Offline maps and Latitude got removed.
Looking on Google I can't get why they remove some cool stuff from their products?
First ugly market, then reader, now maps...

I can´t post links yet, so remove the spaces: htt ps://support .google.com/ gmm/answer /2449492?hl=en
You can type "OK maps" in to the search bar to cache the currently viewed tiles though, so they didn't completely remove the offline maps functionality.

there you go
Dear Mapping community,
The offline maps feature is not included in today’s release of the new Google Maps app (version 7.0) for Android.
We know a lot of you love offline maps, and we've included a special feature hidden in the app that allows you to pre-load an area of the map you need offline simply by going to that area in the app and typing “OK Maps” in the search box (or speaking “OK Maps” into your Android device). That area will then be pre-loaded to your device cache and accessible when you don’t have a connection. Just return to that area of the map, and it will be available to you.

What's up with Google lately taking away features rather than maintaining them or introducing new ones. First Google Talk (Hangout) and now this.
I'm impartial to the new UI design, I guess I need to give it some time to get used to it. However, taking away some of the key features hurts. For example, there is no way now to view an alternate route while already following an existing one...you need to cancel the navigation and go back to the previous screen. WHY? That was #1 best feature in original Google Maps. URGH.
Why not
why not version for android 4.0 ???

Hi Guys !
I don't know if this against copyrights or not .
But can anyone make some kind of edit to the google maps app to allow offline maps for the full country ? instead of this annoying cache via Wifi !
or make other app that uses offline database of Google maps and will be great if in satellite (google Earth ) view also ...
I just keep wondering why till now google doesn't allow downloading offline maps ? even in a paid version !!!
the latest Update removed the tiny feature of downloading some offline areas .
Now it is currently unavailable for me to make any offline maps ..

I just use Navfree app and download the maps for offline by state, free and like a gps but doesn't have all the google stuff though.
I use osmand to download maps before Google maps update.. It's pretty good, open source, allows for offline navigation and free.
Download Google maps outside of Google maps is breaking copyright and Google has asked people to remove it.

Needs "Voice Search for Google TV"
I've same problem as some users here... can't get voice search working in my count, Australia. From what I've read we need to install "Voice Search for Google TV", but that too is not available outside the US.
So can someone kindly upload the "Voice Search for Google TV" apk so we can side-load it to our Google TV devices.

I received an email from Charter to load their new TV App. I went to the Play Store on line and selected it. The Store said it was compatible with my Nexus 7 but not my Nexus 5. The app is not visible when I search the Play Store with my phone, confirming the on line statement. Has anyone gotten this to work on your Nexus 5? Can you side load the .apk like the T-Mobile Visual Voice Mail app?

According to the app description: "Android smartphones are NOT yet supported". I've been waiting for an app like this to come for a long time for Charter and now it arrives sort of half-assed, I'm pretty disappointed (tablet-only, home network-only (no on the road streaming)).
I downloaded the app seperately and side loaded it,it works fine on all my devices.
Can you post the apk for us please? Thanks!

1.0.5 Not Working
Downloaded the newest Charter TV (1.0.5) and go to instwll it and it says installation not complete on my LG G2. The previous version (1.0.2) works wonderfully except it does lock up and close periodically. Just wondering if we cqn get a working version of 1.0.5?

You might have to change the user agent to a tablet that is compatible with that app.
Updated 1.0.5
I updated the 1.0.5 link to a somewhat working version although the screen rotation does not work on the Note 2. So I'm back to 1.0.3, if anyone has the 1.0.4 version please post it so I can see if it works on the Note 2.

I was wondering if anyone has embraced not being reliant non Google services?
I would like to start using an Android device without any Google services on it. I'm assuming google photos will be out of the question, as will maps. So what substitute would you recommend for these two apps as well as backing up WhatsApp? Since WhatsApp currently backups to G drive. Also, are there any solutions for location sharing? I currently share my location via Google maps to family members.
Thanks.

I recently saww an article about huawei obtaining an official location based service. The app will be called HereWe Go. Ot is intended to replace google maps. I guess it will be available in the appgallery.
---------- Post added at 10:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:18 PM ----------
I believe the article said that it would include navigation and tie into HMS so location based services should be available.

Google Pay has become part of my life, and has done for the past 5 or 6 years (maybe more). I wouldnt like to live without it. Having said that I'm not sure I could even think about a smaller screen than this...
