to our kindle fire hd. will another rom help hattery life? if it makes it worse I am relatively content with stock.
I just feel like I bought a computer at walmart and have a bunch of software and processes I do not want. instead of a clean install.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda app-developers app
Well for one, i'd use the desktop version of Odin, if you look on the development section, you should be able to find , for ex, Cf Autoroot, to flash via odin, and after that, flash an odin package for CWM recovery, remember to do a full NANDROID backup after this, just incase.. they're both extremely quick and simple to do, but you must follow each guide to the very last detail, as any mistakes can lead to a $50 paperweight, btw, awesome deal on your tab, 50 is pretty sweet! On the topic of ROMs, there are handfuls of ROMs built off of stock source, either debloated roms, or roms like Sungsonic, there are also Kernels/boot images, if its stock source, keep to stock intended kernels and boot images, as CM or AOKP kernels WILL NOT WORK.

Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda app-developers app
you'll be able to go into cwm recovery and make a full backup of your current rom, kernel etc...and remember, before flashing, factory reset in cwm, clear cache and dalvik, flash ROM, clean cache and dalvik again, the flash any other enhancements, personally, I'm using AOKP Milestone 1, 4.1.2, AOKP kernel, overclocked, my device can handle 1.42ghz (1420mhz) stable, i have it undervolted to save battery, and have my gpu overclocked when i game or bench, also using Beats Audio/Noozxoide to get some sickkkk sound out of the Wolfson DAC, never had ANY device that compares to the sound quality in this thing Happy flashing!

Sorry for keeping coming back to questions.... so ive been reading the cm10.1 nightly thread and it says boot into cwm then flash cm10.1 and then gapps.zip do I do this from odin or cwm
edit says move it to sdcard so cwm.... still tad confused ill look n yotube for a video explaining it

Its okay , you have to do this in CWM, you can download the google apps package for your version of android from Goo.im, make sure you get the package thats for your version of android, then place the zip files of the rom and gapps in your microSD or internal, if using internal, flash zips from sd in cwm, if in microsd, flash zips from external in cwm, start with the rom, factory reset, clear cache, advanced, clean dalvik, flash the rom, clean cache and dalvik again, flash the gapps, clean cache and dalvik, then reboot, ALWAYS leave your tab after it boots for 10 minutes , after 10 minutes, reboot it, leave it for another 5, reboot again, then use, this gives the device time to do some first time running operations

okay files downloaded, device is at 50 percent batt life so will charge first, worst case scenario I should be able to flash using odin back to stock corect? I have no desire to reflash kernels from stock at this point... usually I take my time and do my homework better on these devices but this one fell into my lap. and well im impatient.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda app-developers app
As long asyou dont cause some freak of nature hard brick that stops you from entering download mode on your tab (holding power and vol down) you'll be able to use stock image from Sammobile to return to stock, you can flash it using odin , and dont worry, i had my tab for 3 days and it already pretty much had chrome spinners, i was impatient too, came from an Acer Iconia A100, so its a little learning curve, but overall, pretty good

I've never attempted a dirty flash. Color me fastidious. I've always done a full wipe/clean flash and never had any problems.
I just read, though, that I can dirty flash v6 of the Avatar ROM. Since I'm on V3, I figured I'd give it a go.
Do I just boot into recovery and flash the ROM zip file?
What about Gapps?
Once I do it the dirty way, will I ever go back to my old ways? LOL

Dirty flash typically works if you are upgrading between very similar firmwares with no framework changes, database changes, or other major differences. Sounds like V3 to V6 has some "major differences"

Actually, I simply hook my USB up to my Infuse, copy my zip to my external SD, reboot into recovery mode, run the appropriate wipes first, then run the zip. Voila.
What do you mean by "run my zip"? You're not referring to the zip for the ROM, right? A Tibu zip?
Just looking for any shortcuts that work...

I assume you've gone through the steps of rooting, getting CM recovery installed, etc. Once past all that, it's simple to load up any mod (run any zip).

Thanks for putting up with questions from a self educating non techie guy.
When you do a clean install, once you flash the ROM zip, how do go about restoring all your apps? I've tried a dozen different things but am wondering if there are any easier ways to restore my 100+ apps.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
If you move your apps to your sdcard first, you should be able to restore the data (not guaranteed). If you are doing any cloud backup, that will definitely help.
I copied my music, pictures, etc., to my external sd care (simply via USB). That took care of that. There is also Titanium Backup, but I'm not sure how well it safeguards if you're unrooted. However, it's one killer product, and there are many here who can chime in on how well it does before rooting.
However, wish I could say I did things perfectly there, but when I went from Gingerbread to Jellybean, I lost all my records on my aCar app (and had been keeping all fill-up and service records for almost a year). So I learned the hard way.

