[Q] Super Soft Brick, can anyone help me unbrick this device. - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Today I unlocked my HOX using Hasoon2000's all in one kit. Unlocked the phone, super cid 1111111111, and rooted the phone with no problems. Once i got everything completed i attempted to install Viper XL rom onto the device through TWRP. The first time it froze during the process, so I rebooted and repeated the process. However, once i got it to work through TWRP, it started to boot up with the Viper XL boot screen and then suddenly turn off, and repeat itself. I can't get into boot loader and once plugged into my pc it simply makes the connect and disconnect sounds. Please any help at to unbrick this phone would be highly appreciated...

Have you tried flashing a different ROM?
If it's continually looping when trying to boot, hover your finger over the volume down button, then press and hold it as soon as the screen goes blank. Hopefully that'll get you into bootloader.

I can't. I'm stuck in a boot loop, where the device continuously reboots on it's own. Can't get to fastboot or the bootloader. Device isn't being found through the adb since it powers off before it can be recognized.

If the phone turns on, you can get into bootloader.
As soon as the HTC screen comes back on press and hold power until the screen goes black. When the screen goes black, let go of power and press and hold volume down until the bootloader comes up.

I actually did attempt searching through the forums, but i could not find a thread that actually helped me in my current predicament.
I am currently still S- ON, my firmware was the latest 3.18, the version of TWRP used was 2.5.0. and yes the phone still turns on, however it's doing it automatically by itself into a constant bootloop from the HTC white screen to the Viper XL boot animation.

I can't seem to get my computer to recognize the phone when i plug it in. it makes the sound saying its connected, but it's just not displaying. Can't flash anything unless pc finds the device.

Sometimes it takes time and a couple unplug replugs for fastboot USB to come up. Took me almost a minute for it to connect properly for me earlier today.

It says fast boot on the phone in bootloader. if i reboot in fastboot, it just sends me to my bootloop. Man, i wish i would've just stopped i got this thing rooted.

While 2.3.5 of TWRP i reinstalled the Viper XL on my sd card, for the fourth time. Out of desperateness. But it actually booted up completely. Seems as if everything is working as well. Thanks man for everything.

stuck on white HTC Screen after installing custom rom

I have a problem with my phone? When I try to reboot it just stays at the white HTC screen. If I wait till the battery is completely drained and plug the power in, it boots perfectly.
Did I do something wrong with my setup?
This is how I rooted and unlocked my bootloader yesterday: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=15251
bump, this is quite frustrating
I think I didn't do this:
But now my phone is stuck on white screen and I don't know how to boot into recovery. Do i have to wait till the battery is completely drained?
-edit-
Thanks guys, problem resolved by pulling battery out during the 3 sec window after rebooting with volume up/down button and booting into recovery afterwards.
Then used ''fastboot flash boot boot.img'' command.

Your avatar is a splitting image of you currently.
Don't bump a thread on the hour.....
So what you are trying to say is you never followed your OWN guide correctly?
Now I assume you did everything else and it is just the boot img problem.
So can you give some details on what it said when you tried to flash the boot?
-You extracted the img, placed it with your fastboot.exe and said fastboot flash boot boot.img
You can try the vol up and down and power to get your phone to reboot.

I flashed the boot.img in fastboot with the ''fastboot flash boot boot.img '' command while it should've been ''fastboot flash boot $pathToBootIMG\boot.img ''. My guide was wrong at that step.
That's the reason why I think the phone won't boot the rom, because it doesn't know where ''boot.img'' is.
That's why rebooting with vol up,down and power button won't do a thing. It just reboots, stays at the white htc screen..
I know how to resolve the problem, only I can't get into recovery so that I can fix it!
Reboot using the three buttons. When it is off, pull the battery out (it is a short window so be ready). Then wait a while, put it back in and hold volume down and press the power button.

You need to boot your phone into fastboot to flash the boot.img, keep searching on how to flash the boot.img, it is here, same as flashing recovery though.
Put the boot.img of your custom ROM (extract it from zip file) in the same folder where your adb tools are.
Then repeat that flashing step

Why pull the battery? That is a completely unnecessary risk. Just reboot using the three buttons, wait till the screen goes blank, then wait for the lights at the bottom to go out, then immediately press volume down and power - it will go straight into the bootloader.
If you pull the battery just a fraction of a second too late you could get a current surge just as it is turning back on and that is a particularly dangerous time to pull the battery in my opinion.

For a very simple reason: people will see the instruction to pull the battery and they will pull the battery. A proportion of them will fry their eMMC chips as a result.

[Q] Stuck at boot screen

Hello everyone. This is my first post, although ive been using xda for a while now.
I recently flashed my phone with the cm10 alpha. Everything seems to be working fine and i am using it as a daily driver. The only problem is once my phone is turned off or dies, i get stuck at the boot screen. The only way to get through is to fastboot boot boot.img using the bootloader. I had this problem with the virtuous infinity rom also, but when i flashed a cm9 rom the problem went away.
I want to be able to turn on my phone and not have worry about having my computer next to me just to boot it. For example last week i was in cairo, went out, got out of a taxi and my phone fell out my lap as i was getting out. I use my phone as my camera, and i was deprived of not being able to take any pics the rest of the day.
Is there any way i could get my phone to boot without having to go through the bootloader and using fastboot? Someone help me!

