[Q] Stuck at boot screen - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

Hello everyone. This is my first post, although ive been using xda for a while now.
I recently flashed my phone with the cm10 alpha. Everything seems to be working fine and i am using it as a daily driver. The only problem is once my phone is turned off or dies, i get stuck at the boot screen. The only way to get through is to fastboot boot boot.img using the bootloader. I had this problem with the virtuous infinity rom also, but when i flashed a cm9 rom the problem went away.
I want to be able to turn on my phone and not have worry about having my computer next to me just to boot it. For example last week i was in cairo, went out, got out of a taxi and my phone fell out my lap as i was getting out. I use my phone as my camera, and i was deprived of not being able to take any pics the rest of the day.
Is there any way i could get my phone to boot without having to go through the bootloader and using fastboot? Someone help me!

I dont follow... My phone is s-on ...ive had difficulty in the past trying to get it to s-off. But regardless, ive used roms where i wasnt stuck on the boot screen.
How do i get out of the boot screen loop without having to resort to using fastboot in bootloader?

Doing a battery pull will get you out of the loop & allow you to reenter bootloader or recovery if that's what you mean. If you're just wanting to reboot without ADB you can always volume down + power + tackpad for 5 seconds and that will reboot you.

Ok let me explain my problem a little bit in more detail.
If i turn off my phone and turn it on, i will get through the mytouch screen, then goto the cm10 boot screen and i will get stuck there in a boot loop. In order to get past this, i pull my battery and get into bootloader, then select fastboot then i type fastboot boot boot.img in command prompt. Once ive done that, then my phone will properly boot and i can use my phone regularly. But once it dies or turns off, i have to go into bootloader and then fastboot and go through that process all over again to be able to use my phone.
If i dont use fastboot in bootloader, then my phone gets stuck at the boot screen till it dies.
How do i avoid this?
I want to be able to reboot my phone without having to resort to using fastboot
I am a noob. But ive wiped eveything, reflashed and i still get the same problem. Ive had this problem with another rom also, but reading through the roms forum it didnt seem like anyone else was having this problem
Am i missing something?

Ok ive figured it out. Im an idiot. Id forgotten to flash the boot image to my phone. Did that and now its working. Sorry guys, thanks for the help

AH yes....the old "fastboot FLASH boot boot.img" command! Left it out before myself.....just like lots of us have. You're not an idiot! What you did was solve a problem you had with little help. We would have finally seen it but you beat us to it!
Welcome to Android.
....btw....Flashboot flash boot boot.img doesn't work either. I've already tried that one.

This will help you.

It should be (assuming boot.img is in /sdcard/):
flashboot flash boot /sdcard/boot.img
is this correct?

I've never flashed a boot.img from an SD but if it were to work it would work like this in fastboot mode from the platform-tools dir
fastboot flash boot boot.img

No, I was just kiddin'. Sorry.
See Strapped's post.

I don't believe fastboot.exe can run anything off sdcard, you would need to mount the sdcard on the computer and change directories /open cmd there, problem being you can't mount sdcard in fastboot mode so all files would need to be on computer

Right!
I was confused with:
flash_image boot /sdcard/boot.img

That would be the correct imput for terminal, but I'm not sure how well you can flash a kernel while using the phone! But maybe... adb would be a similar command as well

Tell me I've not bricked my Xoom!!!

I've just tried to root my wifi only Xoom using the 1 click method, but didn't see there was a tab for wifi only & a 3G tab. I went through the options using the 3G options.
Now my Xoom's stuck at the red Motorola screen & won't go any further.
Are there any threads to reverse my balls up?? I've had a look but can't see anything
Please tell me I've not bricked it?!?
tell me why you posted this in the wrong section
I could tell you that it's not bricked...but then I might be lying.
Moved to Q&A. This is not development.
You will need to adb and flash recovery then flash the rom again.

Please let us poor souls know how you did it!!! I am stuck with the same problem - the screen freezes with the Motorola logo and the tablet wouldn't boot up!
For those still having issues, try going into fastboot and flashing the stock images.
You can access fastboot by restarting your xoom (power and vol up) and then once the red M comes up, tap the volume down key around a second later. You have a decent window of opportunity to press the key. This should take you to the bootloader. Once in there, use the volume down key to enter fastboot.
From fastboot you can either flash a custom recovery then from the recover install the BRD 3.1 rooted update, or you can just use the fastboot flash command to flash each partition back to stock.
Good luck.

Thanks . I have now installed custom recovery (ClockworkMod 3.0.2.8) but where do I get the rooted or stock ROM from? I suppose it has to be in a *.zip format.

Mine did that for a short while after I screwed up a flash, I reflashed boot and while running tossed the adb command to get into fastboot and then left it properly. Haven't seen it since.