Titanium Backup. When restoring, you can restore apps, games and data. I only restore data for games, not apps. In general, don't restore system data. That can/will cause things to FC, giving a false impression there's bugs. You can also backup call and text logs to avoid losing them. I also have well over 100 apps and games myself, and it takes no more than an hour to recover from a full wipe and clean install of a update or new rom. It's because of that that I always do a clean install. Then you get the best out of your rom. A dirty flash is only good for 2 reasons. To try a new update with the expectation of restoring a nandroid backup, or if you're lazy and don't mind "bugs".
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Xparent Blue Tapatalk 2
You can also use carbon for backing up apps, even unrooted. It was made by the guy that made the original CWM, and it will let you choose where to back them up. Even has an option to backup to PC using the carbon PC app. I use both it and titanium personally, can never be too careful if you have several apps

While on topic, are you guys able to mount USB storage in recovery? It's broken in v2.7.0 for me it seems.

Ok, results of my testing. Out of the box, extremely quick and snappy, extremely responsive, extremely stable (couldn't really break it or get it to crash). While CM10.2 and Carbon have handled my apps and games pretty well, this rom has that missing "umph" that makes them shine and enjoyable again (had kernel set to ondemand/row). Battery usage was slightly better than what I was expecting for the test period when compared to other roms that I have ran on a trial run (about 6% usage for the 90 minutes I was testing).
That being said, I ran into one issue that I could not resolve no matter what I tried to do to remedy the problem. The internal storage would not mount/could not be found (does show up in TWRP 2.6.1 and 2.7.0, just not in this rom). This unfortunately is a deal breaker atm for me because some of my apps that I use heavily require the internal storage.
Other than that, I dare say this may be the fastest of the feature loaded roms I've ever touched without running a custom kernel. I'd love to test this again with a fix when I have "play" time again and even make it my DD, because I honestly must say that I'm in LOVE with this rom. :good::good: :victory:

Ok, results of my testing. Out of the box, extremely quick and snappy, extremely responsive, extremely stable (couldn't really break it or get it to crash). While CM10.2 and Carbon have handled my apps and games pretty well, this rom has that missing "umph" that makes them shine and enjoyable again (had kernel set to ondemand/row). Battery usage was slightly better than what I was expecting for the test period when compared to other roms that I have ran on a trial run (about 6% usage for the 90 minutes I was testing).

You are both correct. I cannot see my sdcard either. Thanks for the feedback and will look into a fix.
Could the internal storage issue be tied to the problems with CM10.2 post 9/4? Just a thought...

I actually haven't tried to restore anything yet. Was that from an old backup or one created in 2.7.0? I'll look into it and if I come across any issues I will revert back to 2.6.1.0. Thanks.
Edit: Just created a backup. Rebooted. Performed a full wipe. Restored the backup with no issues. This was to and from my sdcard.

For me, I had made a backup with 2.6.1.0 and when I tried to restore using 2.7 it failed. I'm gonna try re-backing with 2.7 and see if it restores.
On another note, flashed this and all seems to be good. Thanks for another great ROM Toyes

There was no ROM for the new update so I tried my hand at it. It's rooted and has busybox.
Credits/Acknowledgments:
Scrosler (I used his updater script)
Hyelton for the kdz
Bullghost for making a kickass kdz extractor
When flashing it takes a while at formatting so don't freak out. Make sure to wipe Dalvik and Cache after you flash.
Not responsible for anything! Use at your own risk!
NO REQUESTS! I'M NOT GOING TO DEODEX, DEBLOAT, OR INVERT APPS, ETC... PLEASE DON'T ASK
Pay no mind to icons, there are ones I made for myself, the ROM is stock.

I was doing this from my desktop PC, originally with IE and was told I was outdated. So, I tried Chrome, was told I was outdated (IE was intentionally outdated as I do not like subsequent versions, but Chrome is up to date).
Each option required updating, and when I hovered over one of the suggested browsers, "download" appeared, and when clicked, I was brought to the browsers' update pages.
I saw no "close" to choose (unless you were talking about mobile version), and closing a PC browser's window did not result in the start of a download.
There is not anything (that I can think of, at the moment), that is worth going through hoops for. I still have my Tytung ROM-based HTC HD2, now at 4.4.2 if I need an fix update. I can wait on the G2, as I am pretty pleased with it (D80110c) out of the box, after rooting it. Will wait for LG's KitKat, as I am, so far, underwhelmed by existing KitKat releases so far.
It could be that LG simply did a great job on their own...

is this update not coming via OTA if you're rooted??
Is it only for store-bought black G2s? I ordered my white one from T-Mobile over the phone.
my software info is currently
android 4.2.2
baseband M8974A-AAAANAZM-1.0.190034
kernel 3.4.0
build JDQ39B
software D80110c
I have TWRP custom recovery installed also, did that possibly prevent me from receiving an OTA update?