I dont follow... My phone is s-on ...ive had difficulty in the past trying to get it to s-off. But regardless, ive used roms where i wasnt stuck on the boot screen.
How do i get out of the boot screen loop without having to resort to using fastboot in bootloader?
Doing a battery pull will get you out of the loop & allow you to reenter bootloader or recovery if that's what you mean. If you're just wanting to reboot without ADB you can always volume down + power + tackpad for 5 seconds and that will reboot you.

Ok let me explain my problem a little bit in more detail.
If i turn off my phone and turn it on, i will get through the mytouch screen, then goto the cm10 boot screen and i will get stuck there in a boot loop. In order to get past this, i pull my battery and get into bootloader, then select fastboot then i type fastboot boot boot.img in command prompt. Once ive done that, then my phone will properly boot and i can use my phone regularly. But once it dies or turns off, i have to go into bootloader and then fastboot and go through that process all over again to be able to use my phone.
If i dont use fastboot in bootloader, then my phone gets stuck at the boot screen till it dies.
How do i avoid this?
I want to be able to reboot my phone without having to resort to using fastboot
I am a noob. But ive wiped eveything, reflashed and i still get the same problem. Ive had this problem with another rom also, but reading through the roms forum it didnt seem like anyone else was having this problem
Am i missing something?

See Strapped's post.
I don't believe fastboot.exe can run anything off sdcard, you would need to mount the sdcard on the computer and change directories /open cmd there, problem being you can't mount sdcard in fastboot mode so all files would need to be on computer

If 'fastboot devices' returns nothing, then you are most likely missing drivers. Easiest way to get drivers is install HTC Sync Manager. It will install the app and the drivers, you can safely uninstall the app later and still have the drivers stay installed

[Q] Help! My One X is Stuck in Boot Loop

Hey Guys,
This is my first post, so excuse me if I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about.
I was experiencing issues with my ATT HTC One X with CDM 10.1 on it, so I booted into boot loader and tried to boot up a new ROM, but somehow my initial ROM got deleted, I forgot to back up, and now I have no ROM installed and my phone is stuck in a boot loop. I have been messing with this thing and researching for hours trying all kinds of different things to get it working and nothing has seemed to work.
Can someone please help me?
Did you do a factory reset from the bootloader? If so, you've corrupted the internal memory, and will need to format it before you can move another ROM onto it.

Now that I recall, yes I believe that's exactly what I did.
Where I'm at now, I can't get into recovery. The only thing I can do is get into fastboot. Where do I go from here?
Ok. I'm assuming you have a working adb/fastboot environment on your PC. If you can't get into recovery you may as well try flashing it. Get it from here (I recommend version 2.3.3.1):
http://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/evita
Once you've downloaded the file, put it into your working adb/fastboot directory (rename it to something simple like twrp.img). Make sure you're booted into bootloader, connect phone to pc, ensure it says "fastboot usb" on your phone screen, open a command prompt within your adb/fastboot directory then issue the following command:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
This will flash the recovery, it only takes a few seconds. When it's finished, issue this command:
fastboot erase cache
Once that's done, select recovery on your phone and it should boot into TWRP recovery. Select mount from TWRP menu, mount usb storage, the storage should now show up on your pc, format it to fat32.
Now you can copy ROM from PC to phone, unmount storage, and you should be able to flash a ROM (make sure you do a full wipe first though).

I appreciate the info. I think I understand what to do now. My only problem now is that I think my phone died. The red light blinks for a couple minutes, then it turns on and goes to the HTC quietly brilliant screen. If I hold down the power and vol down buttons it will turn off and then if I hold them down again it will go into the bootloader, but then it will shut off after a few seconds. Is it because it's dead and how do I get it charge?
Stop trying to turn it on. If you do that too many times while it has very low charge you can kill the battery to the point where it's not usable at all anymore.
Leave it turned off, plug it into a wall charger overnight and then try again.

I got it back into recovery after running the commands you told me. I then moved my ViperXL 3.2.7 ROM file over to the phone. The install started and then froze one the ViperXL screen and never went any farther. I am back in recovery again, but I don't know what to do again because that ROM failed.
So now I got the ViperXL installer to go all the way through the install and it said it was successful, but now it is doing the boot loop again. It reboots, goes to the HTC screen, turns off, and just keeps repeating itself.

HTC One S C2 Help Please

Hi, i want to install Cyanogenmod 10.2 to my phone, but i did wrong. Now my phone doesn't power up. i can enter bootloader mode, there isn't a problem with it. what can i do now please help...
And there is my bootloader screen.
Now i relocked. i'll try to install original ruu.
help please, i can't find acceptable Ruu for my version
I'd suggest starting from the beginning by going into fastboot mode and wiping system and boot and then fastboot flash the CM boot.img and recovery.img. If you can get into a recovery then you should be able to mount USB storage, push across a zip for CM10 that will work and then flash it.

When I soft-bricked mine, I couldn't find any RUU that would work, so I just thought I'd try and give you a different route. You should be able to get into fastboot mode if you can get into the bootloader? If you unlock the bootloader again, you can cycle through the bootloader options with the volume keys and select with the power button. If you select fastboot, or see "fastboot" highlighted, you can connect the phone to your computer and issue fastboot commands. If you've never done that before, I could give you a quick tutorial on how to, as I know it will definitely work whilst RUU's can be hard to find... Good luck though!!