To clarify... Flash boot from recovery, while that is running adb reboot bootloader? If that is the case I have a different set of problems to "boot", I can't get my pc to recognize the phone while in recovery. Everything else is recognized, even reinstalled drivers to be certain, pc doesn't even try to install a driver for recovery. Tried both TWRP & CWM.

Memory is fuzzy but I'm pretty sure I did it from fastboot, this happened to me about the time shabby was trying to fastboot boot boot.img and I ended up flashing it instead.

Okay, this will probably help you...while your device is in Sticky Bit Factory Fastboot, open up a command prompt and connect to your device (given you know how to do so in your folder containing your fastboot app and drivers). Then type "fastboot oem fb_mode_clear" This command will allow your device to boot into system normally. Problem is (I think) when a failed flash occurs sometimes it sets your device in that mode and the above command clears it. Another way to manually place a device in the same state you described is to enter this command using fastboot: fastboot oem fb_mode_set. I believe that is how RSD Lite automatically reboots your device into factory fastboot mode after flashing partitions (.mbn) on your system so that it may resume flashing the boot, recovery, and system images, etc. Let me know if it helps.....

If you can get to bootloader and recovery, you're not bricked. You just need to flash a new rom, this time remembering to flash the boot.img in fastboot like the instructions say.

If 'fastboot devices' returns nothing, then you are most likely missing drivers. Easiest way to get drivers is install HTC Sync Manager. It will install the app and the drivers, you can safely uninstall the app later and still have the drivers stay installed

reboot to fastboot, but do not select bootloader (it should say "Fastboot" in red writing just underneath the green text and above the orange text.
connect it via usb to your pc, and it should say "fastboot usb", then you should be able to use fastboot commands. if it doen't allow you to use fastboot commands, try a different usb port, or reinstalling the drivers.

Hmmm, when it rebooted it stopped at the htc screen? This sounds like it's not going to the fastboot mode. Reboot with the volume held down. That should get to the fastboot mode.

[Q] Super Soft Brick, can anyone help me unbrick this device.

Today I unlocked my HOX using Hasoon2000's all in one kit. Unlocked the phone, super cid 1111111111, and rooted the phone with no problems. Once i got everything completed i attempted to install Viper XL rom onto the device through TWRP. The first time it froze during the process, so I rebooted and repeated the process. However, once i got it to work through TWRP, it started to boot up with the Viper XL boot screen and then suddenly turn off, and repeat itself. I can't get into boot loader and once plugged into my pc it simply makes the connect and disconnect sounds. Please any help at to unbrick this phone would be highly appreciated...
Have you tried flashing a different ROM?
If it's continually looping when trying to boot, hover your finger over the volume down button, then press and hold it as soon as the screen goes blank. Hopefully that'll get you into bootloader.

I can't. I'm stuck in a boot loop, where the device continuously reboots on it's own. Can't get to fastboot or the bootloader. Device isn't being found through the adb since it powers off before it can be recognized.

As soon as the HTC screen comes back on press and hold power until the screen goes black. When the screen goes black, let go of power and press and hold volume down until the bootloader comes up.

I actually did attempt searching through the forums, but i could not find a thread that actually helped me in my current predicament.
I am currently still S- ON, my firmware was the latest 3.18, the version of TWRP used was 2.5.0. and yes the phone still turns on, however it's doing it automatically by itself into a constant bootloop from the HTC white screen to the Viper XL boot animation.

It says fast boot on the phone in bootloader. if i reboot in fastboot, it just sends me to my bootloop. Man, i wish i would've just stopped i got this thing rooted.
While 2.3.5 of TWRP i reinstalled the Viper XL on my sd card, for the fourth time. Out of desperateness. But it actually booted up completely. Seems as if everything is working as well. Thanks man for everything.

Is fastboot working? Unlock bootloader and push custom recovery there. Go to adb sideload and that should work eventually. I had an issue with HTC One M7 - someone deleted sytem, and cyanogenmod installer helped, because it pushed CWM recovery, maybe try that one as well?

Don't give up.... I was in the same position like you for a couple days....and now is fix by my self..... If you unlock your bootloader try to lock back (fastboot oem lock) now try to flash via fastboot Philz Recovery ( try until is rebooting himself into recovery) .... After that put on a memory stick the new system .... You may need to mount the USB flash drive ..... That's exactly what I have done....Good Luck ...
It is damn near IMPOSSIBLE to actualy, truly "brick" these devices. There are way too many safeguards in place.
Be careful before announcing that you are "bricked". Bootlooping (which is what your device was doing) is not "bricked". As long as you have fastboot, you can always reflash recovery, and then use recovery to reflash your custom ROM (or you can bypass all of that and reflash the factory images from fastboot).
Don't panic, you know more than you think you know. Just don't get freaked out, and read. You'll be fine.
