Excellent !
Thank you!
Sometimes it seems some members here don't understand the basics of the Market: NOT ALL APPS are available in ALL countries.
So, please, don't send a link to the Android Market, it is USELESS.
We've already tried there!
nevermind everything is fixed...
hey, how to unlock navigation in other countries?
Thanks for the file...

5.2.1 pretty please if you can, has some routing issues fixed
APK 5.2.1
Yeah can someone put the 5.2.1 on here.
My market refuses to download or install Gmaps, Only when I use an APK install it works, but then it won't update via the market (the download keeps failing or not even starting)
Weird issue though since I did a full wipe after a new rom install (HTC Desire GSM, Cyanogen Nightly Build 15, s-off with Alpharev). All other google apps install just fine.
The APK should resolve this untill the next update probably :-((
The only thing I didn't try yet is a Dalvik wipe before the rom install or gapps, should I?
Any clues about how to fix this or a link to the 5.2.1. HDPI version?
Cheers
Google maps v5.2.1
Here are the attachments for Google maps, Street and My tracks. Have fun.
Offline Google Maps to work on 'all devices with Android 2.2 or higher,' 3D compatibility less clear.
We'd heard earlier that Google had "nothing to announce" in regard to Android compatibility with the newly-announced offline Maps support and 3D modeling, but look -- things change. We reached out to the company and urged 'em to dig a little deeper, only to have the following confirmed: "For offline Google Maps for Android, all devices with Android 2.2 (Froyo) and above will be supported." As for the 3D portion? "We'll have more details about device compatibility for 3D imagery on Google Earth for mobile at launch." After the event, we spotted a Googler using the 3D build on a Galaxy Nexus, so it's obvious that Android 4.0+ will be supported, but we have to assume that some of these older Froyo devices may simply lack the proper oomph needed to fly around the downtowns of [insert major metropolitan area here].

try SYGIC
But I am using SYGIC Aura with India maps and it is the best navigation app out there. Offline maps, voice navigation, Full 3D support and Great UI.
So this news from Google doesn't excite me...
interesting
wait n see!!

I also have Sygic but Google maps are going to be better than Sygic's cause its maps aren't the best around.
Nowadays you can download google maps tiles from several apps like Orux Maps, Locus, Maps- and several more. Then u can use the tiles in offline mode and navigate through them in airplane mode.
Even in current google maps app, in Labs section you can activate the option to cache a map zone in order to use the tiles in offline mode too.
Cheers... and let me say.... SUMMER IS COMIIIING
google maps with gps?
Does anyone know if the new google maps apk will support satellite gps location sources, or only online phone/google location sources? Sygic Aura has offline maps but no satellite gps capability.
In other words, will it be an full offline satellite gps map system?
we can use offline maps in current version only...
1. Open Google Maps
2. Go to Settings -> Labs
3. Click on Pre-cache map area to activate it.
4. Go to your desired place, tap and hold.
5. Tap on the area that appears and select Pre-cache map area. that's it..
enjoy offline maps :laugh::laugh::laugh:....

That's limited to the 10mile radius from where you live or where you pre-cache the maps. This is a big limitation & that's why it is not called offline maps cause after all you need internet to pre-cache the maps.
In offline maps you could store the map of the whole city you live in.
In Nokia S60, I could store the map of my state or even the whole god damn India into my SD Card. Now you decide which one is better.
Try oruxmaps or locusmaps!!!! :good:

does sygic support indonesia map?
Hi Guys !
I don't know if this against copyrights or not .
But can anyone make some kind of edit to the google maps app to allow offline maps for the full country ? instead of this annoying cache via Wifi !
or make other app that uses offline database of Google maps and will be great if in satellite (google Earth ) view also ...
I just keep wondering why till now google doesn't allow downloading offline maps ? even in a paid version !!!
the latest Update removed the tiny feature of downloading some offline areas .
Now it is currently unavailable for me to make any offline maps ..

I just use Navfree app and download the maps for offline by state, free and like a gps but doesn't have all the google stuff though.
I use osmand to download maps before Google maps update.. It's pretty good, open source, allows for offline navigation and free.
Download Google maps outside of Google maps is breaking copyright and Google has asked people to remove it.

I can´t post links yet, so remove the spaces: htt ps://support .google.com/ gmm/answer /2449492?hl=en
You can type "OK maps" in to the search bar to cache the currently viewed tiles though, so they didn't completely remove the offline maps functionality.

there you go
Dear Mapping community,
The offline maps feature is not included in today’s release of the new Google Maps app (version 7.0) for Android.
We know a lot of you love offline maps, and we've included a special feature hidden in the app that allows you to pre-load an area of the map you need offline simply by going to that area in the app and typing “OK Maps” in the search box (or speaking “OK Maps” into your Android device). That area will then be pre-loaded to your device cache and accessible when you don’t have a connection. Just return to that area of the map, and it will be available to you.

What's up with Google lately taking away features rather than maintaining them or introducing new ones. First Google Talk (Hangout) and now this.
I'm impartial to the new UI design, I guess I need to give it some time to get used to it. However, taking away some of the key features hurts. For example, there is no way now to view an alternate route while already following an existing one...you need to cancel the navigation and go back to the previous screen. WHY? That was #1 best feature in original Google Maps. URGH.
Why not
why not version for android 4.0 ???
Google maps Update to 7.0.1
http://goo.gl/O6KtA
I made this app for myself because for me it's hard to start google navigation while I'm driving after the last Google maps update.
I hope that the old interface is restored by google but in the meantime I will continue to improve this application.
Google Maps & Google voice must be installed to work.
The app is on google play with the name: SNAV google navigator launcher
this app is still in beta, when will be better optimized , I will post a version without advertising for all xda members
Now, I need your help because I don't found a solution to give all parameters to g.Maps.
my code:
Action: android.intent.action.VIEW
DataUri: google.navigation:q=
&mode=walking (work)
&mode=transit (work)
&avoid=highways (ignored by Gmaps)
&avoid=tolls (ignored by Gmaps)
I also tried with the web version command: dirflg=h..
thanks.. very useful
Thanks mate. Will check this out n uptade you.

working awesome so far...will really put it thru the paces tomorrow. Beautiful interface!
Thank you!!!!
A frontend for Google Navigation is a great workaround for the degraded user experience in Google Maps 7. Thanks for that, it's a fantastic idea!
I'm not a big fan of the glossy orange theme though. I would prefer a more sober "Holo" or "Google Now" design for the UI, while keeping the big fat buttons. Maybe you could provide an option for different themes?
Another suggestion is a way to properly navigate to a contact's address, if you can access Contacts. This is another feature that was removed from Google Maps 7.
