Hello folks,
I am fairly new to the Android OS so please be gentle
I took the plunge and finally got a smart TV from Haier which came with the 2.3.4 Android system. All is fine an cherry in 2.3.4 town as of now (apart from its horribly looking user interface design). But was wondering if i could install the 4.0 update ?
Isnt the android system like any other where you have one default version of the OS that comes from google and then there are variants from the open-source community ? If so then which is the best stable version and where can i find it.
Installation of the 2.3.4 OS is on an MMC that i copied from the technicians that came home to fix the TV so i am fine with a backup and the procedure for the install from an MMC. But i assume that if i download the OS from the internet then the procedure will be a bit different ?
I'll update more of the details (Kernel version etc) when i get home. All this because the manufacture - Haier - does not provide updates online or on its website or anywhere on the web. Appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.
Gaj
Hi Gaj - I have the same question which you have. Did you get any response from anyone or have you now upgraded to the latest version ?
If you have the latest firmware to upgrade , please share it with me or else please share the OS back up what you have as I don't even have it
please help me
Regards
Sri

Says this
Build number: ALPS.ICS2.MP.V1.18
Custom build version: 9920.2013.07.02
I've reason to believe this phone is running 4.0, as I've read the 4.1.1 is actually faked

Check keypad
I recently faced trouble finding the call settings option on my Android 4.0.4 for my need to divert my calls to another number. I my shock it isn't already present in the system settings menu. After hours of searching here and there it was under or hidden under keypad.
1. Bring up your stock android phone keypad dialer
2. Tap Menu
3. Voila! There is the call setting option.
Android, in process of creating more easily accessible options is in turn making it difficult to find the same and hence the paradox.
Hope, the solution helps to those in need. :good:
Hi
I've been in call settings, which is why I know I'm missing call alert from the list of options on that menu.
Is there any way I could update my Motorola Moto E4 Plus (NIcklaus) so this cell phone can start using Call Recorder app?
Right now, my phone alerting me that I should have at least Android 10 so this google play app starts normal work.
You've to install a Custom ROM based on Android 10 what is suitable to your phone.

Can you, please, provide me a link to a custom ROM that is suitable for my phone? I really don't know where to look. I have tried, but with no success...

Dear Forum members,
I have lineae 15.1 on my Samsung S2 GT-19100 Running Oreo 8.1.0.
WhatsApp stopped supporting my version and said I needed ot upgrade. I couldn't upgrade. Just nothing happened when I tried to update.
I couldn't download via the phone so I downloaded a good .apk file and installed it via my desktop computer.
After I installed WhatsApp the app said my phone date and time was wrong so I recalibrated the date and time but it still said phone date and time is wrong.
So it was stuck on that notification page... Phone date and time is wrong.
Then it said WhatsApp does not support custom Roms. Is there any way to get WhatsApp to work on my custom rom? I've tried all I know and I can't get it working.
Thanks Community
Tim

Looking at Whatsapp's FAQ it seems like Whatsapp doesn't support custom roms and/or rooted devices. And if I understood your question right, you are currently running Lineage OS. So I would think your best hope would be finding an mod that supports rooted/custom rom devices or modding the app yourself.
If my answer helped you please upvote it to show your appreciation,
Jamie
Did you download that apk from the WhatsApp official website? Is it the latest version, v2.21.23.17 or later?
The common prompt 'the date is wrong' means that the version you are using is too old.
The version I installed is 2.18.92...
Tim
Your question got answered by WhatsApp themselves:
About rooted phones and custom ROMs | WhatsApp Help Center
faq.whatsapp.com
Try using the latest WhatsApp apk from apkmirror. I think it has more to do with the version you have installed. WhatsApp tends to disable the old APKs.
Also, although they say they don't support custom roms, it's just a pop-up that says you may face issues because you are on a custom rom which you can just click 'ok' and move forward.

Get the lastest apk of v2.21.23.25 from the WhatsApp official website or update it through Google Play Store at first.
I loaded the latest version and it restored all my conversations and content. What a refreshing simple answer ! So easy..
I was assuming all sorts of mismatches but it worked a treat. Usually I avoid the lates versions because of matching issues.
Thanks for the guidance, I should have spotted that myself.. ! Enjoy your day.

Hi, I got myself a smart projector running on Android. Unfortunetely the deveopers installed a really old version and it seems there is no way to update them. When trying to add an account to the system or let alone update the system tells me that it can not communicate with the google servers. So, I am planning to install a new Android version on the smart projector.
Can anyone point me towards a good resource (on the net) that tells me what information I need to have, which files from the current installation I need to keep (i.e. drivers) before installing whoch ROM?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Sounds familiar - having the same problem: My Philips Picopix 4935 is a splendid device but its Android 4 isn't much fun (especially with newer audio/video-formats).
What model do you have?