You're right, it doesn't boot at all. Goes straight back to TWRP everytime. Clean install here too. System, data, and cache wipe.

Try wiping data only after the install.
And to answer the other guys question, this isnt a OTA, its a release that LG did via the update tool. Kind of like what Samsung did with the tmobile s2 and 4.1.

Sorry yes... I did say I was using Firefox.
It pops up to install the "Mega Firefox extension"... I clicked close and the DL went on without issue.
After the DL reached 100%, the norm save file window popped up to save where I'll like.

Doesn't sound like hoops to me (I have Firefox, too). Worth a try, I suppose, but I might choose to wait anyway, what, with all the posts about not getting beyond TWRP. Thanks, fishman.
Booted fine for me, restore your backup and flash over but do not wipe system/data, only Dalvik/cache.
I'll mirror this somewhere for people having issues...

FAQ
Q Why a special Q&T Thread for a specific ROM??
A The bigger a ROM development thread gets, the greater the chance that posts are being placed in this thread that are not related to the ROM development itself, e.g. problems with flashing, installation, bugs, things not working etc. However this is understandable, it's not according to the guidelines of XDA for Development sections (see rule number 15 of posting in a Dev's thread). Therefore the main goals of the ROM specific Q&T threads is to avoid this cluttering of the original develpment thread with these OT posts by redirecting the posters to the ROM specific Q&T thread and also to relieve the developer from answering these post, so he can dedicate his time to developing.
Q Where can I download this ROM and How do I install?
A You can find the link to download and installation instructions HERE. Pay close attention to this post, everything required for a successful flash is listed right here. If you fail to follow the instructions or meet the requirements for installation, you could run into some problems.
Q What are the known issues with these ROM's?
A Nothing known yet
Q How’s battery life?
A I see this question asked repeatedly across all ROMS. Honestly there is no way to give you an answer based on a ROM. There are too many variables in question and results vary from user to user and device to device. Battery life is going to depend on age and condition of your battery, your use habits with your device, installed apps, tweaks, settings, etc...
Q How do I...
A Ask your questions and report your issues in this thread. You will receive a response and hopefully get you back up and running this ROM to it's fullest

Did you grab the md5 files and put them in the same directories with their counterparts? Also, did you NOT grab the inverted versions? If you have the md5 files and verified they were good then you wouldn't even be able to flash the files if they were bad. You do have a tf101? I've been using the rom for a couple days and after a clean wipe and reboot it is working fine for me. It even restored my apps for me. It's got to be something on your end.

You may have to use BRK's root toolkit to nvflash back to stock first so you can root and install custom recoveries. Then once you have twrp in place again, you'll have to start from scratch, following directions in first post of the rom thread.

What recovery are you using and what gapps? What process did you use? Are you also downloading the md5 file to the same folder with the ROM? It will tell you right away if you have a bad download as it won't even let you flash if the md5 doesn't match. All I can say is that it worked perfect for me, so give the requested details and we'll see if we can figure it out.

Yes, but I don't know what those versions are. I need you to state what recovery and what version and also which gapps you are using. I also need to know what process you used in attempting to flash the ROM. Without these, I can't be much help. It works or I wouldn't have posted it. It may not have worked for you and if you supply me the right information, I may be able to help. Otherwise, all I know to say is try to download it again and follow the instructions in the first post of the ROM thread, making sure you are using TWRP-2.6.3.10 version recovery and the mini-modular gapps package from the link there.
I'm using those both versions, the roms before This One. works well

Hi
congrats on a well working rom
im very new to rom and stuff, and so far the best rom i ve tired for tf101
now my issue is with some function keys dont work by default if it might be possible to make docking keyboard function keys like wifi, mute, touch disabling ... to work?
volume, brightness works
and is there a way to have some native-stock rom applications already installed on this?
and also was wonderign if it is possible to disable the battery getting charged from docking battery or not, via software?
thanks in advance, this is by far the best rom ive come up with, all the others had issues ...
